Wednesday morning greetings! My alarm today was the phone - a call from the hospital looking for a number for my cousin. So much for the jazzy new electronic record-keeping...
Anyway, it doesn't sound good and I'm praying that whatever happens happens quickly and without too much discomfort for her.
Maybe I should start getting up earlier too. :-\
Death Takes a Holiday.....remember the play that Penny was writing in YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU? (A typewriter was delivered by mistake, so she decided to become a playwright).
Penny was writing SEX TAKES A HOLIDAY.....

I wonder if Sex and Death stayed at the same place.
Ginny, I pray that if it is her time, your aunt's passing will be peaceful.
And the word of the day is: COSHER!
And the word of the day is: COSHER!
I need to travel down to the 7-11 today to inform them that the weakeness of their wireless signal makes piggy-backing off of them quite difficult.
Sorry to hear about your Aunt Pauline, DR JRand.
Ginny, I pray that if it is her time, your aunt's passing will be peaceful.
Ibid.
My Aunt Pauline passed away yesterday morning at 10 a.m. She was nearly 90 years old and had lived in a "facility" for more than 10 years.....and did not recognize anyone when they visited. It is a sad, but necessary part of living.....this dying business.

How many languages can you say that in?
Just read that the Academy of Moving Pictures has revised the rules for the Best Picture Oscar. The number of movies nominated will now be five up to ten instead of a solid ten as it has been set for the past two years. I guess the ten picture nominees thing didn't work out the way the movie studios thought it would...
Yes it was peaceful.
Thanks DR's.....yes having memories is a lovely thing.
Aunt Pauline and Uncle Bill lived next door to us when I was between 1-3 years old.....I would always watch out the front screen door to see when she came out and headed to her car.....
When she did, I would run out across the yard calling her name.....and more times than not....she would say: "Come on, Jackson....let's go...." And we would drive all over town to do whatever she needed to do, and then stop at the Rexall Drug Store for ice cream or Coke....
Why does this commercial remind me of our DR MBarnum?

Mine too.....but I can't wash it myself.....bad shoulders.....and I can never get the automatic ones to work.....I have to go someplace where they hand wash it.....and I ain't going to no High School or Church Car Wash which are useless.
Hmm. I wonder if he's talking about adopting a daughter or a dog.
* * * * * Vibes for DR Ginny and her family * * * * *Ditto

I was by myself from June 2002 (when my husband passed away) till March of this year. I'll be ok alone.
The bad thing about Ventura is that it really is a bar town.
The good thing about Ventura is that the AA meeting is across the street from me.
And it has a really good looking man .

LOL DR MBARNUM....we took car trips around town until I was in my twenties....

Dog vibes for DR MATTHEW.
DR LAURA - Lana's husband claimed he was not involved and had nothing to do with her death.....and everybody except our family believed him.....at the funeral he went up to the casket and took the VERY EXPENSIVE wedding and engagement rings off her finger just as they were closing the casket. "She doesn't need them any more," he said.

Creepy. I can understand wanting them as keepsakes or to pass on to a relative, but the way he said it-yuck.

Yup - although I think his third and fourth wife wore them.

;)
DR Ginny how is your mother doing?
DR Ginny how is your mother doing?
Thanks for asking, DR Jane. I think she's OK. My sister and niece were both going to call her today and they're both standing ready to come here from Michigan and Illinois, respectively, if need be.
And, Jane, you can say "s**t" again, because my aunt is on a ventilator...

Congratulations, George! You're rich!
*It's actually going well today. I knew that this part of my prep would be a bit tedious, but I'm also coming across some nice subtleties and surprises in Richard Rodney Bennett's orchestrations. Which leads me to a question of two...

I haven't commented here since last September?? Geez. OK, I'll visit much more often! My thought for today (well, one of my thoughts today): I have to work on some lesser-known Cole Porter songs for my rehearsal tonight...

Obviously, they'll try anything. ::)

Robert Russell Bennett's orchestrations, dear!
So, FOLLIES is coming to Broadway after all? I wonder if they'll replace the director?One can only hope! I'm only able to judge via an ootlegbay, but--Yeesh! Not only is Peters miscast, but she wears a snazzy red dress and is in a nice pair of heels throughout the party scenes. In no way is she Sally from Phoenix in 1971. When she appears in her gown for her follies number, it just looks like a costume change. I blame the director for these choices.
I don't think this transfer is such a done deal yet - there are no producers named and no one seems to know where the dough is coming from. And a six month limited run? For Follies? There is no way it would be anything but a total washout, financially, so unless they've got a benefactor who doesn't mind losing a few mil, then I'd wait for another announcement with more details.
Dates, Broadway casting and ticket information will be announced soon. The New York Times reports that the New York production will also feature a 28-piece orchestra and will likely run through the winter holidays. Contract talks with the actors have yet to begin.
I have returned from the market where I purchased everything I could remember I needed and then some. I also posted my NY State estimated tax payment, and I passed on the street an actor I recognized from one or several of the LAW & ORDER franchises. Beats me.

Oh yes, the MRSA has returned.
DR Jose, do you know this fantastic book about the making of the show? No one really knws how much of the Dream Ballet was done by whom. The original Hammerstein ballet called for a circus, with Aunt Eller as a bareback rider, as I recall, and DeMille told Hammerstein, "No young lady has a stupid dream like this; they dream about sex." She was contractually required to use music from the score, but she didn't bring Trude Rittmann in as dance arranger until her next show, "One Touch of Venus."
Russell Bennett most assuredly did a lot of the work on the ballet, since he scored it, but I think a lot of it was cobbled together for DeMille by her rehearsal pianist, whose name I've forgotten. He might be mentioned on one of the videos from North Carolina School of the Arts and he might also be mentioend in Steve Suskins book, since there's a lot in it about "Laurie Makes Up Her Mind."

Not that they're the official word, but Playbill.com has announced (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/151864-Kennedy-Center-Follies-Will-Transfer-to-Broadways-Marquis-Theatre) it...but then the article says:QuoteDates, Broadway casting and ticket information will be announced soon. Mine very own internets, courtesy of Comcast. I am going to start a blog called F*** Qwest. Details at 11.
Oh, didn't realize that there is a new Next Food Network Star. Glad my DVR did

Thank you to DRs Cillaliz and Jose for the vibes.
My cousin went directly to the hospital upon arrival from GA and I think he was quite stunned. He called about 7:30 and said, "A priest might come in handy," so Richard, Rob, and I all went. My cousin's wife is driving in from GA tomorrow and my cousin from Japan is flying in and I suspect there will be some decisions made about discontinuing life support after their arrival.
Your continued vibes and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Continued vibes and prayers to Ginny and family
Ditto.Oh yes, the MRSA has returned.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~MRSA GO AWAY AND STAY AWAY VIBES TO YOU, DR TCB~~~~~
Today I saw three young Mormon men walking up the street. They looked exactly like the characters in Book of Mormon, name tags and all, I burst out laughing. Luckily I was in my car and they were walking so they didn't see me, but I was kind of hoping they would break into songLOL. I wonder if other people will be expecting the same.
A Maui rainbow (actually it was double but the second was too faint to register) and rainbow vibes for all.
