Well, you've read the notes, the notes were frozen and had gravity, and now it is time for you to post until the frozen cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SCRUTATE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
Awoke WA-A-AY too early, but am feeling fine nonetheless and it's just about time for some coffee ... and the last of the King Cake.
-
bk, I am wondering if the process of writing the daily notes helps you when you are writing your books. Every author talks about facing "the blank page," but you do this every single day. Just wondering if you feel that forcing yourself to face this challenge every day helps when it comes to your book writing.
-
Loved all the fun photos you posted last night, DR Vixmom. Two glamorous gals! :)
-
Good morning.
-
A big Thursday Howdy to everyone! (It IS Thursday-- isn't it?)
-
When in doubt, combine two popular forms of reality television and create a new hybrid. :P
This crossed my desk this morning:
The Casting Firm and a Major Cable Network are searching nationwide for choirs to transform on the new series

- Are finances, a lack of resources, failing instruments or other challenges plaguing your choir?
- Is conflict between choir members keeping you from becoming great?
- Is your choir’s vocal ability not coming through because of infighting or lack of practice?
- Do you worry your choir will fall apart if things don’t improve?
- Does your choir have a unique or compelling story the world needs to know?
- A GRAMMY WINNING ARTIST along with a CELEBRATED GOSPEL STAR and team of experts will transform struggling choirs into inspiring musical powerhouses! Seeking choirs with bold, outgoing members who are ready to open their doors and let our experts take their choral program to the next level!
Apply or nominate a choir today! ALL TYPES OF CHOIRS ARE WELCOME (CHURCH, COMMUNITY, SCHOOL, ETC.)

(It IS Thursday-- isn't it?)
You've been sniffing saffron again, DR Kerry. Haven't you? :)
-
What is all this about Zac Saffron?
-
New York One is reporting thta the whole Adele Dazeem thing is helping Idina Menzel's drawing power in her new Brian Yorkey-Tom Kitt Broadway show IF/THEN.
-
Good morning, all! I am off to Toylnd. I have to pay my accountant for my tax work and send off my 2013 taxes. Following that, Anthony Morelli is stopping by to pick up some work I've asked him to help me with, and i ave to scan the two good reviews and send them to the foundation and to New World Records. On my way home, I have some banking to do.
I couldn't get to sleep again last night, so I'm rather zombie-like at the moment. I need more coffee.
-
new Yorkey
For a moment there, I thought that NYC had a new nickname. :) Then I figured it out. :P

new Yorkey

LOL, singdaw - I fixed the post. Hadn't noticed that!
-
HA!
Good news from DR CILLA LIZ last night - vibes that you have great communication with your new doctors.... I liked your description of the telephone call.....their actions just cost them a LOT of money!
-
Nice review posted yesterday for MR BK & Co..... DR ryacko was nicely mentioned but there was no mention of his causal attire.
-
Frozen Gravity sounds like something you might want to put on top of your dessert.
-
TOD:
Gravity
2001: A Space Odyssey
Rocky Jones Space Ranger (tv)
Cat Women of the Moon
Queen of Outer Space
Forbidden Planet
and MANY others.
-
TOD:
I am not much of a fan of space travel movies, but I did enjoy GRAVITY.
Part of the problem, I think, is that movies of this genre usually don't fare well over time.
Why?
Because the fx technology keeps improving and a movie that was considered "ground breaking" 10-20 years ago, unless it has a terrific story or something else to recommend it, looks dated today.
-
We watched MANDELA:Long Walk to Freedom last night.
Enjoyed it.
-
TOD:
DR Jrand63's list inspires me, so...
2001
Forbidden Planet
Robinson Crusoe on Mars
Queen of Outer Space
Alien and Aliens (what the hell)
Gravity
Capricorn One (even though, you know...)
I must also include certain movies relating to real life events such as:
The Right Stuff
Apollo 13
Oh HELL, what am I forgetting? I do like space and space travel movies. (But I'm not a Trekkie, so not those...)
-
I guess I'm already stretching it a little, so...
Barbarella
Planet of the Vampires
:)
-
The dated-FX type of thing can bother me, too, but usually only for a moment, or when there's no other redeeming feature that enables me to overlook it.
-
Happy Birthday to Miss Allison Hayes....who would have been 83 years old today....if she hadn't died when she was 46 years old.

