My neighbor Ann came by and got her packages.  She has decided she will walk with me to Nice Matin, and I'm frankly glad to have the company.

TOD:

LOL DR DRUXY!

The first I remember is Nehi.....because of the cactus on the bottle.  I liked the orange and grape flavors the best..

THEN I went for Seven-Up.  Vernor's is always fun!

I drank TAB for awhile - now if I want a soda, I drink a Diet Pepsi.

I think the sequel to Ben-Hur is Ben-Hum.....sister of Spanish beauty Ben-Hue.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  It's World Cardmaking Day, so I will spend some time in my craft corner to celebrate.

I am wondering if DR John G. would be willing to share his top-secret special recipe?

Good Morning - the boys and I stayed in bed as long as we could.  First day in a while where we didn't have to set an alarm.

Thanks for the moving vibes.  My lease is up at the end of November (!) - and I can't break it early without mega penalties.  It'll be here before I know it.

Also, the little girl next door as required a recorder - and no direction.  Yeah.... I'm so outa here ASAP!

For the whiskey nut cake? Certainly. It's one of Mom's.

The chariot race is over. It's the only part of this movie that's of any interest anymore. It is thrilling. The acting is abysmal. Stephen Boyd should have stuck to singing to elephants and Doris Day.

Ben-Cis beat out North by Northwest and Rio Bravo for best picture. Seems odd in hindsight. But portentous has always had an appeal to Academy voters.

Helper's mom has come and gone.  I went to the garage to see if I could find the CD for The Lives of Others - nope.  No L's at all, so they're in a box somewhere - really irritating.

And I am home from a lovely brunch.  I had a mimosa, bagel and lox.  Joshie and John Bell had California omelettes, and Michael Gildin, whom DR Laura met during his Fiddler on the Roof tour, had a gruyere omelette.  The company was delightful, and it was wonderful to see such good friends after so long a time.

I love the movie, The Lives of Others. The first time I watched it, I had to watch it again the next day. It was that affecting. I eventually bought a copy, which I have yet to watch. Maybe this week.

That happens with my boys as well.  Certainly makes one feel loved - wouldn't have it any other way. :-)

Recovery vibes for DR JANE's second cousin via marriage....or maybe it's her first cousin once removed via marriage.

I am too tired to sort it out and Keith is engrossed in the news to bother him.  He knows.  But thank you.  I was glad to stay up last night and wait for the news.  What a long day his father had and I know he appreciated it.  I didn't tell him Keith was asleep-lol

~~~SURGERY RECOVERY VIBES~~~ for the son of DH Keith's cousin!
I am sure you were so relieved, DR Jane, to get the news.
I was thank you.  Now we wait for the lab reports and the doctor's recommendations.  I am sure you, and others here, can identify with that wait.
Since moving to the Midwest, I have discovered (and quite enjoyed) Vernor's ginger ale.
Our second home in Michigan was across the street and down a couple of homes from a beautiful home once owned by a Vernor family member.  I do not like Vernor's at all.  Once in awhile I will have Canada Dry.
I thought I was all set to make my whiskey nut cake for the holidays. Then I found the recipe. So much work, but the effort is well worth it.
The big detail I had forgotten is that it bakes for 3 hours at 250 degrees. But then, I can wrap it in cheesecloth and marinate it in bourbon for several months before cutting into it. Delicious.
Yum.
Ale-8-One is a ginger ale made in Kentucky that has become a bit of a cult drink in the past few years. It's now used in salsa and barbecue sauce, I think, among other things. I got Mom one when her stomach wasn't too good and stole a taste. Good. Too sweet and not gingery enough, but it worked on her stomach.
Why I drink Canada Dry or 7-Up.  Just a sip or two at a time.
Sounds fantastic!!
It has a pound of chopped nuts and 3 pounds of dried fruit in it. I'm using dried strawberries, cherries, apricots and pears. I may add cranberries, if I pick them up.
It sounds delicious though I might change my mind once you say what nuts you are using.
The drive by shower was most excellent!
We drove right there.....several cars were parked and folks were walking about.....so we got out.
It was so nice to see my baby brother and his wife and nephew Grant and his wife Lynsie.....they are all so happy.  Lynsie's mom and sister did the decorations.....a very nice gift table....and BIG sign that said Grayson Wayne - the baby's name....
Balloons and streamers.....not TOO much....it was just right.
I asked Grant where he got the name and he pointed to his shirt that had a lot of Batman logos on it.....and I said oh.....Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne.....and he said YES.
I guess I am the only one besides his brother Garrett who had made the connection....LOL
