Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wild and party-like, and now it is time for you to post until the Academy Award-winning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GUERDON!
-
Today, I
hope plan to put up some shelves for my DVDs...and finally get some DVDs and CDs out of my garage. :) And then I can start to clean out my garage so that I can park my car there. I've got a lot of stuff in there that I can get rid of. I just need to do it. But the garage will have to wait. Tonight's the Oscars!!
;D

I have to say I found this week's episode difficult to watch on many levels. It's often disturbing to watch people who portray rapists or pedophiles. But for it to be lee's brother. And for the actor to be so good at his part. And then the ending was almost show changing. But having one of the show's main characters/moral compasses do something illegal. The way they did the end was interesting. I"m sure a lot of people were like "did he just do what i think he did?" I think that part was interesting. Because it's thought provoking. I will be curious if they bring this up again. It seems like most medium episodes are self-contained. And they don't necessarily bring up cases from past shows. So i will be curious to see what they do here. one the one tow two one to wooeo oi i oui oui oui oiu

I probably won't get to post much today. I am going out and then to babysit. And then TAR and the Oscars. And when they are over it will most likely be around midnight. I wonder if Steve martin and Alec baldwin will be funny? I also wonder if they will be doing most of their schtick together.
-
I am also anxious to see what everybody is wearing. Although I'm guessing i won't get to see much of it. Although I noticed one station that seems to have some sort of red carpet coverage for 2 hours. So maybe ...
-
I shall have to await the Oscar choices of others, since I did not see many of the films this year....nor did I want to.
-
But to start the ball rolling on this Oscar Day: let's have Movie Title/Slogan change up day.
Change a letter or word in a movie/title or slogan to create your own film.

Best Director- Kathryn Bigelow

Good morning, all! I wanted to sleep late but my mind kept telling my body, drag yourself outa that bed and do the laundry. And so I have.
Last night I saw YANK!, which is a wonderful new musical about gay men and women in WW2. I think a lot of the background may be based on a book or documentary called COMING OUT UNDER FIRE, but David Zellnik has written a very tight libretto and lyrics about an 18 year-old soldier who grows up during the war, falls in love, keeps a journal which leads to disaster, and has a strong influence on an 18 year-old boy 60 years later. Some of his scenes are really wonderful. The music and orchestrations for the 5-piece ensemble are by his brother Joseph. I like the score and I think he gets a lot of sound from the five players.
I think the show is in much better shape than it was when I saw it at the Gallery Players in Brooklyn two years ago, but it stll retains the three wnderful leads: Jeffrey Denman, who also choreographs, Nancy Anderson, playing every woman in the show, and Bobby Steggert, who's perfection as the young soldier and a young man 60 years later. The rest of the cast is equally wonderful, with good direction by Igor Goldin. I wish it much success.
At the York, I got to visit with my friend Jim Morgan, the director of the company, who introduced me to one of the show's producers, to Marc Kudisch who was seeing the show, and to the musical director John Baxindine. I saw my friend Bridie, who's on tour with GREASE at the moment; she and her date were there to support a friend in the cast. My friend Chris, whose health problems seem to be over and I thank the HHW Vibes for a lot of his improvement, bought a YANK! T-shirt. Then we went to the Brooklyn Diner: he had Chilean sea bass and I had the lasagna; it was either that or the mac & cheese for a pasta craving.
Today, I'm copyng out a cello part for a rehearsal tomorrow, a bass part for one of Kevin Spirtas' numbers for this Bocca Raton gig, and having lunch with my friend Joseph Rubin. And laundry.
I may be mostly E&T tonight; I've lost all faith in the Oscars, I've seen next to none of the nominations, and I wll probably avoid the broadcast. I hope everyone watching has a fantastic time.

I totally agree with Jennifer as to who I think WILL win:
Best Picture - THE HURT LOCKER
Best Actress - Sandra Bullock
Best Actor - Jeff Bridges
Best Supporting Actress - Monique
Best Supporting Actor-Chris Waltz
Best Animated Feature - Up
Best Director- Kathryn Bigelow
However, I'd really LIKE to see INGLORIOUS BASTERDS take Best Picture, Tarantino get Director and Christopher Plummer snag the Supporting Actor award.
But, I'll be satisfied if it goes as Jennifer and I predicted.
Actually, anything just as long as AVATAR doesn't win Best Picture.

I second both DRs Jennifer and Druxy with these predictions. I would be really surprised if it goes any other way, though I have to say in my heart of hearts, I'd love to see Meryl Streep win her third Oscar. That would make the night for me.
-
Good morning!
A brisk, cold morning, so I had an enjoyable walk. I slept like the dead, so I felt like I was partly asleep through the first third of the walk. Gorgeous day here with temps in the 60s.
-
I'll be working on DAYS OF HEAVEN on Blu-ray for my work project this afternoon. That should set me up nicely to be present for the Oscar posting here later.
-
I'll probably watch last night's CASTLE rerun while I eat lunch today. At some point today, I'll get to THE OFFICE from Thursday night.
I don't think there is anything else on the DVR.
-
Yes, CBS is not lying down and playing dead for the Oscars tonight. There is a new AMAZING RACE and a new COLD CASE at 10.
-
T.O.D.
I don't believe there will be any surprises in the Acting Categories:
BEST ACTOR: Jeff Bridges
BEST ACTRESS: Sandra Bullock
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Christoph Waltz
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Mo'Nique
I would like to see one or two surprises, but I am not holding my breath.

I thought we might get a good jump on our posting throughout the day....ah well.

The Good the Bad and the Beautiful.

I've got a few things to tidy up in terms of office matters and then I'll head down and start cooking lunch. I've been running behind this morning (not a good sign for Oscar day).

I have one award that I would really like to see win.
In the Dcomentary Short category is a film:
"The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner" -- Booth Gardner is the former Governor of Washington State (he was my boss) and a very nice man. The film is about his personal fight against Parkinson's Disease, and his campaign to Legalize Assisted Suicide to Washington.
-
I'll pop in later, but I, too, will be skipping the Oscars. Y'all have a great time!
-
What Jose does if a person at an audition has a mother named Rosemary:
Play for Rosemary's Baby
-
The title of a jerry Herman song for an Ira Levin musical:
Hooray for Rosemary's Baby

Good Morning! Good Day!
I'm up, I'm up... And I think I'm one of the only people in Lexington right now who is NOT at the UK basketball game.

What Jose does if a person at an audition has a mother named Rosemary:
Play for Rosemary's Baby
Well, I did play for "Avocado Pitt" last month.
-
DR Elmore - Yes, that is sad news about the passing of Philip Landridge. I shall have to listen to some of his Schubert on my iPod today.
-
JRand & Cilla, thank you. I am happy to say I made it through the night without incident. I wasn’t sure at first that I would.
-
And I will be missing most of the Oscar night festivities tonight too since I shall be in transit from 6:08 to 10:37 (with a very brief stopover in CLT), weather and equipment readiness permitting.
-
I am not a fan of lists or awards for worst dressed, worst film, etc. I gotta say Sandra Bullock handled winning the Razzies with real class & humor.

And now, time for me to wander...
Laters...
-
I do not understand anyone missing OUR Oscar Bash, but people will do what they must, I suppose.
-
I'm up after a pretty good night's sleep and shall await the arrival of Cason.
-
I'm perplexed by the comments on that site that Ms. Bullock was being self-deprecating. While very smart and funny and classy that she showed up, she sounds more defiant and questioning their judgment than self-deprecating, and seemed to be saying that she did the best that she could given the dialogue, at least from this quote:
"I’m willing to go page-by-page through my dialogue, so we could be here a while. I will read it like the way I read it in the film and then anyone who wants to give me a line reading of how I could have done it better… So we could do this till about four o’clock in the morning. Or you guys could re-watch the movie and re-think your decision and I will show up next year and then we can all go drink afterwards.”
-
Since the Oscars start at 8:30, maybe I will watch 30 minutes of THE AMAZING RACE.....and maybe more. I don't think I will miss the ego-fest that Steve and Alec will bring to the Hosting Chores.....with the emphasis on the latter.
-
DR FJL - you may have something there.
I have never met an terrible actor who really thought he was terrible....and it's the worst ones who won't take ANY suggestions or criticism.
Not that I put Sandra Bullock in this category - but .... well ... if the shoe fits.....
As was written here earlier - it wouldn't bother me if Ms Streep took home her third award.
-

I did not repeat "self-deprecating" I too didn't get that. I thought she was very funny & obviously the audience agreed.

I didn't realize that attending BK's Oscar Bash had anything to do with either or liking or hating the Oscar telecast. In the past it has been a good excuse for being snarky, bitchy, and irreverent while enjoying the living room of our host, goging ourselves with ham chunks and cheese slices, and getting slightly tipsy on Diet Coke.
Why would anyone stay away, just because they like or hate the Oscars?
-
Oscar Madison?

This is exactly the point and I really do not understand why it's happening - it's almost willful and I just don't get it. It's an annual party where we all have a great time. And suddenly it's like, oh, I can't be bothered because I don't like the Oscars. SO WHAT? It's FUN. Why be a party-pooper?

Hi everyone.
A really splendid day here today.
Heading back outside to enjoy the sunshine,
but will be back here for the Oscar par-tay tonight.
-
We have finished tracing all the wiring in the house in our ongoing effort to hang sconces.
Would Drunk Dwain happen to be an electrician who worked in Atlanta 15 years ago?
-
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. A very fine day for purging, with the goal of not ending up on an episode of "Hoarders".
-
Hanging the Sconces is a new reality series on HGTV!
-
I am going to watch the first six episodes of Showtime's SPARTACUS while I await the Academy Awards.
-

I like her comedies when she is undercover at beauty pageants.
-
I've always liked Sandra Bullock. She made a film here early in her career and the entire crew adored her. She was very down-to-earth, and seems to have remained so.
-
I will be going to an Oscar Partay tonight at the home of a doc director Greg and I work with from time to time. I don't have much in the way of opinions since we've only seen a few films this year for some reason, but I will be rooting for Randy Newman!
-
Ah, another dear reader in absentia.
-
We've finished addressing the packages - Cason is doing the overseas forms now, then we'll put postage on them, and that will be that. I'll probably go out for a sandwich and do a couple hours of proofing. But I've entered all the other fixes, had a conversation with muse Margaret, and so other than my stuff, it's all done for now. Although, I may write one additional story - if I do, it's actually in two parts, but it's something I should probably include. I'll write it, read it to muse Margaret, and she'll tell me whether it should be added. I know exactly where the two parts will go, and it will add another couple of pages to the book if I end up using it.
-
I Know Where the Two Parts Go.....that is the title of my new surgical guide book.
-
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. A very fine day for purging, with the goal of not ending up on an episode of "Hoarders".
I hear ya!
-
Well, I disagree with the Oscar selections almost as often as I agree with them, but I wouldn't dream of missing the show. It's another fond remembrance of my youth, I guess. I remember my first Oscar broadcast vividly where I was allowed to stay up until the end (which would have been 12-1 a.m. most likely): 1962 when WEST SIDE STORY won as Best Film of 1961.
-
I am going to watch the first six episodes of Showtime's SPARTACUS while I await the Academy Awards.
Woo, boy, that's a lot of blood and guts!
-
I watched the CASTLE rerun while I ate lunch. This was the season premiere episode and was a good episode. Not a huge amount of mystery to it, but it was still an enjoyable episode.
-
Well, I'm off to my sister's house to replace a belt on her vacuum. Then, I'm coming back home to put up shelves, then I'll stock the shelves with my DVDs and then I'm going to put my CDs on my other shelves and then we'll see what happens! ;)
By that time, the Academy Awards will probably be starting.
-
Be back later!
-
Then I watched DAYS OF HEAVEN on Blu-ray. Yes, it's a fine film and the transfer is subtly beautiful. (This is one of the least bombastic Oscar-winning color films ever.) They have a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track that doesn't do a whole lot with the surrounds. Still the front channels get good play with effects and music.
-
I checked out all of the bonus features on the disc. They're all in 1080i even though they're not all that plentiful. Some lovely remembrances of Nestor Almendros.
-
Late this morning, one of the HBO channels showed HELLO, DOLLY! in HD. I got the DVR to record it, and I started watching it after I finished with my work project. I got through the middle of "Dancing."
HBO almost always has the studios reformat widescreen films to 1.78:1, so the Todd-AO framing is spoiled, but otherwise the movie looked very good in HD. I think there are certainly things wrong with the movie, but I can find lots of enjoyment in it despite its flaws.
-
When I go back down, I'll put away the already folded laundry, and then I'll turn on HELLO, DOLLY! and continue watching while I get the laptop set up to participate in the Oscar party later this evening. I doubt I'll come back here until around 6:30 or 7 my time, but I will flip over to either E! or the TV GUIDE channel or one of the other cable channels that has arrivals.
We'll see how the rest of the afternoon pans out.
-
I am also going to a party and I'll bring my laptop with me, but I don't know how much of the telecast I will watch. The party is usually more fun than the show.
-
Good Afternoon!
Greetings from LEX!
-Where I'm currently enjoying "A Late One" (http://www.ale-8-one).
-
I'm going to hop off-line for a bit while I work on the DAYS OF HEAVEN review. Then, it'll be downstairs to do some household chores and get ready to log on from the downstairs venue.

