Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Holy Grails, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently searching for their Holy Grail, but they're not telling what it is.

And the word of the day is: DELATE!

I'm listening to the radio concert that François posted about yesterday. Thanks for posting it, François. I love Kim Criswell!! :D

Lovely kitties and a butterfly!
Good news from DR CILLA LIZ, MICHAEL S, and ELMORE.....
Misty eyed MR BK.
Lots happening last night!
-
Job vibes for DR DAW....but it IS the weekend! Unless you work retail.
-
Taras Bulba is in my hands. I didn't open it yesterday, I am trying to decide if I want to listen to it, or keep it sealed for an investment. Time will tell.
-
Most intrigued by MR BK's description of the CD release. A two-cd release for $23.95 would be fine.
Has the information about the 3-score CD from the other company been posted anywhere?
-
TOD:
Hmmmmmmmmmm.......for many years I have wanted a few scores on CD....and got them.
Harlow by Neal Hefti
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman by Ronald Stein
April Love with Mr Pat Boone and Miss Shirley Jones
State Fair with Mr Boone and Ann-Margret
So.................I guess a few of the scores from Albert Glasser:
Attack of the Puppet People
Amazing Colossal Man
Earth vs the Spider
Monster from Green Hell
Anything else I might mention, probably HAS been released on CD, I just don't know it.
I also would like an official release of Nelson Riddle's score of Carol Lynley's Harlow.

And The Song Of The Day Is: JUST YOU WAIT

Off to work. Oh well.

Saturday morning greetings! Richard is off to London (Ohio, not England) for some clergy continuing education and I have some Middfest responsibilities today. I'm scheduled in the Sponsor Lounge from 2-4 - we greet donors and make sure they get their appreciation gifts and some refreshments. I'm going a little early to visit the history exhibit and to hear Jim McCutcheon play guitar in the City Commission chambers. I'll also meet up with our houseguest - an Indonesian photographer who's studying at Ohio University on a Fulbright scholarship. He's speaking in the religion exhibit today and tomorrow, along with several other grad students and their professor.
-
Good morning, all! I slept in an extra hour because I needed it. At 10:30 I meet Bruce Pomahac at Penn Station for our trip to Philadelphia, so I will be E&T until my return tonight, hopefully around 9 pm. I'm looking forward to seeing Mr Pomahac, my other favorite Bruce, and we always have a good time when we travel together. I'll catch up on all of his gossip and tell him about the Finian Expereince, which I am enjoying immensely. The concert today is an operetta one, so he and I will have a great time. I'm taking him a recording by Trude Rittman's composition teacher from the Cologne Conservatory, and I'm sure we will talk about her today as well. God bless her soul. She was a beautiful lady I still miss.
Today, my September rent check cleared. Finally! It only took two weeks from dropping it into the post box to the landlord's cashing it. I'm happy to know it finally arrived, but now I've got this damned health insurance premium to worry about since so funds have arrived yet to cover it. Perhaps in today's mail.
Tomorrow, I've got to fret over a couple of fixes in the Finian scores: I've got one dance piece that begins well, ends gloriously, and falls apart completely for two measures in the middle. I still havent figured out if it's me or the players, who've been having a bit of intonation problems, but I think its me, so I have to adjust it to make myself and everyone happy. I've also got a fix to make in the Entr'Acte, but this one was a collaborative error!
-
DR Elmore - enjoy your getaway today! I hope when you get back you have a mailbox full of checks and the inspiration you need for the middle of the dance number.
-
Laura DR, thanks for the pictures of the kitties.
The monarch photograph from last night was simply stunning.
-
Thank you very much, DR JRand59!!! :)
-
I don't know from weird anomolies. ;)
-
DR elmore3003 - I know several people that are currently enrolled at the Vocal Arts Academy. They're probably not involved in your concert, though.

Interesting doings, DR Ginny!!

Oh, and TOD: one of my Holy Grails for a film score would be Dave Grusin's for On Golden Pond, which was released on LP but never complete on CD.
-
Good morning!
Cool but not as cool this morning as some previous mornings this week. It's going to be like this for the next several days, and no rain in the forecast until Tuesday. Should be a pretty weekend.
-
BK,
You already know what my Holy Grail CD would be:
RUN OF THE ARROW
-
I'll be working on MEDIUM today, and with luck I should finish by this afternoon or early evening leaving the rest of the evening free. If THE WIZARD OF OZ arrives today, I'll watch that tonight. If not, I'll watch some of this barrage of TV shows cluttering my DVR.

I'm heading down now to get a jump start on my MEDIUM watching for today.
WBBL.

It has been very cold this past week. But today it is scheduled to warm up a bit (high of around 65F). Although it is raining. :(
-
Good morning. Vacation time is almost among us. Just another day or two then we're off. Work has been changing day by day. We have a new Pastor with some new ideas that are affecting the music program - all in a good way, of course. Just a lot of new work.
As for film scores, if it wasn't for Krtizerland, I would be clueless.

