Well, you've read the notes, the notes called a July a July, and now it is time for you to post until the July cows come home.

Good morning, all! I'm ready for my trek down to Rockefeller Center this morning. I really need my hair cut; it's been seven weeks or so, and both the hair and the time lapsed are too long.

I think I'll head on down to Toyland from there, check on the place, and then head back home. I've got some more trims to make in the recording notes and I'm hoping to have a nice conversation with the Kern attorney.

Isn't the theme "songs from off-Broadway"?

Ryacko singing a medley of Skip's songs sounds like it's going to be wonderful. Indeed, the whole evening sounds like a winner.

Hello Everyone!
I will be off on vacation for the next 3 weeks, but I have loaded 2 new Broadway Radio Shows for your enjoyment.  One of them focuses on New Releases for Summer, including the cast recording of Off-Broadway's Heathers, the SF Symphony recording of West Side Story, as well as some recordings from the vault including albums by Ed Ames and Shirley Jones & Jack Cassidy.

The other new show is very fun, because I got to chat with the talented performer Scott Dreier, who will be performing his show Doris And Me (a tribute to Doris Day) at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood from July 23rd to August 3rd.  Proceeds from the Opening Night Gala on July 23rd go to the Doris Day Animal Foundation.  More information at ElPortalTheatre.com.

I will be back in a few weeks so enjoy the new shows as well as the ones in the Archives!

Summer has hit hard and fast here in Salem, Oregon, 97301. It went from cloudy and mid 70s this weekend to an expected high of 97 today.

I think it is supposed to get down in the 80s later this week, which will be easier to handle.

Does anyone here watch the new AljazeeraAmerica news channel? I have been looking at it over the last several days, and I am pretty darned impressed. They really dig into news stories and they aren't all sparkly and pretty and loud like CNN and the others. They had an interesting story on the Jenna 6 (something I'd forgotten all about), and a major bridge collapse that occured some years back which killed 13 people (I forget where). This story was in connection with a story on the countries infrastructure and how very many bridges are in need of repair.

They just seem to report the news, without taking sides.

I hope they continue on this even keel of news reporting.

I have also heard that BBC news is quite good, but I have yet to check it out.

When I was a kid, I would get out my tape recorder and record the title music from all of the old Universal (and Universal-International) monster movies from the 1930s through the 1950s. I still have it on cassette, but would love to have a good recording of all of those on CD.

Yes, I am watching.  Right now, I'm a fan of Caleb, not so much of Frankie, but we'll see, and I find Devin absolutely out of his mind trying to run his alliance.

I like Joey a lot.

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and, with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath.

This made him a super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis

DR Ron Pulliam,

I cannot remember which one is Joey. Is he the John Travolta look-alike? If so, I like him.

I like looking at Devin, but he is playing probably the worst game in BB history. I suspect he will be gone very, very soon. I also like Victoria. Frankie really ruined his game by nominating her, I think.

Good morning!

I know I've been MIA here for a few days. I was in San Diego over the weekend on gigs, and learning Kritzerland music in the mix.

Happy July, and excellent vibes, xylophones, marimbas and glockenspiels to BK (and all who need). What, no Jew-ly jokes?   :D

I've completely fallen in love with the songs I am singing by Skip Kennon from Time and Again. Really beautiful stuff. I'm only sorry to hear that the show wasn't as successful as the music clearly is.

I had a follower of my website write me this morning asking if I had video of the production of CHESS I did in 1990 with Jodi Benson. I have much of the audio from that show on my site. He then sent me a link to a Tumblr site who had twice ran a live feed of a bootleg video of our entire show, which I did not know existed until this morning. Hmmmm. I wrote said Tumblr-head and asked about it without divulging my identity. I'm not offended by it. I'd honestly just kinda like to have a copy if I can get my hands on it. I hear it's good.   :)

Guess I better get to memorizing My Kritzer music...

Do you mean the way he railroaded his alliance into taking two of the women in as full-fledged members?  He totally overstepped himself there...had no business telling the women about the alliance and had no right to sit there and tell each member how it was a done deal without their mutual consent.  I'd form a new alliance without him.

DR Ron and DR Jennifer (or anyone else), are you watching this season of BIG BROTHER? If so, any thoughts on the contestants?

I am. But I don't know them well enough yet. Although what they showed Devin (is that the single father's name?) do on the last show was so ridiculously stupid.

Do you mean the way he railroaded his alliance into taking two of the women in as full-fledged members?  He totally overstepped himself there...had no business telling the women about the alliance and had no right to sit there and tell each member how it was a done deal without their mutual consent.  I'd form a new alliance without him.

Yes. It was the most ridiculous thing. How could he have thought that was a good idea. I would dump him in a heartbeat.

Devin should have stuck with his Donny alliance, and kept a low profile. He is doomed by his dumbness.

He seems like a nice guy, but just a little too eager.

He seems nice. But what a dumb player.  Why would he go to his new alliance and tell them to get rid of Donnie?  Even if he preferred his new alliance, the bearded guy was still going to be loyal. Why throw him under the bus?

Devin thinks he's a master on how the game should be played.  He's always shaking his head at what others say or do and his diary sessions are all full of ego.

I wanted to like him, initially, but he's too much of a "Howie" -- reacts before he thinks.

Two Christmas movies -- The Bishop's Wife and the original Christmas in Connecticut. Don't know if either has been released.

Yes, the score was remastered for CD from original acetates in the Friedhofer collection at BYU.  It's a lovely score.

I haven't seen hide nor hair of music from "Christmas in Connecticut" yet.  Maybe one day....

Tuesday evening greetings!  Richard and I were up early, intending to go to Home Depot first thing for paint and gear.  While we were eating breakfast, the flooring place called to ask if they could come to give a second opinion on the upstairs bathroom.  The guy who looked at it Saturday saw all kinds of problems, but the guy today said, "No problem, I'll be here at 7:30 tomorrow morning!"

