Well, you've read the notes, the notes were the best and had intentions, and now it is time for you to post until the best cows come home.

And the word of the day is: LUCUBRATION!
-
BK, I love the sound clips for Taras Bulba (http://www.kritzerland.com/taras.htm). Can't wait for the whole thing!

Pretty incredible!

And the word of the day is: LUCUBRATION!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR READER LUCU!!!

On the first day of my mini vacation i am up way too early

Yawn.

Thanks, Kerry for the Central Park information.
Thanks, Jose for looking for other venues. I had thought it would be done at the Ziegfeld myself but it's not on the official list. Nor is Radio City Music Hall. There is nothing listed for Manhattan on the PDF or through a Zip Code search.
Here is the "official" Web site
Wizard of Oz (http://www.ncm.com/Fathom/Premiere/WizardofOz.aspx)
Click Here gives you a PDF of all theatres around the country showing the film. If you enter your zip code on the right side of the page you get theatre in your general area (very wide area since for my zip they are listing Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania).

One shoe has dropped, which means nothing if you don't work in my office.
-
Well, I hope at least that it was a Soft Shoe. [ba-dum-bum]
-
ASK BK
I hope this is not too convoluted.
When searching cast recordings for possible reissues and looking at labels that may have produced a handful of recordings (Like Roulette's Show Girl, Mercury's All In Love, Mio International's Colette, Project 3's Minnie's Boys, Cry For Us All) or self produced (Angel by Gary Geld/Peter Udell) or labels that have been absorbed by other labels (MGM's Cradle Will Rock, ABC-Paramont's Cindy)
I wonder if this is the procedure that you go through.
Will there be enough interest in the title (How do you decide yea or nay. What are your parameters?}
and
1) Which label now owns the rights
2) If the rights are available
3) Are the masters available
4) Quality of said masters
Anything left out?
Just curious about the process you go through in deciding what you will release.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR READER LUCU!!!
LOL!

One shoe has dropped, which means nothing if you don't work in my office.
And it's hell waiting for the other shoe!
-
Good Morning, Good day! How are you this wonderful day?
-
Good morning, all! I have a morning at Toyland, a trip to see Stephen Cole who is in rehearsals for his show THE ROAD TO QATAR, a stop at the Lincoln Plaza Cinema, and then a return to, hopefully (but who's holding their breath?), to repeaired bookcases. Tonight my friend Val from Barnes & Noble and I are seeng TAKING WOODSTOCK. That's my day.
I had a great meeting with the FINIAN'S RAINBOW copyist Brian yesterday. I like the personnel on the show quite a lot.
I remember seeing THE WIZARD OF OZ in a glorious new print on Memorial Day weekend, 1984, at the Metro at 100th and Broadway, when it was a good revival house. I don't even know if it's still a cinema today. That was my last viewing of the film.
-
And the word of the day is: LUCUBRATION!
Everybody's doin' a brand new dance now,
(C'mon baby, do the Lucubration!)
I know you'll get to like it
If you give it a chance now
(C'mon baby, do the Lucubration!)
My little baby sister can do it with ease
It's easier than learning your A B C's
So come on, come on,
Do the Lucubration with me!
-
Good morning!
It's a gray morning in anticipation of the upcoming rain we're supposed to have. It hasn't started yet, and it's still going to be in the 80s today. Right now, however, I have the windows open and the house airing out.
-
My therapist told me on Monday that it would be OK to start back in walking around my neighborhood for the exercise. (I get so awfully bored with the treadmill). I couldn't do it yesterday not knowing when the roofers would come, and I have to do it when it's cool. I won't walk if I end up dripping with sweat when it's over.
Anyway, I did my first walk in quite a while this morning, and even though I was exhausted when I got back and my calves were chiding me for my harsh treatment of them, it felt good and I'm hoping I'll be able to do it daily now (at least so far as the rain will allow. It's supposed to rain for the rest of the week.)
-
Today I start my next work project: MY NAME IS EARL - Season Four. I didn't watch this final season of the show last year, so I'm delighted now to catch up with it. It should take me two days to get through all the episodes and bonus fatures. There don't appear to be any commentaries, so that will speed things up considerably, too.
-
Looking forward to a new episode of GLEE tonight. That's all that's on my viewing calendar in terms of network TV today.
-
Last night I watched THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY on TCM. The first time I saw this picture years back, I hated it--I thought all of the characters were idiotic ninnies. But with repeated viewings, it's completely won me over and I now enjoy it for it's twisted, daffy and macabre humor. And I love that Bernard Herrmann score!
-
Good Morning!
Greetings from Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center!
-
I got up a little later than planned, but made it down to the Plaza by 7:45. And now I'm just waiting in my seat for the open rehearsal to begin.