Thankfully(?), it looks like my connecting flight out of CLT is running a little late. So, instead of having 28(!?!?!) minutes to run from Terminal E to Terminal B, I should have 35. Whew? -And since they're supposed to close the doors 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time...
-
In other news...
It was/is a truly picture perfect day here in Lexington. I took advantage of the "extra" hours I had and walked around the Transylvania University campus, as well as the Mulberry Hill and Northside neighborhoods. Some great old buildings and houses. And since it was so nice out, I even had brunch - outside!

For those who were disappointed with the circumstances surrounding the show's most celebrated gay couple (I certainly was let down), we have been assured by the producers that there will be other gay storylines forthcoming.

And I actually just volunteered to get bumped for a quite sizable compen$sation. <fingers crossed>

OK. Review finished and posted, and now I need to head downstairs and get ready for the doings of later this evening.

Sunday evening greetings. I learned a new word today:
Subconjunctival
which is the kind of hemorrhage that send me to the ER at Lima Memorial Hospital after church today.
It's the result of a broken blood vessel in the white part of the eye - in my case, the right eye. I think it has something to do with the blood thinners, but the nurse practitioner who evaluated me says not. We'll see what my own doctor says tomorrow.

I had some lunch, then came home and wrote the new two-part story. I read it to muse Margaret and she reminded me that at some point I actually had the first part in, but just like a two-line version. I have no memory of it, but I must have pulled it for some reason. But she loved the story and absolutely wanted it in the book, so I've just added it - it's four pages total and fun. And since MacKenzie Phillips left it out of HER book, I'm happy to tell it here.
-
Lenny Kravitz looking good in a Tux!!! And his date has on a beautiful dress. Wow!
-
What's the number of E Channel on Direct TV?
-
Oh no! Sandy Bullock went in the wrong direction with her dress AND her hair.
And here is Scar Face Tina Faye.

-
Zac Erron has such nice bed-hair.
-
Ed Asner does not have bed-hair.
-
Thank you, DR JRand - it looks worse than it feels.
-
Ryan Reynolds.....tuxedo. Yes!
But why the fake tan?
It doesn't look like a fake tan on my TV. Maybe your TV needs adjusting.
Maybe YOURS does.....
I thought you weren't speaking to me?
I'm not, but I AM typing at you.
LOL! ;D
-
Where is everybody!!
Well, I just landed in Charlotte. Taxiing and taxiing.
-
I had some lunch, then came home and wrote the new two-part story.
You mean you had sex with John Phillips, too?
-
Anika Noni Rose is dressed beautifully.
-
Zac Erron has such nice bed-hair.
I read he doesn't like to wash his hair. Ewwww!
-
Tyler Perry looking fine!
-
Ryan Reynolds looks just right to me.
-
Hi all! I see the partay already started!
-
Zac Erron has such nice bed-hair.
I read he doesn't like to wash his hair. Ewwww!
When he has me to wash it for him, he doesn't like to wash it himself. ;)
-
I'm switching back and forth between E and TV Guide coverage.
-
I think Sandra Bullock looks stunning.
-
Amanda Seyfried looks like a fairy princess.
-
Tyler Perry looking fine!
Fake tan!
-
Zac Erron has such nice bed-hair.
I read he doesn't like to wash his hair. Ewwww!
When he has me to wash it for him, he doesn't like to wash it himself. ;)
Now I am jealous! Of Zac.

"Today is the Super Bowl of Fashion."
-
HHW is the place to be on Oscar night, though.
Apparently not for elmore or Ben or a few others.
-
I found E channel.
-
PAGE SEVEN
-
I think maybe muse Margaret is misremembering about my having written that. I have the printout of what she got and I couldn't find it. I think I may have told her on the phone and then never wrote it.
-
Jake Gyllenhall looking good...tuxedo.
Miley Cyrus has lousy posture....and she wore her underwear on the outside....
-
I will say our partay has started even earlier than last year. I hate these E channel people.
-
I think Sandra Bullock looks stunning.
Do you have HD?
-
Some of these people standing behind Ryan look like homeless folks right off the street.
-
I just finished HELLO, DOLLY! but I didn't watch it from the DVR. I put in the DVD and upconverted it to 1080p. I liked it better because I wanted the entire frame of the film.
-
I think Sandra Bullock looks stunning.
Do you have HD?
Yes.
-
Some of the dresses tonight certainly seem to have a lot of feathers and plumes and fluff on them.
-
Amanda Seyfried looks like a fairy princess.
Is Amanda Seyfried still with Roy?
-
Oh, Lord, who are these two people commenting on the fashions. Two many "s" words for whoever the male is.
-
Sarah Jessica is looking rather matronly tonight.
-
I think I miss Joan Rivers
-
I thought Jake Gyllanhaal looked very good.
-
Jrand, you are seeing everyone five minutes before I see them.
-
I think I miss Joan Rivers
No, I don't. She was just kind of helpless with ad-lib comments in her last few years. Her mind just isn't as quick any more.
-
Kathryn Bigelow looks beautiful tonight.
-
Miley's mother - not much style.
-
Sarah Jessica and Matthew together on the carpet. I haven't seen them together in a long time.
-
Ryan Reynolds.....tuxedo. Yes!
But why the fake tan?
It doesn't look like a fake tan on my TV. Maybe your TV needs adjusting.
Maybe YOURS does.....
I thought you weren't speaking to me?
I'm not, but I AM typing at you.

What is with SJP's hair?
-
Where is everybody!!
Well, I just landed in Charlotte. Taxiing and taxiing.
You didn't get bumped then?

I Know Where the Two Parts Go.....that is the title of my new surgical guide book.
So glad my surgeon didn't use your book! - A triple by-pass needs three parts.

Kathryn Bigelow towers over RYan!
-
Ryan is jabbering to Sarah Jessica Parker about nothing and let anti-American Helen Mirren walk on by behind him.....she wanted to stop and gave Sarah JP the fish eye....fer shure.
-
What is with SJP's hair?
I didn't like the dress at all.
-
Jrand, you are seeing everyone five minutes before I see them.
It's that HD, DR TCB.
-
What is with SJP's hair?
I didn't like the dress at all.
I don't either....too much someplaces.....Chanel couture?
-
Stanley Tucci got skinny!
-
Always love Stanley Tucci.
-
Where is everybody!!
Well, I just landed in Charlotte. Taxiing and taxiing.
You didn't get bumped then?
Yes he did, but he still caught the plane.
-
I can't wait to see Jake in PRINCE OF PERSIA
-
Directing a Broadway play.....in New York....
Where the hell else would you do it? In Duluth?
-
Charlize Theron's dress :P
-
OK -the dresses are just too strange tonight. Charlize and the boob rings - awful.
-
I can't wait to see Jake in PRINCE OF PERSIA
And vice versa.
-
What is with SJP's hair?
That's how they're wearing it in all the fashionable stables this year.
-
And here they are.....Charlize Theron.
-
Ihave never liked Juliana either as an entertainment reporter or an interviewer.
-
What is with SJP's hair?
That's how they're wearing it in all the fashionable stables this year.
LOL!
-
What is with SJP's hair?

Cue the horse laugh.
-
Holy moley on rye - what is that thing Charlize is wearing. Grotesque. Why didn't she just have the fabric shaped as hands?
-
I can't wait to see Jake in PRINCE OF PERSIA
And vice versa.
Some behind-the-scenes shots of him were so hot they almost caught my computer on fire.
-
I'm eating dessert - peanut butter pie.
-
Ihave never liked Juliana either as an entertainment reporter or an interviewer.
Have you seen her reality show on the Style Network with her husband Bill -- the winner of the first Apprentice show?
-
Holy moley on rye - what is that thing Charlize is wearing. Grotesque. Why didn't she just have the fabric shaped as hands?
LOL. I thought of that nightie with the pink hands Streisand wore in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT.
-
I'm eating dessert - peanut butter pie.
Did you bring enough for everyone?
-
Queen Latifah has a fake tan with a beautiful gown.
-
Ihave never liked Juliana either as an entertainment reporter or an interviewer.
Have you seen her reality show on the Style Network with her husband Bill -- the winner of the first Apprentice show?
No I haven't. I really don't like her enough to even be curious.
-
If what Ryan is saying is true.....white floor on the set.....white stairs....several different levels.....the set designer should be shot.....I hope nobody falls.....
Or if somebody does, it's Miley Cyrus.
-
Holy moley on rye - what is that thing Charlize is wearing. Grotesque. Why didn't she just have the fabric shaped as hands?
LOL. I thought of that nightie with the pink hands Streisand wore in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT.
It's a very expensive modeling outfit.
For whom do you model, the Boston strangler?
-
Thank you, DR JRand - it looks worse than it feels.
Glad you hear that!!! I looked at some photos. It must have been bad to send you to emergency.
-
More than an hour until the Oscars! Oy!
-
SO WHAT? It's FUN. Why be a party-pooper?
I think I'll be reading tonight.
-
I'm eating dessert - peanut butter pie.
Dessert............I remember desserts back before the diet started.
-
I'm eating dessert - peanut butter pie.
Good idea! I think I will have a pint of Ben & Jerry's
-
I am for sure watching half hour of THE AMAZING RACE instead of the NBC Red Carpet mess.
-
Matt Damon looking good in a TUXEDO!!
-
Matt Damon looks nice and clean cut.
-
I forgot to buy anything to snack on during the Oscars. . .does this mean a diet?
-
I Know Where the Two Parts Go.....that is the title of my new surgical guide book.

Glad you hear that!!! I looked at some photos. It must have been bad to send you to emergency.
Oh, I just read about that, Ginny. Sorry you had to spend your afternoon in the ER. Hope it isn't anything too serious.
-
Penelope Cruz looks like a youthful Sophia Loren.
-
Wearing his director's designed tux!
-
Um - Michael Douglas as LIBERACE?
-
I rarely watch this part of the show. I usually tune in for the channel seven coverage.
-
It's almost petulant.
I'm glad you said almost. I doubt anyone is either willful or petulant if they skip the party.
Well, I have a diferent motivation for attending - FEAR! BK does a mean bitch slap.

Of course!!! It's easy breezy!
-
Matt Damon looking good in a TUXEDO!!
Matt Damon would look good out of a tuxedo.
-
Meryl kind of had her say and brished him off.
As only a two time winner can......