Greetings from Toyland! Taxes are taken care of and I am happy to have them off my back and into the hands of the state and IRS.
-
Good morning, all.
Loved the photos last night, Vixmom. You both look great.
-
We watched MANDELA:Long Walk to Freedom last night.
Enjoyed it.
Saw a preview for that the other night. Made me really want to see it.

It looks like Audra M. has dropped in on Sweeney, but the story doesn't say if her performances will be filmed. She wasn't in the video of the Patti LuPone-George Hearn version, which was supposed to have starred Terfel. And both are directed by Lonny Price. It's all too complicated.

Thursday morning greetings! It's opening day for AAUW Middletown's 58th Annual Used Book Sale! Here's the lovely poster designed by my friend Suzy:

TOD:
Queen of Outer Space
12 to the Moon
and of course the Bollywood movie, Trip to Moon
-
And speaking of Queen of Outer Space, I was just chatting with her (Laurie Mitchell, that is) over the weekend. She is such a wonderful gal!
Here she is in Queen of Outer Space with what she refers to as her mush-face:
And her she is some 55 years later, looking lovely as ever!

I will join DR JRand in the birthday rememberance of Miss Allison Hayes!
True fact: Allison Hayes was responsible for my making the acquaintance of DR Jrand prior to ever coming to HHW.
-
Slow news morning.

Here's a photo of the main room of the book sale site:

I love a good used book sale, Ginny. Hope it's a busy one.

Thanks, DR John G! The weather looks good for the weekend, so that should help with turnout. This new location is full of unknowns, though...

Wonderful, MBarnum.
-
Thanks for the book sale pics, DR Ginny. Maybe I'll take a few this summer of the ones I go to.
-
Ah yes, DR John G, Fire Maidens from Outer Space...one I have yet to see!
-
(http://i1282.photobucket.com/albums/a532/singdaw1/musicaljoke_zpsbfb074a3.jpg)
-
I love book sales! The problem is, I should be holding one of my own, instead of frequenting others and adding to my unwieldy collection.
-
(http://www.omenaheights.com/queen_outer_space_unmasked.jpg)
That reminds me... I really need to make my next dermatology appointment.
-
Wish I could go to the book sale.
Nice posters DR MBARNUM.
-
And also IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE....the movie that "inspired" ALIEN....
IT! features Ann Doran as a crew member who is a navigator....she also performs an autopsy on a dead fellow crew member ("Every bone in his body was crushed, but that's not what killed him..." And she bakes an apple pie to cheer everyone up.

That sounds like a charming film, DR Jrand63! :)

Thanks for the book sale pics, DR Ginny. Maybe I'll take a few this summer of the ones I go to.
I'd love to see pics of other book sales!
-
I love book sales! The problem is, I should be holding one of my own, instead of frequenting others and adding to my unwieldy collection.
DR Singdaw, we have people who buy books from us one year and donate them back the next!
-
Wish I could go to the book sale.
...
I wish you could, too, DR JRand!
-
Good Morning!

I couldn't agree more with bk's assessment of "Frozen", especially the lyrics.

