Well, you've read the notes, the notes were feeling the Christmas spirit, and now it is time for you to post until the Christmas cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PALPATE!
-
That Jenna Lea sure is a talented gal!
-
And speaking of talent - how about the execution of that Christmas choreography by DR Vixmom, her Vixdad, and the Vixter? :)
-

Who knew they were so moo-sical? :)

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Jenna Lea Rosen does have a great voice.
-
Good morning, all.
Heat turned off, a few windows open, and a blessed ME day right here. Just what the doctor ordered.
Coffee and toast.
-
A very nice Christmas medley by a very talented girl.
-
And speaking of talent - how about the execution of that Christmas choreography by DR Vixmom, her Vixdad, and the Vixter? :)
Tell me about it. And where do they ever find the time to rehearse?!
-
Nice timely video in today's notes! Lovely.
I am still having nightmares about the video posted by DR BEN yesterday....of the Canadian Mario Lanza....
-
Good morning, all! I am definitely coming down with something, and I hope it's only a cold. I slept quite poorly last night and debated staying in bed all day. I'll pour on the vitamin C, stay warmly dressed, and think healthy.
The Sherman Brothers and Disney bashing continues on both the Cast Recording List and FB, and I'm losing a bit of respect with several folk I've had much respect for. It's funny: thanks to the Sondheim cult, even his dreck is regarded as High Art, and shows that should remain buried are presented in half-assed productions as the second coming of Jesus. But for some reason, a film about a rude, unpleasant P.L. Travers - who clearly had a complete set of psychological problems packed in some heavy emotional baggage - and her battle with Disney is regarded as lies, pandering to promote a 50 year-old film and a studio supporting a pack of bullies, plagiarists and thugs. After watching the film again, I believe Ms Travers should have thanked Disney for giving the series of incidents in her books a good screenplay, taken the money, and kept her mouth shut. The film could also have been called SAVING MRS TRAVERS' BANK ACCOUNT.
It's all ridiculous and ugly.
-
good morning to all
-
I hope that all who are in the northern USA and Canada that are being hit by the awful weather are safe and warm
-
And the word of the day is: PALPATE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: THE TOUCH OF YOUR LIPS
-
Healthy vibes for DR ELMORE.
Yes, I believe Dame Julie Andrews was quoted last week as saying: "I am sure Mrs. Travers cried all the way to the bank."
-
This must have REALLY gotten to Pam.

I guess since Target shunned Beyonce's album, she decided to visit a Walmart and give everyone in the store a Christmas present.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5U7crIA2CI
Walmart's on some sort of promotional ride, with Sound of Music, Garth Brooks album and now this.
-
And Target is on a downward slide since the announcement of the credit card thefts. Still checking to see if mine has been improperly used. And I only used it once at Target, but it was in that window of dates.
-
It bought a couple of Travers' books in Spanish. One was Mary Poppins en el Parque. Her name was on the book, but so was Julie Andrews' face.
-
Thought this was funny, because of Christmas falling on a Wednesday this year:

Somehow, a bobble-head nativity seems somewhat irreverent.

Happy Sunday, All!
I'm savoring the Jonathon Schwartz Christmas show this morning via the internet. JRB posted about it, and so far, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Christine Ebersole have been guests on it, as well as some stunning musicians. it goes for another hour I think.
And... thanks to the character being added to David Lee's revised "Can Can", I found my name on the Wikipedia page of the famous French fartiste, Le Pétomane... ever linked to musical fartitude. And I thank you. :P

Is there anything one can do if you had a package delivered ("Left on door step"), but you never received it? Unfortunately, I bought it with a debit card instead of a credit card. UPS says they dropped it off at my door step at 10:38 on Wednesday. I would have been in the bathroom getting ready for the Old Actors lunch. When I left an hour later there was nothing at my door. Delivery robbery has been a serious problem this year in Seattle and Tacoma.

Can't you call UPS or your bank and complain or file a complaint?

I didn't think that UPS was allowed to simply leave a package at the door. Especially if you were home. I would definitely call UPS to complain. I mean if you didn't get it.
Is it possible that a neighbor thought that you were out and took it in for you?
-
BK, be careful what you wish for from your True Love The first of the 12 Days of Christmas does not occur until December 25, aand the 12th day is January 5. There is still plenty of time to receive one Laurie Partridge in a pear tree up to 12 Gene Krupas frumming!
-
Jenna was great! Bravo.

I've been up since ten-thirty. Stayed in bed until the house heated up, and pondered how I wanted to respond to two slightly irritating e-mails I got this morning. I responded as I needed to, I think, but probably could have written softer versions. But, one has to say what one feels.
-
Looks like on castrecl, some people who normally are so rational, and have no problems with the filmmakers and writers not being factual in other works, seem to be having trouble with the lack of reality in the Disney film.

