Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in a slight hurry with an edge, and now it is time for you to post until the edgy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRANGIBLE!
-
I am home...finally. At first, a bunch of the cast and crew went to a local brew pub that was supposed to have food, but we were told that their kitchen was closed. Darn. Several of us were hungry.
-
Well, we stayed there and chatted (and many people drank) for about an hour, but the several of us who were still hungry decided to go to Shari's for food and more chatting. We had fun chatting and dishing at Shari's, and the food was pretty good, too.
-
Now I am home and will get to sleep in in the morning.
Have a good day, all!
-
But before I go, Thanks, Tom! (from last night. :) )
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning to all
-
sorry to have dissappeared so abruptly last night I just suddenly was asleep
-
I was directing a production of "Women Behind Bras" by Tom Eyen. A parody of women in prison films. At the first read through I showed them the movie "Chained Heat" with Linda Blair, Stella Stevens, Sybil Danning and John Vernon. It wasn't supposed to be a comedy but it was very funny and helped the cast better understand the ply.
-
Ben I am glad to know your boss won some cash and enjoyed his experience I never get home until jeopardy is over so I haven't seen it in years. I friend of mine was on it - oh it must have been 20 years ago at least - and he unfortunately did not win Instead of the cash he was given "lovely parting gifts" a house alarm system was one of the things I remember
-
The same friend was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire when it was Regis Philben's show he ended up bailing out at some point and I think he got $30 or $50 grand that time
-
the only prison movies I can think of at the moment are "Chicago" and "Birdman of Alcatraz"
-
sorry to have dissappeared so abruptly last night I just suddenly was asleep
Can't imagine why.
-
Toes vibes to Ginny and Jane
-
Cilla I understand congratulations are in order --- are you still going to hang with us little people now that you're one of the 1% ?
:)
-
Well done, by the way, I am tremendously pleased for you
-
We have a closing date on our home, April 20th. That means we need to move by May 20th.
We could use some major vibes things fall in place this weekend and we have a new place to move to.
-
sorry to have dissappeared so abruptly last night I just suddenly was asleep
Can't imagine why.
how is the house hunting going, Jane?
-
I will tell all once I know more.
-
Ah you answered my question as I was still typing it! No luck then?
-
Hi DR Vixmom.
-
Maybe. A decision by us will be made Sunday morning.
-
Hopefully it will still be ours to make.
-
Thus the needed vibes.
-
Having lived in this same little area my whole life it seems so odd to me that you don't have to vacate the house until 30 days after you sell it
How does the money exchange take place? Do you get paid at the closing or do you not get the money until you vacate?
-
Why is everyone up so early?
-
We get the money at closing. We had to sign, online, leasing documents.
-
Good morning, all.
I had a major second wind going last night and am up having gotten only five hours sleep. But I've got a nice unstressful day to enjoy, so the hell with it. Right? That's right. The hell with it.
Major Second Wind, by the bye, is a minor character in my new opera buffo.
Coffee!
-
FJL, not sure. I wish I was sleeping.
-
you don't go to the closing with a lawyer and the sellers and the lawyer and the title company close and the bank attorney?
-
My reason is: cats.
-
The ducuments said no pets at all which was strange for us.
-
good morning Chas and FJL
Welcome to our early morning Chat show : "Differences Between Residential Sales Closings in NY and OR"
-
My reason is tooth
-
California is a no lawyer state or with both parties, at least it didn't use to be. I can't remember how Oregon is, but a lawyer isn't required.
-
VIBES that Jane and Keith find a new home to love
-
Lol Vixmim. Moving around only a few states required a lawyer.
-