TOD--
I liked Johnny Williams's scores for "How to Steal A Million" and "Penelope" although they are very similar. Penelope was released on LP but that was it.
I don't know that either is exactly a Holy Grail, but I enjoyed them.
The soundtrack to the A&E series, "My Family and Other Animals" terrifically charming series) wold be heaven. The main theme always gives me chills.
I'm sure there are many more...................
-
Penelope was indeed released on CD by Chapter Three (now defunct and CD oop), and How To Steal A Million has been released recently.
-
Open house tomorrow - today they've been working since seven-thirty - there must be twenty people over there, oafs all, making so much noise you'd think they were just starting.
-
Oh, and I guess I'm up.
-
Good morning.
-
Hopefully the house will sell quickly, BK.
-
Hey! Guess what time it is!

I watched the first 4 episodes of MEDIUM last night. In its 5th year, it's still a very good show.

LATIMES - OPINION (http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-rutten3-2009oct03,0,1663738.column)
Obama's pink slips for garment workers
The administration's immigration policies callously cost 1,800 Angelenos their jobs.
Tim Rutten
October 3, 2009
This week, unemployment among American workers climbed to its highest level in a quarter of a century. In parts of Los Angeles, joblessness has reached levels unmatched since the Depression. In many predominantly African American and Latino neighborhoods, nearly one in four people is out of work.
Yet the Obama administration has chosen this moment to deprive more than 1,800 Angelenos, nearly all Latino immigrants, of jobs that not only pay a living wage but provide health insurance and other benefits. The workers are employed by American Apparel, the largest employer in downtown L.A.'s garment district. The company and its workers are victims of a shift in federal law enforcement that began under George W. Bush and now has taken a particularly callous turn under President Obama.
The firings are taking place because the American Apparel workers were found to be using identity documents that federal immigration authorities have deemed illegitimate. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has called the firings "devastating."
…
In the case of American Apparel, officials went after a firm that pays its workers $10 to $12 an hour -- well above the federal minimum wage -- and provides health benefits (including an on-site clinic), subsidized lunches and transportation, a stock-purchase plan and guaranteed year-round employment, a rarity in the garment industry.
…
In fact, the most appalling aspect of the Obama administration's wretched conduct of this affair is its studied indifference to the fate of the men and women it has thrown out of work. Cunnane's church serves as a vital social service agency in a neighborhood that is bursting at the seams with working people from southern Mexico and Central America. The mass firing at American Apparel, he said, "is going to put all these families under terrific pressure, and who's going to pick up the pieces?" Cunnane, himself an immigrant from Ireland's County Sligo, points out that it is "crazy to think that people are going to go back to their homelands when they've married and have American-born children in school here."
…
As one fired American Apparel worker told a reporter this week, "I'm going to have to go to one of those sweatshop companies where I'm going to get paid under the table."
If the Obama administration wants to force employers to more scrupulously examine the documents of new applicants for employment, that's all well and good. But legally coercing companies to fire workers who've been on the job and paying taxes for, in some cases, more than a decade is far worse than folly.
It may be strictly lawful, but the justice involved is the sort that sent Pilate to wash his hands
I wish the article had also addresed the availability of willing and able legal workers.

DR Laura, thank you for the beautiful monarch & darling kitten photos.

My wish is for the house to sit there unsold for a year. That's my wish. And my other wish is for the contractor on this job to have one of these built next door to HIM.
-
The house next to us was flipped several years ago, before housing prices went way up and before I even heard of "flipping." We were so glad to have that neighbor gone that we didn't care how much noise they made.
-
That wasn't very nice, was it?
-
If the neighbor was that bad, you don't need to be nice :)
-
STARGATE UNIVERSE was a big disappointment.
-
Has anyone watched the new show on CW, ONE TREE HILL? DR Jennifer? I'm curious about the song HEART which was used in the season premiere.
-
Belated (or early) ask BK question:
Were you involved with the Soundtrack CD for Kull the Conquerer (a movie with a screenplay by that Kid from Kentucky)?
Last night's new series Stargate Universe has a score by Joel (one of Jerry's kids - Goldsmith not Lewis).

TOD:
Lots of great soundtracks yet to be released but some that come to mind that I would love to have on CD
ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE (actually, I do have it, but not an official release)
EARTH VS THE SPIDER
DAY OF THE OUTLAW
HOT CAR GIRL ( great Cal Tjader music)
any number of 1950s B films from Republic, Allied Artists and United Artists have some great music, and I would love to get them on CD.
-
I think the new sitcom MODERN FAMILY is now one of my favorite shows...so funny...it was even funnier then THE OFFICE...or course this weeks THE OFFICE wasn't a very good episode, IMO.
-
If the neighbor was that bad, you don't need to be nice :)
Well, if she wants to date Donny Osmond she does :)