Um - Michael Douglas as LIBERACE?
He's had enough face lifts by now to do Liberace justice.

Oh, I just read about that, Ginny. Sorry you had to spend your afternoon in the ER. Hope it isn't anything too serious.
Thanks, DR Julie! Richard drove me there, but had to go back to church to conduct a memorial service. He asked one of our parishioners to follow us and stay with me. She's an RN, retired 2 years ago from that hospital, so we were there only an hour. Waiting for the results of my blood test took the longest. We got back to church in time for the social time after the service.
-
Ginny, I'm so sorry to hear about your day at the ER. I do hope it's not serious.
-
I need to do my exercises. I can promise you staying at the party is far more desirable. Once I leave, I'll never catch up so I will go watch the Red Carpet & some of the awards. I actually remembered to record the red carpet this year.
Have fun.:)
-
She said the dress was iradescent pinkl. It looked light purple on my screen.
-
Um - Michael Douglas as LIBERACE?
He's had enough face lifts by now to do Liberace justice.
He looks terrible in the trailers for WALL STREET 2. . .
-
Thanks, DRs Jane and Laura.

I have a Sweet and Salty Peanut candy bar that I'm saving for later. But it sure is tempting.

Good thinking on Richards part to have an RN stay with you. :)
-
Remind me to tell y'all tomorrow about my idea for a Queen Latifah movie...
-
We also had those Liberace TV-movies years ago, and that was enough. I can't imagine most of today's movie audience will even know who Liberace is.
-
Michael Douglas' father similarly ruined his face with five too many facelifts.
-
Strange beard on Keanu.
-
And, of course, I went from the far end of Terminal E to the far end of Terminal B...
-
I just learned on channel seven that the red carpet is heating up. Nothing worse than a cold red carpet.
-
Remind me to tell y'all tomorrow about my idea for a Queen Latifah movie...
Oh, tell us NOW!
-
And, of course, there is a delay in boarding...
-
Taylor Lautner looking fine.

Taylor Lautner getting lots of closeups.

Has Meryl Streep had cheek implants???
-
Ah, another dear reader in absentia.
I am sorry...
-
8:30 for the show.
-
And ABC should be ashamed of themselves! Interviewing Meryl in a little box, while full screen we have to look at Miley Cyrus.
-
So we have another forty-five minutes of this???
-
So, in the past week, I saw three motion pictures, two of which were ineligible for Oscars this year:
SHUTTER ISLAND, which I like the more I think about it.
THE WOLF MAN, which I like less the more I think about it.
and
CRAZY HEART, which is not a great film, but, has great music and the greatness that is Jeff Bridges.
-
Ah, another dear reader in absentia.
I am sorry...
THIS is the ONLY partay, baby.
-
Robert DOwney is also clean cut tonight.
-
Has Meryl Streep had cheek implants?

They've remade Tron? Just shoot every executive in Hollywood.

Isn't CRAZY HEART just another way of doing TENDER MERCIES. I sounded almost identical to me when I read a summary of the plot.
-
Did you know, for example, that Tron spelled backwards is Nort?
-
Page 11 Dance!!!
-
Neil Patrick Harris to open the show.
-
Robert DOwney is also clean cut tonight.
He and his wife looked terrific. I lloved her striped dress. Not too many people could wear that.

They just said "we're minutes away from the big event." 45 minutes is a lot of minutes.

Best Picture - AVATAR
Best Actress - Meryl Streep
Best Actor - Jeff Bridges
Best Supporting Actress - Monique

Melvyn Douglas?

TENDER MERCIES had a better script and director. . .CRAZY HEART is taken from a novel which I intend to read. . .but, though there are similarities, it is a different story. . .Robert Duvall is integral to both, however.
-
Lordy, I do get skeeved by Quentin Tarantino.

I remember a year when HOFFA was some studio's Christmas release...

Jennifer Aniston is a genius?
The definition must have been refined.

They've remade Tron? Just shoot every executive in Hollywood.
In 3D!

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. A very fine day for purging, with the goal of not ending up on an episode of "Hoarders".
I hear ya!
Purging is good exercise, apparently. I have used every muscle. Owwww. I think it's Miller Time.
-
Why do these do these interviews in a little picture in picture while the screen is filled with other people - it is so disrespectful.
-
They've remade Tron? Just shoot every executive in Hollywood.
Not yet - save that for the Disney TV group's remake of "Singing In the Rain" or the 3D IMAX remake of "Casablanca" starring Mr and Mrs Matthew Broderick.

My girlfriend Darcy edits the Barbara Walters thing every year. And every year I miss it!

Some blood was shed in the Hanging of the Sconces. I got to play nurse and administer peroxide, antibiotic ointment and bandaids.

Kate Winslet - gorgeous!

They just said "we're minutes away from the big event." 45 minutes is a lot of minutes.
It is less than 46.
-
Before this site's existence, I used to host an annual Oscar bash at my home - everyone brought pizza from different places.
-
Miss Dixie Bell is bored. She had another forty minute long run this morning, she napped on my bed this afternoon, now she's asleep next to mum's chair.
-
I'll be reviewing CRAZY HEART when it comes out (if it's on Blu-ray).
-
I do not like the Kodak Theater or its environs.

Now there are two cats fighting with a nice, expensive silk curtain between them. They do not seem to recognize that fact.

The former site of the Hollywood Hotel.
-

I remember when Antonio Banderas was youthful.
-
Oh, Charlize! It just gets yuckier the more you look at it.
-
I fear for the number and length of the commercial breaks this evening.
-
Time to be E & T...
-
Isn't someone suppose to wear that winning gown made by someone on PROJECT RUNWAY last season?
-
HHW is the place to be on Oscar night, though.
Apparently not for elmore or Ben or a few others.
One wishes this were a second or third season "Gilligan's Island" theme, rather than "and the rest." ;)

In our house that would mean fill the water bowl and get out the Milk Bone treats.

I had a turkey sandwich and fries for luncheon. That and the pie are all I'm eating today.
-
Quentin T. is skeevy indeed.
-
Errant and truant behavior on Oscar night. I gotta tell you.
-
They just said again, the Academy Awards are about to begin.
-
I washed Matt Damon's hair, too. ;)

I fear for the number and length of the commercial breaks this evening.
Yep. and the price went up this year to $1.35 million for each 30 second spot. They're sold out, of course.

Are we sure it's not at five?

Page 13 Dance!!!

Are we sure it's not at five?
The ABC red carpet special is then; the show starts at the half hour!!!!!
-
Too many commercials.
-
Oh--btw--I saw ALICE IN WONDERLAND yesterday.
Bleh!
-
Oh, so they call that part of the show? The Red Carpet Special.
-
It is pouring outside.
-
Chris Pine is so handsome.
-
And I have to be up at six to announce our new title. And I have to give my dealers the alert tonight.
-
It rained here for approximately thirty seconds, after which the sun was shining brightly.
-
I have flipped over to ABC.
-
After this little two-part story I just added, I am quite done adding things. But it's a very short and fun little story.
-
I love high definition. E! was not in HD.
-
So now starts the time when ABC has an exclusive on the red carpet. E and TV Guide had to end their coverage.
-
I just loathe these people who host these pre-Oscar things.
-
E looked bad in regular def.
-
Then again, I look bad in regular def. In high-def I'm divoon.
-
Penelope Cruz can still barely speak Engoish.
-
And I have had no face lifts and therefore cannot play Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas OR Liberace Douglas.
-
Penelope Cruz's nomination is a laugh.
-
It was nice to have all five nomninees there.

Oh--btw--I saw ALICE IN WONDERLAND yesterday.

I remember a simpler time, when the Oscars really were an event to watch and there was at least a modicum of dignity about them and the pre-show.
-
That time is past.

I think next year they should have twenty Best Picture slots.
As well as twenty Best Director slots. . . .
-
I have not seen a Sandra Bullock film in years.

Don't give them any ideas.

Did she just say it's "the journey?"

I remember a simpler time, when the Oscars really were an event to watch and there was at least a modicum of dignity about them and the pre-show.

Why stop at twenty?

These people doing the interviews (not the celebs) all sound like fifteen-year-old schoolgirls.

I gotta tell you.

I'm wearing black sweats, Dayton International Peace Museum sweatshirt, and a very patriotic right eye.

I did see District 9 and I agree it was a good film. But it did not match Hurt Locker - which I thought was just extraordinary.
-
So, what's next after the remake of Tron? A remake of Newsies starring all the High School Musical people?
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page fifteen.
-
Sarah Jessica is looking rather matronly tonight.
Did you see the bit with her on Friday night where they did her genealogy

