Well, you've read the notes, the notes were high speed and on the Internet, and now it is time for you to post until the high speed cows come home - they, too, have a new MOOdem.

And the word of the day is: FUNGIBLE!

Morning all.
That is all.

I'm getting fed up with my Dell pc. Its terribly sluggish when I first switch it on and takes about 30 minutes before its running properly. Every now and again I do a clean up which helps for a few weeks, then its back to being sluggish again.

The temperature is expected to reach 90F today!
or as DRLaura would say --- it'll be a bit nippy - time to break out the sweaters

TCB I am sorry I didn't intend to leave without saying goodbye -- my machine was hijacked by some damn Windows update - just suddenly shut down on me and started running updates so I went off to bed

Did you send your mail by registered mail ? Perhaps it is at the post office and I was not left a notice? I have to go the PO today anyway so i can see --- I will also ask the Vixter if she saw anything - she usually brings in the mail

Good morning, all! If my schedule works as I want today, I'll write up the notes on the Moross score this morning and get it into the post by 1:00pm. Beyond tidying up the apartment, I have little plans for today or tomorrow.
I don't know if you remember the radio interview I had last April, but it was for this:

Good morning. I'm off on a walk today.

Saturday. Last night's performance of Angel Street was not as sharp as Thursday's performance, but I think tonight will be better. Time will tell.
This morning I am going to Greencastle for a movie shoot - a DePauw student got a grant to do her film....so we shall see what happens. I am supposed to be a member of a church congregation - but I think that I will end up being the chorus girl who gets shot....I haven't watched I LOVE LUCY for over 50 years without learning SOMETHING!
-
Ah yes DR MBARNUM - The Plague of the Zombies is a Hammer Film. That is one weird movie....yes, it is also one of my favorites.....

It's hot out there. And I had to work an hour in it trying to get the Bountiful Baskets put together for pickup. It's an interesting setup, and I don't know if any of you use it in your areas. But you pay a flat fee -- this time it was $15 -- to get a basket of fresh fruit and a basket of vegetables. You don't know what you're going to get, but in this two times I've done it, fruit has outweighed veggies by far. I ended up with three honeydew melons, a cantaloupe, grapes, blueberries and peaches today, plus broccoli, kale, tomatoes and romaine lettuce. Now, to find time to eat all that. I may turn the kale into a soup that I can freeze or use for lunches next week.

The talk of Dell and Windows sends shivers down my spine. It's all here, in the very early days of this discussion board, my hatred of both and my final stomping to death of my Dell computer after their tech in India effectively nuked everything on my hard drive. I literally put the thing on the ground and killed it. And then asked the question here would I have to learn all new skills with Apple. And people said I'd have to learn new things and it might take a while - then I said, "here's what I do - I go on the Internet and I write in Word." At that point, everyone said GO, make the move, it's simple as pie. I bought my first Apple Powerbook laptap and have never looked back. It was SO easy and I got Word for Mac and I was up and running and happy in minutes and the only thing I had to unlearn was the endless keystrokes it took to do anything on the Dell. With the Mac it was one click and you were there - and it's only gotten better with each new Mac product I've gotten. I'm on my fourth laptop (the Macbook Air) and my second desktop. Their tech support is unparalleled.
-
Found it - here's one thread and if you go to the day after you'll see I made the purchase and the Mac Powerbook G4 was going to be shipped. I'm sure a few days later it was here and I was in heaven.

DR Cilla thanks for answering my question. If you hadn't I would have figured you missed it or didn't care to, either way I was fine.
I haven't followed the trial too closely but from the beginning, emotions and horror at what happened aside, that is how I saw it & still do.

I've had several Dells, mainly because my past employers used them. Despite all my problems with them and their frustrating Indian help desk I keep finding myself going back to them. Next time though, I'm really going to have to consider something else.