Well, time to get some cleaning done around the house. My friend Lori, who I worked with at Bi-Mart oh so many years ago, is coming by and we are heading over to Star of India for lunch with my friends Ron and Patrick, and I don't want her to see all the dust in my home environment.
-
STARGATE UNIVERSE was a big disappointment.
Yes - when you are still unfamiliar with the individual characters the constant time/space shifts between similar sets is confusing. We needed a more linear story line until we all got acquainted.
I thought David Blue (Eli) - Emmy nominee from Ugly Betty - stole the show.
der Brucer
-
We have watched the 2nd episode of MODERN FAMILY yet. I really liked the first one, Keith was so, so on it.
-
Keith asked why the began when they did & hopped back forth. My response it to grab the audience with an exciting opening. Other than that there really wasn't a reason to do it that way.
I liked David Blue & hope they do fun things with his character in the near future. How long we stay with the show I don't know. I like some of the other folks, such as Colonel Everett Young (Justin Louis). It was the script & direction I had the most problem with.
-
Hey! Guess what time it is!
Time for COPS?? ;)
-
TOD: I remember how excited I was when I first really started poking around the internets and found all sorts of CD importers from Japan, etc., and was able to get formerly Holy Grail CD titles like The Heart is a Lonely Hunter or The Fox. So much has been released in the intervening years, there's really only a handful of titles I'd love to hear cleaned up and digitized, chief among them my frequent request:
UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE
-
Wow!! DR Ron Pulliam here on a Saturday!
-
Also, the original television soundtrack of MANNIX would be great (Lalo did a re-record a few years ago which I have, but I like the original better).
-
Keith asked why the began when they did & hopped back forth. My response it to grab the audience with an exciting opening.
Sad, but true. However, the Star Trek franchise has always been based more on character than on action - the opening was really not all that exciting because we had little or no investment in the characters.

Dear friend,
Please pardon me, as I am aware that this is not a conventional way of relaying an important message such as this. I did try without success to locate either your contact address or fax number and as such, I resorted in contacting you via email. You can ignore this mail if you are not interested. I have a proposal for you, this however is not mandatory nor will I in any manner compel you to honor against your will.
I am Mr Kelvin Williams and I work with a security company (THE GUNNEBO SECURITY COMPANY LONDON). Here in this company existed a dormant account for the past 8 years which belong to an American national, late Mr Roy Howard who died on Alaska Airlines.
When I discovered that there had been neither deposits nor withdrawals from this account for this long period, I decided to carry out a system investigation and discovered that none of the family members or relations of the late person is aware of this account. This is the story in a nutshell.
Now I want an account overseas where the company will transfer these funds. Thereafter, I had planned to destroy all related documents for this account. It is a careful network and for the past eleven months I have worked out everything to ensure a hitch-free operation.
The amount plus all the accumulated interest the balance in this account stands at-(US10.5 million US dollars).
Now my questions are:-
1. Can you handle this project?
2. Can I give you this trust?
3. What will be your commission?
If you can sponsor this transfer, consider this and get back to me as soon as possible. Finally, it is my humble prayer that the information as contained herein is accorded the necessary attention, urgency as well as the secrecy it deserves.
I expect your urgent response if you can handle this project. Please email me for confirmations that you will assist me and i will also appreciate you give me an urgent telephone call for confirmation.
I am expecting your urgent response as soon as you receive my message.
Respectfully yours,
Mr. Kelvin Williams.

TOD:
I have several Holy Grails - "Spartacus" by Alex North (the complete -- or as complete as possible -- score)
"South Pacific" -- entire musical score, including the sensational underscore by Alfred Newman
"Camelot" -- entire musical score, including the sensational underscore by Alfred Newman
"Resurrection" -- my choice as Maurice Jarre's finest, truest film score. The music is amazing for this Ellen Burstyn film.
"Bird of Paradise" -- Daniele Amfietheatrof's vibrant and lovely score for the 1951 film in which he composed original music and adapted some of Alfred Newman's "south seas" themes.

I would say that HHW is the Happiest Place on Earth, but Disney would probably sue. I would also say that you meet the nicest people in the world here, but that logo is used and predominantly painted on the outside of the building of a Harley Davidson sshope in a less than desirable part of downtown Phoenix. Perhaps one day I'll visit the Harley shop and meet the nicest people! :D
But we all are a great bunch, and I'm glad you and this site are here!

I know for a fact CAMELOT's entire score is available, because I have it. I believe I purchased it from the Soundtrack Collector guy who's in LA (BK probably knows him), and it may have been ripped from the DVD--haven't listened for a while. Something in me thinks not, though, because I don't think there's dialogue in the scenes where there would have been had it been ripped from the DVD. Maybe if someone is especially well behaved, they might get a copy. :)

Re: "Camelot", I have several CDs of material all derived from the isolated tracks of the DVD. Some are direct recording and others have been subjected to equalization/noise reduction. I'm thinking more along the lines of a label gaining access to the master recording and doing a fabulous new recording with things properly balanced and spruced up.
But I am always willing to listen to any source that may be different from what I already have.

Yesterday I had some blood tests done. I DO NOT do well at the sight of blood. I showed the nurse my one good vein, saying it would be easier on us both if he used that one.
Me: I'm not going to look <as I turned my head away>.
Him: OK. I won't look, either.
Me: No! You look! I'll faint.
Him: I'll faint, too.
Me: Noooo!
He proved to be quite competent, thankfully, and got it in one. And I was out of there.
;D Nice technician.
-
Sorry... Feeling a bit "distracted" this afternoon... So, for now...
Laters...

So, what do you think? Can he see?

:D Sweet, wonderful video. :)

DR Laura, job well done!!!
-
DR DAW, I'm sad the land has been charred, however the photo is beautiful.
Ah, but from the ashes new growth will rise. Mother Nature will take care if it
-
True, if only it didn't take so long.

