Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very ME-centric, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently laboring but shall cease immediately.
-
And the word of the day is: COMMINUTE!
-
Welcome seven GUESTS. Come on in, the water's fine. Even if you don't think you should, do it, do it now. The time is nigh and you might regret it if you don't take the bull by the horns or the horns by the bull and just bite the bullet and converse. We need to converse - it makes the world a better place.
-
~~~excellent vibes and xylophones~~~
that bk's Kritzerland plans come to full fruition!!!!!!
-
The notes promise:
I shall damn well jog the entire weekend
What, no potty breaks for three days :)
der Brucer
-
Very few people call me anymore to just converse - what a shame.
-
I especially miss late-night conversing.
-
And the word of the day is: COMMINUTE!
A small Communist?
DVDs to watch this weekend:
THAT HAMILTON WOMAN
EASY VIRTUE
SURVIELLANCE
CSI, Season 9
plus, more episodes of CRIMINAL MINDS, Season 4 and the rest of CALIFORNICATION, Season 1, then Season 2
Thanks to all for the vibes for Opening Night. We had a very enthusiastic audience. Some line bobbles here and there - myself included - but all in all it went very well.
The audience was laughing ALL night as though the play was brand new - it is VERY funny.
Of course one of the WEE players - who plays Officer Brophy forgot to bring out his blackjack, so he had nothing to hit me with when I was strangling Officer Klein......I guess I just collapsed from the effort.
And the preshow music started - and it was the scene change CD. When I called up to the booth, the girl said...."Well we'll do what we can....." And some of the scene changes had NO music....
Oh well....
-
Working today until 3 p.m. and then another show tonight. Tickets are selling very well.
-
TOD:
Nothing.
-
DR JRand59, your story reminds me of an article or interview I was reading with some cast member of some production of The Full Monty. During the final number, the guys realized that the lighting cue had gotten off by one, and they realized that the final moment of the show was not going to be covered by the special lighting effect. I can't remember what they did - I think they just stuck it out, and the audience got an extra bonus that night.
-
DR DAW - the tech person IS usually the last one to know, or to pay attention.
-
And now - to work.
-
Good morning!
Another very cool morning that will lead to a very warm afternoon in the mid 80s. Ugh! But right now it feels wonderful!
-
I had the closest to normal night of sleep I've had in six weeks. Very encouraging. My arm hurt less and the cramping in my right hand was less severe than it's been. It might have happened the day AFTER my birthday, but it was still a wonderful birthday gift from "on high."
I wish those Paramount TV box sets would come today. I don't mind taking some days off after today (it is a holiday weekend), but box sets for a regular TV season take three days apiece for me to get through them, and I don't want to feel rushed and frenzied trying to get through them with deadlines looming if I don't have to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they arrive today.
Good morning, all! A year ago last evening I was in the ER because of my idiot doctor's failure to diagnose my diabetes. I have survived the year, not as gracefully as I would have liked, but I'm here!
This morning I have several errands. The first is to run the music for the recording over to Brent Barrett's apartment, and the second is my first meeting with the mighty talented Rob Berman on FINIAN'S RAINBOW at 11:00. When I get back here, I plan to look up an alternate carpenter so if George's ass isn't in this apartment on Tuesday securing those damned bookcases, I'm firing it. This nonasense is driving me crazy: I can find nothing, the clutter annoys me no end and it's gone on far too long.
TOD:
DVD: too much clutter to find anything
CD: Merrie England, How To Murder Your Wife, Im Weissen Rossl, Liz Callaway, Guy Haines
VCR: too much clutter
DVD: an ABC Movie of the Week goodie--DYING ROOM ONLY with Cloris Leachman
I'm glad you had a good opening, DR JRand, but I'm sorry that you're saddled with such an apathetic crew on this one.
DR JRand58, it was your opening night, and I'm sure tonight will be better. I swear the play is foolproof unless you've got two charmless old ladies. And it's my belief that audiwnces today are so obtuse that they would swear there was scene change music under every change.
Glad opening night was funny, Jrand - laughter is grand.
-
DR Cillaliz, that is funny that you liked GREY GARDENS more than you thought you would. I saw it 2 nights ago and liked it less than i thought i would.
Maybe it's because i had jsut watched CHANGELING which i really liked.
I thought that the performances in GG were very good. And it was okay. I just didn't love it.
-
A splendidly splendid trip for Arnold M. Brockman.
-
I'm up. Was hoping to sleep a little longer, but just enough noise next door to preclude me from doing so.
-
DR MattH there are a few shows that start on tv next week.
DR elmore - Has it really been a year? Hmmm.. I guess so. :)
I shall give the new version of Melrose Place a try. I was very addicted to the old show.
