Well, you've read the notes, the notes were now playing, and now it is time for you to post until the now playing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CACHINNATE!
-
A Very Happy Birthday to DR FJL!! ;D
-
Happy Birthday, DR FJL!
May it be filled with much happiness, merriment, and CAKE.
-
Hope TCB is doing well....miss him when he's not here posting.
-
Wish I could have been in L.A. in the 60's for many reasons....would have appreciated the theater.
I was busy in the early 70's getting tear gassed in Washington, D.C.
-
Such is life.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Happy Happy Day to FJL.
-
Early morning thanks to George, to Iris, and to Ben.
And of course to BK
-
Good morning, all! Yesterday, I spent around five hours with Curtis going through all of the storage area of Toyland, pitchng out empty cartons, removing personal things that had accumulated over ten years of working in a space. from jackets and umbrellas to compact discs, magazines and books. It was a good work day and very necessary.
Today, I have another trek to Toyland. I need the space to lay out and tape the band parts for DEAREST ENEMY. I'll be there a lot the next couple of weeks. I'll cart some of my possessions still at Toyland home with me today as well.
I see that Amazon has finally begun shipping the Herbert Songs. I'm hoping it sells well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excellent Vibes and Xylophones to one and all for a good, healthy, and prosperous middle of the week! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to our DR FJL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Good Wednesday morning (it's good because I don't have to go anywhere or do anything, though I do hope I'll get moving and Take the Day, in some way, at some point).
Vibes to all, and to all a good day. Happy birthday to DR FJL.
-
Stunned at the Now Playings. Yet another world I can wish I'd known.
-
Thanks to Larry, and to ChasSmith
-
! ! ! ! ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR FJL ! ! ! ! !
-
A very Happy Birthday Cake and Ice Cream Day
Take a bite, put it in your mouth, swallow and then repeat
-
All the kind vibes for anyone who needs them.
-
I love coming across entertainment sections of old newspapers and looking through the ads of currently playing theatre productions, movies and concerts. Always fun to check out who was playing at the Latin Casino.
-
Thanks so much, Dan and thanks to Mike also!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Today is my first day to relax since about a week ago and, of course, I woke up about 7. I've been drinking coffee and finishing Stephen King's 11/22/63 on my Kindle.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR FJL - hope to see you later this month!
-
For some reason my eye picked up just this part:
I woke up about 7. I've been drinking
:o
-
LOL, DR ChasSmith, you must be confusing me with my 93-year-old Scotch-drinking mother!
-
DR George is the thing RE: GLEE that you are talking about related to Rachel's audition?
-
I called my HMO to see if I could get an appointment with my doctor this week. Well, she's away away all week, and they didn't offer to make an appointment with another doctor. Does no one handle my doctor's patients while they're gone? Inept HMO. Ridiculous. I could be dead by nextMonday, which is when they told me to call back.
-
And, since i am clearly in excellent health, according to Health Plan of New York, I guess I'll limp to Toyland.
-
Happy Birthday to DR FJL!
-
So I checked in the nest this morning. I had to use a mirror to see inside because my stepladder was not tall enough.
Yep there are 2 eggs in there (I think 2). The weird thing is the color. They were a bluish green. So when do the birds come back to visit them? Also I am curious how long they will take to hatch. :(
-
And the word of the day is: CACHINNATE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: THE LAUGHING SONG
(MEIN HERR MARQUIS)
HAP-HAP SLAP-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DR FJL
Happy Birthday, DR FJL!
Happy Birthday to FJL!
Sticker shock!
I've been invited to appear at a couple of horror conventions: one in Seattle late this month, and the other in Burbank in late October.
:)
So, yesterday I started checking air fares...and they have virtually doubled from what they were a few months ago. Fuel prices, I assume.
:o
To fly from Austin to Seattle and back, it costs close to $1000...and, there's a plane change.
:o :o
I told the Seattle people "Maybe next year".
:'(
Los Angeles and Burbank are around the same price, about $500+.
:o :o
I'll hold off on my decision on that one for 2-3 months; see what happens.
:-\
-
In the meantime, I'm DRIVING up to Dallas tomorrow to do Texas Frightmare Weekend.
-
Happy Birthday, FJL!
-
Did anyone else read the AP article this morning on the 5 idiots who were arrested for attempting to blow up the bridge in Cleveland? It lists the first three and then states the FBI has determined they were anarchists. Then the article goes on for a while, and then finally lists the other two and says "it wasn't immediately clear if they were anarchists." That made me LOL.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy, happy, FJL. Hope it's a lyrical day.