What are you dear readers wearing for our Oscar bash?
Well, since my chest hair restoration jouney is incomplete and Frankenstein scars like fresh air I am wearing an unzipped light grey flannel hoodie.
der Brucer
-
Jeans, Kelly green t-shirt, blue socks, loafers
-
So, what does this Red Carpet portion actually run - about four minutes after all the commercials?
-
My favorite film of the year was Inglourious Basterds.
I did really like DISTRICT 9.
If I were giving the award, though, I would give it to UP, hands down.
-
I've been dribnking water, but I'm thinking I'll be doing diet cherry soda in just a bit.
-
Interviewer to Cameron Diaz: "Hey, girl!" Brilliant.
Same interviewer who spent the George Clooney interview saying she wanted him and would commit to him in front of his girlfriend and then teasing him because his girlfriend doesn't speak English
-
I am wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
-
My favorite film of the year was Inglourious Basterds.
I did really like DISTRICT 9.
If I were giving the award, though, I would give it to UP, hands down.
Of the ones I've seen, so would I.
-
Blue Jeans, a red sweatshirt that says "San Francisco California" and red socks
What would SJP look better in if she wore tonight?
-
Twelve minutes to show time.
-
I wonder what they'll be doing instead of the nominated songs?
-
I liked Whoopi's commercial.
-
I think I'll sing all the nominated songs.
-
They aren't doing nominated songs? That's stupid
-
Ten minutes to show time.
-
Blue Jeans, a red sweatshirt that says "San Francisco California" and red socks
What would SJP look better in if she wore tonight?
A bridle and a saddle.
-
I washed Matt Damon's hair, too. ;)
B - * - * - * - H!
-
Are all commercials loud? Or just these horrifying promos.
-
I wonder what they'll be doing instead of the nominated songs?
I think they're showing clips from the films where the songs appear.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page sixteen.
-
ABC is touting COUGAR TOWN as a family comedy?!?
-
I think I'll sing all the nominated songs.
I think you should sing the entire score of CRAZY HEART.
-
I washed Matt Damon's hair, too. ;)
B - * - * - * - H!
I love you, too. ;)
-
We have quite a ways to go to even get in the top-ten biggest posting days.
-
Mylie Cyrus needs to quit slouching
-
Eight minutes to show time.
-
Oh, Miley!!
17 going on 45.
-
ABC is touting COUGAR TOWN as a family comedy?!?
I don't watch it any more, but I understand it has veered into family comedy territory now.
-
We have quite a ways to go to even get in the top-ten biggest posting days.
Well, we do have a 3 1/2 show ahead of us.
-
ABC is having audio issues.
-
Your husband looks so yummy?
-
Mylie Cyrus needs to quit slouching
Especially since she's so influencial according to TIME magazine
-
Kate Winslet looks so calm and assured and is wearing a stunning dress.
-
Six minutes to show time.
-
We have quite a ways to go to even get in the top-ten biggest posting days.
Well, we do have a 3 1/2 show ahead of us.
Will it never end?
Oh, I guess it just seems like it started hours ago already.
-
"The world is hanging on your every thought" I don't think so
-
Four minutes to show time.
-
Yes, I liked Kate tonight. I wish Meryl had won last year, but she certainly gave a great performance.
-
So, what's next after the remake of Tron? A remake of Newsies starring all the High School Musical people?
Yes - but it will be a Tim Burton picture!
der Brucer
-
TWILIGHT sucks.
-
Okay, this pre-show thing is making me want to vomit on the ground.
-
Do these actors know how stupid they sound?
-
Has Meryl Streep had cheek implants?
-
Meryl looks like she's wearing a bath robe
-
I am wearing Jeans and a light green argyle sweater
-
It looks like she's got baseballs in her cheeks.
-
It's so hard to believe that Meryl has had SIXTEEN nominations.
-
Thank goodness that's over.
-
Thank goodness - it's almost over.
-
It looks like she's got baseballs in her cheeks.
Or something like that
-
Of course, Jeanne can't be bothered to be here - she has SUCH a full life filled with sitting in her apartment like so much fish.
-
And where is Jane?
-
A condor t-shirt and gray sleeping pants.
-
It will be The Wrath Of Kimmel, let me tell you that.
-
Two minutes to show time.
-
Jane had to do her exercises
-
And now - the show.
-
I know, I know. I should be reading. I guess I'm the only one excused from the partay.
-
Will we get to 500 before the show starts?
-
Jess Cagle was kinda cute.
-
See you at the first commercial break, although I have the laptop on in the den.
-
Only a few more
-
maybe i'll scramble some eggs for a snack. . .
-
DR Laura, you are reading here
-
And I think Ginny wins our best dressed contest with her patriotic eye.
-
500 before show time!
-
And now - the show.
No, now more commercials.
-
I know, I know. I should be reading. I guess I'm the only one excused from the partay.
Just read the two new bits, and do the rest tomorrow. :) Or, you're excused because you're not being willful and actually are being helpful.
-
Vibes to Ginny's eye~~~~and the rest of her too!
-
~~~~~DR Ginny Vibes~~~~~~
-
Well, I'm home, but the shelves didn't get put up. I'm watching the Oscars, though and have to catch up on all the posts!
-
And now the show!
-
BK is right--the commercials are LOUD
-
Great idea having all the nominees on stage together
-
That vwas a different opening.
-
Neal Patrick Harris!
-
They should all have to stay up on the stage all night...
-
What was the point of the introducing the actors?
-
Happy Oscars, everyone!
-
Thank god for Neil Patrick Harris. The high point of the show :-)
-
Since the show just started, yes he is the high point so far
-
"House lights!"
-
That was the worst opening in Oscar history, having those actors there.
-
Terrible number
-
Nice number....but what does it have to do with the Oscars?
-
I guess the guy in charge of the sound at the Tony Awards is in charge of the lights tonight at the Oscars.
-
Good number, very entertaining.
-
LOL! SPOILER ALERT.
-
I'm enjoying this routine
-
SOme of these jokes are really funny.
-
Steve and Alec are doing very well!
Damn Helen Mirren.....that's one of the funniest things I ever heard!
-
Bring back Letterman....
Oprah...Uma...
der Brucer
-
I think this is really funny
-
This is going on too long! Bring on the first award
-
Whoa--HD does not like Sandra Bullock
-
If Jeff Bridges dyed his hair and beard white, he could be Colonel Sanders
-
I thought that was one of the best monologue sequences ever at the Oscars.
-
what? What is she saying?
-
Yup really liked the material and presentation....good job, guys!!
-
what? What is she saying?
I think it was Lucy you can't be in the show.
-
I can understand her
-
Christoph has given some stupid acceptance speeches.....if he wins, I hope he just says thanks.
-
No surprise there.
-
I really lioked the opening.
-
I like his acting better than his speeches.
-
Well, I didn't lick it, I liked it.
-
But licking would be good, too, I guess.
-
Yes, strange, but he was fabulous in the film
-
Penelope's dress was a pretty color.
-
My mother made it home... no cancer in the lymph nodes and this is good news...
Not certain yet if she will need radiation or chemo
Great news!
~~~Vibes for a Quick Recovery!!~~~
-
However, DH did get sad news on a freind who was battling cancer VALIANTLY for two years. She passed away peacefully on Saturday. She had cervical cancer.
I'm so sorry to hear about this, Dakota. My condolences. :'(
-
Did you all see that flash across the screen - that Cablevision will let ABCair so viewers could watch the Oscars, while dispute negotiations continue.
-
That looked very movie-of-the-week.
-
Hated the opening with the actors. The Damn Helen Mirran joke was the best thing so far - and I guarantee you it, like the other handful of good jokes, was written by Bruce Vilanch.
-
Sunday evening greetings.
~~~Eye Vibes for DR Ginny!!~~~
-
Really didn't like the musical number - they just took the show and made it look like a Vegas floor show.
-
I'm thinking about making popcorn
-
And the lyrics were beyond hideous - probably Marc Shaiman.
-
Yes, The Blind Side looks totally uninteresting, film-wise.
-
Hated the opening. Hated the song.
-
Very good news about DR DakotaCelt's mom!
-
Thought Alec and Steve were hit or miss. (mostly miss).
-
Had the opening comedy routine been half its length, it would be hailed as one of the best. They don't know when to stop (not them - the writers and producers).
-
Really liked the first win of the evening.
-
THE BLIND SIDE looks rather bland.
-
I didn't see the other nominees - but it seems to me Matt Damon is a leading performer not a supporting player.
-
What is that gawd awful background noise?
-
Looking forward to Barbra Streisand presenting Best Director (in about 4 hours)
-
Cameron Diaz isn't very pretty......
And this animated crap sucks.
-
Looking forward to Barbra Streisand presenting Best Director (in about 4 hours)
But, will she give it to Kathryn?
-
I loved those animation nominations.
-
Two major awards in a row. . . .
-
Thanks, DRs Cillaliz, td, and George.
-
Bravo for UP!
-
No surprise UP!!!!!
-
So glad that Up won.
-
I couldn't be more thrilled.
-
HOwdy Doody just won an Oscar!
-
Hey, we've seen the movies that won the first 2 awards!
-
Pixar has won for its last four films:
THE INCREDIBLES
RATATOUILLE
WALL-E
UP
-
Song this early? ? ? ?
-
The top of Miley's dress looks like underwear.
-
Miley Cyrus' gown by PlayTex.
Posture by Igor the Hunchback.
-
Best Song already?
-
I want T. Bone Burnett to win this one.
-
Song this early? ? ? ?
Might as well since Debbie Allen isn't there to choreograph a montage.
-
I am at work...
-
"Take it All" just cannot compare to "Be On Your Own."
-
Really bad not to hear the entire songs.
-
Feel better soon Ginny....
-
"I love you more than rainbows."
-
Good win!
And here is Chris Pine!!!!!!!!!!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
-
Chris Pine is indeed yummy.
-
Thank you, DR Dakota - glad to hear the news about your mom, but sorry about your DH's friend.
-
DISTRICT 9 does look intriguing.
-
Isn't the Kodak Theater where Val Kilmer WAS Moses?
-
Yes, Chris Pine is VERY appealing.
-
Who is Chris Pine?
-
I'm three for three. This is the first year it would have actually been nice to hear all the songs. Stupid, stupid decision.
-
Next thing, DR MICHAEL S will be asking who is Robert Pine?
-
What is Paris 36????
-
Who is Chris Pine?
Who is Harry Kellerman and why is he saying those terrible things about me? ;)
-
Isn't the Kodak Theater where Val Kilmer WAS Moses?
I didn't think so.
But Val Kilner IS Moses, and always will be!
-
I've never heard of PARIS 36. . . .
-
I'm going to watch District 9 again soon - it really is the best sci-fi film of the last decade - maybe longer.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page twenty-one.
-
I'm three for three. This is the first year it would have actually been nice to hear all the songs. Stupid, stupid decision.
Especially since they didn't SHORTEN the planned running time of the show! Maybe it's a money thing....is there a band around there someplace? I haven't seen it yet, unless they introduced it while I was on The Amazing Race.
-
I'm three for three. This is the first year it would have actually been nice to hear all the songs. Stupid, stupid decision.
I agree. FInally, for the first time in years, it sounded like five REAL songs.
-
Why do they keep cutting to Christopher Plummer at every opportunity.
-
Maybe if they didn't give that extra half hour to that stupid red carpet, they would have had time to have the complete songs performed.
-
I'm going to watch District 9 again soon - it really is the best sci-fi film of the last decade - maybe longer.
Even better than Attack of the 50 Foot Wombat?
-
And I don't really need to see Miley Cyrus on the OSCARS.
-
Why do they keep cutting to Christopher Plummer at every opportunity.
Maybe they're hoping he will keel over from sitting so long.
-
And I don't really need to see Miley Cyrus on the OSCARS.
Or anywhere else for that matter.
-
The sound on the show is awful. However, it looks very good in high-definitions.
-
I've Seen Many ,Many, Many-Did I say Many Academy Award Shows And This regretably is shaping up to be the worst Ever.
-
And I don't really need to see Miley Cyrus on the OSCARS.
Or in her underwear.
-
Long commercial breaks and they're going to get longer.
-
She's a Disney star, and Disney = ABC so no surprise there.
-
And I don't really need to see Miley Cyrus on the OSCARS.
Or in her underwear.
Where do you see that? She's not doing underwear photos is she???
-
Long breaks are the brakes.
-
And I don't really need to see Miley Cyrus on the OSCARS.
Or in her underwear.
Where do you see that? She's not doing underwear photos is she???
