I am not asleep
What's in the oatmeal today?
I am not asleep
You're not? :)
Seriously, though, DR Vixmom - that's really too bad. With your schedule and load, you need all the sleep and rest you can possibly squeeze in.
I loved the arrangement for "High Hopes." And that ending! ;D
I also loved the video clip of What If? Is that our very own errant & truant DR JoseSPiano on the piano?
Well, THAT'S interesting! If a post is too large, the new board automatically inserts a scroll bar!AH!! thank you, my little computer genius!!!
This is the danish ring that DR Vixmom was posting:

so the Vixter works 6 - 11 at one job and 3:30 - 11;30 at the other today--- , her mother's daughter
Jack RANDEL
He was a very nice.
Jack RANDEL
That's his porn name.
And the word of the day is: ACCRETE!
Hope you end up on Angel Street with your production, Jack!
Is that the view off your back deck this morning, DR singdaw? :)
Hope you end up on Angel Street with your production, Jack!
And then on Easy Street, with the millions you'll rake in following its success!

I'm sure there will be a bootleg video of the production from the hordes of New Yorkers who come to IN to see the show. There will be buzz all over the Great White Way about the definitive new production of Angel Street happening in Indiana.
Break-a-leg vibes for DR JRand and company.
I'm slogging away this week. I have a head cold and a cough, which seems to be better today. Last night was the first dress rehearsal for Into the Woods - which is actually in the woods in a small amphitheater. Not sure what to expect, I didn't dress warm enough. Tonight, I expect to be melting in my layers of t-shirts and sweatshirts, which is fine with me. It's a "different" production, evidently modeled after the one that played in Central Park last year (minus the orchestra, we only have 2 keys and bass), but the costumes are suppose to be "steam punk style" which I've yet to understand that concept. It's definitely community theatre, which is fine by me!
DR Matthew, from what I can tell, this is supposed to be "steampunk" style. I have no idea what that means. ??

Thank you all for your good wishes....LOL....you make me laugh and relieve the tension of the day!
Tab Hunter and Elvis Presley were in a feud? I want to read all about that....
And I want to see over 150 exciting glamor photos, too.

I am glad you specified eye doctor; because you taking a hike, followed by a trip to the doctor was getting to be a habit with you.
Really?! That was really the name?!
As a former breastfeeder when its baby's time to eat ya gotta go with the flow - cos the flow will come no matter what -- and weren't the actors kids? It may have been a sibling having lunch...
I happened to call my Mom yesterday morning, around 10 am, and before I could even say "Hello" (she has caller ID so she always knows who is calling before she picks up the phone), she started in right away; complaining about how none of her three children had bothered to call her and wish her happy birthday...
I explained:
1. It was only 10 AM , the day was young
2. I was actually on the phone, at the very moment, having just called her
3. It was not her birthday
Can You help me?

~ ~ ~ MOST EXCELLENT BREAK-A-LEG OPENING NIGHT VIBES ~ ~ ~ to DR Jrand62's entire "ANGEL STREET" company!!!
And now they're saying that fish oil may INCREASE the risk of prostate cancer in men.
Honestly, I give up! Wait 5 minutes, and the conventional wisdom will be upended. Again.
And it was looking kind of Haboob-y last night, but alas, no haboob (or as we natives call them, "Dust storms").
DR Laura - I think this guy has the right idea!

Love the stick of butter next to the Panera danish ring!!
Meanwhile, Ibuprofen has taken care of all possible discomfort from the surgery. No swelling, either.
DR Ron Pulliam - glad you made it through the procedure and are feeling better today.
Whilst you were undergoing oral surgery yesterday, someone (?) posted another baby photo of you. You may want to check it out. :)
For fun last night, I took out the JAY release of their "complete" Stop the World, I Want to Get Off. I bought it when it first came out and my memory back then was that it was one of the worst recordings I'd ever heard - in every way, but especially technically. I've amended that opinion to say it is THE worst recording I've ever heard of theater music. It is, in a word, appalling. The band sounds like it's in another stage - let me tell you that the job of a record producer isn't to show up and sit in the booth and listen to sound like that and say, "Good show." You don't just set up a few mics and call that a recording. The singers are blah, and the conducting is so perverse in terms of tempos and emphasis - all you have to do is listen to the original Broadway cast album - it, too, is not very well recorded, but the conducting is as it should be and at least when the singers aren't singing you can actually hear the band and the orchestrations. Whoever produced the B'way version didn't baffle the singers, so when you bring them front and center the band just goes away. Makes one appreciate all the more the pioneering work done by Goddard Lieberson back then.

Gee, I guess I'll add that to my amazon wish list, right after that Serbo-Croatian cast recording of Legally Blonde. NOT!
My goodness. Be sure to glance over those "reviews". From Alan in New York:
"This recording is well-conducted, the orchestra plays terrifically, the orchestrations sound fabulous, and the supporting cast is fine. And it contains the entire score.... I've heard almost all of the releases in the JAY Masterworks series, and I think this is one of the best..."
Good afternoon. We never did get that rain or haboob yesterday. I think our last measurable rain was .06 inches in April.

must go jog now.
Thanks for the car vibes yesterday. No problem starting today or tonight, but I left the a/c off just in case. That would not be possible here today. It's 103 out there now.

