Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of not one but three cupcakes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently in their cups eating cakes.

I like the orange cupcake type things that Hostess used to sell.....but I haven't seen them for a long time.

BK: I've been interested in reading your thoughts about the Maigret series. All the episodes have a wonderful atmosphere and Bruno Cremer is wonderful in the role. Having seen box sets 1-4 so far, I think 1 and 2 had some of the best episodes - box set 2 in particular has some great episodes. I agree that the best episodes are when Maigret is away from his usual jurisdiction. I thought that box sets 3 and 4 had perhaps too many routine episodes, although they were still interesting. But then again, I may have become slightly jaded from watching so many of them in quick succession about a year ago - always a danger when watching a long series. I still intend to get box set 5 which seems to be the final set.
-
Still remarkably warm. I had a lunchtime drink in a local bar and people were sitting outside - almost unheard of at the end of November.
-
I love cupcakes, but I don't recall the "best" I've ever had.
-
I shall now be on my way to work..... Oh well.
-
Good morning, all! I slept too well and too late. As I walked barefoot across the kitchen floor, I thought, it's time to vacuum. I will do just that in another thirty minutes or so.
After that, I need to finish the bar count for the Finale of ROBERTA, and begin ceating full scores from orchestra parts. That's my day.
-

At my house I say it's time to put on shoes.

Saturday morning greetings! It's Michigan/Ohio State day and I'm about to make a double recipe of crock-pot chili. My nephew and his girlfriend arrived last night from Michigan and will pick up Gram (my Mom) in time for the noon kickoff. Mary Linda is coming from Cincinnati, but Paramedic Rob has to work all day. My sister and her husband and their daughter are on their way from Illinois and will probably be here in time for the second half.
Go, Blue!!!

TOD: Best cupcake? ANY cupcake.
-
TOD - Mary Linda's mother made wedding cupcakes - white with lemon filling and chocolate with raspberry - and here's what they looked like in the center of our table:
-
TOD:
My mom makes a delicious strawberry cake with strawberry icing (xxxx sugar mixed with strawberries is what I remember; maybe some butter, too). When she found out I loved it (from the first taste when I was about 4), she used to make cupcake versions I could take to school. They are yummilicious.

The floors are vacuumed, DR Laura, You soundas though you're adopting my insane mother's concept of housekeeping. She was such a mess yet she was sane enough to forbid my brothers and me, and our friends as well, to write a date in the dust on everything.

That was a famous Phyllis Diller line.
-
For no particular reason I pulled out Todd Rundgren's HEALING CD and am listening to it. He is such an incredibly wonderful writer and arranger and this is certainly one of his most colorful albums.
-
I had a nice time at my brother's in New Jersey last night. leftovers were quite good.

I find too many cupcakes are a bit on the dry side & more often than not I'm disappointed. The first time I had a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting was memorable.

I would like the white cupcake with lemon filling. They are all very pretty.

Good morning, 65 Guests.

I'm on the last round of Jerome Kern and ROBERTA and my mind is fried.
My copy of LOOK I MADE A HAT arrived so I've got some weeked reading. I wish someone would send me a check.
-
After that, I need to finish the bar count for the Finale of ROBERTA, and begin ceating full scores from orchestra parts. That's my day.
I should write a musical about my life, called TCB. Unfortunately elmore would have a Hell-of-a-time with the bar count on that one.
-
FJL, where in Jersey does your brother live?

You get paid for reading Sondheim's book?
-
FJL, where in Jersey does your brother live?
He's in Cranford, NJ. It's about a 20 minute ride from Newark.
-
I wish I had known this was happening today. This is in downtown Tacoma. Back in the 60's the Tacoma Mall opened, and downtown became a ghost town. Probably one of the few cities where you could get mugged going to the Christmas Tree Lighting each year. Now with the addition of new condos and upscale apartments, trendy restaraunts, theMuseum of Glass, and the Universtiy of Washington - Tacoma Campus; it has finally come back to life.
A family movie at the Pantages today at 2pm - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. After the movie the lobby will be open to the public (at 4 pm) for cocoa/cider, Santa Claus, caroling and of course the 66th Annual holiday tree lighting (at 6pm). Watch the movie trailer: http://youtu.be/OJkvka1UgUY.
We hope to see you there!

I have been there; although I think I always added an "S" to the name and called it Cransford.

I'm up - have been so since 9:45 but I just stayed in bed, reloading apps that disappeared from my iPad when I did the last update. Fortunately, they're all under purchased so I just had to reinstall them.

I suppose I'd better jog. Gorgeous outside.