The Blob!
-
WE have blobbed our way to page 3!
-
Thanks, DR DakotaCelt!
-
Well, this is interesting. An "app" that will allow you to read a novel in 90 minutes.
http://elitedaily.com/news/technology/this-insane-new-app-will-allow-you-to-read-novels-in-under-90-minutes/
Mind you, I'm not saying that this is a GOOD thing. But it is interesting.
-
WE have blobbed our way to page 3!
That's pretty much the way I always navigate to a new HHW page. :)
-
From DR Cilla:
She was actually pretty pleasant about it after that
That surprises me. Once your records are transferred you might want to send a private letter to the doctor as to why you left. I wonder if she feared that and decided she had better be pleasant to you.
-
Bruce I didn't think Goth when I looked at the Vixter's photos. Her hair is a bit dark for my taste but at her age she pulls it off and looks very pretty and grown up.
-
DR Vixmom you were easy to spot. :)
-
Yes lovely pictures from DR VIXMOM......and I spotted you right away! The smile is the same!
-
DR SINGDAW is your choir going to be on TV?
-
I don't think so, DR Jrand63. I don't think it needs to be "fixed." :)
-
What's this? Spielberg is talking about re-making West Side Story? Oy!
-
WHAT???
-
Chicken mobiles and Round ups in the area today!
-
news Flash: Cow running loose in Casselton, ND.. Locals are befuddled!
-
What's this? Spielberg is talking about re-making West Side Story? Oy!
Yeah. Sad.
Has anyone seen the preview of the new "Annie" movie?
I haven't had time to watch it yet.
-

I'm sure in some way it does - I've never sat when I'm doing a book and stared for too long - I learned a long time ago to just dive in and write even if it's not good - then fix later - that way you start - starting is the thing - easy to fix stuff after.

I'm up after a good night's sleep. Good thing I set the alarm - I probably would have slept till noon.
-
Okay, so finally, after posting about the oak stereo rack or whatever it was originally called, this will probably be a letdown, but here it is:
The bottom shelf was, of course, designed for holding records, and those are what remain of the soundtrack albums.
(The rest of the records cover an entire wall, I'm afraid, and while it's a nice collection accumulation, it all needs to be whittled down further. At its peak several years ago, I estimated it to be some 5,000 albums. Oy!)
More to follow.
-
Since these components sit on a side wall (with the TV at the "front" of the room), I'd had trouble with the signals from the remotes reaching their intended targets from the couch, so moving the Blu-ray player and cable box to the corner and putting them at an angle was just the ticket.
-
And here's the TV stand, the other favorite solid oak piece from Rogersound in the mid-'80s:
-
Finally, for the sake of completion since it doesn't show up with the rest, the turntable on wall-(studs, baby, studs)-mounted rack.
-
That's all, folks. Unlike with Vixmom and SingSing, you don't get a picture of me in an evening gown.
-
I had that same Pioneer reel-to-reel tape recorder!
-
Nice set up CHas
-
Nice set up CHas
Nice, indeed.
-
I had that same Pioneer reel-to-reel tape recorder!
I didn't, back in the day, but I lusted after it in every Pacific Stereo store I entered! I bought this one from a guy on eBay several years ago who proved to be totally reliable on this stuff, and it's in wonderful condition.
-
Nice media room, DR ChasSmith!
-
One more ...
-
Four!
-
(http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5119R68KPPL.jpg)
-
Wow! :)
-
Wow, DR ChasSmith - that is some set-up!!! You almost need a special shelf just for all the remotes!
-
It is nice to know that you get serious use out of that equipment.
-
Thursday morning greetings! It's opening day for AAUW Middletown's 58th Annual Used Book Sale! Here's the lovely poster designed by my friend Suzy:

Nice poster! Hope they make lots of money!!
-
Nice set up DR CHAS SMITH. Thanks for the pics! Someday I plan to have a media room that is separate from my sleeping room....but it is not in the near future.
-
DR Ginny, is that the old library on First Avenue?
-
And I am home from Toyland. I had a lovely visit with Anthony Morelli, who brought photos of his Christmas trip with DR Ben to Minneapolis and other hot midwest stops. There were some wonderful photos, and I really enjoyed the visit. I have to return a call from the Man From Philadelphia shortly. It bodes little good, in my book, and I'm really not in the mood at the moment to listen to him talk for some length of time.
-

That looks pretty cool...and if comprehension increases, that's a good thing. Reading the original Huffington Post article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/27/spritz-reading_n_4865756.html), it looks like it's only going to be available for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Gear 2 watch. I have neither.