Loved her in everything I ever saw her do, and I was SO thrilled for her when she won the Emmy for THE SNOOP SISTERS. I wish the show had been more of a popular hit because I really loved it. I was thinking of rewatching DANGEROUS LIAISONS last night, but ran out of time.
-
Now I guess I'll head downstairs, clean my bedroom, put linens in the laundry, and then do some leisure viewing waiting for lunchtime.

I didn't see DANGEROUS LIAISONS until she was dead, and I didn't know she'd done the film. It was such a thrill to see her in it. All we ever talked about was my obsession with 70 GIRLS 70!
I have the same problem with Charlotte's godmother Celia Weston; she'll tell me she's been off working on something but never know exactly what. I go to a movie and - shazam! - there she is!
-
I have the new re-recording of Ernest Gold's score for Exodus, and am looking forward to listening to it.
Girding my loins for the rest of the week: temple rehearsal tonight, church choir Thursday night, and then Rosh Hashanah on Friday night and Saturday. Sunday is church and/or second day of Rosh Hashanah; take your pick. :P

Odd that they are not playing in Manhattan. I would think they would attract a very large audience in Manhattan. I've never seen Wizard of Oz on a giant screen - only on TV.
-

Ah - one of the lucky ones who got tickets! Enjoy DR Jose! Awaiting your report.
-
And good morning!
Not such a nice day here today, so a good day for some indoor stuff - which is just what I have planned. A matinee of Burn the Floor. A reading I must attend this evening of a play. And some time to kill between the two - so -- maybe a late afternoon movie. I must check the listings.
-
All this CUL-tchah!!!!! I am green with envy! :)

Me too (thinking they would have a very large audience in Manhattan). I have seen WOO on the big screen but I wanted to see this particular restoration. It sounds like they've done an amazing job.

Wednesday morning greetings! I'm about to leave for a luncheon meeting with my volunteer administrator friends. Haven't seen them since June and I'm looking forward to catching up.

I am at Toyland. I just arrived from an especially peculiar visit to the Staples on 81st and Broadway; whenever I stop in there, my rating drops another percentage over the lazy and/or misinformed/uninformed employees. I had to buy a lot of CD cases and I got to the register where one employee was helping a customer at one register, another clerk was writing something into a notebook. and the other two stood there and chatted. As I waited, the employee at the register with the customer took the customer to a computer and I continued to stand there. I finally said "this is ridiculous," and the young lady chatting to the gentleman said, "are you waiting?" I wanted to answer, no, I like standing in front of an empty register with my arms full of items as an exercise for the biceps, but I just said yes. Before the sale was finished, the clerk had spilled a cup of coffee all over the shopping bags, sent a pil,e of papers flying, and had no change to giver my requested cash back. I now discover she didn't give me my receipt. Idiots. I hate Staples and the mismanagement of my neighborhood store is pathetic.

I would love to see a baby penguin up close. If I had taken early retirement perhaps I could have taken a trip to the Galapagos or Southern Africa and checked that off my list.

I think you meant "enduring."

The thing I noticed the first time I saw THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (on a big screen at a revival house) is how horrible Shirley MacLaine's posture is throughout the film.

I ordered Mr Bulba yesterday. Most interesting. I was going to go have the oil changed in the car, but there are three cars in my driveway.
My uncle is selling his 1982 Rolls Royce at the Barrett Jackson auction in April....I think....and he may add his 1975 Mercedes convertible.....at the present time only the Rolls has been accepted. We shall see.
This is my rich uncle, of course.

DR MBARNUM - Roxanne Arlen was the lovely Sylvania Television model on Beat the Clock - and Miss Electra in the movie GYPSY....I just can't imagine her being drunk at the American Legion Hall....

