Are those your ask BK questions? :D

ASK BK
When you make Outside The Box episodes do you use a SAG contract or is it an exception like the 99 seat theater rule in LA (which I know they are trying to change)

I had to look up the film Beneath The 12 Mile Reef as I never heard of it before.
My god Robert Wagner was a real looker back then and still good at age 85.
Here is a publicity shot from the movie

Good morning, all.

I've never seen the movie. Or have I? But it seems like I've heard an excerpt or three from the score. Maybe it was on some LP? At any rate, this is excellent news and a no-brainer.

Coffee!

That's thrilling about Richard Sherman and the book. Of course it makes me want to start rereading them, something I started looking forward to after my first time through. I think I'm close to having the time to do it properly.

i found a copy of Beneath the 12 Mile Reef on you tube. I will watch it when I get home tonight. It's looks like a pan and scan version and color is terrible.
https://youtu.be/lIEtstH1kTo (https://youtu.be/lIEtstH1kTo)
or you can see it widescreen or in Spanish dubbed and better color

For some reason I have seen a lot of public domain dvd's of Beneath the 12 Mile Reef.....someone must have been asleep at Fox that day.
Thanks to everyone for the condolences yesterday. It was very comforting to read your posts, and I appreciate it very much.

You are correct DR CILLA LIZ - the prosecutor asked twice during the trial to have this juror removed for cause - the defense rejected a juror because he watched the movie before the trial even started. Both requests were denied.
The mitigation expert continually tweeted her followers during the trial that no one should worry - it was taken care of.....
She also tweeted the results of the verdict about half an hour before court started that morning. Arias' mother also tweeted the night before that no one should be worried...."it only takes one....."
I accept the verdict, I prefer LWOP, but it does seem more than coincidence that this woman was on the jury, would not explain to other jurors why she felt as she did, would not deliberate, etc. But it is over, so I look forward to the sentencing.

Morning all.
That is all.

Good morning, all! I slept quite porly, but I doubt that it had anything to do with a conductor who's an unpopular creep. I slept soundly untl 2:00am, woke up and could nt go back to sleep, so I got up, played at the computer and read all of the preview performance comments on PAINT YOUR WAGON, and then went back to bed. I slept quite fitfully, and i hope things go well at Chelsea Music today.
I did get some news that's positive: my extraordinary sister-in-law Jo sent me this clipping from my hometown newspaper concerning the land that includes my Ohio property:
http://www.journal-news.com/news/news/from-country-two-lane-road-to-five-lane-corridor-i/nkYH6/?ecmp=journalnews_social_facebook_2014_sfp#__federated=1

Here's the only copy of the film to get or watch:
It's in the Fox Cinema Archives series, and is apparently one of the very few of those that they actually released in the correct aspect ratio (CinemaScope). Oddly, it doesn't even come up in a search on Fox's own site, but here it is:
http://www.amazon.com/Beneath-12-mile-Reef-Robert-Wagner/dp/B00GTSVPOW/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1426682361&sr=1-1&keywords=beneath+the+12+mile+reef

Last night's dress rehearsal reports on PAINT YOUR WAGON are quite good, and I am very excited by the fact. Like most of the fools and morons on AllThatChat, you get responses like this:
Not Lerner's best lyrics...by a wide margin. And the story, though not boring, is basically cliched nonsense.
Cliches? I agree; I am so sick of seeing musicals abut Mormons selling their wives to a lot of horny miners
Don't even get me started on this know-it-all's comments on Lerner's lyrics.
I always want to know what shows these folk like.