;)

DR ChasSmith, you have a lot of electronical entertainment gadgets there! And they are all set up so nice and neat!

DR Ginny, is that the old library on First Avenue?
No, DR Elmore, it's the old Barnitz Bank, on the southwest corner of Main and Central.

Nice set up CHas
Nice, indeed.
Yes indeed. I enjoyed the photos.

I personally need to read slower, not faster. All that blinking won't work for me anyway.

DR Ginny best of luck with the book sale in your new location. If you happen to notice any copies of "Cleaver of the Good Luck Diner" in the children's section please get them for me.
Cleaver is a Bernese Mountain Dog & you can see him on the cover. The author is James Duffy.

Back from the LACC casting meeting, which went very well. I will be sharing about four cast members only with the show before us, but in terms of actual overlap where I won't have them, it only really involves about four days, so I'm fine with that.
-
Sharing cast members is a hazard of my summer theatre experience.

Why, DR George, I am shocked. What kind of a jernt do you think I'm running here? :)
Top shelf: Jolida phono pre-amp, Teac cassette deck, Pioneer reel-to-reel deck, Pioneer Elite A/V receiver.
Middle: Sony Beta HiFi VCR (not connected at present), Pioneer LD player with Lexicon surround decoder (you needed an outboard one back in those days), Panasonic VHS+DVD recorder. The little thing sitting on top is a Sirius.
EDIT: Other items were the cable box and Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player (all-region). TV is Panasonic 50" 3D plasma. Speakers are a mixed bag: my original Vandersteen 2C's (with small power amps because I wasn't sure it was a good idea to call upon the receiver to power those along with everything else -- but in fact, I've been told that would probably work fine and sound even nicer); Energy center and side surrounds, Jamo rear surrounds, and Lava subwoofer. Purists would scream, but it's all balanced and I assure you it sounds fabulous. What else? Oh-- turntable is the late-'80s incarnation of the original AR turntable, with Rega tonearm and an old Audioquest cartridge that should probably be replaced.
-

I decided I should check the tracking number on a package today. I notice UPS has it out for delivery until and then realized delivery in Mesa, Arizona.
It turns out 2 packages were given the same tracking number. ??? Our package should be delivered tomorrow.
-
The Planetarium Station of the US Postal Service strikes again. My carrier is out with an injury, so I have no idea who's delivering the post these days. I do have an idea that the place is run by a completely inept manager since I just spoke to the fool.
There was a delivery attempt notice in my box today that they couldn't deliver a package since I was not here at 4:34pm. Well, I've been here since 3:09, according to the clock on my VCR. The dumbfuck postal person did not ring my bell. On top of that, my last Netflix shipment, which usually arrives the day after they ship, is now two days late. God alone knows where it's got to. It's probably sitting at another apartment building.

Wow...much, Much, MUCH (that's three muches) more advanced that what I have!

Just got my invite to Rachael Ray's house party during SXSW. A band named Diarrhea Planet is playing. I think I'll pass on that one. I do like the band name No.

I saw this yesterday. It's an interesting idea. But who would really want to read that fast? It's fun to test yourself at the different speeds. But I would definitely not want to read at that fastest level.
-
The band name seems especially inappropriate for anything to do with food.

Reading the original Huffington Post article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/27/spritz-reading_n_4865756.html), it looks like it's only going to be available for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Gear 2 watch. I have neither.
I personally need to read slower, not faster. All that blinking won't work for me anyway.
Do you read very fast?
-
Just got my invite to Rachael Ray's house party during SXSW. A band named Diarrhea Planet is playing. I think I'll pass on that one. I do like the band name No.
What is a Rachael Ray house party? Will she be there?
-
DR elmore you must have the worst post office in the country. Too bad you can't have all your mail sent to a private PO Box and then delivered from there to you.
-
Had a really good work session with Sandy and Lanny and it's full speed ahead on our next album. Then we had food - I had a chili cheese and onion hot dog and fries. Really good.