-
Happy Birthday DR FJL!
And thanks for sharing the poster for the upcoming production of Herringbone?
Didn't they do the show in Indianapolis many years ago?
-
I loved reading about the LA shows! Wow! Lots of things that I would have liked to have seen! AND JOHN GABRIEL!!!
-
MR BK's notes inspired me to get out a couple of programs from years ago....just a couple of them....
From Starlight Musicals in Indianapolis:
7 Brides for 7 Brothers with Jane Powell & Howard Keel
Gypsy with Gisele MacKenzie....The Jack Benny Show....The Carol Burnett Show..Gordon MacRae in Oklahoma!....Edie Adams in Can-Can....Dorothy Collins in My Fair Lady....Forrest Tucker in The Music Man.
Bob Fosse's Dancin' .... The Perry Como Show
And from MR BK's Valley Music Theatre;
Mickey Rooney in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum....Janet Blair in South Pacific....Victor Borge....Harve Presnell in Camelot....and ONE WEEK ONLY...An Evening with Ted Lewis, Sophie Tucker, and George Jessel
-
Today is Theodore Bikel's birthday.....and the announcer on TCM is calling him Theodore Bickle.
-
I loved reading about the LA shows! Wow! Lots of things that I would have liked to have seen! AND JOHN GABRIEL!!!
Me, too.
Travis Bickle's folk singing older brother? "You strumming at me?"
-
Today is Theodore Bikel's birthday.....and the announcer on TCM is calling him Theodore Bickle.
Dear friend Maureen, who will be here for my birthday celebration, played Golde in much of the most recent national tour opposite Mr. Bikel's Tevye.
-
Jrand - Skip thanks you for the alert about the Indianapolis production of HERRINGBONE. Sending invoice for royalties as I type. (Just kidding. :) )
-
Thanks for the birthday wishes and cake (cyber-cake is perfect for my diet) to Kerry, and to Jennifer, and to Ginny (yes, hope to see you on this trip though I may not be there that night, Skip naturally will be), and to Arnold Brockman
(more in next post)
-
and also thanks to Druxy, and to JMK, and to JohnG, and to Jrand
-
Trying to keep posts numbers up on my birthday
-
Question (maybe for the TOD?)
I've found that I can actually use all-frequent-flyer miles to go to L.A. on Memorial Day weekend if - and only if - I travel on off-times.
Since I don't drive, I'm told the smartest thing to do is to choose a hotel near the airport and use that as a base.
Does that sound logical?
-
I've been catching up on paperwork and emails. Sheesh, being away 3 extended weekends out of 4 last month sure contributed to my backlog!
-
Ginny - thanks also for the Facebook post. I'm confused on how to thank you there, so I'll thank you here.
-
A very happy birthday to DR FJL!!
If I had lived in Los Angeles in the 1960s I think I would have been to the theatre every day!
-
Happy Birthday, DR FJL!!
-
Well it's not listed in their production history DR FJL......so I must be thinking of a different one-man show......I AM getting old.
-
Hello, goodbye
-
No gym today. After work, a lovely walk in the woods.
-
So Auntie Gladys is giving FJL some pants and figurines. How sweet of her.
-
She's just that way.
-
More from Starlight Musicals Indianapolis:
From 1962: Bye Bye Birdie - Johnny Desmond. Ginger Rogers - Annie Get Your Gun. Marion Marlowe - New Moon. Juanita Hall & Ramon Navarro - Flower Drum Song.
Bye Bye Birdie with Elaine Dunn, Bill Hayes, and Joan Blondell - not sure of the year of this. But Eddie Applegate later of The Patty Duke Show is playing Hugo and Jesse Pearson is playing Conrad....he also did the movie. ;D
-
Auntie Gladys always did give the best presents, after all!
-
Happy Birthday, Fred!
-
Speaking of which, my niece Katie is having a baby girl in August. As a good uncle, I am always trying to assist with baby names...oddly enough, no one ever takes to my choices. I have been trying to convince Katie and her hubby Brian that Gladys, Irene, or Agnes would be delightful names for a little girl.
-
All right! It's time to roll out the Landau for a Birthday Drive.
Happy Birthday, Fred (DR FJL)!
-
My Mom's rehab roommate had the news on last night with the sound off when that story came on. As they were flashing the suspects' pictures I thought to myself "I don't know the name of this band."