Names. :)

DR TCB is this your closing night?
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! We are back from Lima and what I hope is the last trip to the grocery store until after Christmas. A man coming out as we were going in said, "It's brutal in there!" It was busy, yes, but I could tell him I've seen worse.
-
DR ryacko - fame is fleeting....so to speak.
-
The front of that book says Walt Disney's Motion Picture MARY POPPINS....but Travers' name is no where to be found except inside on the copyright page.....

Good afternoon. Our children's nativity went well this year.
That's nice. And I played my part in the bells half asleep, but without messing up.

I really dislike UPS for this behavior. I think I mentioned coming home to find the new TV sitting next to the door in a huge box with a giant picture of the TV on the outside. If they had written "Steal me" on the side, it would have been about the same.

Hello, everyone.
I've been trying to catch up on the posts, but it may just have to wait.
-
First, to FJL and Skip, my deepest sympathies on your loss of Toby. I'm glad he had such a good, long life and you all had many good years together.
-
Belated birthday wishes to DR Ryacko!!
I see you celebrated by doing your entire 2014 aerobic exercise quota a bit early. What a drag!! Is there a FixCarNow near you? They have a free shuttle and are very obliging.
-
DR Chaz, did I wish you a happy birthday? If not, I'll do so now. And I imagine you were able to celebrate by shoveling snow. In any case, best wishes.

I LOVED CHICAGO'S MUSICAL PIANO!! I'm a big fan of musical events in public places, especially what seem to be spontaneous events, and this was really fun.

UPS used to have a default of $100 for this problem. I had an incident many years ago in Alexandria, VA. They claimed they delivered a package. I was home and saw and heard nothing. It was around the holidays, too, I think. The contents were worth far more than $100, but at least it was something.
UPS deliveries are sometimes sloppy, but those drivers have to really hustle--they never stop. A bit more common sense would help.

I also like this one.

I had an enormous to-do list for this past fall. Full of fun stuff like dental visits and car repair, often multiple times. I wasn't able to get it all done; some of it was pushed to January and some will wait until I can do it. I'm very glad to get done what I did, though. I don't know how much longer the car would have run--or my computer. I'm now finishing up one or two Christmas things and look forward to some much-needed R&R.
-
At the end of every year I'm always in the mood to give the apartment a thorough cleaning, toss what I don't need, and start the new year fresh. I did some of the cleaning, but have LOTS of tossing to do. At least I hope there's lots of tossing.
-
Thank you, Jeanne.

From DR elmore:
I thought the one for THE WINTER'S TALE looked really good. Now I want to read the Helprin novel.
I read "Winter's Tale" when it first came out in paperback. If well done the movie should be very pretty to watch.

We have had excellent UPS and FedX service at this house.

Ah, so there'll be a recording of PURE IMAGINATION? Very good!
Bruce, you mentioned something about licensing recently, but I wasn't sure what you were referring to.

Page three?

Went out to a fundraiser to benefit the husband of the woman who died recently that I told you about, Barbara Wolfe. Great event. Lots of local musicians playing and beer/burgers both donated, so they were included in your $20 admission, all of which will go to Steve. Steve was well enough to attend (he's been waiting for a year for a kidney transplant). I think they raised about $3,000.
-
And now back to the writing.
-
The fundraiser was a nice thing to do. I'm always impressed with the amount of work that is put into doing those, which is probably why you don't see them all that often.

My favorite photos from this morning:

Cute photos, DR Laura!
-
They are in focus, really. It messed them up smallerizing them, I guess.
And they were HUGE in preview. Now they are tiny.
-
Nice photos DR LAURA.....
Photobucket resizes all my photos as well, no matter what I do....
-
An ice storm hit Michigan last night and there's no power at my sister's, nor at Mary Linda's family's. Rob and ML are there, planning to come home tomorrow.
-
That Jenna Lea sure is a talented gal!
Agreed! That was a great performance!
-
DR Laura the girls look lovely in their costumes and I can see why the little lamb stole the show, so darn cute.
-
We had french toast this morning and then went for a nice long walk. Our road still has some snow but it was fine.
I have also ironed. I save it up until I have enough to make it work getting the ironing board out, but not too much as my shoulder can't handle it. I had too much this time-ow well. It feels good to have it done.

I started to read this when I was in high school. It went over my head. I just didn't get it. Probably if I read it now it would be great, but then, I couldn't get through it.

I'm lucky that I can have things delivered to my work. I've never had anything lost...only a couple of things from Amazon.fr (France) were returned. BK had the same experience. Fortunately, the Blu-rays of "Cherbourg" and "Rochefort" arrived.

Yesterday, I worked concessions for "The Nutcracker" and then went to my friend Pug's house for her annual Yule Fest. It was the first time that I had gone. I've otherwise been to many of Pug's regular parties, so it really wasn't much different. A good time was had by all...lots of food, chatting and more food and more chatting.

