And the word of the day is: FULVOUS!
I'm trying to think of which musicals to show my niece (or let her listen to). She is 5 and crazy about ANNIE (she sings and listens to it every night).
I just gave her the cd of the LION KING because it is coming here this fall and my sis it taking her for her birthday.
She heard a bit of the LES MIS concert and seemed interested in that.
She is a creature of habit. So she might not be willing to try too many new shows.
I do have the dvd of JOSEPH which I want to let her watch. I'm wondering if she would enjoy act 1 of INTO THE WOODS (I love that show but it still may be too old for her).
Did you announce your new yet, Jose?
Oh... And some other good news...
My friend, Andy, surprised me with tickets to the Kennedy Center production of Follies. He really wanted to see the show, but hates going alone. And since he knew I loved Sondheim, well... :)

When are you seeing Follies? I'll be there for the May 7th performance. Will you be on board for the possible transfer of Oklahoma to Broadway?
Oh, and by the way, CONGRATS!
That's great news about Oklahoma!, Jose! Sorry about the need to pack up and move again. I haven't moved in 30 years. I'm not sure I would be up to it.
I have to go to work.....God grant me the wisdom to remember the tragic events going on around the world and to greet any petty inconveniences I may encounter today with proper perspective ....
DR Jane, chlorine must be bad for nails because mine too never look good after I've swam. :(
Friday morning greetings! I've been over on Facebook, where my cousin in Japan has posted that he and his family are OK. They live near Nagoya, which is pretty far from the quake and they're not in the path of the tsunami.
Did you announce your new yet, Jose?
I haven't, but I guess now is as good a time as ever...
I was asked to come aboard Arena Stage's remount of Oklahoma! as the Assistant Conductor/Keyboard Player. I start rehearsals back down in DC in June, the show opens in July, and it will run through October. And I will finally be making my long-delayed conducting debut in DC.
And that's my news. ;)
They are now 22 minutes late.
They were supposed to be here at 7 a.m. But they called at 6:58 to reschedule to 10 a.m. It is now 10:45.They are now 22 minutes late.
I don't know why you expected them to be on time. ;)

I had mentioned it in passing a few weeks, but my landlord did indeed to sell the building. So... Long story short, I've been spending the past week packing up and cleaning my apartment. Most of my stuff will be going into storage, but I will be moving into a friend's place - he just booked a tour and needed a subletter , so...
And since two of my current apartment-mates were already moving out, and since it was proving very difficult to find new roommates, well...
It really seems that everything is falling into place, happening for a reason.

This past Monday, I was playing auditions for the Tokyo Disneyland Resort and Disney Sea...
I really hope that all of the current Cast Members and their families have been able to communicate with each other. -At least I know that my friends who work in the casting and production office in Tokyo are currently in Orlando continuing their audition tour.

I bought the cooktop a few years ago. The original one was literally shocking me when I cooked. And I got a new oven back then, too.

I've also been dealing with some Bank of America stuff - they have, of late, become a little relentless about calling and offering new services - the problem is, they call and don't tell you what the call's about, so you get the impression there's something wrong when there isn't. It happened two weeks ago and it happened this morning and I am going to have it stopped if I have to go all the way to the top of the BofA food chain. I called back this gal who called and all you get, relentlessly, is her machine, which tells you to leave a number, the name of your business (a good indication that this isn't really about a problem) and she says she'll get right back to you. Not. I am now on a CRUSADE!!!Yeah, I hate it when BoA calls. I'm seriously thinking of switching banks as a result of the calls I get. If I'm working at home, it's at least three a week.

Nice kitchen, Laura. What's going to be the first meal prepared in it?
Later tonight I'll change the quote to something the plumber said.

Spent a couple of hours making room in my closet for the 10 new items I bought this week. In addition to removing all the baggie britches, I found some things that I can wear again, after many, many years ;D

Are Jeanne, BK, RLP, Mike Barnum, JMK, TCB, Jed & Ann, in any danger of Tsunami related disasters?