DR ELMORE it does seem at times that no one is watching the store.
-
The time at Toyland has whizzed by, and I must leave shortly for my trek to MacDougal Street and THE ROAD TO
QATAR. It will be nice to see Messrs Stephen Cole and David Krane. Their show is very funny.
-
DR ELMORE it does seem at times that no one is watching the store.
Amen, DR JRand59!
-
I'm seeing the new Tracy Letts play, Superior Donuts on Wednesday, September 30th
-
I wish I enjoyed walking around my neighborhood as much as I enjoy walking on my air walker.
So let me get this straight: you don't enjoy street walkers?? ;)
-
Yes DR DAW - you got that straight!
-
DR BEN did the other shoe drop yet?
-
ELEKTRA just arrived at my office (and I don't mean Daredevil's gf!)
-
I'm seeing Joe Nichols on Saturday night. Finally.
-
DR BEN did the other shoe drop yet?
It will drop sometime between tomorrow and Wednesday, September 30th.
Nothing like keeping people in suspense.
-
DR BEN you need B. Hermann to compose a score for your office.
-
JR, do you think BK's reference last night to a director we all love could possibly be Alfred E. Green? :)
-
Oh, we love this director MUCH more than Alfred E. Green AND Alfred E. Neumann put together.
-
I shall now be on my way to lay down tracks for a demo.
-
This has been a very good day so far :)
-
And I did manage to do a two-mile jog.
-
Is this a director that I am known to enjoy? I sure hope so!!
-
I'm seeing the new Tracy Letts play, Superior Donuts on Wednesday, September 30th
I saw it in Chicago. I heard they changed a few things. I'll be curious what you think of it
-
Good day one and all...
At a coffee shop writing this but contemplating going outside to enjoy the nice fall weather. However debating if I want to look at road construction mess and one that is three months behind.
Vibes of support, luck and good humour to one and all!

I was chatting with a prof last night in the library and we were talking about a show called Little Mosque on the Prairie. Interesting show and he stated that they developing it for American television.