No - I was just being snarky. I meant her dress - especially the top of her dress, looks more like an undergarment.
-
Scarface.....but Downey looks pretty good!
-
Give her aclub and she could play bam-bam.
-
The Hurt Locker!!
-
nice speech
-
I would not have recognized Molly RIngwald.
-
Very nice speech.
Somebody smack Jason Reitman in the mouth, please. How can you look so smug without trying?
-
Hello, everyone. I had no idea this partay started so early. I was thinkin 8:30.
-
Couldn't Jud Nelson dress up for the show.
-
In the past, I'd run from the TV in the den to my computer in my office upstairs. Now I'm doing this all online. Much easier!
-
Back to catching up...
-
OMG! EYE VIBES to DR GINNY!
-
I just loved UP!
-
Nice....but what was the point....if you do that for ONE director who passes on.....aren't you slighting many more?
And could Taylor Lautner look any more bored?
The only person looking more bored is George Clooney's "girlfriend."
-
And for my 7,500th posting
Nice John Hughes tribute
-
Thanks, DR Jeanne!
-
I hope the score for UP wins Best Score.
-
Next thing, DR MICHAEL S will be asking who is Robert Pine?
He was on CHiPS
-
I feel like watching UP again
-
I was surprised by the length of that tribute, too, even though it was nicely done.
I'm very glad Up won -- I really loved that one.
-
WHY DO THEY KEEP CUTTING TO CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER???
-
The sound on the show is awful. However, it looks very good in high-definitions.
I totally agree.
-
Hello, everyone. I had no idea this partay started so early. I was thinkin 8:30.
The HHW Oscar Party is practically an all-day affair!
-
As I wrote in today's notes, I was very impressed with District 9, and have been surprised that no one here has commented, which would lead me to believe that no one here has seen it.
I saw "District 9" and liked it very much!
-
WHY DO THEY KEEP CUTTING TO CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER???
Because he looks great in High-Definition.
-
And talking about smug, how about all those YOUNG "actors" they cut to after the Hughes tribute - they looked ever so bored because - wait - THEY DON'T KNOW WHO JOHN HUGHES WAS!
-
Why are they giving out screenplay this early.
-
Both of those are UGLY dresses.
-
DR EDISAURUS that girl is wearing your sconces on her ears!
-
So who is Chris Pine??
-
Are all commercials loud? Or just these horrifying promos.
That's what the mute button is for. :D
-
Robert Pine is Chris Pine's daddy, DR MATTHEW S.
-
Wasn't DEAR DIARY a TV pilot?
-
Both of those are UGLY dresses.
Ain't it the truth.
-
So who is Chris Pine??
The new Cpatain Kirk in STAR TREK.
-
I'm bored.
-
Chris Pine played Captain Kirk in the latest STAR TREK movie, I think.
And he was born on August 26, 1980 - making him a birthdate TWIN with DR JOSE and I!
-
Martin & Baldwin are funny, as were Tina Fey & Robert Downey.
-
DakotaCelt, I'm so glad to hear your mom came through her surgery well. Continued prayers for her while she goes through her treatments.
-
Thunder and lightening here!
-
I loved Martin & Baldwin's "Mother lode" line.
-
Meryl was caught scratching her boobie
-
Martin & Baldwin have some good writers....and except for the opener....aren't overstaying their welcome....and unlike some hosts are NOT making about themselves.....Bravo!
-
Yes, get these awards over now.
-
Meryl was caught scratching her boobie
At least it was her own.
-
And for my 7,500th posting
Nice John Hughes tribute
Congrats on the milestone, DR Michael S!
-
I thought that Tarantino would win screenplay for INGLORIUS BASTERDS.
-
Talk about the mother lode!
-
Get off the stage.
-
Was that Fran Weissler?
-
Hmmm...what was that all about?
-
We never get to see most of these so the awards aren't holding one's attention.
-
Some of those shorts look interesting.
-
Tails!!! Classy!
-
Meryl was caught scratching her boobie
At least it was her own.
Biggest laugh of the night.
-
Some of those shorts look interesting.
i know!!!
Oh...you mean the movies. Never mind.
-
Some of those shorts look interesting.
i know!!!
Oh...you mean the movies. Never mind.
are you sure I meant the movies? ? ?
-
Was that the first "King of the World" joke?
-
Enough of this already. This is just stupid
-
More Chris Pine please.
-
Who is Chris Pine, anyway
-
Not a big surprise there, especially after seeing the clips.
-
Who is Chris Pine, anyway
Chris Pine IS Capt. Kirk. Val Kilmer IS Moses.
-
That girl's dress is cut all the way up to Honolulu!
-
I think that this is the first Oscar any of the Star Trek films have won
-
Ahhhhhhhhh....my mistake DR td.
-
Now if they had called the movie THE OLD VICTORIA, it would have won for Best Makeup
-
I think that this is the first Oscar any of the Star Trek films have won
True dat.
-
Who is Chris Pine, anyway
Chris Pine IS Capt. Kirk. Val Kilmer IS Moses.
I thought Charlton Heston was Moses.
-
I liked Ben Stiller's schtick.
-
That girl's dress is cut all the way up to Honolulu!
You can see the lights of Lower Broadway.
-
I really liked A SERIOUS MAN.
-
Now THAT is tiresome.
-
I'llsee A SERIOUS MAN when it comes on paycable.
-
Ben Stiller has never been a favorite
-
So a 3D TV. Does that mean you have to sit in your living room and wear silly glasses?
-
Who is Chris Pine, anyway
Chris Pine IS Capt. Kirk. Val Kilmer IS Moses.
I thought Charlton Heston was Moses.
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51vtjVfYVRL._SS500_.jpg)
-
I liked Ben Stiller in THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES.
-
Okay, the get out the gun award to that big, ugly woman who interrupted the director of the documentary. Who the HELL was she? They should have brought on a crane and hauled that obnoxious peckerwood off the stage. Disgusting, and a new Oscar low.
-
Yes, for now. Although some TV makers are working on non-glasses 3-D TV. It's years away.
-
So a 3D TV. Does that mean you have to sit in your living room and wear silly glasses?
If you buy the TV and there's actually any 3-D content, then yes, you need to wear the silly glasses...and I'd read that the glasses are $150 EACH!!
-
...and the play is DEAR LIAR and the actress is Mrs. Patrick Campbell.
-
Who is Chris Pine, anyway
Chris Pine IS Capt. Kirk. Val Kilmer IS Moses.
I thought Charlton Heston was Moses.
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51vtjVfYVRL._SS500_.jpg)
Kilmer is a poor man's Moses.
-
I like that dress, but she's slouching...sorry forgot her name
-
Will this be Jason Reitman's win?
-
Okay, the get out the gun award to that big, ugly woman who interrupted the director of the documentary. Who the HELL was she? They should have brought on a crane and hauled that obnoxious peckerwood off the stage. Disgusting, and a new Oscar low.
I don't know about a new Oscar low, but it was obnoxious.
-
What is IN THE LOOP?
-
Will this be Jason Reitman's win?
Yes.
-
But he IS Moses.
-
Will this be Jason Reitman's win?
Yes.
Guess not.
-
Wow! First big surprise of the night!
-
Unbelievable that UP IN THE AIR didn't win.
-
Okay, the get out the gun award to that big, ugly woman who interrupted the director of the documentary. Who the HELL was she? They should have brought on a crane and hauled that obnoxious peckerwood off the stage. Disgusting, and a new Oscar low.
I don't know about a new Oscar low, but it was obnoxious.
I assumed that she was the other nominee/winner for the category...of course, that doesn't excuse her behavior. :P
-
Nope.
I read that book :o
-
Unbelievable that UP IN THE AIR didn't win.
Agreed.
-
That's the first upset of the evening.
-
Weird close-up shot on this acceptance speech.
-
Good line Steve!
-
Queen Latifah looks terrific!
-
Go Roger!
-
Of course, Jeanne can't be bothered to be here - she has SUCH a full life filled with sitting in her apartment like so much fish.
Bruce, I'm HERE! I've been here for almost an hour, reading the posts.
-
The Queen has too much stuff for that dress.
-
And I am wearing jeans and an aqua and white stripe t-shirt with a boat neck. (That last part was for JRand.)
-
Ms. Bacall looks spendid, as always.
-
The first SO of the evening
-
Took the audience a while to decide whether to stand up or not...tacky
-
Lamp shades...
-
What's with the eyebrows, Robin? Whew!
-
I loved Up In The Air
-
I like Vera Famiga.
-
I am finding Penelope Cruz to be arrestingly attractive these days.
-
Maggie could not sustain her accent throughout the film CRAZY HEART.
-
UP IN THE AIR was another favorite of mine this year.
-
I just remember why Robin Williams is presenting this year.
-
No surprise there.
-
Big surprise.
-
Monique gets a S.O.
-
I just remember why Robin Williams is presenting this year.
Previous winner for DEAD POET'S SOCIETY.
-
I haven't seen Precious yet.
-
I am finding Penelope Cruz to be arrestingly attractive these days.
Not me, I've never found her appealing in any English-language performance.
-
I liked Monique's speech.
-
I just remember why Robin Williams is presenting this year.
Previous winner for DEAD POET'S SOCIETY.
No, he won for GOOD WILL HUNTING>
-
I haven't seen Precious, but it's at the cheap theater already so I'll probably go
-
I am finding Penelope Cruz to be arrestingly attractive these days.
Not me, I've never found her appealing in any English-language performance.
Me, too, three.
-
I haven't seen Precious yet.
I'll rent it this week.
I've been avoiding it because it looks depressing.
-
I don't want to see PRECIOUS.....
-
I just remember why Robin Williams is presenting this year.
Previous winner for DEAD POET'S SOCIETY.
No, he won for GOOD WILL HUNTING>
Spoo! My bad!
-
And the late Heath Ledger wasn't available to present. Funny they'd go back that far for a previous supporting winner to present.
-
I want to see An Educatoin. I hear it's very good
-
PRECIOUS is out on DVD this Tuesday
-
Actually, I may skip Precious.
-
I haven't seen Precious, but it's at the cheap theater already so I'll probably go
I just reserved the book, I'll read it first. The film's synopsis on IMDB makes me think it may not be as depressing as it appears to be.
-
Excuse me....
PRECIOUS based on the Novel PUSH by Sapphire
Wasn't Sapphire a character's name in Amos 'N Andy?
-
Yes, PRECIOUS doesn't look to be something I'd willingly want to watch. If I had to review it, of course, but not for something for free time.
-
I don't want to see PRECIOUS.....
I do and I don't--I've been avoiding it because it looks like a hard film to experience
-
Welcome 3 guests!
-
And the late Heath Ledger wasn't available to present. Funny they'd go back that far for a previous supporting winner to present.
I was thinking since Monique doesn't shave her legs, they could ask Eddie Murphy.....a BSA nominee from a couple of years ago.
-
Let me get this straight - they cut the singing of the songs - they don't have the good taste to honor Miss Bacall on the real show - but they've got time for a SALUTE TO HORROR FILMS?????
-
Love Sigourney's dress....hate her hair style.
-
Horrifying indeed.
-
Sigourney Weaver - 3 time Academy Award nominee.
-
Will we never get to page twenty-seven?
-
Notice that Mo'Nique mentioned Hattie McDaniel. She's working on a film bio of the woman.
-
Love Sigourney's dress....hate her hair style.
She looks good, I thought.
-
Let me get this straight - they cut the singing of the songs - they don't have the good taste to honor Miss Bacall on the real show - but they've got time for a SALUTE TO HORROR FILMS?????
I am not looking forward to that.
-
A Hattie McDaniel film would be interesting
-
DakotaCelt, I'm so glad to hear your mom came through her surgery well. Continued prayers for her while she goes through her treatments.
Yes, I second that. And coping vibes to you.
-
Tom Ford - be still my heart!
-
Do you think THE HURT LOCKER will win costume?
:-)
-
Do you think THE HURT LOCKER will win costume?
:-)
Guess not.
-
I haven't seen Precious yet.
I haven't either.
-
Swatch dress
-
Kind of thought that COCO Chanel movie was going to win.
-
I already have three of these...
-
Oh good grief! I misses Charlize on the red carpet. What was she thinking wtih that dress
-
There's that unfortunate dress again on Charlize.
-
PRECIOUS had five nominations: film, director, two performances, and script.
-
I think that I'll see PRECIOUS before I see THE BLIND SIDE.
-
Maybe Precious wouldn't be so hard to watch
-
Steve was right the first time.
-
And, may I say - - WHAT A SWELL PARTY THIS IS!
-
Steve was right the first time.
Steve is right, Alec is left.
-
I guessed correctly on costumes - only because Sandy Powell is also the name of my first handler at my publisher.
-
This may end up being the shortest Oscar show in years, but it's also the most boring.
-
And, may I say - - WHAT A SWELL PARTY THIS IS!
I agree! Anyone want some more chips and salsa?
