Well, you've read the notes, the notes were your oyster, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently trying to figure out how to get some oysters.

Deb, we are going to the Stonybrook Theatre AMC/Loews 17 on Friday evening at 8pm. It's the only showing there and it's closest to us but you have a week to see the movie. It's showing at the Regal Deer Park 16 & IMAX on 455 Commack Road in Deer Park (1-631 243-4580). It's playing there from September 20th through the 27. Here is a link to the theatre. You can buy tickets on line or at the theatre (but not over the phone).

It's been raining off and on since last nice. The heat and sticky weather has broken. I'll put up with the rain for the cool weather.

My cousin is in town and we will see her tonight and then we may watch the original Death Takes a Holiday with Frederick March.

So glad to hear that Jason Graae and Brent Barrett will be doing the CD. I can't think of two more perfect singers of the male gender to do this show. I would love to see them do it on stage.

Now why don't we suggest some of the female singers?

Juliana Hansen
Liz Callaway
Alet Taylor
Liz Larsen
Sally Mayes
Karen Morrow
Jane Krakowski

I will have no time to watch movies this weekend as
1) It's Yom Kippur
2) I have to prepare for a speech on Monday
3) And I was cast for a play reading, Sunday, of DR. JECKYL & MR. HYDE. I been cast as Dr. Jeckyl, but another actor is playing Mr. Hyde.

What's in my deeveedee player: the Blooray of Star Trek Into Darkness and the new Criterion Blooray of Ministry of Fear, a Fritz Lang film.

Later today, I'm acquiring tickets to see (and hear) the new musical Big Fish.   Looking forward to it.

Do you have Yelp?  It might be a good idea to use Yelp to voice your wishes about the Louis.  Stress that change is fine, but signature dishes should not be discarded or there's no reason to go back.

Good morning all! I have good news and bad news: the good news is that the physical therapy is helping enormously; there are still problems with my mobility and my physical state, but there are huge changes in what I can and cannot accomplish at the present time.  The bad news is that I regressed and needed the Tylenol with codeine to sleep last night,  My left foot began throbbing as soon as I settled down to sleep, and before the night was over I had taken two Tylenol along with the flexerill. I will do my best to avoid it tonight.

Good news about Jason! I hope he had good things to say about Dublin.

DR JRand6, I'm sorry I missed the good wishes for HARVEY. I'm thinking only of myself these days.

From DR Cilla:
Quote
It's been a busy busy week.   Yesterday I went to the Iowa Court of Appeals.  The case before mine was a law suit by a woman who trains service dogs.  Drake U barred her from going in the law school with the dogs in training and she sued.  The case was dismissed and there was an appeal of the dismissal.  SOOOOO the dogs came to watch.  Seriously there were about 10 of them in the courtroom and apparently a number of others in a room with closed circuit tv.   The dogs are trained to bark when someone knocks on the door, so when the judges knocked to let the bailiff know they were ready to come in, the dogs all barked.  It was hysterical  They were perfectly behaved during the argument.   I have to say, it was something I'm glad I was there for.   My argument was pretty dull in comparison

Great story though I'm surprised she even needed to go to court.  I thought dogs in training had the same regulations as regular service dogs.

I've read to drink lots of water with Tylenol, something I don't really do.  To me that would make more sense if it was the kidneys that are effected vs the liver.  I suggest you avoid alcoholic beverages, which I do avoid if I'm taking a lot of Tylenol.

As you know PT is great but it can increase pain.  Sleep is important to and it doesn't sound like you are taking too many dosage of Tylenol a day.

WISHING YOU A EASIER DAYS AHEAD!!!!