I've been home and I'm just watching TV. Last night, I happened to be watching TCM when Victor Herbert's "Sweethearts" started, so I recorded it. I just burned a DVD of it, but I happened to be on the hi-def channel. When I record a hi-def program onto a standard DVD, the 4:3 image is window-boxed...it has a black frame around all four sides. But I can zoom in so it's not horrible, but if I had recorded the regular def channel, it would fill the screen normally. This isn't my TV, but it's what it looks like:

It's odd because if you want them to leave a package then they make a huge deal about needing to leave permission attached to the door. Yet you guys who clearly don't want your stuff left have it left.
I'm surprised that they would ship a tv without "signature required".
Plus I would have phoned UPS for that and gotten that driver disciplined. I mean who would leave a tv out on the street?
-

Well, I surprised myself and got more written today than I had thought I would. There's still plenty left to write in this, but each step makes it closer to reality.

Page four? Really?

You'd think it was the holiday season or something, but this is most unseemly and not in the holiday spirit, so let's get off our complacent butt cheeks and get some postin' goin' on.
-
Just returned from performing in a "Lessons & Carols" service, singing and playing bells. After that was a lovely soiree at one of the choir member's homes. I am stuffed to the gills. The lovely dusting of snow made everything look pretty without affecting driving too much.
-
It's official: I'm coming down with something. Ugh.
Perhaps some alcohol would help.
Wish I had some egg nog.
I bought some egg nog today, just to sip in the evening I got the kind with alcohol already in it. The checker said "Can I assume you're over 40?" Made me laugh
-
Today I finished Christmas shopping, hung 4 more of the new shades and went to see American Hustle with Paul. Really enjoyed it.
-
When I came home, I did some googling of the movie and ABSCAM and was surprised how much of the movie is true. Not all of it, but I won't spoil it The beginning of the film says "Some of this actually happened".
-
Not sure it's going to get above 0 tomorrow, at least wind chill wise We missed the snow, freezing rain etc, but man is it cold out there
-
I stand corrected, tomorrow the high will be 3 degrees. Glad I don't have to go to work. Guess I'll clean up the house and maybe start working on the den.
-
:)
-
Mega vibes everyone.
;) ;D

Happy birthday dr Ryacko. 8)

You have to be over 40 to buy eggnog with alcohol in Iowa? Wow, must be some strong stuff!
-
I had a relaxing day, which I needed.
-
Where's Vixmom?
-
Will continue catching up.
-
Page four? Really? REALLY?
-
We'd best get off this damn page soon.

Finished with my viewing. In honor of making spaghetti on Tuesday, I watched a spaghetti western.

I always make one or two servings of eggnog on Christmas Eve, which I enjoy after coming home from the evening service. It is so nice and quiet.

Nice to hear DR Ron's Christmas adventure, as always.

Enjoyed the Vixfamily's video Christmas card.

LOL< no, they have a sign that says "We card under age 40"
-
I like egg nog, but most of my family doesn't, so I buy some already mixed and stick in in my fridge. Think I may have a cup now
-
My sister and niece (who are vegans) don't drink "regular" eggnog, but they do like Silk (brand) Nog. It's actually pretty good.
-
Holy moly on rye! This egg nog has a lot of rum in it
-

I have never heard of buying egg nog with the alcohol already in it. Hard to believe there is a type of booze that I missed.
-
Well, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE is now history. No archival copy was made.
-
When I was in Costa Rica back in 1980, Maritza (my college roommate) and her brothers took me to Las Fiestas. There are bull fights (they try to ride the bull, not kill it) and there are carnival booths. We won about 12 bottles of ronmpope. Egg nog. I sipped it for 10 days. So now every time I have egg nog I remember being in Costa Rica
-
This egg nog is strong enough that I may have to buy some non alcoholic an mix the two

Yup. This is St. Nick's Egg Nog. It's not refrigerated it's in the alcohol section
-
Bleh! I think my taste buds have changed since 1980
-
I'm just sitting here like so much fish.
-
Bleh! I think my taste buds have changed since 1980
Well, I would hope so.
-
George, does your sister add booze to her silk nog.
-
My cousins came down to see the final show and then we went to dinner with my sister and brother-in-law. I forgot to take my copy of the J. A Jance with me for her to sign. She said if I get it to her after I have finished reading it; she will get J. A. to sign it, also.
-
Did we lose George?
-
Did we lose George?
God! I am 63 years old, and I still can't remember when to lose or loose without looking ir up first.
-
I guess I should admit that it ain't going to happen.

Oh, and there is that.

And now we have lost Cilla to the demon rum!

I do not like rum or any alcoholic beverage.

G'night!

George, does your sister add booze to her silk nog.
Sometimes she doesn't. ;)
-
Did we lose George?
Nope. I'm still here. I had to put my freshly washed (and still wet) laundry in the dryer.

I was looking through the videos on my DVD burner and I noticed that I still had the clips I recorded from the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I burned them onto a new DVD. If I'd though about it, I would've burned both the 2012 and 2013 clips onto one disc. Oh, well.
-
Page six? Really?
-
Still listening to music.
-
I'm kind of tired, and I really must get to bed right after posting the notes, since I must be up at six.
-
I'm tired too. Time to sign off, good night
