I'm tired of being idle, and even projects I'm working on for myself aren't helping much. I'm feeling antiquated, unnecessary, valueless, and a bit paranoid at the moment, all of which that make it hard to get out of bed or to keep going. I want to work. I never wanted to retire, and perhaps the past 14 yeas of being paid to do what I like have spoiled me.

Post by: elmore3003 on March 13, 2015, 05:47:22 AM: Financially, I'm in a terrible place and will remain so until next Wednesday when my Social Security clicks in for the month. Things will be better fiscally when the IRS return lands but that could be another 2-3weeks away. I do hope not.

My Medicare payment, which was due on March 7, was posted on March 3. It has not yet arrived. I cannot send another check before Monday because I only have enough funds in my account to cover the original check. There have been days when the check clears in two days, since it goes to the GPO, but I've had at least one occasion where a lost check was replaced, the original canceled at the bank for a $25 fee, and then it arrived at my HMO. I guess there are advantages to electronic payment.

Post by: Jrand74 on March 13, 2015, 07:30:04 AM: I don't know from House of Cards since I don't have FlexNit.....but I have to say that I HATE television shows that trivialize our government offices and pretend to show us how everything works....since they mostly are vehicles for political claptrap from one-sided writers and producers - like The West Wing.

And of course we have Madam Secretary, etc. I think it does the process a disservice and feeds into the political schism that is dividing our country.

There are people who will unfriend you on Facebook or punch you in the face if you have the nerve to have a politically different stand than they do.....

And of course as amusing as the news shows on Comedy Central are, they have lessened the impact of REAL news and made everything a punch line or fodder for comedy.....

Which means, I guess, that I wouldn't watch House of Cards even if I had FlexNit.

Cue the series of posts that tell me how wrong I am, and that I just don't understand or have a sense of humor.

Richard and I were there for the first 2 hours of last night's $5 pre-sale, for which we charge admission to people who want the best selection. In my CD player at work: the original Broadway cast recordings of "Rocky" and "Side Show," the soundtrack of "The Last Five Years," and the live concert recording, "Frank Wildhorn & Friends: Live from Vienna." I got "Rocky" earlier this week, but the other three just arrived today.

I also have from the library, the 5-CD and 1-DVD set, "The Essential Barbara Cook Collection." I've listened to the first three CDs, and have the other two and the DVD to get through. I have a lot of listening to do!

I've been a fan since seeing NASHVILLE, which remains my favorite film of the 1970s. The cast is good, and the men's chorus quite wonderful. Two of my ROBERTA Collegians are in the ensemble, and Bill Youmans, who was the bigoted sheriff in the 2010 revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, plays the Mormon who sells one of his wives.

Thank you for the vibes. It will be a tough weekend. I have $9.00 to live on until Wednesday's social security arrives.

I think that's what my sister has. It certainly looks just like that. She loves it. I think she also has the waffle plates, too.

Out of 8 codefendants, we're the last. In a way I really wanted to try this case, but the deal is very good for my client and she's interested in it. It will mean that my schedule has loosened up enough for me to get my work done without being totally stressed out about it. That's a good thing.

I loved the original House of Cards trilogy that the BBC put out back in the late 80's or early 90's

I'm winning the battle. Still haven't slept more than about an hour at a time without waking up and coughing, but maybe that will change this weekend. Today was the last day on my Z pack and I think it worked. I've got some catching up to do at the office tomorrow or Sunday, but with the trial settling I no longer have to write the 9 motions in limine with briefs I was going to do this weekend. If it falls through, I'll be doing that next weekend
