Well, you've read the notes, the notes were very 1996 but with a 2012 sensibility, and now it is time for you to post until the 2012 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VISCID!
-
Topic of the Day: I barely remember it, but I'm sure that I had Internet access at work before I ever had it at home. The first access that I had at home was in an apartment when I lived in Lacey from about 1993-1998. My sister's boyfriend had AOL and I used one of his screen names for my account. I had that for a few years. Shortly after I moved in with my sister in 1998, I finally got Internet through cable on my own and have had it ever since. I barely remember dial-up speeds and am tremendously grateful for cable Internet. :D
-
Fiscal New Year vibes for DR GEORGE.
-
MR BK's work moving along apace.....I shall use his example in my work on my play......starting next week.
-
Today IS a work day. And our Read O Rama special.....our 15 minute readings that are usually $35 are only $20 on the second Saturday of every month......so all three of us are pretty booked up already.....which is okay.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Oatmeal, banana, cinnamon, walnuts and coffee.
-
TOD:
My sister Molly was the first member of the family to be on the Inner Web. I watched her do some things at her house on her computer - and at the Phoenix Theatre some of the staff members were also on the Web.
I bought a computer in 1992 - a nice Tandy computer - for word processing....it was DOS based and did not have Windows. In 1998, I bought an off brand computer and signed up with FreeWeb, a dial up service.
I joined EBAY that day, and I also spent many hours looking around for Frances Farmer and Allison Hayes information.
-
DR BEN I liked your links yesterday.
-
Or was it Thursday?
-
New York finally has some cold weather. Today and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 20s but we don't have any snow. Fine with me. By Tuesday it will be back near 50 and then it tumbles again!
-
We went to the library and took out the Complete Series for To The Manor Born starring Penelope Keith. We began to watch it last night after dinner. We also have Mrs. Santa Claus with dear Angela. I guess they forgot to put that one away in the Holiday vault. I've never seen it so we will watch that as well, along with Strawberry Blonde with James Cagney and Olivia de Haviland, a PBS version of Room With a View and the Olivier and Greer Garson version of Pride and Prejudice. Lots to watch this holiday weekend!
-
And I am off to work. Oh well.
-
And the word of the day is: VISCID!
And The Song Of The Day Is: TOGETHER,WHEREVER WE GO
-
Very cold and frosty this morning. I go into semi-hibernation mode during January and February and don't do a much.
-
TOD:
I think I first had the internet at work around about 1994. I didn't get a home computer and internet until about 1999.
-
I wrote re: the netipot
Neilmed is the company that makes the netipot. In fact what you linked in the picture is exactly what i have.
DR Jane wrote:
I thought you have a reusable pot while this photo should be a disposable plastic container.
The real netipot looks like a teapot and is reusable.
What you linked to (it's small so it might not be exactly the same thing) is their new squeeze bottle. Neilmed is the netipot company.
The squeeze bottle is reusable. You just rinse it out.
-
No more snow today. But it is going to be brutally cold. -28C is the temp now with the windchill. Brrrrr.
-
Good morning, all! I slept very poorly last night and I don't think I actually fell asleep before 3am. I am moving very slowly and I am very, very, very tired. At least I know I'll be going to bed early tonight, perhaps directly after lunch.
The cause of my anxiety? The state of the DEAREST ENEMY scores and my fears that a good friend who's very talented, isn't up to the task. I have to read him the riot act today and throw a fit, two things I am quite capable of doing at any time and place but which I'd rather not. So, this will be an interesting day. It isn't one I look forward to, however.
DR Ben, the new ROOM WITH A VIEW has a good cast - at times - but none of the greatness of the book or the Merchant-Ivory film, which I'd love to see in a theatre again. It's one of the few films in which I can still remember seeing for the first time and being completely swept up in its time and place; PSYCHO, TIME AFTER TIME, and E.T. are three others. There are more, but I'm too tired to think.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Continued Vibs for our DR TCB! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
I watched SUPER 8 last night...and was rather disappointed.
The first hour was okay, rather fun, but then the story started getting pretty silly and it lost me, particularly the CLOSE ENCOUNTERS homage ending.
-
Good morning to all
-
Good morning, all.
-
I read on Ed Asner's blog that he went to the Studio Café and once again, Mr. Bruce Kimmel was there. This must have become Bruce's hangout at some point.
-
I would love to see the new "Room with a View" and the Greer Garson "Pride and Prejudice" again. I know the latter isn't everyone's cup of tea, and there are plenty of flaws, but I find the pace and the humor satisfying in a very Hollywood way.
Elmore, I remember seeing the original film of "Room with a View" on the big screen twice and each viewing feels almost as if it were yesterday. I've wanted to go to the Florence area of Italy ever since and see those poppy fields and the blue cornflowers. What great fun Judi Dench and Maggie Smith are in that one, and Daniel Day Lewis and, well, the entire cast.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And it is Saturday.
-
I had a great day yesterday.
I started at 9:15am. I finished at 8:30pm. I was back on the UES by 9:30pm. After catching up on emails and such, the lights were out by 11:00pm.
