Good morning, all! I have this memory that I moved my physical therapy this morning to an earlier time, so I need to phone and verify that. Hopefully, too, the super will finish off the ceiling today, so I can spend a couple of days sorting through the junk i've accumulayed in the past 30 years and toss out a lot of cabels for TV, computer, etc., nails, picture hooks, etc.

Good news about Sandy's show and sad news about DR Jeanne's car vandalism.

The Man from Philadelphia approved the edits on his writing, which was a great burden off my back, and two more essays ready for the printer. I've got some work on the recording synopsis to drop the word count, and I'll work on that this afternoon.

I'm thrilled, also, to hear that the HOLIDAY IN SPAIN release is coming to fruition, complete with BK participation.  I have actually been meaning to ask if that was happening, these past couple of weeks, but kept failing to think of it when sitting at the computer.  Thank you for jumping in and getting involved with that!

DR Jeanne, sorry to hear about the vandalism to the mirror.  Are you sure it might not have been done by someone else just speeding by?

I've suffered side mirror damage (and a couple of replacements) three or four times over the years.  Mine were all due to people's utter carelessness in driving.  Once I got sideswiped while sitting at a light, and the woman just drove on.  I was so furious I followed her, flashing my lights and honking my horn, all the way to where she lived, and she finally stopped and let me talk to her.  She offered me a twenty dollar bill toward the repair!!  I wasn't really in any mood to call police or get involved any further than that, but I refused the twenty and got a little bit of satisfaction standing there yelling at her for a minute.  That was some fifteen years ago, here in Danbury.  These days, I wouldn't let my anger entice me into "engaging" like that, what with so many crazies out there with guns and whatnot.

I agree about DR Jeanne's car mirror. It would make more sense that the mirror on the street side was accidentlt hit vs vandalized. Why would someone want to intentionally vandalize a mirror?

Oh -- I must report to DR vixmom the latest parking coup:   $18 (count 'em) in a theater district garage on the most crowded and agonizingly slow-moving Sunday afternoon I've experienced in a long time.  It's the ICON on W. 45th that goes underneath Junior's, near the Booth.  I've used that one a lot over the years because you can't beat the location.  Now you can't beat the price, either, at least when using these web coupons.  Mine was from http://nyc.bestparking.com/

These coupons must be all the rage now.  They have signs posted reminding you to hand your coupons in with your ticket, and to be aware that the use of coupons requires payment by credit card.  At least at some locations.  I think it had to be cash at one somewhere else, not sure.

Good morning, all.

Great news on Sandy's show. The song of hers that I've been listening a lot to lately is "Don't Quit While You're Ahead." Makes me want to get back to the ballroom dancing more than ever. Hopefully soon.

Sorry about the mirror, DR Jeanne.

Monday vibes for all.

JRand, had a weird dream last night, so it's time to haul out the Dream-o-matic.

Dreamt that I was vacationing with friends on an island off the east coast. One of the friends was Blythe Danner, a bit younger than she is now. Anyway, she wanted to get into a kayak, so I helped her. Suddenly a hurricane like storm blew in and her kayak was found, but she wasn't for a day or two. When she was found, she was fine. She had decided to swim ashore.

Then we were on some sort of boat going past Navy ships, and there was Fred Astaire singing some sort of special song written for the commissioning of a vessel.

And then I woke up. (Only one margarita last night. Honest.)

And I am home. I like this earlier therapy time.

The bus stop back to Broadway is in front of a pre-school, and while I was waiting for the bus, all the pre-schoolers came out with their supervisors. They were so adorable! One little girl kept waving at me, so i waved back, then I asked her where they were all going. She said it was a play date in the park. When they all headed off, several waved goodbye. It made my day.

On an unpleasant note, I saw the super and asked about the ceiling; I got an "I'm waiting for . . ." response, that boded ill.  We'll see how the afternoon goes.

So, I've got a few edits on the liner notes to do and I should get to them.

DR JOHN G - the Dream-O-Matic 6000 has this to say about your dream:

Ms. Danner - younger than she is now - in a kayak tells us that you are apprehensive about a certain part of your life. That she was presumed lost and later found, indicates that you are avoiding certain emotional aspects that seem to demand your attention. You do not wish to rock the boat or sail into stormy seas....so waiting is the key to success.

