Title: THE RUN-ON NOTES

Well, you've read the notes, the notes ran on, and now it is time for you to post until the run-on cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  slasher films.  I have no interest AT ALL in seeing a movie where people get killed in horrific ways, just for the sake of horrifically killing people. :P

Like George, I'm not big on slasher films. I also hate the kind of teen/young adult comedy in which somebody is set up to be embarrassed over and over again. Lately, the more bathroom/bodily function humor, the better, apparently. Included in this category are movies like "Meet the Parents," "The Hangover" and "Wild Hogs." I saw "Hot Tub Time Machine" recently and sat rather stone-faced through.

I think I have to agree with you with the slasher films which IMHO have perverted the horror genre. Less is more and what you don't see makes it scarier. I was a big fan of Hammer and the other Brit film companies who did Anthology films like Asylum and The House That Dripped Blood.

But it also extends to sci fi films that follow the same format.

I also don't like hip hop, rap and anything like Step UP 3D moves

So unfortunately that leaves me with very little choices.

In my prime I would usually see a double bill on A sunday if there were no new films out there. but then when I discovered that Grind house that showed three films for $1.25 I thought I had gone to heaven.

Think I mentioned this before. There was one "recent film" one that had been released within the last year or so, one that was a few years old and then a "genre film" (a spaghetti western, chop suey action or very bad T & A)

Good morning, all! I was havig pleasant dreams, the last one involved DR Ginny, as I recall, and it was about silliness in a cafeteria abd waiting for service people to bring out some dinner for a group after a show.

So, I'm up bright and early to head off to the Academy of Arts and Letters by 9:00 for a 10:00 session, the first of five, to record a lot of Victor Herbert. Today's sessions involve Jonathan Michie, a young baritone who will sing several German lied and two Irish folksongs arranged by Mr Herbert, and piano solos by William Hicks.  I'm looking forward to it.

Today, John McGlinn would have turned 57. He is one of four people whom I owe for whatever career I have: McGlinn, Bill Tynes (both deceased), Gary Miller, and Bruce Kimmel.

I must say I find that "McGlinn on Broadway" strange since whoever created it didn't use logos from McGlinn's recordings or concerts.

DR FJL, I have no answer to your question about what's going onwith the Oaf Above Me. He's a rude sonofabitch and, since I have to tolerate him enough between midnight and 4 am, I don't give much of a damn what goes on in his personal life.

I wish, however, that everyone of the Famille d'Oaf would move back to Toronto and take the barking dog with them.

I'm having a problem with this new play LOMBARDI because everytime I see a post about it or an ad, I think of Verdi's I Lombardi and that's a whole different kettle of performance.

I'm seeing Lombardi on Sept. 27th. Not because I have ANY interest in football but because Judith Light is in the show (and Dan Lauria from Wonder Years).

Oh, yes,

Re yesterday's photos:
I was on a tagging trip with the monarch scientist in southern Arizona. We tag the monarchs with the hope that a few will be recovered or photographed somewhere else along the way their movement can be monitored. Science has always taught that monarchs east of the Rockies go to Mexico to overwinter and monarchs west of the Rockies go to the coast of California to overwinter. Tagged Arizona monarchs have been discovered both places. So we are trying to prove the scientists wrong. Always a rebel.

It's raining, or has rained last night, here in the East Bay.  I just want to go back to bed.  I wonder if they will miss me at A Christmas Carol auditions today?  I hired a pianist so I'm not playing.  I'm not vocal directing this year, just supervising and playing the show, do I really need to be there?  I'd be happy just to attend callbacks.  Seeing that this in an annual production, I say cast anyone that was good last year that wants to do the show this year and just deal with the holes in the cast where people aren't returning.

This attitude must be fixed... or not...