I think he can see.
I think he can see too. Maybe not perfectly, but it will get better with time.

Has anyone watched the new show on CW, ONE TREE HILL? DR Jennifer? I'm curious about the song HEART which was used in the season premiere.
Well it's not a new show. It's been on for about 7 years. What about the song? The CW has a website which is i think cwtv.com or something like that.
What did you want to know about it?
-
I'll be working on MEDIUM today, and with luck I should finish by this afternoon or early evening leaving the rest of the evening free. If THE WIZARD OF OZ arrives today, I'll watch that tonight. If not, I'll watch some of this barrage of TV shows cluttering my DVR.
I watched the first 4 episodes of MEDIUM last night. In its 5th year, it's still a very good show.
It is indeed! The scripts are as imaginative and convoluted as ever but the endings are almost always satisfying.
-
My big news is that I came back to work today and decided to do a little drawing of the office I'm interested in. The computer guy saw me there and we talked and walked through the space. He told me that a couple weeks ago another law firm in the building that is downsizing was looking at the space. He didn't know if they were interested, but they were definitely looking. So I decided to call the building manager and make sure I will get the space. I knew that the office phone number rings on her cell, but pretended I didn't know that and had just planned to leave a message on her phone, lol.
Anyway, she went over the changes that need to be made, new carpet, new paint, a new air conditioner, adding a kitchenette, a new entrance and a few other things. Since I don't want any major rebuilding (I like the layout) she said she'll have to get back to me but that the rent would definitely be competitive - we took the time to discuss the market and what is competetive. I've done the figures and if the rent is in the range I think it will be it will be a done deal. She's very excited about it and said that I'm a very good tenant and she'd like to do some extra things for me.
I am extremely happy and think I'll go up there and sit for a minute before I go home.
-
I agree. I'd love to have UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE.
-
DR Jane i see the song you listed here:

-
I got a bunch more MEDIUM episodes watched, and I got to the last disc in the set and am halfway through the first of the episodes on the last disc. This is the one that brought Anjelica Huston back to the show. I really loved this episode.
-
This morning i watched last night's MEDIUM. Very odd case (featuring ariel the oldest daughter).
It was good. Although i'm curious if anyone else felt that things could have been explained a bit better towards the end. There was one jump in scenes that i did not find was explained enough for me.

The song was HEART & I'm curious if anyone would have seen it.
Every one in a while I check the website of our neighbor from Michigan & saw a post that her song would be on the show. I would have recorded the show to see how it was used. She was in Craig's grade & her older brother was at Bryan's wedding. I also noticed on her blog that I watched an episode of Castle last season & didn't know to listen for another of her songs. I'll will try to check this more often.
-
I really enjoyed revisiting the episode with Allison's stalker who swore to kill her, and after he was killed, began lousing up her dreams so she'd report false information to the police and thus become irrelevent.
-
While I ate lunch, I watched Thursday night's GREY'S ANATOMY. Shed a few tears and enjoyed the wonderful performance of James Frain who played a schitzophrenic with Adrienne Barbeau as his concerned mother. They were wonderful together.
-
DR Jane i see the song you listed here:

Thanks DR Jennifer. I didn't know shows did that. I'll have to check CASTLE.

DR Cilla GOOD OFFICE VIBES & FINGERS CROSSED IT HAPPENS!
-
We have not watched the MEDIUM episode yet.
-
I find I will have some free time on my hands tonight, but since THE WIZARD OF OZ did NOT arrive in the mail today, I'll have to use that time watching some of the other programming on my DVR.
Needless to say I was frothing at the mouth in anger over not getting OZ today. I kind of thought I wouldn't get it, however. I don't think my mailman likes to deliver packages on Saturday, but that didn't stop me from hoping.
Alas, for naught.
-
We have not watched the MEDIUM episode yet.
Neither have I. I thought since I was spending two days watching last year's MEDIUM episodes, I'd take a break at lunch and watch something else.
-
Vibes for DR JOSE to become stracted.
-
Time to head out! See you all tonight.
Where are we all supposed to be tonight?
-
I've got to write for a little while. Then I'll head downstairs to finish MEDIUM and then find some other things to watch.
WBBL.