No wonder you are so confused!
It's one of my many endearing charms! ;D
I thought they were both endearing and enduring :)
I think you meant "enduring."
-
Cilla, those are lovely cats in your avatar... Is one of them Callie?
-
Perhaps it is Mr B.I.G. hisseff.
-
DR ELMORE it does seem at times that no one is watching the store.
I would agree.. There is a store I hate going to unless I absolutely have do due to rude and incompetent service
-
Sorry Cilla, I should have looked at the caption below before I asked my question.. Mea Culpa!
-
I just got home from all my errands. The Lincoln Square Cinema is the first theatre I've been to in ages where I had to buy an adult ticket for myself because I'm only turning 63 and I'm not 65. Every other movie I've been to has been letting me buy a senior ticket since I turned 62. Damn them all to hell.
And GEORGE IS HERE! Yay!
-
GEORGE IS HERE!
Huzzah! :)
-
Elmore, here you can get a ticket at 55... That is very rude of them...
To be honest, I did not think you were that old. I figured 55. You look great!
-
You are also a good person!
Then again all the hainsies and Kimlets are good upright people with impeccable morals
-
Hello George!
-
with impeccable morals
I wish my pecs were moral!
-
:)
-
Thanks DR DAKOTA CELT - my avatar is a photo of my AURA.
-
Yes the Old Man age for a price break here is 55 as well.
-
Page Five Cat Teeth Dance. ;D
-
Yes the Old Man age for a price break here is 55 as well.
That's because they were afraid of you.
-
Thanks DR DAKOTA CELT - my avatar is a photo of my AURA.
Interesting...
a freind of mine of who is of Native American ancestry has commented that she sees wolf and owl in me.
-
This is a bizarre question Jrand... How do they determine your Aura?
-
That is shocking that people would be scared of a Hainsie or a Kimlet...
ETA: correcting spelling errors
-
This is per Jennifer's comment concerning Alan yesterday...
Yes, Alan was a tough guy and could be mean. However, it takes a very talented and gifted actor to play a character you love to hate.
Another actor who played a nasty that I loved to hate was John Aniston. His version of Victor Kiriakis in the 1980s was in many ways similar to Alan Spaulding.
-
Elmore, have you ever had sunbutter? it is like peanut butter but made from sunflowers
-
If Jrand has an aura, I suspect the rest of us have auras and will they be as colorful?
-
I wonder what Guy Haines would think...
-
Looking forward to a new episode of GLEE tonight. That's all that's on my viewing calendar in terms of network TV today.
For me, tonight will be GLEE and the finale to America's Got Talent!
-
Elmore, have you ever had sunbutter? it is like peanut butter but made from sunflowers
Nope. I had never even heard of it till you mentioned it. I'll look for it on my next market trip.
-
No telly viewing here until after work. And my choices then are:
What ever the tuesday evening schedule is on Prairie Public, some documentery or lecture on the MN channel, or some arts and craft program on one of the digital feeds for the local public telly station..
Teh networks I have this: Tyra Banks, Jimmy Kimmel and then local news rebroadcast, or Carson Daly and TMZ.
On CW we have some infomercial on male enhancement in the format of a chat show
-
Busy morning with an agency "Town Hall" meeting. Very fun....sort of...and not. But still.....
Off to lunch.
Sigh.
-
I like sunflower seeds.
-
so do i... especially after you drizzle honey on vanilla ice cream and then some sunflower seeds.
-
I have the new WICKED pop-up book.
-
I am glad I re-read taht...
-
DR DerBrucer, I could not take any car in that color ;)
-
Elmore, there is a numberof sunflower processing plants here. A lot of them are grown in ND. I love sunflower seeds.
and cheap here...
-
I have the new WICKED pop-up book.
Be careful not to poke an eye out! :)
-
DR BEN did the other shoe drop yet?
It will drop sometime between tomorrow and Wednesday, September 30th.
Nothing like keeping people in suspense.
~~~Vibes for a Very Gentle Landing!~~~
Hello George!
Hi, Dakota! Yesterday, I mailed the DVD of Monday's "Guiding Light," so you should receive it very early next week.
-
I'm reading in fast speed, sorry if I missed anything I should have commented on.
I spoke to Craig today, he had a phone interview & will know next week if he is invited to an in-person interview. VIBES HE GETS THIS JOB & IT TURNS OUT TO BE BETTER THAN THE JOB HE WAS JUST OFFERED IN PHILADELPHIA!!! For months he waited for the promised job in Philly & finally gave up. Now that he has moved, and can't move back, the job is his. They even called him twice about it. ::)
-
Vibes to DS Craig! I wish him well..
I will be on the lookout George!
-
Thank you very much DR Dakota.
-
I have the new WICKED pop-up book.
Be careful not to poke an eye out! :)
Those wands and broomsticks can be hazardous to one's health.
How are the kittens Laura?
Thank you DR Laura. Has there been any improvement in the kitties?
-
DR George, a big thank you for GLEE! I hope we like it after all your hard work.
The four remaining kittens continue to hang on. They all bottle feed pretty well. The pastor's wife is a nurse, and she has come over a couple of times to administer fluids (I can't stick those babies with a needle). It will just take some time to recover now. Thanks for asking.
-
The thing I noticed the first time I saw THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY (on a big screen at a revival house) is how horrible Shirley MacLaine's posture is throughout the film.
I never did spot Hitchock's cameo in that one. Had to look it up on a website. :P
Well, it's a common misconception that he appeared in all of his films. He's in most but not all of them. He is in THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY, as you found out.
-
Back from my luncheon meeting with the volunteer administrators' association. There's a big by-laws fight brewing, which makes me glad that I'm no longer on the board of that organization.
-
DR MATTH - I wish I enjoyed walking around my neighborhood as much as I enjoy walking on my air walker. Too many dogs and kids.
Well, at the time I'm walking, most people are still at home getting ready for their days. I spotted two joggers this morning, that's all.
Not sure I could do the fluids either, but they really make a difference. Hang in there, you are a very wonderful person to do so much for the kitties
-
I'm at home today. Desperately needed a mental health day. Everything caught up with me. There were some tree trimmers across the street and they asked about cutting down a tree of mine that is dying. It would have to be done at some point so what the hell, I said yes.
OMG! Isn't that always the way! I'll think the good thought.
I watched a couple of NCIS episodes to fill in the morning hours. I particularly enjoyed the one where everyone kept dropping their colleges and degrees until Gibbs finally told them if they did it again, they'd be fired.
-
with impeccable morals
I wish my pecs were moral!
I hear your pecs are stunning!
-
Thank you DRs DantMan & Cilla.
-
I watched my CASTLE episode for the day while I ate lunch. In this one, a corpse is found stuffed in a wall safe which leads to the discovery of a series of murders over some rare jewelry. Very enjoyable episode.
It was difficult doing it on Bogie, and they are sooo little. Thank you Pastor's wife for helping.
Vibes for Craig for the job!
Mucho ditto!
-
I spent most of the afternoon watching MY NAME IS EARL on Blu-ray. I got seven episodes watched, and there was laugh out loud material in every single one of them. Poor NBC and their awful prime time schedule. This program should have been a top ten hit for years. Instead, four years on NBC to increasingly dwindling ratings and it's gone.
-
The only bonus feature on the first disc was four deleted scenes. I went ahead and watched the first episode on disc two (there are four discs in the set). I should have no trouble getting through disc two today and possibly on to disc three though I will stop around 9:15 and watch GLEE from the DVR so I can skip commercials.
-
I saved enough time on the end of the afternoon to watch AS THE WORLD TURNS since Luke was going to be on. SOme good drama with his mom and his biological father. Nothing with Noah today, and they weren't in the previews for tomorrow.
DR George, a big thank you for GLEE! I hope we like it after all your hard work.
The work was not hard at all...it's very easy to do. And I hope you like it, too. :)
-
DR DerBrucer, I could not take any car in that color ;)
Fine, I'll send it back.
der Brucer
-
Thanks, DR Jane! :)
-
Now, here's something I didn't know until I read it in the paper the other day:
'Informant' Whitacre Hails from Morrow (http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20090914/ENT/909150308/1027/ENT/%20Informant%20%20hails%20from%20Morrow?GID=jaXH1mX9rSJxgjj72LTaMVN9joc+mRyroIJjguJKGnQ%3D)
Now I really want to see that movie. I didn't realize it had a local connection.
-
Well, that concludes my afternoon internet surf, so I need to head down now to make up my bed with fresh sheets and then head back for more of MY NAME IS EARL.
WBBL.
-
DRs Kerry & George, thank you.
-
Well, time to boil the nipples. Again.
-
Laura DR, I'm sorry I did not realize that you had already lost one of the little kittens. I'm so sorry.
~~~SUPER-STRENGTH VIBES~~~