It's incredible how people must show off how brilliant, and above it all, they are.
-
DR Elmore, I'll read that article and look at the area on Google later. I really hope this portends good things at last.
-
Good morning. Wednesday? It seems like we should be further along than that, but the last few weeks have been strange anyway.
-
I'm up and have announced. Here's the full blurb.
Kritzerland is proud to present a new limited edition soundtrack release – a classic score from the Golden Age:
BENEATH THE 12-MILE REEF
Music Composed and Conducted by Bernard Herrmann
“You see it without glasses!” screamed the one-sheet poster for Beneath the 12-Mile Reef, right under the huge and new Cinemascope logo. Beneath the 12-Mile Reef was the third Cinemascope feature, following The Robe and How to Marry a Millionaire. Fox assembled a cast of young up-and-comers like Robert Wagner, Terry Moore, Richard Boone and Peter Graves, along with seasoned pros like Gilbert Roland and J. Carroll Naish. But the big draw where was Cinemascope, stereo sound, and spectacular photography, both under and above the ocean (Edward Cronjager would win the Oscar for his photography), not to mention a brilliant score by Bernard Herrmann, sounding not quite like anything anyone had ever heard.
Herrmann’s score, in thrilling stereophonic sound, immediately drew audiences into its unusual musical soundscape, weaving an evocative spell with its incredible orchestral colors. The film may be standard issue drama, but it was those underwater sequences that held audiences in thrall. That and the completely unique Herrmann score.
To evoke the underwater world of Beneath the 12-Mile Reef, Herrmann employed nine harps, each with its own separate part. The score perfectly captures the mysterious underwater world – sinuous, hypnotic, flowing – a spellbinding tone poem that even today mesmerizes with its intense beauty. Since this was his first score to be recorded in multi-track stereo, Herrmann went so far as to include diagrams for instrument and microphone placement on his manuscript for the score. Needless to say, the resulting score remains one of Herrmann’s greatest.
Beneath the 12-Mile Reef was available as an early Film Score Monthly CD. Several years ago it reappeared in the expensive Varese Sarabande Bernard Herrmann at Fox box, where the score had undergone an extensive restoration and remix by Mike Matessino. That box sold out very quickly and many fans missed out, so it’s a pleasure to rerelease this amazing score by one of the greatest of all film composers in superb stereo sound.
Beneath the 12-Mile Reef is limited to 1000 copies only and is priced at $19.98, plus shipping. CDs will ship by the first week of May. However, never fear – on average we usually ship two to four weeks ahead of the official ship date. To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

For some reason I have seen a lot of public domain dvd's of Beneath the 12 Mile Reef.....someone must have been asleep at Fox that day.
It's really amazing the stuff that has gone into public domain because somebody at the studios screwed up. Off the top of my head:
TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY (The Jerome Kern Story)
ROYAL WEDDING (Fred Astaire)
SANTA FE TRAIL (Errol Flynn)
THEY MADE ME A CRIMINAL (John Garfield)
BLOOD ON THE SUN (James Cagney)
ANGEL AND THE BADMAN (John Wayne)
ALGIERS (Charles Boyer)
CHARADE[/b] (Cary Grant)
HIS GIRL FRIDAY (Cary Grant)
LIFE WITH FATHER (William Powell)
THE LAST TIME I SAW PARIS (Elizabeth Taylor)
NOTHING SACRED (Carole Lombard)
A FAREWELL TO ARMS (Gary Cooper)
MEET JOHN DOE (Gary Cooper)
A STAR IS BORN (Janet Gaynor)
SUDDENLY (Frank Sinatra)

We woke up to a dusting of snow this morning!
After two lovely spring-like days. Of course, around here the ground is still mostly covered with snow, thanks to all the trees and to being in a slightly higher elevation. But the sunny day yesterday was incredibly beautiful.
And HELL, they're calling for snow on Friday night! Yes, you read that right, the Friday night I'm in the city and will have to make my way back home. Oh well, it'll be a long night, but I'll take the train. Leave the driving to them. Then I'll just have to brush the car off and drive the last twenty minutes home from the station. And for that hour I won't even be able to take the local train, so it's still a pain in the ass...
-
DR Elmore, I'll read that article and look at the area on Google later. I really hope this portends good things at last.
Fingers are crossed! Given that news, my brothers might be right about it selling at a higher price. We'll see. I hope it sells in the next six months.

CD ordered!

Good news DR ELMORE....and right on time with the hoodoo.

The car is done. He said there must be a slow leak somewhere, and he can't find it. The car was low on coolant....it is so HARD to see the place where you have to look. I guess I will just have to check.
And I can never tell when it is full. It says "Fill to this line" - but nothing ever shows, and if you fill to the line, it is overfilled.
I guess I need a flashlight.
-
Six days to tell me this. I called Monday....and I called this morning. He said "I just parked it after driving it around....and it's fine."
We shall see.
-
For a while my VW was leaking a little coolant. Naturally, it uses a "special kind", so I bought the expensive bottle and topped it off a couple of times. The reservoir was perfectly easy to see, but it was indeed hard to get the level just right because it would fluctuate. Anyway, the problem "went away", and a couple of years later while it was in the shop for something else, they finally found and replaced a hose or something and it's been fine since.
Cars. Go figure.

Yes, it's done under the SAG New Media contract.