Sounds great!

Well, this is interesting. An "app" that will allow you to read a novel in 90 minutes.

I can. I used to read much faster with a higher retention than I do now. I can also speed read, which is even faster, through the boring parts of a novel. I can look at a page and pull out the important words so that when I slow down again I haven't really missed anything and can continue to follow the plot. I can only speed read novels.
-
If I need to speed read too much of a book I will usually say it isn't worth reading, unless I have to read it for my book group. I seem to retain enough of those books to discuss them intelligently.
-

Wonderful!

Second this. It's criminal, the incompetence and utter lack of caring going on there.
-
That hot dog does sound good!!!
Haven't had a chili/cheese/onion dog in maybe a couple of years. For my taste, that's one in particular that Nathan's excels at. I don't usually bother with the cheese, though, because the chili is so damned perfect by itself. Starving now...
-

Wonderful!
Hoo and Ray!!! :)
-
The band name seems especially inappropriate for anything to do with food.
I agree..

In that app, which speed would you say is the closest to how fast you normally read?
Every avid reader I've seen who saw that app says that they would never read that fast. They read to enjoy.

I couldn't tolerate the flashing lights. I don't think I read that fast. Bryan can read faster than I ever did and retain twice as much though I'm not sure how fast he can read medical books.
-
I force myself to slow down when I read and I can no longer tune the world out when I'm reading which does slow me down. There was a time I could completely concentrate on a book with the tv blasting, no longer. I now have to put the book down. When I was young I even read while walking. Of course I wouldn't even attempt that today even if I could walk and read at the same time.
-
DR Jennifer I returned to the link and concentrated on ignoring the flashing and was able to read 500 words per minute. It was fast but ok. I was very comfortable at the 350 word level. I wouldn't want this ap and would want to control my speed. Sometimes I like to re-read a section for clarity or pleasure.
-
And I now have a mild headache & eye strain from that ap-lol I'm sure it will be gone soon.
-
The band name seems especially inappropriate for anything to do with food.
I agree..
Hope they didn't accidentally switch the name of the band with the name of the party. If you had the Pepto booth, though . . . .
-
I find the idea of the app very interesting, but it's hard to imagine actually using it to read a book. I might even be one of the more undisciplined readers around, but I wouldn't trade my actual experience of reading for anything. (If that sentence makes any sense.)
-
Topic of the Day (in alphabetical order):
2001: A Space Odyssey
First Men in the Moon
Forbidden Planet
Gravity
The Last Starfighter
Silent Running
Space 1999 (okay, this is a TV series, but they're travelling through space!)
The Star Trek movies (all lumped together)
Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi
-
And now, I'm off to usher for a silent movie! The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2014/3/6/silent-movie-series-the-four-horsemen-of-the-apocolypse.html), starring Rudolph Valentino in his breakthrough starring role as the tango-dancing Julio. It features live organ accompaniment and is always a lot of fun to see!
Be back later!