-
I have a friend named Agnes. She goes by her middle name, Gail.
-
I bet that Mickey Rooney would have been a hoot in FORUM.
-
The 11:30 shows were always better, though the comedians tended to be a little bluer at that hour...
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v130/WandaDuck/latincasino.jpg)
I ran out of tape. Time to head home.
-
WOW - DR DtM - 14 shows a week for those folks! No cover no minimum!
Jrand, that's the tour of Birdie cast - it played here in LA with that cast and I have the program.
-
I'm up after a completely weird and slightly irritating morning. I woke up at six-thirty and could not fall back asleep. I finally did around an hour later, I guess. Then the phone woke me up at ten-forty - it was the helper. Apparently we've been contacted by the "manager" of a singer - she is outraged that he's on our Bacharach CD. The helper informed us that it has nothing to do with us and she needs to call the CHARITY who asked us to put it out. I believe all performers sign releases, BTW. But of all the people in that show to make a stink, he's about the lowest on the totem pole - and isn't that always the way? And I can tell you, that of all the "known" people on that CD, for my money he's the lowest on the totem pole.
-
However, if we were to ever have to stop selling that CD because of him, well, I'm sure we'd just have to put that information everywhere - I should think that sort of publicity would not be good for an ex-American Idol person, but what do I know.
-
If you want the eggs identified you will have to go back up there with your camera ;)
Can you see the nest from an inside window? It is really fun to watch baby birds in a nest, though worrisome too when they are so close to the house.
I can't help you with the time frame.
-
Happy Birthday, DR FJL!
Yummy & pretty :)
-
Sticker shock!
Chances are we will be going to Chicago for Bryan's graduation but we don't really know. We were about to purchase tickets when Sherlock was diagnosed. I hate to think what it will cost to buy them at the last minute.
I suggest writing to DR Jose who seems to be an expert on getting around LA by public transportation. I wouldn't want to stay at an airport hotel if it wasn't easy to get from the hotel to where I was going.
Good luck!
I'm sorry, I think these are horrible names. ;D
Can't see in it. But i can see when the mother bird stops by (didn't know i could see this, but i can!). Well i can see the top of the mommy bird. The eggs were so odd. Looked like they were dyed for Easter.
-
I hope this experience turns out to be a fun one for you.
DR George is the thing RE: GLEE that you are talking about related to Rachel's audition?
Yes...I'd forgotten that it was part of the previews from the week before.
And I am home! I've put two rolls of 3/4" artist tape in my bag for tomorrow's trek to Toyland.
-
I don't know why, but after two weeks of multiple orders every day like clockwork, yesterday things came to a complete halt - not one order yesterday and today one finally came in - we need excellent vibes and xylophones for orders or this is going to be a very scary month for Kritzerland, as we put out no soundtrack CDs last month, which is going to come back and bite us in the rear end if we don't get something announced in the next day or two.
I would pity the director!
-
Well it's been a morning of sticker and other shock. Took Zach in for a review by our orthodontist about an impacted tooth, and found out it will cost $6000 to repair. Was just getting over that adrenaline rush when I returned home to find a sheath of papers stuck in my door by a Lake Oswego code enforcement officer claiming all sorts of laws had been broken by pruning the trees. I talked to my neighbor, who had actually talked to the guy, and it turns out NO laws were broken, NO permitting was required, and he was just there to "make sure everything was OK." Our city government at work. I hate people sometimes. :)
I had my periodic back treatment yesterday and am still in the throes of recovery. I always go through a day or two of feeling worse before I actually feel better. I think I should go more often, but $$ is an issue.
-
BK didn't mention A THOUSAND CLOWNS, which played at the Huntington Hartford during the early 1960s, and which BK loved, loved, loved, and would often quote from.
-
I would love to see HERRINGBONE. I was sorry I missed it in La Jolla.
Fred, If it were me I wouldn't stay near LAX (assuming that's the airport you'd be flying into). Not too far north there's Culver City and West LA, both nicer areas. I can't advise on hotels and don't know where you'll be going, but I do think you have better alternatives.
-
I've been enjoying MILDRED PIERCE and look forward to receiving disc 2.
-
TCB, how are you doing? Seeing any good signs amidst the difficulties of recovery?
-
TTFN.
-
Jrand, that's the tour of Birdie cast - it played here in LA with that cast and I have the program.
Yes you are correct, now that I look at it......and it has no local ads......so who knows how I got it? Maybe with a group of other things I bought from the inner web.