Glad to read he made it safely. We went to the UP once, it was foggy most of the time & we could hardly see the painted rocks, which I'm told are beautiful.
Well, DR Jane, you're ahead of me. I lived in Michigan for 20+ years and never went to the UP.
-
DR JRand - Glad to hear that you had a laugh-filled opening night. Continue to have more fun tonight.
-
We rented an RV so we could take Echo. Craig also went with us, the good sport that he is never complained about the rain & the wet dog. He had his music which kept him happy. Keith & I did more complaining about the wet dog. There were fun days on the trip & the 4 of us had a nice boat ride on the lake.
DR elmore I'm amazed it has already been a year. On the upside of the hospital visit, it encouraged you to change your eating habits very quickly.
I've been doing some organizing, and I just found something I've been looking for for almost eight months. When I put out the Herrmann Christmas Carol, I could not find the sheet music folio, which I'd bought on eBay and which I knew I had. It used to reside on the piano, but wasn't there, and certainly wasn't in the bench. When the garage got redone, I looked through every box, to no avail. It was driving me crazy. And I never did find it, which was most annoying, since it's signed by Mr. Herrmann and his then-wife, Lucille Fletcher. Well, I was just moving some stuff around in the book room and there it was in one of the shelves - it's very thin and hard to see, and why I would have put it in with books is anyone's guess - I do have some sheet music books in the book room (full scores, like Li'l Abner, Wildcat, etc.) but it wasn't with those, it was next to some oversize film book. But, now I have it and shall not lose it again.
-
That's great, BK! I know I have a couple of CDs that I've been looking for for YEARS but I just can't find them. :-\
It's certainly worth considering. Since nothing new to review came today, I'm going to have all weekend free, so I'll likely watch this at some point this weekend.
I asked if the photo was too big & no one complained. I was not in cinemascope.
Yes, it is too big. Yes, this is a complaint. :) I am in Cinemascope.
Never thought I'd ever say "it is too big" ::)
Before I left for the grocery store, I watched some BONES episodes from season three including the one that introduced Sully to Temperence and the wonderful one with the old priest and younger priest at odds with one another over how the parish was being run.
-
I also watched a BONES episode while I ate lunch, the one that introduced Stephen Fry as Booth's psychiatrist. I also watched one where Booth gets abducted and it takes Tempi
s father (played by Ryan O'Neal) to help her rescue him.
How can I have put us back into cinemascope when the photo is gone? I'll see what I can do.
-
Did I fix it?
-
I spent most of the afternoon watching M*A*S*H. I hadn't watched the movie in a long, long time, so it was good to see it again.
The Blu-ray can't sharpen when was always a soft, diffused picture, but it's certainly the cleanest I've ever seen the movie look on home video.
I love the movie but I've never been able to think of it as perfect. The Tokyo sequence and the football game near the end just seem like they don't quite fit with the rest of the movie. The rest is really great and at the time was very innovative (Altman did many later movies in the same style so it seems very familiar now)
-
I watched some of the bonus features, but I still have some more to do. There was a 40-minute making-of feature that was pretty exhaustive and the 24 minute AMC Backstory that was a condensed version of the longer piece.
-
Did I fix it?
In a word - no.
You must delete the picture's frame.
PAGE FIVE DANCE!!!!
(http://www.daisy.org/z3986/structure/SG-DAISY3/images/part2-block/kbd01.jpg)
*Well, that's page five of something or other. ;)
-
So...
Long story short...
My friend, Michael, who I was going to drive back up with to NYC today had a family emergency to deal with this morning. Things are fine now, but he just wanted to hang around a bit to make sure things were settled. In the meantime, I tried to book a cheapo bus back up to NYC. Well, all of them were sold out, and there were even some reports of a lot of over-selling and stranded passengers dotting the sidewalks of DC's Chinatown. There are some trains later - there's no way I'm in heading into DC now during rush hour - but I'm actually thinking I may just hang here another day - or even two.
My niece and her cousin get back from Disney tomorrow, so I can spend a bit of time with them getting all the details about their trip. And my parents are also coming back up this weekend, so... We shall see...
-
*And, actually, if DR Dan (the Man) happens to come back to edit his "quoted" post, well, then everything should be honkey-dorey. Whatever that means.
-
Otherwise, I've basically done nothing today. Which, since I think I may have walked a little too much yesterday, was/is a good thing. A day of rest.
-
As for the Friday Media Check....
Hmmm...
Mainly radio this week: WNYC (via internet), WETA, WTOP, etc.
-
OK... And now... Dinner with my brother, his ex-wife and her (new) husband.
Laters...