In which scene from A Chorus Line did Mario wear this costume?

So...
I take my seat in the first tier, and as I'm waiting for the rehearsal to start - and there was still a good 45 minutes before the downbeat - I decided to strike up a conversation with the young(er) man sitting next to me. He mentions that, in addition to being an airline pilot - at the still relatively young age of 28! - he plays violin and that he will soon be heading back up to his alma mater, Holy Cross, in a couple of weeks to play a concert with the orchestra there. I ask if he knows "Eric", and, lo and behold, he does.
Eric is a friend of mine who was at Catholic University at the same time I was there as part of the school's accompanying staff. He was getting his Doctorate in Conducting, and he landed the job up at Holy Cross right after finishing his DMA. So, it turned out that Brendan started at Holy Cross the same year that Eric started there as a professor. And Eric will be conducting the orchestra in a few weeks, and Brendan will be one of the soloists. Small world!
After the rehearsal, we grabbed lunch up at Ollie's, and then, since he's relatively new in town, I took him up to Levain for dessert. Then we walked up to Zabar's - he had never been - then we walked back to Central Park South to grab an espresso at Cafe Zibetto.
Then I headed over to MoMA, and he headed home to practice.
On the way to MoMA, a couple from Guatemala was asking people on the sidewalk how to get to the Museum, well... I told them just to follow me since I was heading over there, and, that since I'm a member, I could get them in for $5 instead of $20. And I did.
Then after another pass through Monet's "Water Lilies", and the Ron Arad gallery, I headed back home.
-Yes, a very good day.
:)
-
I have the new WICKED pop-up book.
Why?

That's actually Zach's costume while he's listening to Paul's monologue.

DOCTOR UPDATE
Going to have to go for another test next week, but the doctor thinks there is a vein problem. Will get compression stocking to help out but there is also laser surgery to repair the problem vein. So this answers the leg problem. Next week back and neck.