-
I still have to see BLIND SIDE and AN EDUCATION.
-
On totally unrelated note....I hate bagless vacuum cleaners. Why should I vacuum it all up just to have it go all over the place when I empty the stupid thing. Just had to say that
-
Sandy Powell...what a dumb acceptance.....speech.....
-
This may end up being the shortest Oscar show in years, but it's also the most boring.
Short?
-
I just remember why Robin Williams is presenting this year.
Previous winner for DEAD POET'S SOCIETY.
I don't think he won for that. I Believe it was for Good Will Hunting.
But the last years winner has passed and that's why he was chosen
-
long commercial breaks.
-
Endless endless endless.......
-
It is a rather dull show tonight.
-
I Hate Bagless Vacuum Cleaners - that's the title of my next novel.
-
Post deleted.
-
He should have won for DEAD POET'S SOCIETY....but yes I think Robin won for GOOD WILL HUNTING.
Nanoo Nanoo
-
I'm liking the show just fine.
-
And these winners walk up to the stage sooooo slowwwwwwly. And they all look so pretentious - lighten up, be happy you won, have some bloody energy.
-
On totally unrelated note....I hate bagless vacuum cleaners. Why should I vacuum it all up just to have it go all over the place when I empty the stupid thing. Just had to say that
I share your pain, Cillaliz. I feel the same way.
-
LOL
-
TWIIGHT stars!
-
I have to ask who are they?
-
The new stars of today!
-
JAWS wasn't a horror movie
-
On totally unrelated note....I hate bagless vacuum cleaners. Why should I vacuum it all up just to have it go all over the place when I empty the stupid thing. Just had to say that
I share your pain, Cillaliz. I feel the same way.
Me, three! :P But it's what I have...otherwise, I really like my vacuum. It works quite well.
-
JAWS wasn't a horror movie
It was pretty damn scary to me.
-
I've always felt that a horror movie should have a supernatural element. Otherwise it's a thriller.
-
Doesn't he believe in combing his hair?
-
It Is The Worst..so far
-
JAWS wasn't a horror movie
I mean genre-wise. It's a thriller, not a horror movie
It was pretty damn scary to me.
-
So AVATAR isn';t going to win all the technical prizes.
-
It's Drunk Dwain!
-
That's what I'd call a hair-don't! :-\
-
THE HURT LOCKER was predicted for sound.
-
The winner looks like one of the characters from the Matrix movie. :-)
-
Notice that they're saying "...and the winner is..." as opposed to "...and the award goes to..."?
-
Has anyone noticed thart this year they're saying "..And the winner is.." instead of "The Oscar goes to" as in years past.
-
If THE HURT LOCKER keeps kicking his ass, James Cameron isn't going to be smiling so large as the night wears on.
-
I think the writing is on the wall re The Hurt Locker.
-
Look at the time difference between our having the same thought, DR George!
-
The hotel bit was funny but, you know, the Oscars isn't The Tonight Show.
-
Who is Elizabeth Banks?
-
This will definitely be the shortest Oscar show ever. They have succeeded in turning this into a total snooze fest, no better than any other awards show.
-
Travolta looked petrified.
-
I mean, there's a hour left and I think they've already given most of the awards - I mean, what's left - music, picture, actress, actor, director. What else? Photography?
-
cinematography, obits.
-
I wonder if we'll actually get into the top ten? If not, it will be the first Oscarcast to not do so. And for that, the winners are - Ben and elmore. :)
-
Who is Chris Pine?
-
I won't complain if the show is the shortest ever. Give out the awards and go home.
-
Supporting hainsie to Jane.
-
John Travolta couldn't bother to dress up?
-
I am starting to lose patience with the show so I think I am going to sign off and go home. Good night all
-
These youngsters are embarrassing. Shame on the Academy for pandering.
-
Look at the time difference between our having the same thought, DR George!
Is there an echo in here? :-)
-
Shayne - it's not about the show, baby.
-
PMS?
-
We don't need no stinking PMS.
-
Will we never get to page fifty?
-
Not with this Oscarcast.
-
I mean, there's a hour left and I think they've already given most of the awards - I mean, what's left - music, picture, actress, actor, director. What else? Photography?
There are 10 left I think...Actor, Actress, Cinematography, Director, Best Doc, Film Editing, Foreign Language, Original Score, Visual Effects and Best Picture
-
Well, at the pace they're going, they'll be done in about fifteen minutes. Of course, who knows what other "tributes" they have planned.
-
I see that actor Sandy Kenyon died this week.
-
I have to say, the sound is the worst I've ever heard on national television.
-
I see that actor Sandy Kenyon died this week.
What are you, the grim reaper?
-
Entertain or Award.. Are both possible? Dull-Dull-Dull
Bring back The Wizard.
-
Sandra was voted #1 at the box-office this year. First time a woman was at the top since Julie Andrews, I believe.
-
How could they even nominate AVATAR for Cinematography? It was all motion capture, wasn't it?
-
James Cameron is married to Skeletor.
-
I don't like Demi's dress.
-
I see that actor Sandy Kenyon died this week.
What are you, the grim reaper?
I knew the obits were coming up.
-
Look at the time difference between our having the same thought, DR George!
I know!!
-
James Cameron is married to Skeletor.
Suzy Amis. She looked so young in Titanic.
-
Greetings from the M60 Bus!
-
Looks like I'll have a lot of catching up to do...
-
Happy travels, DR Jose
-
The direction on this show is terrible.
-
It's a snoozer of a show
-
Hmmmm.....too bad there's NEVER been a song written for a MOVIE that someone could have sung for this segment.
-
I'm ready for more awards. No more commercials.
-
James Taylor - timeless!
-
Fire the director. If you cannot show us the images of who passed away (the first five people) get OUT OF THE BUSINESS YOU STUPID PECKERHEAD.
-
I remember Sandy Kenyon as a kind of television columnist....I think he worked with Rona Barrett...I think.
-
I was screaming at the TV.
-
Fire the director. If you cannot show us the images of who passed away (the first five people) get OUT OF THE BUSINESS YOU STUPID PECKERHEAD.
Agreed!
-
Will we never get to page eighty?
-
Welcome home, DR Jose!
-
Gotta agree with you on that, BK
-
Are we in the top ten yet?
-
Hmmmm.....too bad there's NEVER been a song written for a MOVIE that someone could have sung for this segment.
I think somewhere in the history of Hollywood, there is a song that could be used, but I don't know what it would be.
-
I remember Sandy Kenyon as a kind of television columnist....I think he worked with Rona Barrett...I think.
He was an actor. I remember him in MACARTHUR and other films.
-
I was screaming at the TV.
I know! You screamed so loud I had to turn my TV down
-
Nowhere near the top ten, shocking as it may seem.
-
They could have showed MORE clips from different movies if they hadn't shown ten clips each from PSYCHO and THE SHINING, etc......
-
I do think we'll make it, but barely.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page thirty.
-
The direction on this show is terrible.
I was gonna say that before--how much you wanna bet it's nominated for a Best Direction Emmy?
-
They make that mistake with the obits EVERY YEAR!
-
I was screaming at the TV.
I know! You screamed so loud I had to turn my TV down
I heard you in Austin.
-
I think he won for GOOD WILL HUNTING.
What was Charlize thinking?
They are saying "And the winner is..."
-
Our biggest Oscar show had more than 2000 posts. We'll be lucky if we get near half that number this evening, thanks to you-know-who. I can keep talking about them because we know they won't be catching up on all these posts.
-
The top 10 starts at 915 posts
-
Just Can't Wait For Next Years Show
-
Ahhhhhh different Sandy Kenyon.
-
That dress looks like the foam wrap you use in packing things
-
We can have dancers for best score, but can't hear the best songs?
-
Um, what is this all about?
-
I was thinking of THIS Sandy Kenyon.
(http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/object2/1473/90/n166671937024_8100.jpg)
-
Now this is just dumb.
-
Um, what is this all about?
I have no idea.
-
I think we have Adam Shankman to thank for this steaming pile of ..... stuff.
-
Oh--dances of Best Score. Makes sense...
-
I was thinking of THIS Sandy Kenyon.
(http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/object2/1473/90/n166671937024_8100.jpg)
Not him. Very skinny guy.
-
Well I still have pages 3-30 to catch up on tomorrow.
I did watch TAR at 7pm. And before that i was watching the only red carpet show i got (with some canadian people from CTV). Interestingly the guy was right beside ryan seacrest, so anyone watching E! probably saw him. It wasn't bad. Although i would have preferred to watch it on E!.
After TAR i switched I went to the ABC 30 minute coverage.
-
Where's Mitzi Gaynor? I wanna see her interpret the Best Scores
-
Oh--dances of Best Score. Makes sense...
Shades of Debbie Allen.
-
I am sort of liking Alec and Steve as hosts. I wish i would have gotten to see the dresses more. There are a bunch i like. And some i am not sure of (i will need to see them better).
-
This is putting my wife to sleep.
-
I don't Understand what The Producer and The Director are Thinking.
Correct That- Thy weren't Thinking....and What are those people running and smearing there bodies on the floor right now?
-
I'm cheering for UP
-
Only because I picked it and haven't seen most of these
-
Looks like a circus act.
-
Somebody should drop some marbles on the floor like they did in SHOWGIRLS!
-
Pretty remarkable footwork . I liked that very much.
-
I'm thrilled he won for UP!
-
Nice speech
-
Two gorgeous men - both mine.
-
My favorite acceptance speech of the night, thank you very much!
-
Visual effects?
I wonder who will win.
-
Two gorgeous men - both mine.
Stingy!
-
It would be so great if STAR TREK won!
-
But it didn't.
-
That was a very long dance number. I'm surprised they gave it so much time.
-
Big surprise.
-
No surprise there.
-
Michael Giacchino is DA MAN! As some of you know, he is the composer for "Lost", too.
And, yes...GREAT SPEECH!
-
Pretty remarkable footwork . I liked that very much.
I might have....if it was on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE instead of giving jobs on the Academy Awards to all of Adam Shankman's students from HAPPY FEET STUDIO.
-
We're closing in on number 10 in the top 10
-
I want to see Up in the Air again
-
Ido want to see UP IN THE AIR soon.
-
That dance number - DANCE? Flipping is not dancing. Stupid beyond repair. And the inept director missed the ID on Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes. What a doofus.
-
Are we there yet?
-
It is still raining.
Sorry. That's all I've got.
-
Glad UP won.
-
I think I'm getting Up In The Air on Tuesday. At least that's the plan - however amazon has really been screwy lately.
-
Our snow melted a lot today and we are supposed to have rain the rest of the week
-
I'm not all that tense about who is going to win Best Director, no matter what she says.
-
It seems like we saw Neil Patrick Harris a lifetime ago!
-
Well, we made the top 10
-
UP IN THE AIR came out on DVD last week I think
-
Yay for the top ten.
-
It's also at our cheap theater
-
No, Up In The Air comes out on Tuesday, which is when I'm supposed to get it.
-
So what's the 9th biggest posting day number?
-
Pretty remarkable footwork . I liked that very much.
I might have....if it was on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE instead of giving jobs on the Academy Awards to all of Adam Shankman's students from HAPPY FEET STUDIO.
Didn't bother me at all. It was amazingly visual, and I was seeing bodies doing things that blew me away. I don't watch SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE so I loved seeing it.
-
Only twelve hundred more posts to go to beat our previous record.
-
I'm doing better in out Oscar pool than I do when I've seen all the movies, lol.
-
We can DO it.
-
That MODERN FAMILY snippet in Oscar-mode was hilarious. LOVE THAT SHOW!!!
-
Only twelve hundred more posts to go to beat our previous record.
PUUUUSSSSHHHH!!!!
-
ABC's HAPPY TOWN.. is it a TWIN PEAKS rip?
-
I won't be watching Happy Town
-
Only twelve hundred more posts to go to beat our previous record.
PUUUUSSSSHHHH!!!!
A novel by Sssssssaphire
-
Matty is looking My-T-Fine.
-
I could never watch THE COVE.
-
FOOD INC is a movie I would definitely be afraid to watch
-
Does it help with the number of posts If I say 1,000 times how boring this show is?
-
I couldn't watch The Cove either. It was on TV yesterday on some channel and it about made me sick just to think about it. I turned the channel right away
-
Welcome home Jose!
-
Is that Jeff Chandler?
-