Michigan is currently ahead, 40 to 34, with two mInutes to play.

Here's a photo of Phoebe last night. She seemed a bit stronger today, but she has still been doing a lot of head tilting and is still struggling a lot. They are going to take her in for the x-ray on Tuesday. Hopefully it isn't something too bad... thanks for all the vibes
-
I told mom we should get her a pirate patch for her right eye
-
Thanks for the vibes for Mom and Dad. We got their Christmas tree up and all the outdoor decorations up for them. I also did a lot of other things inside and Sam braved Black Friday to get a TV to replace mom's that was shorting out. She is VERY happy all that was done. Dad had a bad night last night with his back, hopefully the shot on Monday will help.
-
It was a bit of a challenge driving home in 45-50 mph winds, but my car is pretty aerodynamic, so most of the way it was ok. Glad to be home with the cats. They were glad to see me.
-
Continued vibes for Cilla's parents. It gets to be challenging at this stage, I know from experience. My mother got completely weird (well, weirder ;) ) after my Dad died and she was all alone in that big house. Thankfully your parents at least still have each other.

I hope that if your father's shot is the same as the one I had; that he can get relief within 12 to 24 hours like I did. And maybe it will last longer for him.
-
Thanks JMK and TCB. I think dad's getting a cortisone shot, but they don't really remember so, it may be something different. They are actually doing pretty well considering their age. I'm really glad my brother is a half a mile away He gets more than his share of things to do to help them, so I was glad to stay there and take care of a lot while I was there.
-
I am listening to a faboo collection of Johnny Gregory arrangements of 60s and 70s tv themes. We are all so lucky to have grown up when there actually *were* tv themes--some of these are simply fantastic little gems.

I must say I'm really glad to be home.

I had some Johnny Gregory LPs - or may still have them somewhere. He was a great arranger.

I've got two so far.

Michigan 40, Ohio State 34!!!
My relatives were all here by the end of halftime and we had fun eating chili and cheering the Blue onto a victory. Everyone has dispersed for the evening and we'll meet up tomorrow morning for a birthday breakfast for my Mom.

I told mom we should get her a pirate patch for her right eye
;D
VIBES THE EYE PROBLEM CAN BE FIXED!!!
The eye is really a symptom and not the problem. It's serious, we're just hoping that it's not as serious as the vet said it could be.

Cilla, did the Vet rule out a small stroke?
The vet really hasn't ruled out anything. He did find a hole at the back of her mouth that he could stick a hemostat in. It's draining (sorry for the details here) and that's a good sign. He said the location is not good, behind her eye in an area that would impact her balance and where 12 different nerves pass through. He thinks the eye is from pressure on the nerves and she just can't open it. Her balance has clearly been effected, she walks like a drunken sailor. She also does this stiff head tilt thing that he said is not a good sign.
She is on antibiotics, but she has no fever and has a big appetite, so he doesn't think it's really an infection, but he wanted to keep her on it for a few more days. If she isn't better by Monday, (it would surprise me if she is), they are to call and he will do an x-ray on Tuesday. That would give him a better idea of what is going on and whether the very thin bones between the area where there is an abcess and her brain is intact and ok.
I asked him about a tumor and he hasn't ruled that out, but doesn't know yet. He was very good at explaining the details of where the problems are etc. I explained it to mom and dad a few times (mom was at the vet but didn't quite follow him) we watched how she acted and it all made sense.
She has had an incredible appetite Mom was using a bowl that she was having trouble navigating without both eyes, so I suggested a flat plate and it worked great. This morning she stood on her back legs without falling and was standing without tilting her head. We're hoping this is a good sign and that she will continue to improve. I really don't think they gave her the right amount of antibiotics before and I'm not sure she was able to eat as much as she needs to, so hopefully we're on the right track now.
-
I should say, Phoebe sits on my dad's lap almost all day. When he doesn't have her on his lap, she is curled up in a blanket with my mom and sleeps with mom at night. She was and still is a scrawny little cat that showed up at my brother's house in really bad shape. Samantha nursed her back to health and she's lived with my parents for the past few years. They adore her, which makes this even more difficult.
-
So where is everyone?
-
Vibes to the Vix family
-
Cilla, now that you are involved will the vet speak to you on the phone once you are home? Everyone, Phoebe included, must be very grateful you went home this weekend.
-
Vibes to Jose's back....heck, Vibes to all of Jose.... :)
-
Jane, I'm sure he will. I'm planning to call him after the Tuesday appointment and will make sure mom and dad call him on Monday. I wrote it all out for them in a note on the fridge, day by day, medicine, when to call vet, why they are calling etc. They remember quite well a lot of the time, but the note will definitely help them.
-
Jane, I am home now. I came home this morning.....after unclogging the toilet, lol. There is always one more chore to do,
-
I often make notes before calling or seeing the vet so that I don't forget anything. I do the same for my doctor appointments. It is too easy to get sidetracked on one thing & forget another.
-
Welcome home!
-
Thanks!
-
Good question, Cilla, where is everybody?
-
I've been at the river.