Wow! Didn't know about the Jay recording, and I'm sure glad I read this before "discovering" it. Now I really must pull out the original cast LP and give that a listen for my first time in a few decades.

Back at work today after one day off during which I had dental surgery (two implants). It was a three-hour procedure. I'm a hard case when it comes to anesthesia and the doctor had to stop and administer four doses over the course of those three hours. She and I laugh about how short-lasting those shots are, especially since most folks could get by on one shot.
After the procedure was over, I stood up, walked down a hall and went to reception to process payment. That's when it all hit me. The right side of my face was numb enough for just about anything. It's like all that anesthetic had been waiting to be unleashed.
The numbness didn't wear off until about 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, Ibuprofen has taken care of all possible discomfort from the surgery. No swelling, either.
one lousy WAV file
One more pop-in, before my last regular rehearsal for the sinking ship play. As good as it is on some levels, it's another case of too much "staging" for a reading. For instance, being asked to literally stage "strangle" someone with two hands... while reading my lines from the script. Really?
Too much. Gaaah.
Looks like a fun Poppins movie, DR Mike.
While their songs have warmed hearts all over the world for decades, the brothers Richard and Robert Sherman aren’t the household names they should be…even after taking home Oscars, Grammys and the National Medal of the Arts! We hope this latest in our series that began with Grammy winning Henry Mancini: Pink Guitar and Cole Porter: Delovely Guitar will help change that!
The songs chosen are some of the Sherman Brothers’ most beloved compositions for the movies, the Disneyland theme park and the World’s Fair, as well as a #1 hit recorded by no less than ex-Beatle Ringo Starr! The instrumentalists feature former rock stars like Greg Hawkes and Elliot Easton from THE CARS, Laurence Juber from WINGS and world-renowned Australian guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel…plus a dozen other Grammy and award winning players!
Produced by Grammy award winner James Jensen and Bernadette Bowman with the guidance of Richard M Sherman himself, this collection will bring back memories and create many new ones. The artists truly honor the songs and yet also bring out something unique that shines a whole new light on these melodic masterpieces!
1 Winnie the Pooh / Tommy Emmanuel
2 A Spoonful of Sugar / Laurence Juber
3 Hushabye Mountain / Al Petteway
4 There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow / Kenny Sultan
5 You’re Sixteen / Greg Hawkes
6 Feed The Birds (Tuppence A Bag) / Doug Smith
7 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang / Mark Hanson
8 Let’s Get Together / Pat Donohue
9 The Slipper and The Rose Waltz / Jim Tozier
10 Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious / Eltjo Haselhoff
11 The Age of Not Believing / Elliot Easton
12 I Wan’na Be Like You / Mike Dowling
13 Chim Chim Cher-ee / Nick Charles
14 Stay Awake / Tim Pacheco
15 It’s a Small World / Mark Hanson & Doug Smith duet

I am now the proud owner of the expanded laserdisc version of 1776. Now I just need to get myself a laserdisc player or a good transfer service! :P
I am seeing a lot about Orson Scott Card in the news. Has anyone read any of his sci-fi "Ender's Game" novels? I don't know anything about them.

Have you just read about his books and/or the movie...or have you read anything about him? ::)

Barnes and Noble has the first one (eBook) for $4.78 so I put it on my Nook wish list. Someone in my book group liked it and someone else didn't but for that price I put it down.
I forgot DR George, until I just did a search, that Scott was the controversial author some of your co-workers protested against. I think I'll take the book off of my wish list. I can watch the movie when it comes out.
Interesting article on why not to Boycott the author's work-lol.

The new DVDs of Dexter. Or school work. Or Dexter. Or school work. Decisions. Ugh.
So, how is it?The new DVDs of Dexter. Or school work. Or Dexter. Or school work. Decisions. Ugh.
I'm still at work ordering classic novels and am listening to the new Broadway cast recording of Annie (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CHR7FMA/). Fortunately, I can multitask in my job. :)

Good evening, BK and DR's all,
One more pop-in, before my last regular rehearsal for the sinking ship play. As good as it is on some levels, it's another case of too much "staging" for a reading. For instance, being asked to literally stage "strangle" someone with two hands... while reading my lines from the script. Really?
Too much. Gaaah.
BK, thank you for reminding me about the Speed test. I took one again and found my speed is okay right now, but I'm still looking for better access than Time Warner. They've been a nightmare.
Thank you too for the great Kritzerland songs. Can't wait to dive into those.
I LOVED the Fiddler Chorus Line Number, being a former Fiddler-ite for years. haha
And Linked-in? I dunno. I still say yes, to connections I know, but have no idea why. If I signed up for and spent time on all of those sites that people beg you to join, I'd never get out the door.
I hope everyone is having a smashingly good day.