We also have something the equivalent of "Bountiful Baskets" here, linked with the Saturday morning Farmer's Market. It's within walking distance of our home, so it's a shame not to take advantage of it, but I just fear that we won't be able to use all of that food before the next batch arrives.

Around here it's called CSA - community supported agriculture. Rob and Mary Linda have a half share in a KY farm and they get a box or bag of produce every Sunday from about May-October. She has had to get very creative with Swiss chard.

I get a box from a company called 'Farm Fresh to You" two times a month. It's a good service and the quality is good most of the time. Lots of organic fruits and veggies go bad quick if you don't eat them right away. I do my best!

I got no damn boxes!

Happy Birthday to John G.'s mother!
-
I'll tell you another big benefit of the new modem speed - the Time Capsule backups are finally working as they should - they've been taking way too long and doing all kinds of unnecessary things - now save for the final one of the day, they all last about thirty seconds. The final one actually backs up the entire computer so that's always longer, but these hourly ones only are supposed to back up what you've done in that last hour. Finally! And the icon is appearing and disappearing as it used to.

A very very happy birthday to DR John G.'s mother. I hope that I am still volunteering when I get to be her age!

Back from the memorial service. The deceased was apparently very good looking; someone told him he should be in movies - and cast him as an extra in Night and Day with Cary Grant. But he spent his life work as a developer and builder, and lived to the ripe age of 90.

I love the Mac, but my problem with it is that...every time you get a new Mac with a new system...you have to also spend a small fortune upgrading all or most of your software.
For example: I have several databases in Appleworks 6, but Apple has abandoned program. So, if/when I get a new computer, how do I keep my databases?

For you viewing enjoyment. I loathe most of today's choreographers and their nonsensical dances in Broadway shows, where they think back flips and acrobatics are dancing, where they completely no nothing about building a number, tailoring the steps to the actual dancers and, most importantly JOY, the sheer unadulterated JOY of dancers doing great choreography. I'm not talking about yelling and screaming during a number - that's not joy, that's yelling and screaming. You want sheer unadulterated JOY and brilliant choreography that builds and builds and builds to an exquisite finish, look no further. Tony Award-winning choreography by Tommy Tune and Thommie Walsh. Watch and weep for the brilliance of genius director/choreographers.

On my way to see a play, and I truly hope that by the time I return we have had us a frenzy or nine.

Some cabaret singer posted that she needed help customizing some lyrics to Born to Entertain from Ruthless! The attempts were so feeble that I did it for her - she hasn't seen it yet - she wanted it to be about cabaret and wanted a mention that she's a lawyer. In two minutes this:
Some gals like to cook and sew,
When I cook it's in a show,
I was born to entertain
Some gals stay at home and clean,
I'd rather learn a dance routine,
I was born to entertain -
Though I'm a lawyer that's just my day job,
What I crave's a cabaret job,
I've got The Gardenia on the brain -
Don't get too comfy in that seat,
When I strut my stuff you'll be on your feet,
I was born for cabaret.
Not every showbiz cinderella has
Got to come from Pocatella,
My star will rise like bubbles in champagne -
You want to know what I find peachy,
To get reviews like Marcovicci,
I will be a chanteuse from the tip of my nose to the top of my shoes
So strike up the band and give me one final refrain
'Cause I was born to entertain.

Boy I think this jury and the courts in Florida were foolish to release a verdict of not guilty on a Saturday night, when tempers were already on the brink.
I have to say I was shocked by the verdict . I will admit to not following the court case closely; basically because I thought it was an open and shut case -
Maybe Cilla can explain to me how an armed man who stalked an unarmed teenager and provoked a confrontation and then shot and killed said unarmed teen can claim self defense?
If the teen had broken into Zimmerman's house and he shot him in his house, even in his own yard , I would get it....but this set of facts, in my mind, just don't add up to a not guilty verdict
For me this was an eye opener and if I, a person living several States away, with absolutely no stakes in this situation, can feel this absolutely shocked, outraged, shaken and angry at this verdict, I cannot imagine what wrath is going to be unleashed in Florida
I hope I am wrong and cooler heads will prevail

Went to a chamber music concert tonight. The evening opened with a piece for violin, viola and cello from Gideon Klein, a composer who was interred in the Thereseinstadt concentration camp. It was a piece of great freedom and a liveliness that came from its use of folk themes, and it was my favorite piece of the evening. What made it sad was that the notes on the piece said he finished it only days before he was sent to Auschwitz. He died at age 25.

