Back at work today after one day off during which I had dental surgery (two implants). It was a three-hour procedure. I'm a hard case when it comes to anesthesia and the doctor had to stop and administer four doses over the course of those three hours. She and I laugh about how short-lasting those shots are, especially since most folks could get by on one shot.

After the procedure was over, I stood up, walked down a hall and went to reception to process payment. That's when it all hit me. The right side of my face was numb enough for just about anything. It's like all that anesthetic had been waiting to be unleashed.

The numbness didn't wear off until about 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Ibuprofen has taken care of all possible discomfort from the surgery. No swelling, either.

I'm slogging away this week. I have a head cold and a cough, which seems to be better today. Last night was the first dress rehearsal for Into the Woods - which is actually in the woods in a small amphitheater. Not sure what to expect, I didn't dress warm enough. Tonight, I expect to be melting in my layers of t-shirts and sweatshirts, which is fine with me. It's a "different" production, evidently modeled after the one that played in Central Park last year (minus the orchestra, we only have 2 keys and bass), but the costumes are suppose to be "steam punk style" which I've yet to understand that concept. It's definitely community theatre, which is fine by me!

My two shows at camp are going well. There is a lot of talent this summer, which makes it more fun. I'm excited about the shows.

Well, it is an improvement over "thug" fashion, I suppose. I do doubt that even a fashion statement could fix Into the Woods.