Relatively breezy day at St. Margaret's Hospital:  my blood work was taken on time - 9:20am appointment - then they told me to head on over to radiology where my appointment was scheduled for 12:15pm.  Radiology took me right away, I barely had time to finish a chapter in APE HOUSE, where they offered me ten choices of flavors for the barium beverage.  I elected to try the cappuccino flavored, which were tasty if chalky.  Then, to let the barium pass through, I got to sit and snooze for the next hour and a half.
The CAT scan was most interesting.   No felines were involved.  The sensations which the dye provided were accurately described to me by the technician.  Boy, did he have those sensation descriptions down to a tee!
I'm ready for nap time, however, and the barium after effects are nothing to be sneezed at.  ;)

I've been working non-stop on our next release - doing the track titles was fun, but really time-consuming because I had to keep going back and forth between the edit road map, the tracks themselves, the pressbook for the film (I'm using ideas from their PR stories for some of the titles), and it just took forever.  Then I had a quick lunch of matzo brei and a bagel and then did some errands and whatnot, and am now back and starting the liner notes.  Not my favorite way to spend a Saturday, but it must be done.  I also must do the jog in about an hour.

Hello, everyone! Thank you all for today's vibes. I knew there was something in the air. The day went really well. The morning session was our first singer, Jonathan Michie, a 26 year-old baritone of much intelligence at talent. I had allotted two session for him, this morning and Monday morning, and he nailed everything - two German lieder, 2 Irish folk song arrangements, a comedy love song, a sentimental ballad, and a patriotic number - within 3 and a half hours. We then broke for lunch and recorded 4 piano solos before breaking. Tomorrow we are off because there's a street fair scheduled and the outside noise wou;ld get into the mix. Since Jonathan's recorded, we are taking part of Monday morning off, then we'll go in, record several more piano pieces and begin the cello and piano duets.

It was a good first day, and I am very pleased. Thank you all again for the support and those vibes!

BK, what a neat message from Robert Morse!

Very good news, Larry!  Continued successful recording sessions!!

We've been back from the Cathedral for a couple of hours, but I couldn't get on HHW.  No trouble with Facebook or Twitter, so I sent a FB message to several Hainsies/Kimlets and DR Laura told me it's kind of quiet here - maybe because others were having trouble connecting?  Anyway, things seem to be OK now and we're soon going to visit one of Richard's seminary classmates and his family at their home nearby.

Why are there so many thousands of cords and wires for the TV, DVR, DVD player, and telphones.

Does dealing with all of those cords give anyone else an anxiety attack? Whew, I was a mess getting all this crap hooked up.

And I still have one extra cord. That can't be good.

I worked at the office all afternoon.  I love being in the building when no one is there.  Not sure why, but I find it very relaxing.  I keep my door locked and you need to have a key card to get in the door and use the elevators, so it's really a lot safer than when I was on the skywalk floor

I'm ready for nap time, however, and the barium after effects are nothing to be sneezed at.  ;)
Vibes for good test results.

And twaddle it is.  A tour???  Please.  Recouping?  "All signs point to it"?  I know one of the credited producers - if he shows me a check for any profit I will eat a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry - I won't be, don't worry.

I just heard that my friend, James Bacon, has died.  He was 96.

Jim was one of the last of the great newspaper columnists from Hollywood's Golden Era.

If you ever needed a plug in his column for something you were doing, you could always count on Jim to give it to you.

He will be missed.

Druxy, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend.  My condolences.  Here's (http://www.comcast.net/articles/entertainment-movies/20100918/US.Obit.James.Bacon/) an article about him.

Why are there so many thousands of cords and wires for the TV, DVR, DVD player, and telphones.

Does dealing with all of those cords give anyone else an anxiety attack? Whew, I was a mess getting all this crap hooked up.

And I still have one extra cord. That can't be good.

DR MBarnum, is your home telephone still the same? I don't want to have a horrid surprise when my caller ID doesn't know who's tormenting torturing calling me.

Indeed, all of my phone numbers have remained the same.