Wednesday morning greetings! Dishwasher is running and I'm about to walk 'round and 'round the basement. After a shower and lunch, Richard and I will go out to Mom's to visit and get her Easter decorations from her storage unit.
-
DR Elmore, thanks for posting the article that Jo sent. Lots of development in that end of town. Funny, we missed it entirely in the paper. Hope it unfolds to your advantage very soon!
-
I just read the article and browsed the area on maps and Google Earth, and now I have a better feel for it. I always knew where Middletown is, but I'm actually a little shocked at how close DRs Ginny and Elmore's world is to my fifty million trips up and down I-71 and just off the Lebanon exit. Also, I've been over to Miami University and up and down the Springdale-Hamilton stretch a number of times, but I never connected all the dots.
-
DR Elmore, I wouldn't ask you to post an actual address on the web, but can you sort of pinpoint where the infamous house is located?
-
And DRs Ginny and Jrand64:
It probably isn't too early to ask if we might somehow get together when I'm there in May. If we can't all get to one place at the same time, I can probably get to both of your areas if timed right. I could possibly do this on Thursday 5/14 and/or Sunday 5/17. Just something to think about.

Ah, you're way ahead of me! Thursday, May 14 would be better for us because the 17th is probably a Lima Sunday for Fr. Richard.

We could meet in someplace like Greensburg, Indiana - assuming DR JRand has his car back by then ;)

I really liked Derek and Nastia. I thought that Val and Rumer were very good. I also thought that Riker and Allison were amazing. I thought that the girl with the boobs was terrible. I thought that Suzanne Somers had a very tough week (forgetting her steps). I felt bad for Patti. She struggled so much in practice. I just hope that she is able to keep up. I know that most people were really moved by Noah and it is a nice story, but he was really not good. When Amy Purdy danced she was surprisingly good. Because Noah is missing his arm and knee i just don't know that he will be able to do very much.

My library just got mockingjay (dvd). I am looking forward to watching this movie.

BTW, I was up that way last time there in early November. My dad thought I'd enjoy seeing Metamora, and he was so right. I love old canal regions, and found the whole area lovely. It was a great little drive.

There's a park just north of here where you can walk through a dried-up section of the bed of the Miami-Erie canal.

Swallowing some pride here to show you the photo that inspired my renewed commitment to diet and exercise. I really wanted you to see my AAUW friends (plus one grandson). HA! I just have to keep a watch on my coolant level....as DR CHAS SMITH posted....we shall see what we shall see.
I get to return to rehearsal this evening....so that is good.
A Mini HHW Meeting in May would be nice. I haven't gotten the performance dates for the Accountants Musical...so I shall be looking for that.

Thank you DR TCB.
Here is the link to the service for my cousin. Someone else already did the slideshow, so I don't get to do it. I was kind of looking forward to seeing all of the pictures.

There was a short one on FB....I hope it is NOT the one they will be showing at the Memorial. It only shows each picture for a couple of seconds, and most of them are when she was sick.

Good morning. The dental appointment I was hoping I could postpone last week has taken place. The Novocaine is beginning to wear off.

Good afternoon, all.

I loved Barrier Reef as a kid. That was back when Wagner was in It Takes a Thief.

I guess I need to read the news.

I just got word from a friend that her granddaughter and brand new great-grandbaby are on lockdown in that area in Mesa. Someone was in her yard. Two home invasions in the area.

The house is still in the photo on Google maps, but it no longer exists, only the land at 5744 West State Route 122, Franklin, OH 45005.
And I am home from Chelsea Music. Today I gave a lesson in classic Broadway scoring to the Duck Family orchestrator Steve Margoshes, a very wonderful gentleman.

DR TCB.....did you ever find the Three Stooges movie HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL?
It's on a 6 movie set for less than $10 on Amazon. Search the title and you will find it. Not all of the films are in good shape....it's a Mill Creek set....but ROCKET looks pretty good.
It also has The Outlaws is Coming, which is not in good shape, Around the World in a Daze, ...Meet Hercules, and a couple of shorts they appeared in...but not Stooges shorts....

And now I am off to rehearsal.....of a few scenes....even though I am only in one.

Act Two rehearsal vibes for DR GEORGE
Thanks, Jrand, but tonight (and from now on), we're running the whole show! I just went through my lines at lunch and I pretty much have them all. WHEW! Now, I just need them to stay memorized when we go through the whole show without stopping...and then when we add costumes...and then when we add lights and props...and then when we add the audience!

Does the Amazon description say that? Ignore it. They're totally unreliable on that kind of info. This is the Fox release and it's been all over the forums that Fox issued this one right.
However... note what BK said! :) Sounds like there will be some more excellent news coming down the pike one of these days.