Back from the long jog and listening anew to the score that has some wow and flutter problems - so far it's not as bad as I feared - at this point it involves only four tracks, one of which is source music, so I don't care. One other I can salvage two-thirds of (only the first ten seconds is bad, and there's a perfect edit point to start the track), so right now it's really only two tracks we'd lose, for a total of under four minutes. One I don't really care about, but the other is a pretty variation on the main theme, but then again we have many, many variations on the main theme so if that's all I end up losing we'll be in fine shape and I think the score will run well over an hour.
-
Home from the 3rd funeral in 3 days, it never rains but it pours. Usually, I don't know they people, today's picture looked really familiar. I'm horrible with faces unfortunately. The guy was once a bassist for Eddie Money. Maybe his picture looked like every other pop musician from the 70's, I don't know, I just do my job.
Now, to put on some music and pack for Walt Disney World. We leave tomorrow after a whirl wind of work and the final show of The Full Monty and then more work (evening Mass), then it's on the plane at 10:45pm.
-
Vibes for DR JOSE to become stracted.
Thank You, DR JRand. Getting there. Slowly, but surely getting there. Alas...
-
DR Matthew, sorry about the funerals.
HAVE A GREAT TIME AT DISNEY WORLD!!!
-
Good morning, everyone.
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to BK, David, MattH, Kerry, Laura, Cillaliz, Jose, Fred, George, Larry, Ginny, Jane, Jennifer, and anyone else I may have inadvertently missed. Your vibes are much appreciated. Thanks also to those who sent emails and PMs. I value them all.
We value you too more than you know!
-
They didn't have Snoopy. And Sandra nixed the Hannah Montana ones.
Have you seen the Band-aids that look like strips of bacon?!?!?!?! I love that idea!
-
I think he can see.
I think he can see.
Yeehaw! Hurray. At wast!
-
DR Matthew - A red-eye to MCO? Is it a direct flight? -And how soon after you land do you plan to be in the Park? :)
-
Packing clothes took all of 10 minutes. Now to print documents and such.
Listening to Wildhorn's Draciula as it seems to be on my list of shows to MD next year. Sounds like Jekyll and Hyde rejects. Don't get me wrong, I may be the only one around these parts that actually likes Jekyll and Hyde but by listening to Dracula I'm thinking maybe I should chat with the artistic director about the show choice!!!
-
DR Matthew - A red-eye to MCO? Is it a direct flight? -And how soon after you land do you plan to be in the Park? :)
No, red-eye to Atlanta. VERY hard to find a direct flight to Orlando from the west coast. I think we are in at 9:22am. Our first event is the "Hoop De Doo Revue" at Fort Wilderness Resort at 5:00pm. I'm hoping we get into our room early so we can get a nap before the show. (which I've been to and really loved). Then it's the Magic Kingdom for a few hours afterward. If we don't get our room when we get there, we'll probably go to Downtown Disney. I'm looking forward to playing "tour guide" for Eric who has never been before!
-
Woo Hoo! Today is my lucky day! I went to the Lions Club pancake breakfast and bought the usual 6 raffle tickets for $5. When I got home there was a phone message telling me I won a $100 gift card to HyVee, one of our local grocery stores. I have to meet them tomorrow to have a photo taken at the store and get my card. Cool beans. I like the way October is starting
-
I've finally made it to Brooklyn and staying with my parents right now. I'll have to go to Times Square for the New York Motor Club impromptu car show and then a trip to see Jason Graae.
-
We just came back from the People to People orientation meeting. Gabe was nominated to be a student ambassador with a trip to England, France and the Netherlands next summer. Betsy and I are of course excited beyond words. Gabe couldn't care less. Sigh.
-
DR Cillaliz - It looks like your October really is getting off to a good start! Congrats on everything.
-
DR JMK - Congrats to your unexcited DS Gabe! -Will this trip be covered financially by the school, organization? or by you? ;)
-

If you're taking the trains in from Brooklyn, be sure to double-check www.mta.info for the service changes this weekend. It's another one of those "weird" ones where this line is running on that line, and/or not running at all.
Have a great time at the Metropolitan Room tonight with Mr. Graae!
-
DR Jane, thanks for the vibes. I've run the numbers and although I haven't heard exactly what she's going to come in with for a final rent price, it's very clear to me we're already in the same ball park and in a range I can live with. She's already planning on me moving in way before my current lease expires. So although technicaly not a done deal, it really is.
She made it clear she doesn't want me to leave the building and and even said that me moving in there is very good for the whole building (renting a larger space will help their square foot vacancy rate go down and increase the perception that they are a good building to be in- she didnt' say that, but that's what she meant - and she has someone in mind for my current space)
I told her to remember all that when coming up with my rent amount
-