Leaving one vessel for another tells us that you are facing a change in your life, one that may be celebrated by some and disapproved of by others.

DR JRand, if the Dream-o-matic is not too pooped out, I have had recurring dreams about moving. Usually I am living with my sister, but am having to move out...and I am quite aprehensive about doing so. Then, it turns out I already have been paying rent on a perfectly nice apartment somewhere else, and everything turns out fine.

Other times it is that I am living with my sister (or sometimes with my dad and stepmom) and find I will have to move, along with my younger brother, to my mother's tiny cottage or trailer. I am worried about how we will all get along in such a tiny space. Then, like the above dream, it turns out I have been paying rent on an apartment that I forgot about, so as it turns out i can move there.

Have been having these dreams for the last 6 months or more, with slight variations, such as having to move to Medford for a new job. But then it turns out there was/is no reason for me to move as I already have a job and place to live where I am.

Please tell me, am I crazy? Don't hold anything back.

No DR MBARNUM you are not crazy.

The Dream-O-Matic 6000 says:

These dreams indicate that you feel that you and your closest relatives are distancing yourselves from each other.  You are also exploring new aspects of your personality that sometimes manifest themselves in surprising ways.

They also indicate that you have a definite future mapped out for yourself if you can keep yourself on the road to your plans.

You have also probably experienced increased dream activity because of a number of past lives trying to come forward to help you solve problems or find answers in your current life.  Listen to them....you came back to correct these miss steps from the past.

I sort of enjoyed Tarzan the other night. The book, music and lyrics are all inane and instantly forgettable, but the cast gave it more than it was worth. The lead actor was game; he swung high out over the audience to the expected oohs and ahs. And the choreography was a lot better than I saw in videos from Broadway.

And a phrase:  Imperturbable Perspicacity

Chunks is a perfectly good word associated with food, as in "After dining at Biff's Eatery, he blew chunks all night".

If it's giggling that makes a word a $10 one, how about:

Premature expostulation

Wow, Jack! That last part is exactly as some of my Hindu friends tell me! How strange!! Thanks!

On another good note, it looks like the reading of CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER will happen at the York on July 22 at 3:00, unless we run into major problems. I wonder if we can get Steve Kazee?

You mentioned recent stress from your mother.  I think it is bringing back "fun" memories that are bothering your dreams.

DR Elmore, how long have you lived in that apartment? Is it the first and only place you lived in NYC?

No, I lived on West 94th from December 1979 to July 15, 1980. The apartment was huge, five rooms, but it was very haunted and: every morning around 4:30am, my bedroom door would suddenly and violently fly open; I would hear voices and footsteps that creeped me out. I was terrified there alone whenever my roommate went off to her boyfriend's, which was most of the time.

On top of that, the landlord was insane and later jailed for putting a hit on a tenant, there were drug shootings on the corner, and every night, water would pour from the bathroom ceiling light fixture and neither the landlord nor drunk super would do anything.

I agree about DR Jeanne's car mirror. It would make more sense that the mirror on the street side was accidentlt hit vs vandalized. Why would someone want to intentionally vandalize a mirror?

For the same reason someone would intentionally "key" a person's brand new (and expensive) car.

Went to hear Jim Cullum and his jazz band play at a tiny little dive in a not-great neighborhood and was sad when I got there because there were only about 8 or 9 of us there. But by the time I left, the place was SRO. The band had kicked in with some Eubie Blake and Fats Waller. The last song I heard was a lovely take on "I'm Old Fashioned." I'm going to have to go back.

I love that place!   Super convenient and the prices are right (if you hava coupon)

A lightning-quick trip to Tacoma and back will do that to a person.         ;)

I started watching AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR from the very beginning of the broadcast; so, at least I got to see a shot of DN Patrick Hall doing pushups during the opening.

Decided to watch "You Were Never Lovelier" with Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth. I think the title is unvarnished truth. She is loveliness.

Well, the dinner wasn't too bad.  I had the fish-and-chips, and it wasn't too bad...not great, but not bad.  I think everyone else liked what they got.  Several of the early dinner specials included dessert, but my fish-and-chips didn't.  I bought what was called baked cream, aka crème brûlée.  It was pretty good.  The problem is that my sister bought a very fancy three-berry chocolate torte and when we got back to my parents' house, no one wanted any of it.  However, we all brought some home.  I'll have some tomorrow.  I'm stuffed. :)