A couple of questions for BK: Do Kritzerland and Twilight Time coordinate their releases so that you have easy cross-promotion between the companies; and whether it's specifically done that way or not, does it make it easier to be able to release either format (Blu-ray and CD...or get the rights to release either format) if the other is happening at or near the same time?

You are correct DR CILLA LIZ - the prosecutor asked twice during the trial to have this juror removed for cause - the defense rejected a juror because he watched the movie before the trial even started. Both requests were denied.

JRand, I don't know where you got all that information. I'm sure the requests to strike were public record. Both sides have strikes they can exercise for whatever reason they want to during jury selection, so while the state wanted her excused for cause, they didn't take her off when they had a chance to do that.
The rest may or may not be accurate. I really don't trust what's reported on TV. If the judge denied requests to strike that can be taken up on appeal and there have been reversals for juror misconduct, but they are very rare and it takes a lot of evidence that it was intentional etc. It would result in another retrial so who knows if the state will want to do that.
The tweets aren't that unusual. It does only take one and many attorneys tell their clients and their family members that. The mother could have just been being optimistic and not really have any knowledge. As to the other tweet, who knows, maybe she was just guessing. We have no way to know.
I understand your frustration, but I'm concerned that the TV people often stir that feeling up with inaccurate information especially Nancy G who I believe was admonished at least three times by the courts for her unethical behavior as a prosecutor in Georgia.

Cillaliz, YOU should be an advisor on a lawyer TV show. I remember reading an article about Kathy Bates' show, "Harry's Law," where they said that just about everything they showed her doing in the court room was either illegal or at least a very inaccurate portrayal of how things are really done.

DR elmore--I hope you'll sell your land soon and get more $$ than you expected!
-
Thanks for letting me know about Brent appearing at the ALS benefit. BK! I'm thinking about it...
-
I discovered that my Kraft Mac and Cheese wasn't in the recall....so I ate it
Mine was - all 5 boxes in the cellophane wrapper. No arguments when I took it back to Kroger today.
-
DR elmore--I hope you'll sell your land soon and get more $$ than you expected!
I just hope it sells! More is better than less, but I am counting no chickens, Yet.
-
Speaking of selling.......
-
Our home is not officially on the market, yet we have a showing tomorrow. :-\
-
Delightful discovery for this evening: yes, we DO get TruTV! That enables us to watch the University of Dayton Flyers try to play their way into the NCAA basketball tournament. Can you say Home Court Advantage?
-
I can't really say too much, but don't buy any of the PD copies of Beneath the 12-Mile Reef. At some point it will be coming properly.
It's hard to do and we've only come close once, with Stormy Weather - in future, we will try.
-
Teddy did a great job - he's been doing the hair really short for the last year-and-a-half, but while it's short, he did leave it a bit longer this time, which I like, too.
-
Well, I'm off to the theater. Tonight will be our first complete run-through. No costumes or very many props, but no stopping unless absolutely necessary.
Until later!
-
What?? No posts in more than two hours?
-
I'm at rehearsal and we just finished act one.
-
It went pretty well for me.
-
I only had to call for lines a couple of times...even though I knew them when I went through them out in the lobby.
-
Oh, well. I'll get them down. :)
-
And now...back to rehearsal.
-
Run-through vibes for George.
-
Running on empty right now.
-
Finally started watching the disc you sent of Peter Pan, George. As bad as it is, I'm enjoying parts of it. Not Ashford's choreography and not the tinny orchestrations. Not the Peter, but the Wendy is nice. The camera work is also weird.
-
Car vibes for JRand.
-
Oh dear! It is a bloody ghost town.
-
DR TCB.....did you ever find the Three Stooges movie HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL?
It's on a 6 movie set for less than $10 on Amazon. Search the title and you will find it. Not all of the films are in good shape....it's a Mill Creek set....but ROCKET looks pretty good.
It also has The Outlaws is Coming, which is not in good shape, Around the World in a Daze, ...Meet Hercules, and a couple of shorts they appeared in...but not Stooges shorts....
Thanks Jrand. I got ready to order that set one night, but then my wifi stopped working on my I-pad, so I took it as a sign.
-
But seriously, I will go ahead and order it the next time I get my next SS check
-
Finished with my viewing and season three of House of Cards.
-
Here's a link to a nice copy of Beneath the 12-Mile Reef: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PS7XrCPb6HA
-
Page five? Really?
-
George, it sounds like you and I are a lot alike. No matter how well I know my lines at home, in the car, or in the lobby; the first time I do them onstage in front of the director and my fellow actors, I go up on the easiest line.
-