After he left, we headed out and got Behr (brand) Polar White (shade) for the bedroom walls and a chicken to cook for our dinner.  Richard prepped the east wall and will paint tomorrow while the new bathroom floor is being installed upstairs.

When I was a kid, I would get out my tape recorder and record the title music from all of the old Universal (and Universal-International) monster movies from the 1930s through the 1950s. I still have it on cassette, but would love to have a good recording of all of those on CD.

I love you, MBarnum.

Today I have joined the hoi polloi. I have given up the cushy and convenient paid parking spot at my downtown apartment building. I will now park on the street, just like one of the masses.

Hopefully, finding a spot to park will not be a difficulty, at least on the days I have bags of groceries to haul from my car.

Also, I hope I can remember from day to day just where in the neighborhood I parked my car! I may need GPS just for that!

I guess if you unfollow someone that just means you can't see them but they can see you.  I can't find the "hide" option if you want it both ways.  Does anyone know where that went?

Went out to dinner with my friend Gail, her mom and her sisters. Just after we were seated, there was a bit of a kerfuffle that I didn't quite understand, but I saw this group of people being shown to their table. Rather than sitting, the group started acting strange and then disappeared by a nearby door.

It turns out that it was the ex-husband of one of Gail's sisters, the woman he was having an affair with when he got married to the sister and other members of their family. Apparently they saw Gail and family and decided to leave quickly. But they didn't do it gracefully. The door they went through was one door to the kitchen. I'm sure that was a big surprise to the cooks and the rest of the staff. They managed to go out another door and they left the restaurant, according to another sister who watched them to make sure they left.

I used one of of the free entree coupons today  for the grilled shrimp dinner  it comes with rice and two sides,  I ordered two sides of mushrooms  you  get two skewers of shrimp, but one was enough for me

I brought home half the rice  one skewer and one side of mushrooms   so not only was dinner free  but so is tomorrows lunch  :)

Until I was in college I always thought cottage cheese was the proper  cheese for use in lasagna and  ziti etc

Since the Vixter and Vixdad refuse to eat pasta in any way, shape, or form  it really doesn't come up much

Sure your husband will eat one of those nasty kidney pies, but he won't even sample a big plate of fettuccine alfredo!

oh yes -- no pasta , that includes egg noodles, for either of them

Vixdad shuns both mashed and baked potatoes  but will eat rice and stuffing , although the Vixter will not touch either

and then Vixter shuns any cheese but mozzarella

is it any surprise that my  cooking skills have seriously deteriorated since living with these two?

Well, I guess no one from here is ever going to be invited to my house for dinner.  At least, not when I serve my own lasagna, because I make mine with cottage cheese.  I have never claimed it to be Tom's Italian Lasagna, just Tom's Lasagna.  I have never had a complaint from anyone who has tried it.

Same here, TCB.

And here.

Thank you Laura and Ginny,  I am glad I am not alone.

Ann, the divorcee, did beg for her martini to be brought as quickly as possible. Other than that, we laughed at it and dove into our food.

I haven't been able to shake "Great Expectations," though it seems to be trying to shake me.

I watched a mediocre 6-hour British mini-series and then started playing the two musical versions I have. The first, with Tovah Feldshuh and Sally Ann Howes, had only a piano for accompaniment and much of the lyrics was lifted almost directly from the novel. It was misguided, to say the least.

Now, I'm listening to the would-be Andrew Lloyd Webber version, which has an overblown score and wretched lyrics, such as "Cobwebs and Cake," the big number for Miss Havisham. It also has one of those tenors with a ridiculous high range playing Pip. I expect to hear dogs barking the next time he reaches for one of those high notes.

We have our big music festival here on Saturday. It's a day of free music. This year the headliners are Ziggy Marley, Bonnie Raitt and the Avett brothers.  I usually hang out at some friends' house across the street from the festival (Well up and down a HUGE hill and across the street) when I need to cool down.  It's going to be 90 degrees again, yikes, anyway  I haven't really enjoyed my time with that group of people like I used to, so this year I decided to be a sponsor.  I donated the minimum to get into the sponsor tent.  They have free drinks, light food, portapotties you're only sharing with about 100 people instead of 30,000 people, and best of all shade.  And it's right behind the band shell so you can hear everything but it's cool and comfortable.    I've been back there during the festival before, but wasn't really supposed to be there, lol.   Looking forward to that

I mentioned that because I've seriously considered unfriending some of the people in that group.  They are very vocal about their political beliefs and since I no longer share them have been quite rude to me at times or posted things on my newsfeed I really didn't want there - so I removed the posts or hid them. I'm trying to decide if it really matters to me if they realize I've unfriended them and get upset.  I'm starting to think I just don't care.

Just in case you aren't following me on FB ;)   If you could go to this link https://www.facebook.com/pages/Morningside-Animal-Hospital/169091566438393?hc_location=timeline (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Morningside-Animal-Hospital/169091566438393?hc_location=timeline) and friend my vet's office, Morningside Animal Hospital then click on the furry friends photo contest, there are 4 photos of Callie, Ricky and Boo.  If you like them, I may have a chance at a $50 gift cert at the vet, which would pay for about 1 month of their special food.   Someone has a lot of friends clicking on their photos right now, so I could use some help.  thanks

I "liked" them, also, Cilla.  Good luck!

:o Awkward!

Tonight, I watched "America's Got Talent," and the last person shown was a man named Ray Jessel.  He's 84 years old and he performed a song that he wrote and it's already on YouTube.  It's one of the funniest things I seen in a LONG time!

SPOILERS!!  Don't scroll down and read the description...just watch it and enjoy!