It does.
-
Star Wars and the two that followed, but most of all Star Wars
The Last Starfighter
Starman
The Star Trek series
Stargate
I must like movies with the word Star in them.
-
At 1:22PM I received the following notice from UPS:
A LATE UPS TRAILER ARRIVAL HAS CAUSED A DELAY. WE'RE ADJUSTING PLANS TO DELIVER YOUR PACKAGE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
At 2:13 PM they notified me my package had been delivered, but of course that was to Arizona.
I guess UPS doesn't have an actual pre-programmed announcement "We screwed up".
-
Richard and I went for the opening of the book sale and stayed to help for a couple of hours. There were a lot of dealers there and Betty and I rang up several 3-figure sales.
-
Nice DR Ginny.
-
The dealers are INSANE at the sales here, and while I don't know them myself, I always see familiar faces from as far back as 15 years ago. These folks cover sales all over the northeast.
I don't suspect too many of them of being the kind of high end dealers the likes of BK knows and deals with. Most of these seem to want the shiny new stuff they can zap with their scanners and turn over quickly on eBay. I think. Which is fine with me, because for the most part they aren't after the stuff I'm there to seek out.
-
I usually don't like to be at the sale on opening night because of the dealers, but as president I thought I should be there this year. My real satisfaction is selling books to families and cute kids.
-
I forgot about the Star Wars films!
I happen not to be a typical true blue Star Wars fan, but -- as DR George now knows -- I have a certain fondness for the original three films, only one of which I even saw in a theater ("Star Wars", at Century City).
Edit: (Okay, I did go to see the "special editions" in '97.)
-
My favorite space travel movies:
A Trip to the Moon (that's what it is, but it's much more than that)
The Honeymooners (okay, just kidding, but Ralph did offer many times to send Alice to the moon)
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (the Moon episode)(both the original and the Gilliam version)
Plan 9 From Outer Space (Bunny Breckinridge sends Dudley Manlove to Earth to reanimate Vampira and Lugosi)
Marooned (also rhymes with moon, and is the past tense of Bugs Bunny's favorite epithet)
Duck Dodgers in the 25th and a Half Century (Daffiness ensues)
Stowaway to the Moon (TV movie I liked as a kid of the Apollo program era, not Showtime at the)
First Men in the Moon (Harryhausen!)
Moon Zero Two (Hammer goes to the moon!)
2001: A Space Odyssey (a masterpiece that reveals itself slowly over repeated viewings)
Planet of the Apes (1968, very different from the novel, and worlds better than Marky-Mark's version)
Invaders From Mars (the original score from this movie needs to be released very badly)
The Martian Chronicles (TV miniseries, not great, but not too bad in parts)
Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (Supermarionation without marionettes!)
-

Exactly. And mine is seeing stuff I've contributed get selected by regular folks.
-

Families and cute kids are more fun to sell to, especially those cute kids. I always enjoyed working the book fairs when the boys were in elementary school.

I enjoy watching the families go absolutely nuts in the (usually very large) VHS (yes, VHS) family/kids/Disney movie/animated sections. It's a scene I'm "so" not a part of, but I love the enthusiasm and fun I'm witnessing. They are truly like kids in candy stores.

What is a Rachael Ray house party? Will she be there?
Ray throws two parties each year during South by Southwest, Austin's annual movie, tech and music fest. Her husband is a musician, so the parties showcase plenty of music and free food. Yes, she's at the parties each year. She's really nice, poses with everyone for photos, and stands in front while her husband plays and cheers him on.

Both the album and the chili cheese dog sound great.
-
I should also have included Planet of the Apes, Invaders from Mars, and The Martian Chronicles. Oy!
-
Star Wars movies in order of preference:
1a. Empire Strikes Back
1b. Star Wars
2. Return of the Jedi
3. (last half of) Revenge of the Sith
49. (maybe one half hour's worth of) Attack of the Clones
132. (too much talking, too many midichlorians, and too much of Jake Lloyd) The Phantom Menace
-