-
Boy, not exactly a day off today. I've been on the go since this morning. I did grab a sandwich at Jerry's whilst doing some work on the Nudie script in advance of meeting with David this evening. I had a ton of packages today - the books arrived. So, here's the question: The little gift that will come with the books won't be here until late next week - so, should I just send out the books this weekend and then send the gift separately (most of the people who ordered the books also order CDs, so I could put it in with the next order) - so, let me know - my instinct is just to send out the books tomorrow.
-
Great Friday VIbes for all of us-- one and all!!!
-
Duplicity arrived, so that's what I'm watching, probably start it around three-thirty so I can be finished with it before I toddle off to dinner meeting
I think you should wait & send them all together. It is more cost & energy efficient. :)
-
Let me hear from others. The little bonus is small and could easily be sent with CDs.
You wear a thong now, you wicked girl?
TCB and Jane, if you go to kritzerland.com there's now a link to order the book - I think it's under "Fun" but here's the direct link:
http://kritzerland.com/historical.htm
-
No fair, she fixed it!
-
LOL-boy you both read quickly.
-
LOL-boy you both read quickly.
Not quickly enough, apparently.
-
My copy of the book has been ordered.
-
I think you should wait & send them all together.
Agreed.
-
Boy, not exactly a day off today. I've been on the go since this morning. I did grab a sandwich at Jerry's whilst doing some work on the Nudie script in advance of meeting with David this evening. I had a ton of packages today - the books arrived. So, here's the question: The little gift that will come with the books won't be here until late next week - so, should I just send out the books this weekend and then send the gift separately (most of the people who ordered the books also order CDs, so I could put it in with the next order) - so, let me know - my instinct is just to send out the books tomorrow.
I say do whatever is easiest for you. If you wait, you'll know that each book will have a gift and you won't have to keep track that this CD gets a gift for the book, but this CD doesn't.
-
The book has been ordered :) Bruce, sorry I didn't do it sooner.
I can't believe I didn't order it sooner.
I think I started to order it, but ended up ordering DAW's nude calendar instead.
-
Bruce late next week isn't that long to wait, especially when mail won't be going anywhere on Monday.
-
Jane, Ginny and the kittens are doing well.
-
My vote is to wait, too. Plenty of other books to keep me busy!
-
I think I started to order it, but ended up ordering DAW's nude calendar instead.
I typed and erased three different responses.
DR JoseSPiano, where can one get a good poutine around these parts?? :)
I say wait (since I haven't ordered yet). Kill two birds (or tofus) with one stone.
Another vote for sending everything out at once!
-
I shan't torture you with videos.
It's never anything but a pleasure, Laura DR!
-
I hope this means that DR TCB is on the mend.
-
Jane, Ginny and the kittens are doing well.
:D
I look forward to the next set of photos.
Either that, or he's completely delirious.
Okay, I guess I'll wait for the little bonus gift.
I do feel a little better. Thanks everyone for your vibes. I think that Matt H. and Michael Shayne need them more than I.
Does a good poutine having anything to do with your nude calendar?
Does a good poutine having anything to do with your nude calendar?
Well, indirectly. Because I eat so much of it, the calendar has to be printed in a widescreen format. :P
My ankle has been acting up a little today, so you never know. What is your head telling you?
No headache.
DRs Kerry and Laura, if you don't get that storm, maybe you could try THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjbpwlqp5Qw) instead...at least, the first minute and a half!!!! :)
-
I gotta tell you. I was trying to finish The Story of Mankind, truly one of the most horrendous movies in the history of cinema, but I finally shut it off after an hour. I'll try to at least get to the parts with the Marx Brothers over the weekend.
Is that the one with Ronald Coleman where they have to decide the fate of the Mannkind and the Planet Earth (or some such thing)?
No, I haven't looked it up on imdb-- it's just one of those things I remember seeing as a kid.
-
No headache.
Well, then, maybe we're good until tomorrow.
-
I cannot stop repeatedly and obsessively watching Julie Reiber's performance of "The Wizard and I" from Two's Company.
I love the first minute and a half of that video, DAW.
She's very good...but the song that I keep playing is "The Life I Never Led." I just love this song! :D
Has anyone else made your own cover for this DVD? Here's a simple one that I made, adapted from the DVD title image (I hope copyright laws aren't violated for creating and posting this smallerized version ::)):
-
the song that I keep playing is "The Life I Never Led." I just love this song! :D
Most definitely!!!!
-
I made it square to fit in the CD jewel case that it came in. I'm not inventive enough (usually) to make a whole DVD case cover.
And, from the sublime to the ridiculous, here are the Bradys singing "Sunshine Day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaCCG7QkM_c)!" :)
Here's hoping the Brockmans have a wonderful trip!
six occupations the brady kids would have been suited for when they grew up
1. marcia - president
2. jan - vice-president
3. cindy - speech therapist
4. greg - porn star (straight)
5. peter - porn star (gay)
6. bobby - narc
I thought I had a link to the Bradys doing "Heartbeat (It's a Lovebeat)" but I can't find it.