I couldn't watch it, but I'm glad they made it. WHICH WAY HOME was very good, I knew it wouldn't win, but it was good
-
I'm glad THE COVE won.
Maybe it will do some good in the world.
-
Fisher Stevens is suppose to show up on LOST again this season
-
Fisher Stevens used to do a lot of TV guest star work. Does he still act?
-
Did they play them off because they had the sign with "Text Dolphin to 41444"
-
Medea goes to the Oscars.
-
Tyler Perry?
-
Did they play them off because they had the sign with "Text Dolphin to 41444"
I wouldn't doubt it.
-
Steve and Alec in their snuggies!
-
Used to be if a film won the film editing award, it was a sign it was going to win Best Picture.
We'll see if that is still a harbinger.
-
These two are responsible for that horror movie montage?
-
Looks very intense.
-
James Cameron wasn't smiling
-
Is women's ready-to-wear really that ugly now?
-
More commercials!
-
Looks very intense.
I didn't think I'd like it, but I was captivated and I watched it on DVD
-
No The Cove or Food Inc for me.
-
Tyler Perry?
He makes lots of movies....including those in which he plays an angry black woman named MEDEA.
-
I suspect in the last twenty minutes it will be sixteen minutes of commercials. They now have to stretch to get to three hours.
-
So, the ex-wife of James Cameron is going to stomp her ex-husband.
-
Is women's ready-to-wear really that ugly now?
Yup. At least I save money. There really isn't anything I'd like to buy. I may have to learn to sew again. I have my mom's sewing machine, it's really a thought
-
HURT LOCKER looks interesting......
I hope Meryl and that damn Helen Mirren didn't have to go to the bathroom in the last three hours.
-
They keep cutting to really old people and I have no idea who they are.
-
They keep cutting to really old people and I have no idea who they are.
You sound like Taylor Lautner.
-
So, the ex-wife of James Cameron is going to stomp her ex-husband.
Hope so!
-
I thought they were going to give Best Director in that last segment of the show.
-
Well, I gotta get up at 6:00 am so I'm going to have to bag it here. Good night, y'all...
-
Me too, DR CILLA LIZ
-
I thought they were going to give Best Director in that last segment of the show.
That's what you get for listening to that woman who was telling you about YAZ.
-
This will still be our lowest Oscar postings ever. We'd have to have another two hundred posts to beat last year, which was our lowest.
-
DR DtM - you might want to wait for the special guest.
-
I hate the Shaiman playon music from the commercials.
-
Does HAINES HIS WAY win For Best Web Site?
-
Quentin looks like a mess.
-
Doesn't he always ;)
-
This will still be our lowest Oscar postings ever. We'd have to have another two hundred posts to beat last year, which was our lowest.
And who's fault is that, bk?
-
Was it nominated?
-
Quentin looks like a mess.
Yes. He didn's sound much better, either.
-
According to my TV guide the show is supposed to be over at 11:30 EST.
-
People on another board just pointed out that the Academy snubbed both Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett in the in memorium section.
-
Well, kind of underwhelming clips from AVATAR. I'll be finding out about it soon enough.
-
I am not the target audience for Avatar.
-
This will still be our lowest Oscar postings ever. We'd have to have another two hundred posts to beat last year, which was our lowest.
And who's fault is that, bk?
I think we know who the willful duo is.
-
This show, blechhh.
-
People on another board just pointed out that the Academy snubbed both Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett in the in memorium section.
Eagle eyes!
-
People on another board just pointed out that the Academy snubbed both Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett in the in memorium section.
Yikes!
-
People on another board just pointed out that the Academy snubbed both Bea Arthur and Farrah Fawcett in the in memorium section.
And Harve Presnell.
-
Wow, you're right. That's a big snub
-
I will see Avatar, but those clips didn't entice me.
-
According to my TV guide the show is supposed to be over at 11:30 EST.
That isn't gonna happen.
-
You know, how hard is it with all the money that gets poured into the show, and all the people who work, to figure out who DIED?
-
And this director - he'll probably get nominated for an EMMY, which shows you how corrupt THAT is.
-
I am having difficulty staying awake.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Well, Bea, Farrah, and Harve did have much bigger careers in venues other than movies.
-
Post deleted.
-
This show is so slow it feels like midnight already.
-
Just got in, there is no way I can catch up. I don't even know what has won yet. So, I'll be back tomorrow :)
-
I thought Barbra Streisand was in the building.
-
I guess it's going over three hours. And I don't care if it goes to four as long as it's fun. It used to be FUN.
-
Well, Bea, Farrah, and Harve did have much bigger careers in venues other than movies.
But at least AS BIG as Michael Jackson.
-
I recently read that they have to decide who to leave out of the obituary section --that there are too many people to include them all.
-
Was Michael Jackson in a movie other than The Wiz?
-
What is this now...testimonials about the nominees?
-
It's not even about the film he's nominated for. What's about this
-
Wow, this is going to go on forever!
-
I still say dye it white and he's Colonel Sanders
-
These are nice but too long for the actors.
-
They'll have to do them for the actresess too. Wonder if they'll do they about the directors
-
Well, Bea, Farrah, and Harve did have much bigger careers in venues other than movies.
But at least AS BIG as Michael Jackson.
He did have a film out in 2009; the others didn't.
-
Well, Bea, Farrah, and Harve did have much bigger careers in venues other than movies.
But at least AS BIG as Michael Jackson.
He did have a film out in 2009; the others didn't.
Duh! I even bought it
-
Chris Pine played Captain Kirk in the latest STAR TREK movie, I think.
And he was born on August 26, 1980 - making him a birthdate TWIN with DR JOSE and I!
Yes, he did
-
These love-fests would have been more interesting an hour and a half ago - YAWNNNNN!
-
I take it since I am at work, the awards are not really stellar viewing this year
-
Nice win for Jeff!
-
I like Jeff Bridges. I know it's no surprise, but I'm glad he won
-
Is that a surprise?
Uh, no.
-
UP IN THE AIR was another favorite of mine this year.
I liked that movie also along with Young Victoria.
I have not seen Crazy Hearts. It has not opened here yet
-
Hooray for Jeff...
-
Did she really just say "pichure"?
-
I think she meant pisher, DR GINNY.
-
I'm ready for the speech to be over.
-
This is quite long.
-
1183 posts is the lowest for an Oscar party. We could at least try to beat that
-
I'm ready for the speech to be over.
You got that right.
-
TOO
LONG
-
Why aren't they playing him off....oh there it goes
-
Guess they stopped placing time limits on speeches.
-
Another commercial....
-
The speech all but soured my joy at Bridges' win.
-
I like Jeff in THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT, STARMAN, TRON, and WINTER KILLS
-
Putting books in order has been more entertaining....
-
I loved Starman
-
OMG - she said it again!!!!
-
If they were supposed to end at 11:30, how do they have commercials booked for 11:37?
-
Whose stupid idea was that endless intro to each actor? TERRIBLE.
-
If they do it for the actresses, well, it's going to three and a half hours.
-
OMG - she said it again!!!!
Who?
-
I loved Starman
Such a terrific movie!! And Jeff and Karen Allen were so sweet together.
-
And it's going to be a commercial break after every award from now to the end of the show.
-
Post deleted.
-
Whose stupid idea was that endless intro to each actor? TERRIBLE.
Didn't they do something like that last year....with Sophia Loren standing there forever to talk about somebody?
-
Our GUESTS have finally figured out THIS is the place to be.
-
Here we go again....
-
Here comes the actresses.
-
Forrest Whitaker has lost a TON of weight! Is he ill?
-
OMG - she said it again!!!!
Who?
The announcer, as they cut away to commercials, said they'd be back for this & that & "best pichure."
-
I do like Sandra Bullock
-
OMG - she said it again!!!!
Who?
The announcer, as they cut away to commercials, said they'd be back for this & that & "best pichure."
AH, I'll listen next time, I'm sure there will be more commercials
-
Was Michael Jackson in a movie other than The Wiz?
the only one I know of...
-
I loved Starman
I liked that one...
-
Was Michael Jackson in a movie other than The Wiz?
the only one I know of...
THIS IS IT
-
OMG - she said it again!!!!
Who?
The announcer, as they cut away to commercials, said they'd be back for this & that & "best pichure."
oops.
-
I am beginning to wonder whathas more commercials... the oscars or the superbowl
-
Was Michael Jackson in a movie other than The Wiz?
the only one I know of...
THIS IS IT
and I even saw that one.... SPOO!!1 :)
-
Oprah looks good
-
Good Evening!
Greetings from West Harlem/Hamilton Heights!
I'm home.
:)
-
Was Michael Jackson in a movie other than The Wiz?
the only one I know of...
The concert film THIS IS IT. Big worldwide hit last year.
-
36 pages and counting...
-
Welcome home Jose....Oprah is on
-
Welcome home Jose...
-
I noted Friday that it is now out on DVD
-
Stanley said unseemly.
-
Is Sean drunk?
-
I knew she'd get it, but I really wanted Meryl
-
I guess all the predictions were right. It's the Julia Roberts Oscar.
-
AND she won the Razzie just last night!
-
I guess all the predictions were right. It's the Julia Roberts Oscar.
???
-
I knew she'd get it, but I really wanted Meryl
Me, too. I'm disappointed.
-
Sandy's dress looks much nicer onstage than outside.
-
Babs is going to present Best Director?
-
Well....Barbra shops at JC PENNEY, I see.
-
Barber Streisand?
-
I wondered why they were playing The Way We Were right after Sandra Bullock said ..."My lover Meryl Streep"
-
We're going to go over midnight, it looks like.
-
Well....Barbra shops at JC PENNEY, I see.
ouch.
-
WOO HOO!! I wanted her to win
-
I'm REALLY glad she won.
-
How exciting!
-
Welcome home, Jose. You've got a lotta ketching up to do, doncha?
-
So wonderful that Miss Barbra presented this award to her......
-
;D
-
Don't you know Babs is green with envy. SHE would have wanted to be the first, and she never got nominated for directing.
-
WOO HOO!! I wanted her to win
I haven't seen the movie yet and I wanted her to win!
-
I wondered where it was filmed....Jordan
-
The Hurt Locker!!
-
Wow! Hanks must have been told just read the winner.
-
Wow! Tom Hanks just announced the winner! They didn't read the list of nominations.
-
I just scored 100% on the Oscar contest run by the Charlotte Observer! Yay!
-
Take THAT, James Cameron.....ahahahahahahahahaha
-
Congrats, DR MATTH!
-
'night!
-
What did AVATAR get? Sound and editing or something like that? Whew!
-
Goodnight ALL!
-
Get off the stage!
-
Taking us too 1100!
-
Shame, SHAME on Marc Shameman for playing I Am Woman for Kathryn Bigelow's walk-off. For me, an Oscar low.
-
Or 1102.
-
Or 1105
-
What did AVATAR get? Sound and editing or something like that? Whew!
I think it won 3.
-
Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects
-
Damn
-
Knowing Hollywood as we all do, was there ANY question The Hurt Locker would win?
-
Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects
Thanks!
-
Thank you and GOOD NIGHT!
-
We might just squeeze by and beat our previous lowest Oscar night - which was actually in 2008.
-
It's possible
-
-
Knowing Hollywood as we all do, was there ANY question The Hurt Locker would win?
Well, because they used a weighted ballot this year for Best Picture, I had a slight doubt it might not win.
-
Hurt Liquor wins it all
-
Wasn't Avatar the favorite?
-
Crazy Fart
-
38 pages - not bad.
-
If Meryl had won, I would have been completely content with the results. As is, they were fine, predictable/
-
Crazy Tart...going back to the game that started the day
-
Who's on Barbara Walters? Not that I'm going to watch it.
-
Lazy Heart
-
Sandra Bullock was one on there
-
Wasn't Avatar the favorite?
An early favorite but THE HURT LOCKER's buzz started building in January and by the time it started winning some of the more pretegious prizes, there wasn't much doubt.
-
I just scored 100% on the Oscar contest run by the Charlotte Observer! Yay!
Congrats!
-
Mo'Nique and highlights of past oscar night interviews
-
Well, I'm heading to bed in a few moments. I have to check a couple of other websites.
-
With 10 nominated movies, why don't they do like the Golden Globes and split them between comedy and drama?
-
Goodnight--I enjoyed the party!
-