Nice kitchen, Laura. What's going to be the first meal prepared in it?
Probably oatmeal.
But I have to get the stovetop hooked up again.
I had to get shocked several times before I got the okay to get a new stovetop.
Sam lives on the beach.
Hello, everyone.
Reporting in. No tsunamis in my 'hood. But, as I live in a predominately Japanese neighborhood, I suspect many nearby families are worried and grieving.
Vibes to all.
A close friend of mine had a small stroke about a month ago. He knew what was happening at the time. He phoned his health plan (Kaiser), filled them in, and asked for an appointment. They gave him one two weeks off. A mutual friend said, "Uh, I think you need to see a doctor sooner." My friend agreed, called Kaiser back, leaned on them, and got an appointment for the next day. The doc said my friend needed to have his arteries cleaned out and scheduled the surgery for this coming Monday. Since then there has been blunder after blunder, including THREE prescription errors, each of which could have been fatal. In addition, the drug they gave him to lower his blood pressure has made him ill. He asked them to change it, but they refused, saying that they don't like to change medication prior to surgery. Each time I talk to him the story has gotten worse. Today I suggested that he cancel Monday's surgery--or at least postpone it. They've shown themselves to be so incompetent and uncaring that I am worried that he won't make it through.
It is similar to Corian, Jeanne. Just a different company.
But they were ripping you off more.
Hello, everyone.Sorry to hear that.

Another congrats to DR Ginny on her recent weight loss. You've EARNED all those new clothes! Some photos? I'm glad you've heard from your cousin in Japan and that he and his family are out of harm's way.
Re BofA. I opened a BofA account when I moved back to California. They made so many blunders, including putting my deposit into the WRONG account, that I finally closed the account. I have an account with US Bank now and they have been MUCH better. I don't think it should even be legal for the sorts of calls that Bruce has been receiving. I've gotten them, too, and it's very easy to panic! As for that, "This is a courtesy call" nonsense, I usually reply, "No, this is a SALES call and there's nothing courteous about it." I REALLY detest telemarketing. Can you tell??
That was TCB, Jane. Unless I missed one from td.

That's fantastic!
Weren't almost all the FOLLIES center weekend seats in first 15 rows moved up to $150 or something like that (or maybe it came to $150 per seat with the service charge)? I'd heard from the box office phone person they'd put in some kind of pricing based on demand or something like that?
Congrats, Jose. Everything falling into place is wonderful news.
Gosh - at those prices I am afraid I do not foresee many Kennedy Center viewings in my future :(Weren't almost all the FOLLIES center weekend seats in first 15 rows moved up to $150 or something like that (or maybe it came to $150 per seat with the service charge)? The pricing for tickets at the Kennedy Center has been running higher than Broadway for a few seasons now. -Just like when I was in Los Angeles for What If? and the prices at The Pantages for Hairspray topped out at $140 - and that was for the regular-priced center orchestra seats.
I'm wondering if the Kennedy Center went ahead and re-alloted the number of seats at each price point. ???
My next research paper can be anything of my choice. I'd like to do something related to musicals just to have some fun. Any ideas?

This is something that a friend of mine were wondering about: Why is there no "Sleeping Beauty" musical? -Is it because the main character spends most of the time asleep? ;)

Checking the news DR Sam seems to have high waves. I expect she is at work and I don't know how close to the ocean she is.
DR's JMK & MBarnum should be fine, as should Bruce. It would have to be an extremely big tsunami to reach DR Jeanne and that isn't expected.
My guess, DR Ron is far enough inland.
As for DRs George, TCB, Ann & Jed my personal belief is they will be fine. TCB is close to the water but I can't find anything that says his area had to evacuate. I'll search a bit more for news.

I'm a little ticked at the movie theater. Last week I called the newspaper about the Oscar Contest because I haven't received the passes yet. Angie said she had contacted the theater and they had to get them from their corporate and needed the name of the winner. OK. Today I called her again. She said that she was thinking about it today too and had emailed the theater but hadn't heard back. I was up for a movie this weekend, but don't really want to pay if I'm supposed to have a free pass.

Just walk up to the box office:
"Hello, I'm supposed to pick up the movie passes I won."
-What movies passes.
"The ones I won."
-Are you planning on seeing a movie tonight?
"Yes, but only if I can use my free passes."

"Well, they were supposed to sent here from the corporate office."

And as the line behind you gets longer and longer, they should just eventually let you in for free. ;)

I believe she was "in costume" for that appearance. She had prosthetics on her cheekbones as well as next to her eyes.