In the pre-show announcement, the artistic director of the 5th Avenue said that the creators of the show were there, but I didn't see Rupert (I don't know what the composer or lyricist look like).  I was thinking that if I did actually see him and was actually able to speak to him that I would mention that I knew you!  But I didn't get the chance.  Oh, well.  I really enjoyed the show, though. :)

The dishwasher repairman attempted to install a new motor today only they sent him the wrong part.  He said our replacement order will be rushed and service to us will be a priority.  I hope it is fixed before our next round of company arrives.  This time it is just one person, Keith's cousin, so not having a working dishwasher won't be as big a deal as with our previous groups of recent company.

~~~Continued Vibes for DR Elmore!!~~~
Awhile back I believe DR Jennifer suggested Keith get a library card.  I think it is time to do so.  The book I need to read for my November book group is only available with a Kindle so I would be downloading it to his iPad anyway.  Frustrating is until I put a hold on the book I don't know how many people are in the queue and I don't have anymore room on my hold list.
DR George do you know how many holds your library permits for eBooks?  Six just seems too few in my opinion, especially when the books take so darn long to become available.
Here in San Antonio, we're allowed up to 25 reservations and the number can get as high as the demand allows. I've sometimes had to wait through hundreds of reservations before getting a DVD or an e-book.
She was a contestant on a previous season, but I can't think of her name. As she was never a favorite of mine, I don't have any inclination to go to the sale...besides, looking at the craigslist ad she isn't selling anything that I need or want.
Last night, a couple of friends and I went to see Secondhand Lions (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/180730-Complete-Cast-Announced-for-Secondhand-Lions-Starring-Gregg-Edelman-Mark-Jacoby-and-Johnny-Rabe) in Seattle.  It's very much a "feel good" musical.  The music is energetic and could certainly manipulate your emotions (in a good way).  The lyrics were well written, if not profound (which is not necessarily a bad thing).  The only comment (and it's not a criticism) is that there are a lot of them...I mean, they have songs that just go on and on and are sung very quickly.  I assumed that it was so that a lot of (necessary) information could be given to the audience more quickly, but I never felt that they "overstayed their welcome."
The performers were all very good!  Mark Jacoby and Gregg Edelman were the two uncles.  Walt (the kid), played by Johnny Rabe, had also played Ralphie in the Broadway run of A Christmas Story, which also started at The 5th Avenue.  The two guys playing the uncles as young men were quite good, too.  Kevin Earley played the younger version of Mark Jacoby's character, but I don't know who played the younger Gregg Edelman.  I don't have my program with me and the cast list is not on 5th Avenue's website.  Jenny Powers as the princess (I forget her character's name...it's different that what's used in the movie) and Kendra Kassebaum as Walt's mother were well cast.  I read the synopsis of the movie and it seemed like she was supposed to be manipulating the kid from the beginning.  I didn't get that sense in the musical, at all.  It really did seem like she was genuinely just leaving Walt with the uncles so that she could go to business school (or whatever kind of school it was).  She did tell Walt to look for the money, but to me, that seemed more like an afterthought, not a real plot device.  But it was a minor detraction (and only after reading the movie synopsis).
Otherwise, a very good time was had by all. :D
Mark Jacoby is an old friend from the early 1980s, and he's really a fine actor. I interviewed Kevin Earley about the male lead in ROBERTA, but he was tied up with another commitment.
25-wow!  I've had a few with that had high numbers but I don't recall any as high as 200, close but not all the way there.  I'm still working my way down the queue for a few of those books.  It seems as if they have been on my hold list forever-lol
Fortunately I can put as many on my wish list as I want.  I check my wish list almost every day for available books.  In fact, I just downloaded a book that had become available only to discover it is only available for the Kindle.  I'll have to put it on Keith's iPad.
AND THE QUOTE OF THE DAY IS:
May your hands always be busy.
May your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation.
When the winds of changes shift.
May your hear always be joyful.
May your song always be sung.
May you stay forever young.
Actually, this is a song written by The Great song writer Bob Dylan.
On the other hand, I think his words are sheer poetry, so I guess it really is a poem
I was wondering what you would think about the show.  The songs weren't especially memorable, either.  Good, but similar to other songs/scores.