That would make too much sense....besides I think they want one winner
-
Well, a good but very rushed ending. They must have threatened to pull the plug and cut the broadcast off even if it wasn't finished.
So glad The Hurt Locker won.
-
Let's Heave A Furtive Sigh and finally doze off to Dreamsville...finally
They had a big Oscar party and fundraiser for Make a Wish tonight, but I'm glad I stayed here for the partay
-
A furtive sigh. I like that, Arnold.
-
I'm waiting for the weather forecast, then I think I'll go to bed
-
Well, I personally had a perfectly perfect time watching the Oscars, probably because I was multi-tasking, taking screencaps of all the BD's I have in my review queue as I watched. I did correctly guess that BK would have the most "Kvetchies" by the time I got here to catch up on the posts. ;)
-
Well, I personally had a perfectly perfect time watching the Oscars, probably because I was multi-tasking
so the best way to watch the Oscars is to be doing something else?
-
My favorite joke came early: "What's up with all that Hitler memorabilia?"
-
Evidently, based on the reactions here. ;D
-
And Avatar walks off with very little -- (other than a huge pile of cash).
-
Sorry I disappeared, but my computer started acting up.
Very happy with the acting, directing and picture awards.
My only real disappointments were in the screenplay awards. I would have liked to have seen UP IN THE AIR and INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS win those.
-
I think I won the Oscar pool with my former movie group. It's kind of funny. When I see all the movies, I don't win. When I only see a few I win. I have to wait though, there are two people who may have send their ballots directly to the organizer and not to the rest of us
-
I thought that Martin & Baldwin did very well.
-
Oy and vey, what a show. Sorry, but the show's musical director needs to be replaced (not Harold Wheeler).
-
Playing I Am Woman Hear Me Roar - shameless and obnoxious, as was Miss Streisand with her "THE TIME IS HERE"
-
It's almost 11:30 here in Austin. Past my bedtime.
'Night all.
-
We can have dancers for best score, but can't hear the best songs?
You call those dancers? You're much too kind.
-
I agree about the screen plays, DR Druxy. Up in the Air and Inglorious Basterds were my picks.
-
We could definitely move into the top seven or even the top six - we are very close to both. I was wrong about last year - we had over 1700 posts last year.
-
I see we have a few GUESTS - sorry GUESTS - a little slow on the uptake, aren't you?
-
I did get a lot done around the house this weekend. That always feels good. I had intended to do my taxes. I didn't get that done, but there is still plenty of time to do that
-
Will we get to 40 degrees tomorrow? It's been since December 1 since we last hit it.
-
Trying to help get more posts
Congrats Matt on getting 100% in your contest
-
DR Dakota, good news about your mom, condolences about your friend
-
DR Jose, how was the trip home?
-
I like Jeff in THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT, STARMAN, TRON, and WINTER KILLS
I like Bridges in THE LAST PICTURE SHOW and THE FISHER KING.
-
I thought that Martin & Baldwin did very well.
I did, too. Most enjoyable.
-
I'm happy for THE HURT LOCKER's wins, now I will have to see it. And I do want to see it. I will also have to see AVATAR, just for the hell of it. Maybe my buying a ticket will help put food on Mrs. Cameron's table.
-
I don't know - shouldn't we be on page forty already?
-
And What Will The Final Count Be?
-
night
-
Night DR Arnold
-
I think that means " Good Night"
-
Or it could mean Knight....but I meant Good Night
-
But then it would be Sir DR Arnold, right?
-
Time for me to get to sleep. I'm getting silly here and have to get up and go to work early in the morning.
-
On a somewhat related note, for any of you wanting a completely outre filmic experience, I highly recommend the short "Higglety Pigglety Pop" which is included on the new BD of "Where the Wild Things Are." Unbelievably surreal.
-
They make that mistake with the obits EVERY YEAR!
And so did the Tonys!
They make that mistake with the obits EVERY YEAR!
And so did the Tonys!
der Brucer
Yes - it drove me crazy last year the way they did that with the Tonys.
-
OK. I will say goodnight to everyone, too. Thanks for the fun partay!
-
Well... I have a "I really should get some sleep headache", but...
I want to catch up on "TAR" too, so...
We - well, I shall see...
-
Despite a fun, cheeky opening by Martin and Baldwin, I found the Oscars to be interminable...largely because of what makes all TV interminable these days. An excessive amount of commercials that make everything unwatchable.
-
We have finished tracing all the wiring in the house in our ongoing effort to hang sconces.
Would Drunk Dwain happen to be an electrician who worked in Atlanta 15 years ago?
LOL-but I'm also concerned now. I hope your wiring is safe.
Greg will make sure it is. He's having to undo terrible workmanship in this house. They even cut ceiling joists to install can lights. Duh! Even I know better than that!
-
They could have showed MORE clips from different movies if they hadn't shown ten clips each from PSYCHO and THE SHINING, etc......
I was miffed that there was nothing from THE FLY.
-
Eye vibes to Ginny!!
-
My friend Richard King was on the Oscars briefly since he won the sound design Oscar last year for The Dark Knight. It was just the back of his head but still exciting!
-
Jimmy Kimmel's after Oscar show is funny!
-
Pogue - it's a big package.
-
I did correctly guess that BK would have the most "Kvetchies" by the time I got here to catch up on the posts. ;)
That was not a "guess", that was a predictable certainty.
der Brucer
-
Playing I Am Woman Hear Me Roar - shameless and obnoxious...
Well, it certainly was sexist - and consideering the source, bitchy!
der Brucer
-
We can have dancers for best score, but can't hear the best songs?
You call those dancers? You're much too kind.
They were introduced as a collection of "street dancers" - and did a very fine job of representing that dance form.
der Brucer
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Well, that's it until next year!
-
...I was wrong about last year - we had over 1700 posts last year.
::Note to Diary::
On Monday, March 9, 2010, at 12:30:441 AM, BK confessed "I was wrong..."
der Brucer
-
I'm now watching Friday's episode of "The Bonnie Hunt Show." I'm not watching any after-Oscar stuff.
-
BK - It may be BIG, but not BIG enough for me to see it yet.
-
It's leaving LA on Tuesday morning - it was so big I had to hire people to move it into the house.
-
Why if we made only thirty more posts we'd have achieved our sixth highest posting day.
-
Cranberries.
-
Is it as BIG as the commercial pauses in the Oscars tonight?
Is it as BIG as that lady was RUDE who ran up onstage and stole that producer/director's moment for short or whatever it was? What was with that?
-
Post deleted.
-
The deleted post was about two people who couldn't be bothered to join their brethren here at haineshisway.com - had they we'd already be in sixth place.
-
That woman was an Oscar low.
-
Johnny Weir was on Friday's "Bonnie Hunt Show." I just started watching, so I haven't gotten to his segment, yet.
-
Ahh...I thought it had already left a week ago.
-
Now all is clear!
-
If I were the powers that be I would have cut to a close-up of the guy and never showed her. But that would have required some actual intelligence on the part of the director.
-
I will patiently await its arrival.
-
So, if we get to page forty-two we will have achieved our sixth highest posting day.
-
And no one can say boo about it. And it's no thanks to our two SLACKERS and actually let's make that three and add Jane.
-
Well, Hell, how hard should that be?
-
Well, Woody insisted we buy it, and it arrived yesterday, so I guess I'll give it a try.
This board had me doing all sorts of unexpected things - I virtually never watch a film with subtitles and in general favor color and now I've off and ordered the BD of The Seventh Seal.
der Brucer
Lest I be accused of favoring only imports for B&W viewing, I also ordered Raging Bull.
-
Anyone watch Barbara Walters.
-
So what's with Jimmy Cameron's wife? She looks unhealthily thin.
-
Ms. Uzoka Favor wants to send me a LOT of money.
-
I did not think Neil Patrick Harris's opening number was his finest moment vocally.
-
I must say I found Sandra Bullock completely odd.
-
I would have loved to have seen Helen Mirren or Christopher Plummer win.
-
NPH is a poseur. He is charming and affable, but not thrillingly talented, and that number was pathetic - a new low for its composer and lyricist who are so busy being smart asses that they've completely lost their craft.
-
Damn Helen Mirran - best line of the evening.
-
I watched BaBa...I didn't have any real problem with Sandra...I thought Monique a little odd as were the questions Baba put to her.
-
Even though I haven't seen An Education, I sort of wanted that cutie pie to win - everyone says she's really terrific.
-
I didn't see Barbara - I was talking about Sandra's acceptance speech.
-
Yeah, Damn Helen Mirren...may have been the best line of the evening.
-
I think Martin and Baldwin oughta try doing a "Road" picture...They've got to be better than Beatty and Hoffman.
-
All the people that I've seen and heard who are connected with the movie Precious: Based On The Novel Push by Sapphire are weird and full of themselves.
-
Yeah, I really want to see AN EDUCATION, A SINGLE MAN, and THE LAST STATION.
-
And someone please don't let Adam Shankman choreograph ANYTHING ever again.
-
On Tuesday, I get Up In The Air and Capitalism: A Love Story, both of which I'm quite looking forward to.
-
Pogue and me - we havin' a frenzy: Based on the novel We Havin' A Frenzy by Emerald.
-
The only thing worse than the frequent, extended commercial breaks were ABC's promos. Of the new lot on DANCING WITH THE STARS, I only recognized three names...And none of them are my idea of stars.
-
I see we're on page forty-one: Based On The Novel Shove by Precious.
-
The promos are the worst: Based on the novel Hit by Shove.
-
I think we've got us a new thing here at haineshisway.com: Based on the novel Slap by Push.
-
Or...
I could end up falling asleep on the couch in front of the TV with my MacBook in my lap, so...
Goodnight.
-
UP IN THE AIR is great. And, yeah, howcum whenever PRECIOUS was invoked they had to add, based on the novel PUSH by whoever? That author must have had a damned good agent.
-
I'm laughing here in the City of Studio.
-
That woman was an Oscar low.
She needed the "I Am Woman" play off!
der Brucer
-
Goodnight, Jose! Hope you survived SETC. Are you out of Lexington yet?
-
Actually, not only have we now achieved our sixth highest posting day, in six posts we will achieve our fifth highest posting day: Based on the novel Kick by Cut Glass.
-
Oscar Low - wasn't he a composer of operettas?
-
I tell you, I am on a roll - an onion roll, and it's none too comfortable.
-
What, me worry?
-
Anyone for page forty-three?
-
Page forty-three for anyone?
-
It's a big package.
-
Just five, a snap: Based on the novel Jostle by Quartz.
-
Just how big?
-
...and that number was pathetic - a new low for its composer and lyricist who are so busy being smart asses that they've completely lost their craft.
You didn't find the "prisoners drop the soap so they won't be alone" line tasteful - and spot on for an 8:30 Sunday family audience?
der Brucer
-
der Brucer, yeah, they were reaching with some of those lyrics...
-
And, yeah, howcum whenever PRECIOUS was invoked they had to add, based on the novel PUSH by whoever? That author must have had a damned good agent.
The official title of the film is "Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire".
der Brucer
-
Rather silly: based on the novel Poke by Trinket.
-
Have we reached by those five yet, bk: Based on the novel CLOUT by Bauble.
-
BK, have you left to read the novel Thwack by Geegaw?
-
It's two in the morning here, BK -- you must now set records without my help, I'm frenzied out -- Based on the novel SLAM by Gimcrack.
-
It's a big package: Based on the novel Huge by Really Huge.
-
I guess I should write the notes: Based on the novel Lash by Opal.
-
An almost ran:
Pushy: based on the novel "My Mama" by June Havoc
der Brucer
-
Page 42!
I did set a record for most tax returns done during an Oscar telecast
-
Will we never get to page 43?
-
Shame on FJL - let him join the ranks of Ben, elmore, and Jane.
-
I think I would've been more enthusiastic about the Oscars if I'd seen more of the movies.
-
We don't need no stinking enthusiasm - we need partygoers, not party poopers.
-
Ben, elmore, Jane, FJL get a bitch-slapping: Based on the novel Bitch-Slapping by Bitch.