-
BK didn't mention A THOUSAND CLOWNS, which played at the Huntington Hartford during the early 1960s, and which BK loved, loved, loved, and would often quote from.
Who starred in that production of A THOUSAND CLOWNS?
Also, was there a L.A. production of that show done in-the-round in the mid-1960s...possibly with some Hollywood names?
Thanks.
-
Six thousand dollars!!!!
Kritzerland Order vibes!!!
-
Maybe said person has to try to justify her huge manager's salary - and I can't imagine there is not a SIGNED release on file someplace.
Would she rather no one HEAR it? Someone might get a job because of the CD.....but then again, maybe not.
-
A recording or video of HERRINGBONE will be a great tool get other productions done!!!
-
Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday DR FJL
I was about to say that it hasn't rained today for the first time in weeks - but I spoke too soon!
Variety has just announced From Justin to Kelly 2: The Reckoning, written and directed by Bruce Kimmel. ;D
I am sure it will be as popular as the original movie was!
I've been listening to the 1961 volume of Top Instrumental Hits, and all I can say is Percy Faith should have sued for plagiarism over Piero Soffici's "That's the Way with Love," which basically lifts whole measures from Percy's "Summer Place" arrangement.
Currently listening to Felix Slatkin's rather outre Hoedown album.
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY FJL!!!!!!!
-
I recently booked flights for two upcoming trips. The fares have definitely gone up. I'm doing the cheapest fares on Southwest for the vegas trip and it was still close to $400. It is direct from Omaha, but still.
-
Had another productive day at the office- still a lot to do to catch up, but I think we'll get there next week. Regina is working on her school stuff and won't be back this week. It's kind of a relief. We don't really have time to train her for another week or so, and I don't want her to feel like we're not giving her any idea about what she's supposed to be doing
-
This is sounding a little scary. I need to book a couple of flights for this summer and fall, so is it better to do it now, or wait a bit to see what happens? One is to L.A. in October (from any NYC area airport).
-
Who knows whether it would be better to do it now or wait. My schedule is set for me way in advance. I can usually work around it by having nonrefundable tickets purchased in advance, so I plan early
Well, I'm leaving work and going home. It feels like it's been a long day (a How To Succeed... reference), but it really hasn't.
Not enough sleep. ::)
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)
Until later!
It was sort of interesting trying to use the BBQ earlier. The mommy bird was guarding her nest. But luckily she moves if i open the door. I was sort of afraid she would do something else.
Wow. When I hear "Harper" I think of a drunk Paul Newman making coffee with yesterday's coffee grounds. Great name for a girl. LOL.
I sort of enjoyed the dance-off yesterday on DANCING WITH THE STARS. The person i liked better stayed. But the part i actually liked was that it was two equal contestants dancing. The past few weeks one person had always been much worse. Not much of a dance-off that way.
I had my periodic back treatment yesterday and am still in the throes of recovery. I always go through a day or two of feeling worse before I actually feel better. I think I should go more often, but $$ is an issue.
~~~Successful Periodic Back Treatment Vibes for DR Jeanne!!~~~
Ditto.

But it's no Maxine. Or Zenobia. Or Clotilde.

I am watching Karen Black land a 747 on Encore Channel.
I love that movie. So horrible. If she can't get her eyes straight, how can she see to land the plane?

Page seven!

Jaleel's speech was quite gracious, not what i was expecting somehow.

LOL, DR ChasSmith, you must be confusing me with my 93-year-old Scotch-drinking mother!
I raise a glass to her health!

Southwest for the vegas trip and it was still close to $400. It is direct from Omaha, but still.
For a convention?

It was sort of interesting trying to use the BBQ earlier. The mommy bird was guarding her nest. But luckily she moves if i open the door. I was sort of afraid she would do something else.
Our experience is the mother bird flies away and returns after you move a little distance from the nest.

Well, the manager of the singer got in contact with the director of the show - threw her little attitude at him, only to find out what I basically already knew - her beloved client had - wait for it - SIGNED A RELEASE, as all the performers in these shows do. Oops. Apology? No. Just, "I'll need a copy of it." I hope he tells her to go take a flying leap.

I'd have loved to have heard that exchange.
Actually listening to the ALW set now. I think I like the Tyne Daly number (surprise, surprise) best of all. Maybe it's because I didn't know the song.

I won't be up at six in the morning, but I can't wait to find out what it is...and order it.