I have the new WICKED pop-up book.

Because I can.

Yes DR JOSE - and you made some other people have a fine day as well.

DR DAKOTA CELT....my avatar is an example of Kirlian Photography. A special high voltage camera is used. Some people can sense or see the auras, but photography is a more reliable indication of the electrical energy charge you emit.
The aura photograph is not considered true Kirlian photography by purists.
You can have such a photo taken at most New Age bookstores.

DR Julie - There were plenty of tickets to this morning's New York Philharmonic open rehearsal. The line on the plaza looked long, but even as I was heading in to Avery Fisher Hall, the young woman holding the "Line Starts Here" sign was still out - and there were still people getting in line. -And there were plenty of available seats inside too.
As for the rehearsal itself, it was very good. Because they are broadcasting the concert tonight on PBS, they had to go ahead and run the first half without stopping during the pieces for camera blocking purposes.
The commissioned piece by Marcus Lindberg is quite good, and really acts as a showcase for the orchestra. Alas, I was not that impressed by the Messiaen, "Poemes pour Mi" featuring Renée Fleming. They just seemed like an odd fit for the opening program, and even though Ms. Fleming was marking during the rehearsal, they just didn't seem like a good fit for her voice either. -At least to my ears. It's the first time that she's performed these songs, so maybe they just need a little more time to settle into her voice, body, mind and soul. The texts are filled with lots of religious imagery, and I never got the sense that she was fully embodying the deeply spiritual and ecstatic spirit of the songs. -I could also tell that she was still counting a bit with her heel. -I'll have to watch tonight's broadcast to see if having her sing out fully "fixes" things for me.
The second half of the program consists of Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" - and, boy, was it ever!
-
OH!
And it was nice to see the new and improved(!) fountain on Josie Robertson Plaza working this morning too!
:)
-
DR elmore - If you buy the movie tickets from the kiosks, you can just punch in that your a senior citizen, and only pay the senior citizen rate. -They never check the IDs when they collect the tickets. Heck, there have been times when I've truly accidentally hit "Children's" on the kiosk, and even tried to have the Customer Service desk "fix" it. They've always said to just go in.
-
DR Jane - Well... Amtrak's Acela does go between DC and Philly. ;)

Well, time to boil the nipples. Again.
I hate when I have to do that.
-
And now I will watch THE NIGHT THEY RAIDED MINSKY'S .
-
I don't know if anyone knows this but you can watch complete episodes of Guiding Light on the CBS.com. I watched Tuesday episode this morning. (Well not the whole episode I wanted to see RR death scene)
-
OH!
When they gave out the tickets this morning, they also handed out a slip of paper advertising their "Mobile Entertainment". If you texted a certain number, then you could receive the program notes and links to sound clips for tonight's program. They were also running a contest for some merchandise. Well...
As I was leaving Lincoln Center, a text popped up on my iPhone... It turns out that I won an autographed (by Maestro Alan Gilbert) Opening Night Program!
-
And I have to say...
If anyone is looking for subjects for a new documentary or even a "reality television" show, well, look no further than some of the "Cultural Freebie Vultures" here in NYC. Some people had lined up at 5:30 this morning for the free tickets - and, apparently, they line up that early any time free tickets are being given away. They even plan strategies for when an event is general admission - like today's was.
They come prepared with portable folding chairs and box breakfast and lunches. And, boy, do they get competitive! One particularly "colorful" and curmudgeonly lady in front of me, made sure that everyone in line around her knew that she was in her space in line and that no one else was to get in front of her. -Even when she decided to step out of line in order to talk to someone a little further back. There was a gentleman behind me who also does the Freebie thing regularly, and he and this woman had some lively exchanges during the course of the wait. They were also in line on Sunday for the free tickets for tomorrow's Metropolitan Opera open dress rehearsal. And as we passed the guards and house managers, they all seemed to know, and even joked(?) with her, reminding her that she had been banned from the hall. And other halls in the city. Quite the character!
-
Ohhh.. Rosh Hashanah! Apple and Honey Cake!!!
-
I am an art idiot, but even I know that the photo from the Paris casino is Monet, not "Van Gogh blobs."
I'd have to agree. -Especially since I just saw Monet's Water Lilies again just a few hours ago.
-
I think Jose just agreed that I am an art idiot. He's right.
-
This may be "old news" from some denizens of HHW, but, since it just popped up on my Twitter feed:
Bernard Herrmann's 'Torn Curtain' Rejected Score (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgwgMnFXeFU)
That's Part 1 of 4. Just check the sidebar for the remaining 3 parts.
-
I think Jose just agreed that I am an art idiot. He's right.
You are far from an "art idiot", DR Laura. The idiots are those who cannot see nor appreciate the beauty in a casino carpet.

