Another thing that was really cool was that the bartender, who will work the pre-show and intermission for the whole run created drinks for all the characters! I actually had TWO drinks named after my characters...the Kershaw Cosmo and the Maxwell Mudslide. However, my acting partner, Guy, didn't have any drink named for his characters, so I suggested to the bartender that she change "Maxwell Mudslide" to "Matthews Mudslide," to be fair. She said she tried to make sure that everyone had a drink and would change the menu for the rest of the run. She just has to make the change on her computer and reprint the menu. Easy as pie! I had the soon-to-be-named Matthews Mudslide and it was good. I thought that it needed a little more chocolate and less alcohol, but that's just me. ;)
DR Vixmom, you should have gone to the church in your costumes to shoot down the balloons. :)
This is the last weekend for the pool. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy. So today will be the last day we go. :(
It is crazy that it is September 1st. My niece started school on Thursday. The senior school is grades 3-6. So new school. And all new classes (she has the same class grades 1-2 and a lot of the same people for kindergarten). So a lot of changes. And apparently a lot more homework. :(
So yesterday DR VIXMOM shot a balloon in her pajamas?
And the word of the day is: AUROREAN!

Mason Adams looks a lot like Mayor Michael Bloomberg in this episode.

I like that my pool is indoors and open all year. I am not happy that for the second time it is closed for maintenance while Eleanor is here. I was looking forward to taking her swimming.
Home from the Belmont Greek Festival. Always a fun afternoon.
Off to a friends for dinner in which I'll bring the trifle. I'm very excited by this trifle!
I have spent the afternoon knitting. Using the sparkly blue yarn I bought at the shop around the corner from DR Elmore's home, I'm making myself a "potato chip" scarf.what is a potato chip scarf?

Show one went very well. Hoping I have a voice for show two. We shall see

~ ~ ~ BREAK A LEG ~ ~ ~ to bk and his merrie crew! May both shows be a great success.
Is anyone watching Broadchurch on BBC America? I watched the first four episodes today - it is quite engrossing.
I guess I'll wait for the DVD then.

Am listening to "On the 20th Century" for the first time in ages. I just wish BK had handled the CD release. The sound is not good, but that score is just extraordinary. And I know Hal Prince fired her on opening night, but Madeleine Kahn is excellent.

Actually she was not fired on opening night. She left after two months and while she was in the show she missed a lot of performances. She was replaced by her understudy Judy Kaye. Kahn said "she said she was withdrawing because of damage to her vocal cords." but that was a just an excuse
Wow, what a day and evening. Exhausting, I must say, but two amazing audiences - the matinee was not sold out but VERY full and the evening was completely sold out, save for a handful of no-shows. Both shows went very well and our cast was just stellar - Dan Callaway, Kay Cole, Josh Finkel, Jane Noseworthy and Valerie Perri - each so wonderful on all their songs, along with Jenna Lea Rosen (who stopped the show cold with Dear Mr. Gershwin), Sami Staitman and Sarah Staitman, along with our guest star, the great Sharon McNight. All accompanied by the brilliant John Boswell. Co-produced by the tireless Adryan Russ. One of the most moving highlights for me was hearing Sami, Sarah and Jenna do my song Three Friends. They did it so beautifully, and several people were very moved by it. Otherwise, it was just a lot of true highlights - Josh killing it with She Touched Me, Jane hitting it out of the park with a totally unique Getting Married Today, Valerie doing the best As If We Never Said Goodbye ever, Dan doing an amazing The Kid Inside, and beautiful Kay Cole making magic of One Boy, a song from Bye Bye Birdie, which she was in on Broadway. And that's only the tip of the iceberg. A wonderful, magical day and evening. And The Yiddish Sondheim was as funny now as it was when we did What If back in 2004.