The talk of Dell and Windows sends shivers down my spine. It's all here, in the very early days of this discussion board, my hatred of both and my final stomping to death of my Dell computer after their tech in India effectively nuked everything on my hard drive.
I've had several Dells, mainly because my past employers used them. Despite all my problems with them and their frustrating Indian help desk I keep finding myself going back to them. Next time though, I'm really going to have to consider something else.
I've had my Dell for about four years now and it's still working quite well. I don't know what I'll get the next time I need a new computer, but I'm pretty sure that I will stick with Windows. I use a Windows computer at work and I think that it would just be too confusing for me to have to learn another computer system...my my 2¢. I know other people who have Macs and love them, but I don't think that I need that drastic a change, yet.

Watching Dexter episodes as if they were pieces of popcorn.
I've been doing that lately with seasons of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Today, BBC America was showing the first episode of the fifth (and I think final) season of "Being Human." I was going to watch it (even with the slight edits for American TV), but then I realized that I have the whole season on DVD from England! I'm watching it now and there are no commercials, no ad bugs in the corner of the screen and no sound drop-outs because of the "language." It's pretty cool that I can watch the whole season before it airs on US TV! :D

Good
morning afternoon evening night, all!
Back, from Blobville USA.
And almost as tired as, say, a Vixmom on a Friday night. Or a Saturday night. Or any of those other nights!!
-
Boy I think this jury and the courts in Florida were foolish to release a verdict of not guilty on a Saturday night, when tempers were already on the brink.
The prosecution did not prove its case. It relied on emotion, not facts. It's as simple as that.
Zimmerman may not be totally innocent, but under the law he is "Not Guilty".

Ketchuping...
Loved the clips in the notes, as always. And that "Chasing the Clouds Away" is incredible.
I'll watch/listen to that Moross thing tomorrow when properly awake and able, DR Elmore.
There was something else, too - but don't ask me what, damn it to hell.
-
Watching Dexter episodes as if they were pieces of popcorn.
I've been doing that lately with seasons of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
I just did that with all of "The Big Bang Theory."
I have never seen an episode of that show. "Big Bang" that is. I have seen MTM.
I love THE BIG BANG THEORY.

Some cabaret singer posted that she needed help customizing some lyrics to Born to Entertain from Ruthless! The attempts were so feeble that I did it for her - she hasn't seen it yet - she wanted it to be about cabaret and wanted a mention that she's a lawyer. In two minutes this:
Some gals like to cook and sew,
When I cook it's in a show,
I was born to entertain
Some gals stay at home and clean,
I'd rather learn a dance routine,
I was born to entertain -
Though I'm a lawyer that's just my day job,
What I crave's a cabaret job,
I've got The Gardenia on the brain -
Don't get too comfy in that seat,
When I strut my stuff you'll be on your feet,
I was born for cabaret.
Not every showbiz cinderella has
Got to come from Pocatella,
My star will rise like bubbles in champagne -
You want to know what I find peachy,
To get reviews like Marcovicci,
I will be a chanteuse from the tip of my nose to the top of my shoes
So strike up the band and give me one final refrain
'Cause I was born to entertain.
I love your lyrics, BK.

Happy Birthday to the Mother of DR JOHN G.
-
I also loved the clip from MY ONE AND ONLY.
Movie shoot went well....but I couldn't find my way into a special shot .... all GROUP stuff.
-
ANGEL STREET was very good tonight, back on track. And a nice responsive audience....so now we get a couple of days OFF!!!
-
Jrand, I am glad that ANGEL STREET is going well.
-
Goodness, we have a way to go.
-
Jrand, when does DROWSY open?