Also, there were a few whoops from the audience, especially when Walt held out a big, long note at the end of his first big solo.  He did well, but the screams from the audience were unnecessary.  (I think that they were probably family members...they were male voices.)
While it was obvious in the movie that the mother was greedy, I never got the sense the kid allowed himself to be manipulated by her.  He was far more in awe of his uncles and their lifestyle and the stories they would tell.
How many physical books does your library let you put on hold?  I know some libraries have limits. I think mine is limitless. Don't know about ebooks because they don't lend to nook or kindle only kobo.
I think 6 is ridiculous, especially if you are waiting so long. I think you should be allowed at least 20 and if they don't want you to have so many ebooks out at the same time they could say that you will be skipped if you already have a certain number of ebooks out.
I am not really sure about the nook vs kindle difference. Interesting.
Her new book called Maggie's Man written previously under the name Alicia Scott is on sale today (not sure for how long). She posted that the ebook is $2.99 on nook and kindle.
I'm trying to decide whether to get it today or not. I did request it at my library but they didn't buy it yet. I imagine they will (since they have all her other books). I have a ton of gift cards from amazon. But just trying to decide whether to get it.
Whichever female singers we go with we're hoping to keep it to people based in LA - that makes doing the concert version easier.
Concert version, BK? When might that be?
Believe me, you will be the FIRST to know - but before that, you'd best book your ticket to the November Kritzerland show - Brent's doing that and is it going to be FUN.
DR Jane or anyone who likes Lisa Gardner the author.
Her new book called Maggie's Man written previously under the name Alicia Scott is on sale today (not sure for how long). She posted that the ebook is $2.99 on nook and kindle.
I'm trying to decide whether to get it today or not. I did request it at my library but they didn't buy it yet. I imagine they will (since they have all her other books). I have a ton of gift cards from amazon. But just trying to decide whether to get it.
Thanks.  I will buy it for that price.
Daughter will be back in a few days for the next phase, then the ordeal will all be done about ten days after that.
Getting near the end, what a relief.  Is she handling it ok?
I bet.  I'm glad she is doing the best possible.
I'm flattered!   As for the November show, I booked my flight!  I didn't know reservations were being taken already.  I'll call.  My friends who live in the area are going too!
It is, indeed.
Watching "Lovely to Look At." Great Kern. Not much else in the movie is his equal.
Actually they're not really taking reservations yet - they'll start when we do our October show.
Kathryn Grayson has trilled her final hurrah, the movie has ended and I may have to watch the Fred Astaire version to get this Roberta travesty out of my mind.
Elmore, I want that recording. I know, I have to wait a year.
From DR Cilla:
Quote
It's been a busy busy week.   Yesterday I went to the Iowa Court of Appeals.  The case before mine was a law suit by a woman who trains service dogs.  Drake U barred her from going in the law school with the dogs in training and she sued.  The case was dismissed and there was an appeal of the dismissal.  SOOOOO the dogs came to watch.  Seriously there were about 10 of them in the courtroom and apparently a number of others in a room with closed circuit tv.   The dogs are trained to bark when someone knocks on the door, so when the judges knocked to let the bailiff know they were ready to come in, the dogs all barked.  It was hysterical  They were perfectly behaved during the argument.   I have to say, it was something I'm glad I was there for.   My argument was pretty dull in comparison
Great story though I'm surprised she even needed to go to court.  I thought dogs in training had the same regulations as regular service dogs.
The argument was about what her remedy was under Iowa law.  The judge dismissed her case and she was appealing the dismissal
I'm home.  I didn't stay too long after the show because I have to get up real early tomorrow morning.  A coworker and I are carpooling to union treasurer training.  It'll be a long day.
Tomorrow is also the last performance of "Hollywood Who Done It"!  We're having a cast party after the show, so that will definitely make it a fun evening!
Tonight's show went quite well.  There were more tables in the way of the walls that Guy and I need to pound against, but we made it work.  I'm sure that the audience understands the situation.  One funny/icky moment (fortunately off stage) was when Guy and I were on the way to the back of the building for one entrance and as we were leaving the front of the building, one of the audience members had left and was trying to get to the bathroom in time...but she didn't. :P She started throwing up in the hall outside the women's room and left a trail leading in.  OMG!  That was one drunk woman!  And yes, it was because she was drunk.