Greetings from Buffalo! We had nice weather yesterday and today. Mostly sunny and temps in the 50s'!

My brother, nephew and his 6 year old daughter came over to my sister's house. We had a nice time. My sister played her guitar and sang a couple of songs. Then my great-niece did the same (well, let's say she strummed on the guitar!)

We'll be leaving soon for dinner. The only reservation available was for 8 pm. Now that we're in our 50's and 60's , there was some discussion as to whether that was acceptable (our first choice was 5pm).

When I first starrted going on cruises, there was no way I would have accepted a first seating for dinner. Now I can't imagine waiting until 8 to eat.
-
VERY SLOW day at work today.......but it was very BIG yesterday.
DR ELMORE - I think your idea of a bar count is VERY different from my idea of one.
-
I also cannot remember any memorable cupcakes! When I went to see The Boys from Syracuse in DC a couple of weeks ago, DR Jose and I walked by one of the popular cupcake places on our way to "Teaism." I thought about getting a cupcake afterward, but changed my mind.
-
I received my Inside Out and Melodyland Cd's today AND my CCBB autographed CD booklet.
Thanks MR BK.
I appreciate it more than you know.
-
We will HAVE two episodes of COPS tonight.
-
Goodbye for now!

Thanks JRand and KevinH

On Wednesday night I had a great teriyaki burger at Mother Nature's.
-
Thursday morning, doughnuts from Casey's
-
Thanksgiving dinner.....Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, asparagus, creamed corn, scalloped oysters, crescent rolls, and I'm thinking I may be missing something....pumpkin pie with whipped cream....
-
Oh, the mandarin orange, pineapple, sour cream, coconut and marshmallow salad
-
Thursday night....I squeezed in Turkey sandwich, but not much else
-
Friday morning....eggo waffles
-
Friday noon....left overs from Thanksgiving. Yum!
-
Friday night ....Chili, homemade corn bread, salad and my brother's chocolate pecan pie DOUBLG YUM (it's Paula Dean's recipe)
Samantha and Don invited the family over to Don's house for a chili dinner. Sam cooked...it was the first time she invited the entire family over to their house for dinner. It was a nice evening
-
Saturday morning. Mom made eggs - under done and bacon - over done. The toast was good, lol. It's the thought that counts
-
I haven't eaten since....think I'll make some dinner as soon as I get us to the next page
-
Sheesh! I'm not there yet

Never had a memorable cupcake.
Ditto...sadly. :(
;)
I've had some good ones, but not what you'd call truly "memorable."
-
Cupcakes.
I like the orange cupcake type things that Hostess used to sell.....but I haven't seen them for a long time.
There's a local Wonder Bread/Hostess store that sells these. They are quite delish...AND they use natural orange oil, NOT artificial flavors.
It's been several months since I've been there, but I think I need to check to see if they still carry them. :D

thank you all for the vibes and prayers

vibes to all that need them

How are you and DR Vixter doing?
-
I jogged, I picked up no packages and no important envelope, I ate a sandwich and a cup of chicken noodle soup, and I watched a Maigret movie - I also snoozed.
-
Just spent some time at our package-wrapping table in the basement. It was fine for getting Mom's birthday present ready, but it needs a major clean-up before the Christmas rush.
-
After I wrote that DR GEORGE, I checked at the convenience/gasoline store this morning....and there were NONE.....maybe they are seasonal in my neck of the woods.
ANOTHER great pic DR CILLA LIZ.
-
The place that I saw them is probably closed now. I'll try to remember (a Fantasticks reference!) and check on Monday. :)

It is cool, DR Jane. It's about 3 feet by 6 feet, Formica top, storage space underneath. I don't know what the previous owners used it for, but I claimed it for package wrapping when we moved in here.
-
Aww, bunny. And what a beautiful sunrise.
I really think that Bruce is missing out by not publishing a coffee table book featuring The Photos of HHW. I think it could be a huge success.

Thanks DR GEORGE....it turned out pretty good.

G'night!