I had a hard time at the 2008 sale when a lot of my late mother-in-law's books were in stock.
-
That would be hard Ginny.
-
Los Angeles has been named the city with the worst congestion, while Austin ranks as No. 4. Haven't driven in LA in years, but I know Austin is a horror.
-
I'm not sure about that app - I have no interest in speed reading like that - I take my time and bask in the prose I'm reading. Maybe for a bio or something, but even then, I see no benefit in it. Maybe for students? Not for me.
-
I forgot to add the original Star Trek series and Lost in Space. And, as a fan of Jonathan Harris (Dr. Smith), Space Academy.
Of the Star Trek movies, in order of preference:
1. The Wrath of Khaaaaaaaaaaan (Ricardo Montalban, need I say more?)
2. The Voyage Home (about whales, not just Shatner's girth at the time.)
3. The Search for Spock (Nimoy was quite good in this one.)
4. The Final Frontier (actually quite awful, but Shatner did put his mark on this one, boy did he ever and how!) ("Sha Ka Ree" was a way of referencing Sean Connery, who turned down the role of Spock's brother, I recall, but was it a mockery of Connery?, I don't know. Maybe the budget on toupees was too prohibitive.)
32. The Motion Picture (like watching paint dry, or the spirit glue dry on the many toupees in the cast, what the heck happened to Robert Wise?)
100+ All of the Next Generation movies (despite liking Patrick Stewart, found all of them to be blown up episodes of the TV show, nothing that great, too chatty, admittedly I am a dyed in the wool original series fan.)
250+ All of the Star Trek reboots (aside from the actor who plays the young Bones McCoy, the magic is just not there for me.)
-
Met with my stage manager and our cast posting goes up at LACC tomorrow. I'm not assigning many of the roles, save for about five (of the ones students are playing) because I want to assign the others, and there will be some doubling, once I know them a bit better, but before we actually begin. Because we're only sharing five people between two shows, I'll actually come in a week or two prior to our rehearsals starting, just to sit with our cast, let Kay Cole meet them, and just talk about the show and stuff.
Also, I'm meeting with the set and costume folks in about fourteen days - I think the costumes will probably be very true to the B'way and movie designs of Alvin Colt, which were in turn true to Mr. Capp, but I had an idea for the set that I'm hoping will happen - of course, it will be Al Capp-esque as was the B'way set and the film set, BUT I want our set completely in black-and-white like the Al Capp drawings were. That way, all the color comes from the costumes.
-
Whoa. Nice.

I didn't realize we were including tv shows. I was a Star Trek fan from day 1.
Interesting about the actor playing Bones because the original was the one actor on the show I never really warmed up to. I am very happy with the new Bones.
-
Whoa. Nice.
Comic strip ditto
-
Don't that take the rag off'n the bush!

I can only imagine students, who have to read a book and don't want to, using this. Then I have to wonder using this app can they possibly pass a quiz on the book.
-
Haven't gone, but there's a restaurant in Tucson (wonder if the Capp estate had contacted them):
-
Watched a fairly mediocre noir called "Angel Face" with Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons. D. Tiomkin score blaring throughout. Nice cast and some promise in the script, but Otto Preminger's direction is way too melodramatic and the limitations of what could be shown seem to strangle too much of it.
So, I'm off to read.
-
thank you all for the kind words about the pictures
-
Jeanne the Vixter's nametag read "Arwyn" one of the characters in the Lord of the Rings movies
-
Bruce, the Vixter isn't going "Goth" she just happened to be wearing a black gown. She has wanted to dye her hair black since she was a little girl and I never would allow it , but now that's she's nearly 21 she decided to go for it - it came out better than I feared it would
-
Sorry but i am a bit tired so good night all
-
Great news about a new Sandy Bainum album!!!! :)

I could read all the levels fairly easily. But I normally read way slower than the 250 word level.

Finished with my viewing. One excellent motion picture, and one excellent first episode of a series.
-
Bruce, did you get to watch "House of Cards"?
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dfR2pLh2-E
Commercial for a local restaurant called Space Aliens...

WE have landed on page 7!

I watched episode one of House of Cards - it was really good.
-
I have seen a few episodes of House of Cards
-
I really enjoyed it also...

I first read that as "corn porn." :o
;)

Tonight's showing of "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse" on a big screen with live organ accompaniment was a lot of fun. There were over 200 people in the audience, which was a lot of people for the silent film series. The organist does a lot of research and talks about the movies before they start, and tonight he said that the score that he was going to play was actually written in 1920 for the movie in its original run. You really could tell that it all fit together. I really enjoy seeing these films.
-
Topic of the Day (addendum):
I just thought of "Mars Attacks!"...and even though it's a stage musical, I want to include "The Brain From Planet X"!