Back from the laying of the tracks - a little slower than it should have been, but everything is done. I made some arrangement adjustments to a few of the numbers. After that, I had lunch at Islands and ate a LOT of fries.
-
Time to watch Robert Altman's NASHVILLE again, I just read that Henry Gibson has passed away.
-
Will there be enough interest in the title (How do you decide yea or nay. What are your parameters?}
and
1) Which label now owns the rights
2) If the rights are available
3) Are the masters available
4) Quality of said masters
Anything left out?
Just curious about the process you go through in deciding what you will release.
That's about it. I've been wrong on a couple of titles in terms of how I thought they'd do, most specifically House Of Flowers and Show Girl - both broke even but made almost no profit whatsoever.
-
Mr. BIG would be an excellent guess. And in honor of that guess, I just spoke with him - we'll be having dinner next week at some point.
-
Mr. BIG would be an excellent guess.
I'm sold!

BIG made the BEST movies!
-
Well... I just checked the DVR, and due to everything else being recorded tonight, it looks like I'm going to have to wait until the wee hours of the morning tomorrow night to view tonight's "Live from Lincoln Center" - at least the first half.
Just thought you'd like to know that.
That is all.

I didn't cry through all of TAKING WOODSTOCK this time, only through the final scene between Eliot and his father. I think I also enjoyed the fim more this time around.
On a bad side, I got home and the bookcases are not finished, which pisses me off because it was my impression from George that he would finish today. If he doesn't show up till 1:00 pm tomorrow, then my day's wasted, I cannot get to my suit to try it on and the clutter, with his things here, is worse now. I am not happy about this.
-
Well, time to boil the nipples. Again.
Doesn't that hurt?

Knowing how many people at my office feel right now I would be remiss not to offer the best of vibes to Dear Jane's Dear Son Craig!!!

The four remaining kittens continue to hang on. They all bottle feed pretty well. The pastor's wife is a nurse, and she has come over a couple of times to administer fluids (I can't stick those babies with a needle). It will just take some time to recover now. Thanks for asking.

DR Cillaliz - I hope your mental health day was soothing.
Thanks Ginny, yes and no. I ended up hiring the guys working on trimming the trees across the street to cut down one of my maple trees that the ants have killed. Now I have to do something to kill the ants.
It was nice to be at home with the girls. I curled up in my chair and watched Fried Green Tomatoes and dozed off a little. I think that was from the allergy pills I took after being stung by something out in the yard.

Watching a fairly dreadful Mad Men. The Labor Day long weekend episode that features twins and some of the most puerile writing I've ever heard. And, the head secretary, Joan, I think is her name, just said she's stuck between Doris Day of Pillow Talk and the DD of Midnight Lace. Interesting, as Midnight Lace wasn't released until late October of that year.