I remember one trip to Orlando where I arrived at MCO around 8:00am, and I was checked into my room on campus and in the Magic Kingdom by 9:30am! It was soooo nice having a full day in the parks on my first day there instead of just a half-day. -Needless to say, I slept very well that first night.
*If they happen to be giving out recipe cards again this year around the Epcot lagoon, well... ;)
-
We just came back from the People to People orientation meeting. Gabe was nominated to be a student ambassador with a trip to England, France and the Netherlands next summer. Betsy and I are of course excited beyond words. Gabe couldn't care less. Sigh.
congrats to Gabe. Sounds like a great summer
-
DR Kit Lo, have a wonderful NYC visit!
-
DR Cillaliz - very exciting reading about your potential move. And so great that business is doing well enough that you need a larger office!
-
DR Cillaliz - It looks like your October really is getting off to a good start! Congrats on everything.
Thanks DR Jose! And all right before I take a vacation next week with my parents in Wisconsin. I'm really looking forward to seeing Adam SunDee and little Gabe AND to next Saturday when SunDee and I will spend the day at Taliesin.
-
There are scholarships available, though I'm not sure we're destitute enough to qualify, LOL. There are academic scholarships available which I'm sure Gabe would qualify for. Otherwise, you're on your own to pay for it, though we're more than willing to do that for the experiences it will afford him.
-
DR Matthew, in case you don't get a chance to see them tomorrow with your busy schedule:
~~~SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~
FOR DR MATTHEW AND HIS DP ERIC!!!!!
-
What a wonderful oppourtunity for DS Gabe!!!!! :D
Blasé is the new black.
-
Laura DR - it sure looks like he can see to me! :)
-
DR Cillaliz - very exciting reading about your potential move. And so great that business is doing well enough that you need a larger office!
Thanks DR DAW. I'm excited. Also a little scared about the increased commitment but very excited. Some may think it's a bit premature to make this move, but I really don't. I'm confident it will pave the way for the future.
MAY SOME OF MY GOOD LUCK SPREAD TO ALL ON HHW WHO NEED IT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, I need to run to Petco. Completely forgot to stop for foor for the girls... YIKES!!
While I ate lunch, I watched Thursday night's GREY'S ANATOMY. Shed a few tears and enjoyed the wonderful performance of James Frain who played a schitzophrenic with Adrienne Barbeau as his concerned mother. They were wonderful together.
I watched "Grey's" this afternoon too. A very good episode, although I thought the "desperation" regarding the hospital merger was a bit overdone - but I think that's just due to the somewhat hazy span of time covered between last week's season premiere and this week's episode.
-
I also watched the season premiere of "Private Practice"... WOW! What a good episode. The writers have really set quite a high bar for themselves right off the bat for this season. -At least, IMHO.
-
Ok, I need to run to Petco. Completely forgot to stop for foor for the girls... YIKES!!
Run, aliz-a, run!
::)
MAY SOME OF MY GOOD LUCK SPREAD TO ALL ON HHW WHO NEED IT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That would be a very good thing for all of us.
-
And as for "Survivor", well... I'm just wondering when and if you-know-who's cover will get blown. -And, I only say "you-know-who" since I can't remember you-know-who's name right now.
-
I told her to remember all that when coming up with my rent amount
:) I hope she does.
-
Tell him they have lots of Bernese Mountain Dogs in the Netherlands.
I'm shocked at his reaction. Congratulations, I'm sure it will be a fantastic trip. What is the size of the group that will go?
-
DR Kit Lo, have a wonderful NYC visit!
DITTO! This is a great time of year to visit NY, best of all you don't have to pay the high hotel fees. :)
-
DR Matthew - Do know if the director of Dracula is planning to have Lucy's nightgown "sucked" away leaving her in the all-together just like in the original Broadway production? *Thankfully, Kelli O'Hara's career was not sidelined by that bit of directorial indulgence.
-
DR Kit Lo, have a wonderful NYC visit!
DITTO! This is a great time of year to visit NY, best of all you don't have to pay the high hotel fees. :)
Well, since the UN is still in session, the hotel rates aren't exactly that reasonable right now, but... A friend of mine who is town this week for business was booked into a room at the W Times Square since it turned out to be at the same rate as the "cheap hotel" on the East Side that her company normally books uses.
-
I'm not sure if any other DRs are watching the current season of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta", but... Kandi Burruss' former fiancé, AJ Sewell, was killed in Atlanta last night during a fight in the parking lot of a strip club. He's appeared on "RHWA" a couple of times, and I'm wondering just how the show is going to acknowledge his passing, and whether they're going to re-edit the remaining episodes.
-
OY! I guess I have watched a lot of TV over the past 72 hours. ;)
-
OK - Time to log off for a bit, turn off the computer, turn off the TV and get back to the real world for a bit.
Laters...
Got the food....got the cat grass....fed the girls....phew!
Subversive children's book: Roy and Silo have a baby
(http://v5.gay.ge/data/image_db_innova/and-tango-makes-three-300.jpg)
A lovely book-- and one I've given to a few friends!
Henry Cole, the illustrator of this book, has also done the same for the cat story, LITTLE BO, written by Dame Andrews in1989. You had to know!
-
I know for a fact CAMELOT's entire score is available, because I have it. I believe I purchased it from the Soundtrack Collector guy who's in LA (BK probably knows him), and it may have been ripped from the DVD--haven't listened for a while. Something in me thinks not, though, because I don't think there's dialogue in the scenes where there would have been had it been ripped from the DVD. Maybe if someone is especially well behaved, they might get a copy. :)
"Well behaved"!!
Coming from DR JMK, that statement is quite hilarious! :D
-
Kerry, are you getting a flu shot tomorrow? I have the fun bandaids and the lollipops.
;D ;D ;D ;D
-
They didn't have Snoopy. And Sandra nixed the Hannah Montana ones.
Disney won't be pleased!