-
...And I was back up at 7:15 this morning... And I'm on a sorta break right now.
-
Good morning!
-
I'm up and awaiting the arrival of she of the Evil Eye, after which I'll jog.
-
Betsy also uses a netipot (or however it's spelled) and loves it. I find it disturbing at the very least. :)
I finished the premiere of DOWNTON ABBEY's second season last night. The US version really is quite badly edited, especially with regard to music cues. The BD will have the unedited episodes, I may just wait three more weeks to watch the rest once the BD is out.
-
I'm trying to make my way through MYSTERIES OF LISBON as well as the new MGM-Fox BDs of the Hitchcock films this weekend.
-
I have a lot of posts to catch up on. Yikes!
-
This is very funny!
That's a Percy Faith arrangement accompanying Tony.
Betsy has just shared that all of you netipot explorers should use non-Iodized salt in your device.
Saturday afternoon greetings! Richard and I have been out and about this morning, doing errands at places that are only open until 1pm on Saturdays - me the post office to mail a birthday present to DN/G Lauren and him the repair place to pick up his car. Since I was out, I went on to the grocery store, too.
-
Where is everybody today?
-
I've got internet problems again, making me somewhat incommunicado.
-
That would do it, DR Doug R!
-
I've been busy watching and writing. MYSTERIES OF LISBON is done and need to move on to Hitchcock.
-
DR George, thanks, but mom and dad did watch it and since Jon didn't appear in the show, we really don't need any copies. I REALLY appreciate you recording it though.
-
I first got on the internet in 1992 via AOL. There was no world wide web then.
-
Our lunch went well and he didn't seem ready to kill me for reading the riot act, which manes me happy. I need to know how this copy job will work out and the sooner I know it, the better.
We are still on Page Two? No no no, this will not do!
-
I've turned into Dr Seuss!
-
I'm really quite groggy. Perhaps I should nap before getting back to work?
-
No matter how much I rant, I will nt post enough to get us to Page Three.
-
I have been out running errands all day to day and thought would stop in to say howdy
-
Is anyone going to watch the Golden Globes tomorrow night?
-
the Vixter is right now making cookie for this evening's Gathering at the church
-
We had about an inch of snow- I'll take whatever I can get, but it's all melting. Oh well
-
I"m thinking about going to the Muppet Movie
-
We sing some "folk" hymms and do some Bible studying and eat some dessert
-
As Elmore said earlier
Page Two will not do
-
We must post
-
or else our host
-
I had some strange idea that in a bout 5-10 years I may want to get a camper and travel around. So I went to a RV show today. OMG they are very very expensive, plus the cost of a vehicle to pull it. I could fly and stay in nice hotels many times before equaling the cost. At least I can free the brain space I was using with that thought
-
Will raise the Hue
-
This Will NOT DO!!"
-
I went to coffee this morning with my former neighbor Helen. It was really nice to catch up with her and hear about the new occupants of my last home. +
We watched Muppet Bohemiam Rhapsody
-
And PIIIIIIIGS IN SPAAAAAAACE with Luke Skywalker, 3CPO and R2
-
I love that one
I was referring to Bohemian Rhapsody, but Pigs in Space can be fun
-
Page 4! Won't our BK be happy?
I've been downloading to my iTunes the BBC Radio-3 broadcast of the Opera North production of Gilbert & Sullivan's RUDDIGORE, with my friend Hal Cazelet playing Richard Dauntless, the sailor dancing in the middle of the photo. I want Hal to play the romantic lead in DEAREST ENEMY.
Hal is also the great grandson of P.G. Wodehouse
-
I wonder how Elmore's cough is
-
Nice pictures Elmore!
We get Top Gear on the History Channel. Don't know if it's the same show, I've never seen it
I wonder how many weddings there will be on 12.12.12
I wonder where Ginny is
I've been in the kitchen getting everything ready to assemble in the crockpot before we leave for Lima in the morning. If all goes well we'll have split pea soup made with the bone from our Christmas ham, which has been frozen for a couple of weeks.
Just back from lunch with friends. They made duck confit and sauteed cremini mushrooms over greens with a luscious bottle of pinot noir. Now, I must nap before the symphony tonight.
Every Sunday before Valentine's Day.
I should be out of the hospital in time for this year's, but I don't know if I'll be up for chili or what I'll be eating then. Or even if my appetite is affected.
And now for something completely different:
Hail 2012! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq0KUYoltiU)
I think this should be Michigan's commercial for the 2012 broadcast sports season - very classy!
-
I wonder how Elmore's cough is
Still there.
I hate it when I let a person on a site get to me, but there is a complete ass on the cast recordng list who manages to work my last nerve with every dumbass post he makes. Oy.
My sister and brother-in-law have had several RVs. I think there current model is a 32 foot motor home. My sister says that the RV is not a vacation home for her. She still has to cook the meals, she still has to do the dishes, she still has to make the beds, and she still has to do the laundry. In addition, the beast only gets around 8 mpg, so it is not cheap unless you want to just park it in the driveway.
Me!