Thank you, BK, but I have posts to make!
-
Hi TCB
Hi Cilla!
-
How is your cough?
-
BK left.
-
How is your week going, Cilla?
-
I have had a cough for the last couple of weeks, but I thought it was getting better. Today I coughed in front of a friend of mine, and she looked at me like I was near death.
-
Strangely, I don't cough in my sleep any more. Thank goodness.
-
It is really starting to feel like Spring outside.
-
My cough is still hanging on, but it's so much better. I did take the codine to sleep last night and will likely take it again tonight as I really need some sleep
-
My week is getting better, the case that's caused me all kinds of grief is almost done. I convinced them to drop federal charges and offer my client a state misdemeanor instead. We got the misdemeanor done and the motion to dismiss by the government is pending in federal court. I don't foresee any problems with that. Now one more sentencing and I'm never going back to federal court again

I am glad that you are doing better.
-
And I mean it this time
-
And I mean it this time
Is that possible?
-
We had a good rehearsal at band tonight. Lots of people were missing, but I actually like those rehearsals. We seem to spend more time really rehearsing the details for those who are there. We're going to have 6 flutes this concert. The first concert this year there were 11. That was too many.
-

To never go back? Sure. I just say no to federal cases

When is your next concert?
-
or is it possible I mean it this time? Yes. In the past I said I was done because I was tired of it, or because I wanted to do different work. This time, it's because I really got sandbagged by the AUSA and because I understand that the US Atty's office doesn't play fair. I'm getting too old to deal with their BS and I refuse to go through it any more. I suppose if someone paid me some ungodly amount of money to take a case there I might, but I'm not even sure that would do it

April 11th. It's the last one of the year. I think we're finishing pretty early this year, but it is what it is
-
BK never leaves. BK just has allergy attacks these days.
-
How many concerts do you do every year? Are they all held at the same venue?
-
I went to the eye doctor today. My eyes haven't changed much at all...actually for years they haven't changed much at all. They are basically healthy, I just have minor dry eye issues. Anyway, I picked out my every other year pair of new glasses. I figure once every two years is pretty good. The funny thing is I'm going back to frameless - they are rounder than the ones in my avatar. I haven't had frameless glasses in over 5 years but there they are in my avatar, lol
-
The nice thing is I can switch between my last three pairs of glasses and they are all close enough that after 10-15 minutes I can see just fine. Of course after 2 years, they are usually pretty worn - I tend to get lots of tiny scratches on my lenses after a while. They weren't cheap and my insurance didn't help much, but I don't mind spending a little more on something I'm going to wear every day for the next two years
-

We do 4 at the auditorium of a local college, then we do things like a ice cream social - but we didn't do that this year, for some reason, we do the Little Yellow Dog auction, and smaller groups of us play marches and patriotic stuff for Veteran's Day or other such gatherings when we are asked. We don't play in the summer.
-
time for me to get to bed. I'm really behind at work and I need some sleep so I can get a lot done tomorrow. Night
-
I think I need glasses again. I knew it was too good to be true. Of course, I have gone without my glaucoma drops for the last two years, so I am not surprised. I go to my new eye doctor on Tax Day / Titanic sank Day.
-
Good night, Cilla.
-
Page Six!
-
Jane! Can't sleep again?
-
Cough vibes for Cilla & TCB!
-
Not yet Tom. I am sleepy at all. I should begin the book I've been avoiding.
-

Thanks, Jane, mine isn't anything that a little sunshine won't cure.
-
Why haven't you been using your eyedrops? I thought they help.
-

Maybe that book will help put you to sleep.
-
We had lots of sunshine today. I had a nice hike this morning and a nice afternoon walk with Keith. In-between I did errands.
-

I haven't been going to my eye doctor. And then he left town (not because of me), so then I needed to find another doctor who specializes in glaucoma.
-

You could be right.
-
Tom, tomorrow make an appointment for your eyes!!!!
-
I need to hit the hay, too.
-
Tom, tomorrow make an appointment for your eyes!!!!
I have an appointment next month.
-
Guess I will begin my book.
-
Sleep well Tom and Cilla.
-
And I will go read the new TV Guide.
-
G'night!

Glad I could...send it to you, I guess.
;)

Run-through vibes for George.
Thanks, John G.! The second act went as well as the first act. I need to lock in my lines because tomorrow night is the last night that we can call for lines.
-

That's great, Cillaliz! Congrats to you and your client!