:'(
-
Mary Travers was alway an entertainer who loved her fans as much as her fans loved her.
-
G'night!
-
Mary Travers! Oh my! :(
-
I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Some nice scenes with Fish and Kyle turned up, too, so a very good episode. Of course, Fish's homophobic parents showed up at the end of the episode, so that's what we have to look forward to tomorrow.
-
Mary Travers...very sad. :-[
-
Henry Gibson and Mary Travers. So sorry about that.
-
Then I watched more episodes of MY NAME IS EARL. I had forgotten how many guest stars the show used. Almost as many as WILL & GRACE, believe it or not.
-
I got 15 episodes watched today. This will leave me with 9 (I think) for tomorrow. I forgot to watch the deleted scenes on disc two, so after I finish disc three tomorrow, I'll go back and cath up with those deleted scenes. I think there were only three of them.
-
Time for me to leave for home.
Until later.
-
Then I watched tonight's GLEE. A super episode with lots of character developments, cameos from Victor Garner, Debra Monk, and Josh Groban (none of whom sang). We did get to hear John Lloyd Young and Matthew Morrison on a couple of numbers.
Really loved tonight's show.
-
Mr. BIG would be an excellent guess. And in honor of that guess, I just spoke with him - we'll be having dinner next week at some point.
It was NOT a guess - it was a deduction.
-
Oh my.....Mr Gibson and Ms Travers.
Peter, Paul & Mary were leaders in the folk music revolution....probably the first folk album we ever had at our house was one of theirs....we probably still have it around here. I was kind of shocked when I saw them because they always seemed so OLD.....but I loved hearing them sing.
-
I enjoyed GLEE this evening. It was my first time seeing an episode, but I didn't feel lost. Such an attractive cast of boys and fun musical numbers. The young black girl is not as strong in the acting OR singing department as someone thinks she is......but other than that..... AND Jane Lynch!
-
DR JOSE congrats on your swag! Being a technophobe pays off!
-
Dinner with B.I.G. - so many questions and tales could be told!
My next question for ASK BK day......is TARAS BULBA the fastest sell out in Kritzerland history? What do you think made it so popular? I am glad I put my order in yesterday.
-
This page has too much ME!

I'm hoping each of those kids gets a showcase number during the season. I like the lead boy and girl in the club, but I want to hear the others, too.

I guess I'll fiddle with the computer a bit and then head back down to go to bed.

Yes, Taras was our fastest sellout. Considering most people didn't see the announcement till six in the morning CA time, it really sold out in about three hours.
-
I think it's a beloved score and people seem appreciative that we've helped the sound so much, but I was as surprised as anyone given that it's already been on CD. But, my big online dealer knew - he predicted it weeks ago.

And now...

My main opera distributor has come out with some unusually cool releases this month. I spent the afternoon watching a fascinating Glenn Gould documentary, and I have Sting and Trudie Tyler (is that her name?) up next as Robert and Clara Schumann (I believe Pink is portraying Brahms).
-
OK... Been up for 17 hours...
Goodnight.
-
Very sad about Mary Travers...Peter, Paul, and Mary are one of my favorite groups, and she seemed such a nice lady :'(
-
I enjoyed the final episode of this season's BIG BROTHER and I was very, very happy with the outcome(s).
And do Jordan and Jeff not make THE best couple! I adore them both and do hope they continue at least with a strong friendship. And if Jeff does not take Jordan to Hawaii with him...well, I can only hope he takes me instead!

I am off to slumberland.
Off to see the folks in Canada. Don't know if Miami International has free wi-fi or not so I may not post to tomorrow afternoon.
Just incase I don't.....
I have no music or video planned although I might watch the Dark Knight on the laptop while Im up in the air to pass the time
Or I wll just do some scriptwork

And since I'm in the last three episodes, I'm curious as to what the plot stuff is that MattH didn't like? The Sterling plot line? I must say, the actress playing Peggy is a good egg - she's gained about fifty pounds over the last six episodes. I really like this gal a lot. But frankly, I just don't see how Draper and Sterling are going to change - they are both fairly repulsive characters, especially Sterling.

I think it's a beloved score and people seem appreciative that we've helped the sound so much, but I was as surprised as anyone given that it's already been on CD. But, my big online dealer knew - he predicted it weeks ago.
Actually, I'd never even heard of the movie...let alone heard the score. ::)
But I very muchly enjoyed the audio clips on www.kritzerland.com/taras.htm. I think I'll really like the rest of this. :D

I'm done with my viewing. Listening to the new recording of the complete score to Exodus. After the raving I've heard I was expecting the second coming, but it's not quite that. It's perfectly fine, but there's absolutely no passion in the conducting - even though the CDs from RCA on the original soundtrack sound terrible, the conducting is amazing - here the tempos are reallllly slow, and while all the notes are being played, it just lacks - passion.

That said, I love the score to Exodus and it's great to have all the music, at long last.

I have a bit of a headache - don't know why, really. I just took a couple of aspirin.

Color me VERY impressed! The gal playing Peggy gained NO weight - it's all make-up - prosthetics and fat suits. It is so realistic the people who did it deserve major kudos - I have never seen better and the proof is that I was completely taken in by it.

Is it the Peggy story line that MattH didn't like?