Well, actually I will be watching tomorrow afternoon starting at 4:00 p.m.
-
I find it interesting to see dear readers come to HHW, and then leave without ever posting.
-
This afternoon, my friend, Betzy, and I were talking about the Costa cruise ship and how people were comparing it (wrongly) to the Titanic, when it actually more closely resembles the Andrea Doria. Just then my postal carrier delivered my copy of SAVED: The Story of the Andrea Doria, which I bought on ebay last week,
-
We will be watching the 1979 Christmas special from To the Manor Born as soon as Anthony finishes washing the dinner dishes.
We are enjoying it a great deal (said in a posh English accent).
-
TCB, we loved the bit when they went back to Santa's workshop and Jeter and the two elves brought in the present for Santa and the underscore music was We Need a Little Christmas.
We also caught sight of Mr. Herman himself playing piano in a saloon soon after Mrs. Claus' arrival in New York.
Lots of fun.
Has she ever tried the squeeze bottle one? It is the same idea but much easier. You don't have to tilt your head. But you get the same result. My sister has used both and she much prefers the squeeze bottle.
God love DR TCB! He should hold those vbes for himself, but yeah, vibes are welcome for a happy conclusion.
G'night!
I am off to bed, too! I'm tired from too little sleep last night and i'm sure it's contributing to my current unhappiness. Perhaps tomorrow will look better.
Yes, although they call it a "crib" They end up using Richard's but because Ned was involved in the electrics all sorts of things go wrong.
Good Evening!
Well... Due to a change in the schedule, my afternoon session basically turned into one lone six and a half hour session for me. It all went very well, but, needless to say, I'm a bit tired right now. My eyes are tired, my brain is tired.
Thankfully, I don't start until Noon tomorrow. It will be nice to sleep in a little bit.
-
Good old Century Link left us without an internet connect or phone service all day. I am pleasantly surprised they are back already.
'night
-
It's about time for me to start working on the spare room upstairs. I think tomorrow I'll start working on the wallpaper removal. Yuck. Mom and Dad may need to stay here when we go to Joplin, so I need to have a place for them to stay. That means sort through the boxes in the office and get that stuff put somewhere so that the futon can be pulled out.
-
It's not really that bad, just some boxes that I moved up there last summer before the party.
-
The other room needs lots more work. I'd really like to get the wall paper off and the floor cleaned well. I believe the painting can wait until spring. I was going to get a day bed or a new sofa sleeper for the room, but they are really more than I want to spend right now, so I think I can take the big futon in the basement apart and take it upstairs and put it back together. I think I can do that myself, but if it isn't possible, I'll ask for help.
-
It's going to be 53 here tomorrow.
-
Great concert. Start of the Beethoven festival. They did symphonies 1 and 3, very energetic. In the next six weeks, they will do all of the symphonies, while five or six of the chamber groups in town do various other Beethoven pieces.
-
The basement futon is really a good one and it doesn't get used down there unless we have a tornado warning, lol. I'll take my old recliner down the basment....I think this will work and will only cost me the money for paint.
-
It was 75 here today, but the cedar is so high that I don't dare go outside.
-
Lots of work to do....it's been a long time since I've had time to work on the house.
-
Page eight!
-
Have fun with the house work, Cillaliz.
-
Vibes for both Elmore and TCB.
I was at work all day today...when I got there, it was raining. At some point during the day, there was actually some sun shining. It was mostly overcast, but sunlight could be seen. When I left, it had been snowing and I didn't even notice! Talk about diverse weather!
I'm now actually watching the Miss America Pageant (don't judge me ;)), and someone in the audience who must be close to the audience microphone because she SCREAMS every time anyone's name is announced! :P
-
DR George, thanks, but mom and dad did watch it and since Jon didn't appear in the show, we really don't need any copies. I REALLY appreciate you recording it though.
Not a problem. :)
Is anyone going to watch the Golden Globes tomorrow night?
I'll record it. I'm ushering in the afternoon during the live broadcast, but it'll be rebroadcast as soon as it's over.
made my brain work over time
That statement reminds me of this picture (YOU, Cilla, don't remind me of this picture :D):
The Vixters and her friends went to the Beauty & The Beast 3D movie
I want to see that...and soon!
Does anyone else have BBC America?
I do...and finally in hi-def!
I wonder what Bruce Kimmel is up to tonight
I wonder what the king is doing tonight?
What merriment is the king pursuing tonight?
The candles at the court, they never burned as bright.
I wonder what the king is up to tonight?
How goes the final hour
As he sees his bridal bower
Being regally and legally prepared?
Well, I'll tell you what the king is doing tonight:
He's scared! He's scared!
They're in the talent portion of the Miss America pageant and Miss New York is singing a shortened version of "Disneyland"! She's not bad.
I am back from a whirlwind trip to the LA area, during which I sat on my butt for two days of meetings. Not fun.
What a long, involved day. I had to leave, of course, and never had time to come back until after dinner. I did manage to do my finessing before I left. I saw the matinee, I had a lovelier than lovely dinner, wrote about eight pages, went to a birthday party, came home and wrote ten more pages.