Oh I have been a "hero member" already many moons ago, but I did re-join not too long ago, so ...
-
Let the fireworks begin!
Over the World Showcase Lagoon? :D
DR Jane, if you knew the context of when the song was played i might remember it. Although they play a lot of music on the show. Two of the lead characters (hayley and mia) are singers. So the song you mentioned could have been sang by one of them.
I thought the show would be available for viewing on the CW website. But i think they only keep the last 2 episodes.
-
DR Jose, the creepy brilliant liar on SURVIVOR is named Russell.
He sure is interesting. I'll give him that.
-
Btw, have any DRs watched the new show THE GOOD WIFE. I did not really think i would like it. But i just watched the first show and I thought it was really really good. I am getting ready to watch the second episode.
Home Alone...
These people were always finding water all over their pool deck and furniture, every time they came home, after being away for a few hours. They thought the neighbourhood kids were watching for them to leave, and using the pool. However, they could never catch them doing it. So, they set up their video cam and left.
THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lEWtzZP1cg) is what they found out!
Hi.
Happy Saturday night.
-
Hi Sam.
-
Some Saturday night entertainment, a fantastic video from National Geographic.
-
Hi Sam.
-
DR Laura I just watched the video of Michael again. It is such a joy to see him playing with the feather toy. I love gray cats with white trim around their eyes.
-
I'm baaaaaaaack from Philadelphia! It was a great day, sunny and cool, so the rain predictions were wrong and the umbrella was unnecessary. We had a very liesurely lunch at the Four Seasons Hotel, followed by a 6 block walk to Rittenhouse Square. We walked around the various market booths set up on the edge of the Square before setting down on a bench in the Square for a bit. Around 3:15 we walked to the Academy of Vocal Art for the concert, which began at 4. The guy who runs this operetta program is a bit of a frustrated ham who uses the events for his performance as well, which is a pity. The singers appear to be ADA students who need, as I believe the Jiulliard and Manhattan Schools of Music do as well, an operetta program to get them used to acting, dealing with spoken dialogue and singing legibly in the English language. One of the tenors apparently never learned his music and sang a lot of wrong notes, while the other tenor was quite good. The baritone was handsome with a strange placement of vowels; his "Forward Forward the lily banners go" in the Song of the Vagabonds was marred by the pinched vocal sounds on "Forward." Otherwise the voice was quite nice. One soprano was fantastic, with good diction and she was wonderful whenever she appeared, especially on "Look For the silver Lining." The other soprano, Mexican or Latin American, sang totally on vowels and could have been singing Victor Herbert in Esperanto for all I know. The third lady was a soprano of dubious age whose voice and figure were on the wane and who had a lot of fans in the audience. She had the funniest number, "Cleopatterer" from LEAVE IT TO JANE and had no idea how to perform it. I doubt any of the singers had a clue on where their music originated or the original reason for the song to be sung,which I think is a necessity. Still, I'm glad we went.
The bad news is that there was no check in the mail yet from the recording, but I did get a check from FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I guess my health insurance premium won't bounce now.
-
DR elmore I'm glad you had such a nice day, and you can pay your health insurance payment. :)
-
Glad you had a great day, Elmore.
-
Elmore, are there any bagpipes in Finian's Rainbow?
-
I got the rest of the MEDIUM episodes watched including that harrowing season finale as Allison struggles to stay alive long enough to see the killer and prevent her family from getting wiped out. It was very tense viewing the first time it was shown, and it was just as riveting tonight as I watched it.
-
Also watched the various bonus featurettes. Maria Lark went around interviewing various producers and assistants for her featurette.
There was a good overview of the season that lasted almost half an hour.
And Jake Weber interviewed Patricia Arquette for over 20 minutes in the manner of Charlie Rose. Funny and informative.
-
Next, I started on this week's HEROES. I got halfway through the episode and lost complete patience with it. I am definitely considering dropping the show completely and will decide overnight if I want to continue with it. If I do, I'll have to find it On Demand since I deleted the show from my DVR.
-
So, I picked PROJECT RUNWAY to watch. I despise team challenges, and this one was no different. I wasn't wowed by any of the designs, but the one which won was certainly OK. I was very scared about the elimination this week, but was glad about the final choice. My heart went out to the person who finished next-to-last.
Next I watched THE OFFICE from this week. I agree with DR MBarnum that it wasn't one of the strongest episodes of the show. It began very well, but most of the episode was a lot of petty yammering back and forth and not much of it was funny. I also despised Pam getting taken at the end of the episode.
One of the most disappointing episodes of the series ever for me.
-
I still have many, many shows on the DVR to watch. Thank goodness there was no PSYCH or MONK this week, or I'd be even farther behind than I am.
-
I guess I will work on THE PROPOSAL tomorrow. That should leave me with Monday free to watch THE WIZARD OF OZ on Blu-ray IF IT COMES.
-
Elmore, are there any bagpipes in Finian's Rainbow?
No, dear; they're all in Brigadoon. We do have a harmonica!
-
When have I ever misbehaved to you, you little French piece of....
Oh, never mind. ;D
Gee whiz!
I am so glad I don't understand English!! :D
-
The other soprano, Mexican or Latin American, sang totally on vowels and could have been singing Victor Herbert in Esperanto for all I know. The third lady was a soprano of dubious age whose voice and figure were on the wane and who had a lot of fans in the audience.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Going to tidy up my computer desktop and then head down to bed.
Good night!
Good Evening!
