The Mississippi River passed "flood stage" in Saint Paul this past weekend, but it is not expected to crest until Thursday this week.      :P

I can see it if I walk a block from my house, but fortunately I am high up on a hill above it.

I am glad you clarified your location from the river.

DR JRand, if the Dream-o-matic is not too pooped out, I have had recurring dreams about moving. Usually I am living with my sister, but am having to move out...and I am quite aprehensive about doing so. Then, it turns out I already have been paying rent on a perfectly nice apartment somewhere else, and everything turns out fine.

Other times it is that I am living with my sister (or sometimes with my dad and stepmom) and find I will have to move, along with my younger brother, to my mother's tiny cottage or trailer. I am worried about how we will all get along in such a tiny space. Then, like the above dream, it turns out I have been paying rent on an apartment that I forgot about, so as it turns out i can move there.

Have been having these dreams for the last 6 months or more, with slight variations, such as having to move to Medford for a new job. But then it turns out there was/is no reason for me to move as I already have a job and place to live where I am.

Please tell me, am I crazy? Don't hold anything back.

You mentioned recent stress from your mother.  I think it is bringing back "fun" memories that are bothering your dreams.

Although I have watched none of the World Cup, I have been enjoying Google's doodles, or whatever they are called. Today's is especially fun(ny)!

A co-worker pointed that out to me, too!  Very funny!

The ceiling is plastered and may be painted tomorrow if the ceiling has dried. Otherwise, I think he said he'd paint it next Monday, which is a longer wait than i'd like. But not as bad as three months.

On another good note, it looks like the reading of CHRISTMAS UP THE HOLLER will happen at the York on July 22 at 3:00, unless we run into major problems. I wonder if we can get Steve Kazee?

Best of luck with that.

For those interested, DR Kate's and my nephew, Patrick Hall, is expected to be on American Ninja Warrior tonight on NBC (9 pm EDT).  He probably won't be on for very long, unfortunately.

A shame he won't be on long.  Did he enjoy the experience?

DR Elmore, how long have you lived in that apartment? Is it the first and only place you lived in NYC?

No, I lived on West 94th from December 1979 to July 15, 1980. The apartment was huge, five rooms, but it was very haunted and: every morning around 4:30am, my bedroom door would suddenly and violently fly open; I would hear voices and footsteps that creeped me out. I was terrified there alone whenever my roommate went off to her boyfriend's, which was most of the time.

On top of that, the landlord was insane and later jailed for putting a hit on a tenant, there were drug shootings on the corner, and every night, water would pour from the bathroom ceiling light fixture and neither the landlord nor drunk super would do anything.

DR elmore3003 - your first NYC apartment sounds like a DEE-light, as DR Jrand63 might say.

Perhaps the apartment in MBarnum's dream was Elmore's fire escape.

True, however, I was referring to the burden set on your shoulders by the Man from Philadelphia.

My dental check-up was uneventful.  I prepared us a nice summer dinner of baked salmon, corn on the cob, and tomato & cottage cheese salad.  Now we're enjoying an evening thunderstorm.