Silly rabbit-- wasn't that somebody like the DeFrancos or some such thing? Or did the Brady's do that too?
-
The Defrancos doing that number are easy to find.
The Bradys, with alice doing the "Listen to my heart pound" part, was a special joy.
Last night I watched a motion picture on dvd called NEW YORK. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1328634/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1328634/)
Arguably one of the finest Bollywood dramas I have ever seen.
I cannot recommend this film enough.
Tonight, I shall either watch COMPULSION http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052700/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052700/) or SWOON http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105508/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105508/).
I have been listening to THRILL ME http://castalbumcollector.com/recordings/3404 (http://castalbumcollector.com/recordings/3404) .
I have finished reading FOR THE THRILL OF IT http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780061697371/For_the_Thrill_of_It/index.aspx (http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780061697371/For_the_Thrill_of_It/index.aspx) .
Looks like Hearbeat/Lovebeat on the Brady show was part of a Heart medley which included,:
"You’ve Gotta Have Heart" (Adler/Ross) (kids)
"Heart and Soul" (Carmichael) (Mike & Carol)
"Happy Heart" (Rae/Last) (all)
"Heart of My Heart" (Mack) (Mike & Carol)
"Don't Go Breakin’ My Heart" (Taupin/John) (Kaptain Kool and the Kongs)
"How Do You Mend A Broken Heart" (Green) (Carol)
"Heartbeat, It's A Lovebeat" (Hudspeth/Kennedy) (all)
We are storm-watching again tonight.
-
LOL DR DAW! :)
-
Finished Duplicity which is a little too "clever" for its own good - it grew tiresome very quickly and never recovered. David is running late, so we probably won't eat until seven-thirty, and I'm jiggy with that, I'm down with that, I'm sideways with that.
-
Doesn't he sell real estate now?
Yes, he does.
-
Great cover, DAW.
-
David Wechter is finally leaving work, which means we'll meet for our dinner meeting at eight, only an hour later than it was meant to be.
-
Had some fun viewing tonight. Of course, I started off in work mode finishing up the bonus features for M*A*S*H. Contrary to the other Fox discs I watched this week, the bonus features on this one were all very long. Of course, the movie they have to celebrate was worth the lengthy platitudes espoused by the talking heads, so that did make a difference.
-
I don't have DUPLICITY yet, but I'm looking forward to watching it very much. I loved MICHAEL CLAYTON, and I'm anticipating this one a lot.
-
Next I watched the Helen Hayes version of A CARIBBEAN MYSTERY. I had forgotten how many well known theater and TV names were in this cast: Beth Howland, Swoosie Kurtz, Barnard Hughes, Jameson Parker, Maurice Evans. It's one of the really good Miss Marple mysteries.
-
Oh, forgot about Brock Peters and Zacks Mokae who were also in the cast.
-
Then I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest, and the oys weren't in the previews for next week either.
-
Officer Fish was on duty on OLTL today and Layla and Cris are still talking about the gay storyline for him that I assume will be picked up next week. Will look forward to it.
But a pretty shoddy looking video master, IIRC. Or maybe I'm thinking of the Hickson one.
-
Played an unusual gig tonight for the Oregon Regency Society, where everyone (sans moi) was dressed in 18th century attire, and I played Mozart on the non-Regency piano. It was at this lovely location:
The Hickson one is dark. The Hayes is brighter and has moments of great sharpness. However, focus and grain levels vary quite a bit on the Hayes version.
Now, I'm going to close up shop here and head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
G'night!
Don't have enough batteries to catch up right now. But after a brief chat with a highway partrolman and a speeding ticket later, I am at the lake. I ended up eating dinner with my parents and then dinner with gretchen and her family. LOL, so much for a diet. I'll post more tomorrow. Night
Exactly - I loved Michael Clayton a lot and was looking forward to this one - if you love this, you're a better man than I, Gunga Din - it's pretty terrible, but it sounds like you already like it :)
-
Back from a nice dinner and meeting with David, who concurred with everything I wanted to fix, and he's going to think about some stuff that I've asked him to come up with.
-
I had bacon and eggs, and a piece of chocolate mousse cake for dessert. We had a real jerk for a waiter - he never came back to the table after delivering our food - I had to literally get up and go find him to get a refill and then dessert, and I got so tired of waiting, that I went to the manager for our check.
The kittens don't do anything yet...
Must go. To watch a movie. And sleep. Till Saturday. ???
Ha! Two days in a row. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Topic of the day - I have THREE, count them, THREE Kritzerland titles to upload into iTunes (one of which arrived today!!). That's how behind I am!