I'm back from a trip up to Yonkers where I enjoyed the company of some "opera folk" at a great Irish pub, Rory Dolans. I also had one of the best hamburgers I've ever had - they make them from the steak trimmings, and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. -And the fries were good too. As were the $6 "black & tans" and martinis. -I just had a pint, but, still, $6 for a martini? -Definitely not in Manhattan anymore. ;)
-
DR elmore - Glad to hear that you such a fun and entertaining time in Philadelphia. -And that your Finian's check arrived. *I'm guessing that your Finian's checks are cut with the rest of the production payroll, so I'm also guessing that you have the option to pick up your check directly from the company manager rather than having it put in the mail. Whenever I sub in, I always ask for my check to be held at the theatre since the mail in my 'hood can be quite variable from time to time.
*Remind me to ask you about a certain opera singer who had to be bought out of a contract the next time I see you. I may need you to corroborate some "news" I heard earlier tonight.
Let the fireworks begin!
Over the World Showcase Lagoon? :D
Feux d'artifice!
With just a few more posts, DR François will become a HHW HERO MEMBER!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)
Oh I have been a "hero member" already many moons ago, but I did re-join not too long ago, so ...
I don't watch "The Office" regularly, but a bunch of my friends do, and it seems that everyone thought that this week's episode "sucked".
-
Next, I started on this week's HEROES. I got halfway through the episode and lost complete patience with it. I am definitely considering dropping the show completely and will decide overnight if I want to continue with it. If I do, I'll have to find it On Demand since I deleted the show from my DVR.
The really bad cello "playing" provided me with a good laugh.
Yep... It just keeps on trickling down... -or has been trickling for a while....
Oh yeah, you are right!
The "graduations" were different then!
My natural modesty (!) prevented me from remembering that once I was a god!! ;)
(Only at HHW one could be a god!)
Kerry, are you getting a flu shot tomorrow? I have the fun bandaids and the lollipops.
Most likely. I usually don't but have been around too many people lately who have been sick with one thing or another. We'll see.
Don't ask me why, but I am just so fond of the name "Pasadena".
I also like that wonderful Pasadena Roof Orchestra.
Back from a fabulously fabuloussssss dinner with Miss Karen and her ever-lovin' Cason at Genghis Cohen. We ate ourselves silly (steamed sole, orange chicken, green beans, lettuce wraps - a Miss Karen fave - pickles and slaw, crackerjack shrimp, and some other chicken dish. We laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. Tales were told, ears must have been burning, and it was all just delightfully delightful.
Remember I said that a home-grown DVD of the film Holy Grail we're doing was on its way? Well, I suddenly had the bright idea to search it on YouTube and the entire film was there in eleven parts. So, this afternoon, I watched it, figured out where the cues went, titled them, and that's a real jump on things as I now have a very clear edit map. There were three cues that weren't in the film at all, but since the score seems otherwise to be in order, I put them where they would have gone had they been used, and it's fairly obvious what scenes they would have been used for, and I suspect there were a couple of discarded scenes along the way, hence the discarded cues. And there are three source cues that I'm not using (I'm maybe using two - haven't decided yet - one for sure). What a movie - I was misty-eyed for most of it.
DR DAW - Did you come across this article in today's NY Times?
The High Price of Being a Gay Couple (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/03/your-money/03money.html)
:-\
-
Sorry, DR JoseSPiano. Try THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQgjmMVqUPw)!!
(And dig the cute cameo by the NY Phil's new music director!)
-
Yep, and thanks. Saw that article this morning and printed it out for further review.
I used to have a big crush on Gil Shaham. Well, I still do. ::)
Why don't you have Josh introduce you? ;)
-
Either Laura DR is up feeding the kittens, or she is watching a new episode of COPS...
PAGE 9!!!!
Not so bad for a Saturday in October!
-
Why don't you have Josh introduce you? ;)
Josh? Hmmm... I think you mean somebody else. ;)
-
Either Laura DR is up feeding the kittens, or she is watching a new episode of COPS...
Of course, I'd love to see DR Laura on "Cops". -She could take the crime scene photos. Or she could be the "nosey neighbor" with the pixelated-out face in the background. ;)
-
Well, I have to get up and sing in the morning. Guess I'd best retire for the evening. Again.
Smooches, kids! :)
-
As for film scores, if it wasn't for Krtizerland, I would be clueless.
Me, too.
-
Finally caught up! So many pages! :)
-
I'm glad Kritzerland is helping to introduce some dear readers to film music. When it's good, it simply cannot be beat and I am here to tell you we've got some goodies comin'.
-
I started watching the Bravehart Blu-Ray. I have not seen the film - I had no interest in it at all back when it came out, but I'm finding it enjoyable, if a little bloody.
-
And...
Goodnight.
-
We just came back from the People to People orientation meeting. Gabe was nominated to be a student ambassador with a trip to England, France and the Netherlands next summer. Betsy and I are of course excited beyond words. Gabe couldn't care less. Sigh.
Congrats! And good luck!
-
DR elmore I'm glad you had such a nice day, and you can pay your health insurance payment. :)
Ditto!!
-
Today, I went to work for a couple of hours and then met with some friends to see "Zombieland," starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, and as himself, Bill Murray. I didn't know anything about it, other than that it was a zombie movie. It was very funny! If you liked "Shaun of the Dead," I think you'll really like this.
And since we're so close...
DR Matthew, sorry about the funerals.
HAVE A GREAT TIME AT DISNEY WORLD!!!
WALT Disney World if you please! ;)
HA! I just corrected the DP for the same thing!
The docs and boarding passes have been printed. Now it's time for bed. I may get up earlier than usual and try and get a few things done before I leave for work. I have a small window of time when I actually get home and we have to turn around and leave for the airport, so I might be able to put a few things off. However, the important stuff is done.