I am feeling quite poorly tonight, so I believe I will head off to bed.I don't know if it's cold coming on from being out in the rain earlier in the week, if it's something passing through my system, allergies, or food poisoning, but my digestive saystem has not been functioning well for the past couple of hours. Hopefully it will pass quickly.
Good night!

BK Would Be So Proud Department: I have been caught in a Customer Service nightmare with Gevalia, the mail order coffee company. They did a smart thing several weeks ago, porting over their formerly overseas (and unintelligble) Customer Service department to a stateside facility, but in doing that, they completely erased my online account. I was getting charged for orders that weren't shipping and the call center couldn't find any trace of them, so I ultimately cancelled my account.
Except that I'm still getting order confirmations and shipping confirmations, even after probably 10 calls/emails to them over the past few weeks. I just got another shipping confirmation today, spent a few minutes researching them (including pages of consumer complaints), found out that they had been bought by Kraft a few years ago, divined the Kraft Brand Manager's name, did more research, got her email, and just sent her the most informative email ever. ;)

Eventually I am sure I will find one.

I just got another shipping confirmation today, spent a few minutes researching them (including pages of consumer complaints), found out that they had been bought by Kraft a few years ago, divined the Kraft Brand Manager's name, did more research, got her email, and just sent her the most informative email ever. ;)
Did you send it to her in care of the Music Hall?
No, but I did drop in the factoid that I cover all A&E releases online, as in looking her up, I found out she used to work for A&E.

DR JMK - I have discovered that I am looking for the December 23, 1961, Indiana Edition of TV GUIDE with a nice Holly Sprig on the cover.....
Eventually I am sure I will find one.
I hope that's it. Didn't I send you a copy of the spread years ago?
-
Beautiful sunrise, JR.
Thanks:
DR JANE, DR JMK, GEORGE again, DR TCB, and DR LAURA....
Now and then I take some bread or carrots out to Bunny.....I am hoping he is the critter who is eating the goodies.
-
Funny that Bunny should make an appearance, as I am currently watching the extremely outre but quite hilarious A FAMILY TREE, with Hope Davis playing an amnesiac wife named Bunnie.

Yes you did, but I want my OWN copy of the ENTIRE magazine - being the fanatic that I am.
-
In somewhat related news, the film also stars Dermot Mulroney, whom I couldn't figure out why he looked so different, until I realized I was thinking of Dylan McDermott. ;)

How does she know that that is her name, if she is an amnesiac? Does she just take everybody's word for it?

Sheesh, even I don't have the entire magazine. ;)

Because her extremely dysfunctional family still remembers *her*. :)

When I was little, I thought Audrey Hepburn was Katharine Hepburn's daughter.

Just spent some time at our package-wrapping table in the basement. It was fine for getting Mom's birthday present ready, but it needs a major clean-up before the Christmas rush.
I think it is cool you have a wrapping table.
It is cool, DR Jane. It's about 3 feet by 6 feet, Formica top, storage space underneath. I don't know what the previous owners used it for, but I claimed it for package wrapping when we moved in here.
:)
-
DR elmore I hope you feel better my tomorrow morning!
-
DR JMK sorting out your account vibes!!
-

I reckon you could tell if they had used it to dress deer.

Well, it took a little doing, but I have successfully configured our first ever digital picture frame. Yes, I know, welcome to the late 20th century.
-
Back from the play - a creaky little mystery adapted from a TV movie by Levinson and Link - the mechanics of this one are a little rusty and the surprises are easy to guess - I think the TV movie had Hal Holbrook, Barry Bostwick, and Katherine Ross, so that would have at least been compelling and helpful to the piece. They did a nice job of it tonight.

I finally saw the stage version of Beauty and the Beast. It is a new production but the same director and choreographer and production people. The sets and the costumes have been modified. I enjoyed it a lot and so did all the people around me especially the children.
The original production I understand was spectacular with its sets and costumes when it opened at the Palace and when it move to the Lunt-Fonaine it was "downgraded" as a friend who works for Disney told me.
There were some musical changes.
The duet version of No Matter What was dropped. (The reprise was kept)
The Battle between the Townspeople and The Enchanted Objects was dropped. I am going to guess the reason this was dropped was the Broadway ensemble had about 25 people and this production had 19.
There was an added song: A Change In Me that I believe was written for Toni Braxton when she was in the show on Broadway and it remained afterwards. The song is place before the Mob Song.
I saw an YouTube upload of the original production for Be Our Guest. The Costumes and the Sets are more elaborate than the touring but I understand why.
BUT IT WAS STILL A SHOWSTOPPER.