Finished watching Le Cercle Rouge and am not in the mood to do another film, even though it's early enough to do so.  Don't know what I feel like doing.  I guess I can tell the story I was going to tell before, an astonishing tale of stupidity and entitlement the likes of which I've never seen.  Because I'd worked all day and jogged two and a half miles, which pretty much worked off some of my lunch, which wasn't that huge, I decided to treat myself to an apple fritter.  So, I drove over to Yum Yum Donuts.  I pulled into the parking lot but another car was determined to get there first, and with screeching tires and blocking everything so that he and his girlfriend could park first, they did so.  I parked and came into the store to find this very ugly idiot and his plain girlfriend lambasting the very nice Hispanic girl behind the counter.

From what I could glean it seems these two were there at some point, perhaps the night before.  The girl had felt ill and asked to use the restroom.  Only there is no public restroom at Yum Yum Donuts, as is sometimes the case with places like that.  There is, of course, an employee-only bathroom, but the employees are forbidden to allow anyone to use it - that's the way it works.  They don't know who people are - these people could have been robbers, or crazy, or rapists.  Anyway, as she should, the employee said she was sorry but couldn't let the girl back there.  According to them, the girl then went outside and threw up.  They were furious - they said it was against the law to refuse the girl in an emergency.  Yeah, right.  They demanded the girl's name, the store phone number, the manager's name and threatened legal action.  Yeah, right.

This ugly twit would not shut up - and I, a customer waiting to order, had to stand there like so much fish.  Well, they finally left.  I commiserated with the nice Hispanic girl and she gave me the rest of the story that the idiot fellow had conveniently left out.  They hadn't even been customers!  They'd pulled in, come into the store and demanded the use of the restroom.  That's right, you heard correctly - they hadn't purchased anything, they had no intention of purchasing anything, it was just their RIGHT to come barging in and make a demand, a demand that the employee could not meet without losing her job.  But that's not all.  The girl was sick because - she was DRUNK.  Sloppy, disgusting DRUNK.  Can you imagine the chutzpah of these two cretins?  First of all, had they driven another forty-five seconds down Magnolia they would have come to an Arco station that has a - wait for it - public restroom.

I hope these idiots actually try to do something - can you imagine a lawyer listening to this story?  It is to laugh.  Karma will take care of these two buffoons.

A show that consistently earns $850,000 to $1,000,000 (suggesting it should logically be returning $300,000 to $400,000 of investment on average) - had better be able to forecast a recoupment after 40 weeks.

(Hasn't it only been about 25 weeks so far?)

I did all my errands today.  Car wash, laundry, market, nursery.  Just in case you needed to know.  ???

I'm hoping the reflective tape I put in the palm tree over my car takes care of the (rats with wings) pigeon poop.  I have to clean if off every night after the sun goes down.  This is my parking space under the overhead light I leave on all night.

Well, it's movie time.  Decisions, decisions, maybe one with a hunky guy, maybe a comedy, maybe a sci-fi.

Better think about how long I can stay awake first.

Have a good Sunday everyone.  8)

I got distracted from the job at hand, so I still have more to do to get ready for the auditor.  I brought all that home and am thinking about diving in and doing it tonight so I can have all day and tomorrow night without having to work on office stuff

Vibes you finish your work quickly and accurately, Cilla!

Thanks TCB.. There were a few little mistakes months ago that I got too frustrated about finding and of course now it was even harder to sort it out, but I think I finally got it done.  Like I said no biggie, just those frustrating transposition type mistakes. I'll do the final step tomorrow and I'll be ready for both the auditor on Monday and the new accountant on Tuesday.  then I should never had to do this again!

Yes, it's in Pella, where my Dutch relatives came from.   Glad everyone enjoyed the letters!

My mom used to make it once in a while. No idea why -- we weren't German.

My husband put "German" down as his ethnicity or nationality or whatever on the nosy census. He has never had sauerbraten and won't try it.