Finished the seventh season of Dexter. Not the series' best, but still really enjoyable.
-
Tomorrow I get to go back to writing papers.
I'm not looking forward to it.
-
J.B. is ready for me to graduate.
He's jealous of my writing time. Interrupts my worship of him, which is what the universe and I exist to do.
-
Let's move this along.
-
Six!
-
And with that, good night, all.
-
Quote from Roddy White of the Atlanta Falcons:
All them jurors should go home tonight and kill themselves for letting a grown man get away with killing a kid
That seems a bit harsh!
-
The temperature is expected to start climbing again tomorrow, but only into the 80's.
-
I blame Canada.
So does the South Park P.T.A. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOR38552MJA)
;)
-
The show that BK saw tonight, must have been short.

Hello everyone:
TOD:
CHER: Saw her in concert for my 5oth Birthday. Treated two of my best friends. Fabulous
LULU: LOVED her song To Sir With Love, That was when I started to learn to sing and play guitar.
JUDY COLLINS: Saw her in concert. We had second row seats. She was great. She signed my minature guitar for me.
I usher at a local performing arts center and Judy Collins will be coming to Olympia next season! I'm going to sign up to usher and most likely will be able to see her perform for free! ;D

Of course, there are verdicts like that all the time...most recently, the guy in Texas who shot the prostitute who wouldn't have sex with him (http://www.policymic.com/articles/46995/ezekiel-gilbert-texas-man-who-killed-prostitute-not-going-to-jail), who later died, and was found not guilty of murder.

The way the evidence came in...Zimmerman was the neighborhood watch captain. There had been break ins in the community by young black males. He saw Trevon and he called it in as suspicious. He did follow him but there was no evidence he was the one who started a confrontation other than asking who he was and what he was doing there. Trevon told his friend a creepy cracker was following him. Then the phone call ended. There was about 4 minutes between that moment and when neighbors started hearing the fight. Trevon could have walked the 100 yards to his door, but apparently didn't. His friend told him to run, but he said he wasn't going to. The only eye witness (most were ear witnesses) saw Zimmerman on the ground with Trevon straddling him and punching him in the face and slamming his head into the ground. The witness called 911, but didn't go help despite seeing and hearing George yelling for help.
There was expert testimony about the impact of having your head slammed into the cement etc. The state never really rebutted that and by the end were basically admitting that Trevon was on top, but saying if he was on top Zimmerman couldn't have reached for his gun. Zimmerman had a broken nose and cuts on the back of his head consistent with his story. The police said the back of his clothes were wet as if he had been on his back in the grass. The state never really rebutted this.
There was also expert testimony on the ballistics that showed Trevon was leaning over Zimmerman when he was shot.
This wasn't a stand your ground case. It was a self defense case. If George Zimmerman reasonably feared great bodily injury or death he was justified in using deadly force to defend himself. The jury found that he was justified. It wasn't about race. Even the state didn't argue it was racial profiling, they argued he was profiled as a criminal.
If you watched the trial, I don't think you'd be surprised. Even the lead detective said he believed George Zimmerman.

Well said. I do think that if you didn't pay attention and just listened to the talking heads that have done their best to make it about race, you wouldn't get what the evidence did show.

Oh my goodness. That's horrible!
-
I wonder how (I'm sure not "if") they will write this into "Glee."
-
I don't think that they would just ignore the actor's death.
-
At least, I hope they don't. :-\
-
Back from a long show and then a sandwich at the Coral Cafe.
-
I hope Cillaliz is staying away from Facebook, where exactly what you'd imagine happening is happening. People I know are actually unfriending people if they haven't posted outrage on their timeline. What is wrong with people?
-
Are we on page six?
-
Better than page four but not as good as page seven.
-
It's very late and I suppose I should write some notes.

Page Seven.