so who drafts the contract of sale and the deed and transfer docs ?
-
Lol Vixmim. Moving around only a few states required a lawyer.
Wow - if I move out of state I will need to go into another line of work
-
Well at least Costco is nationwide
-
Not all require both parties at the same time. I don't remember if we had a lawyer in New Jersey. I remember the buyers were obnoxious and their agent met us in the parking lot with a bottle of champagne to thank us for getting them off her hands.
-
I didn't know you were a lawyer.
-
We still have to use a title company and sign a ton of paperwork.
-
It is difficult to type using my Nook, and even more difficult doing so under the covers.
-
Around here both parties have lawyers, the contact is usually 10 -12 tightly spaced legal sized pages, the buyer usually gets a house inspection, the lender sends an appraiser, then the title company does their searches and sends a representative out to conduct a survey inspection or hey have a surveyor prepare a new survey, the Lender has an attorney and there is often a Realtor or two and a mortgage broker and they ALL meet at the same time for the closing at which point the premises are expected to be delivered "vacant and broom clean"
-
I didn't know you were a lawyer.
I'm not but I am a real estate paralegal and I work for a lawyer
-
It is difficult to type using my Nook, and even more difficult doing so under the covers.
hiding from Keith?
-
DR Vixmom, you would still do all that work for us.
-
It is difficult to type using my Nook, and even more difficult doing so under the covers.
hiding from Keith?
Lol. Trying not to wake him with the light. Why should we both be awake.
-
Sometimes when I'm reading under the covers I don't hear him get up.
-
I didn't know you were a lawyer.
I'm not but I am a real estate paralegal and I work for a lawyer
All these years and I don't think I realized you were a paralegal.
-
One can still get a lawyer when buying a home if they feel the need for it.
-
VIBES that Jane and Keith find a new home to love
Thank you.
-
Molar vibes for DR VIXMOM.
After reading all the posts this morning, I feel qualified to go into real estate.
I've already learned to be a virtual librarian.

Yes congratulations are in order for DR CILLA LIZ....she should write about it here.

We have had all of this in a few states, MA for sure. This buyer did not ask for a surveyor or the report. They took our records instead of a welk and septic inspection, butthen our records are very detailed.
-
No bank as the buyers are paying with cash :)
-
Thanks for the Jeopardy report DR BEN. I am sorry to hear about Chris' loss, however he got rid of Kerry for us, so he is to be congratulated again.
Ugh....another annoying new champion, it seems. Oh well, I won't get to watch for a week, so we shall see what we shall see.
-
I enjoyed the PDQ Bach clip that DR CILLA LIZ posted last night.....
The poster for Sami's show is lovely!

I can't ever recall the bank at a closing, just the checks.

Although the entire show is actually a bit under two hours with intermission.

ah well that explains why it went so quickly- I fully expect bank underwriters to start asking for DNA samples soon

We also got our headshots taken.
do we get to see yours?
-
OK it is 9 AM time to call the dentist to see if I can be seen
-
Did you get an appointment? Was the dentist open today?
-
If it's worth being seen DR VIXMOM, I will post it here after we close....I will take it from the bulletin board.
-
No bank as the buyers are paying with cash :)

We got lucky on the cash part, plus they didn't have to sell their current home.
-
Good Morning! The HHW site was doing funny things the last few days (at least on my computer) when I would try to jump from the Notes to the Daily Discussions. Today, it all went smoothly, however, so here I am. And so, another Good Morning!
-
TOD:
Although gangster movies (along with Westerns) are my favorite film genre, I've never been much of a fan of their sub-genre, prison movies. Storywise, there is only so much you can do in a prison movie.
That said, I love the prison sequences in WHITE HEAT with Jimmy Cagney. Indeed, it's my favorite Cagney movie and the best gangster movie pre-THE GODFATHER.
-
Good morning, all! Last night, just by chance, I came upon some material I have been looking for since last Saturday, so that will occupy some of my morning. Then, I will go to City center, see Joshie, and help him prepare fr Tuesday's orchestra reading, which is at 10am.
Most of tomorrow will be Encores! work as well.
-
Hello DR KERRY.
-
Morning DR Kerry.
-
Did you get an appointment? Was the dentist open today?
No luck so far
I have four different dentists who say they'll call if they have an opening
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's a beautiful day here in SW Ohio and 2 signs of spring have appeared:
1) Richard started replacing the storm windows with screens and
2) The Jug, the burger jernt up the street from us, opens for the season today.
-
If it's worth being seen DR VIXMOM, I will post it here after we close....I will take it from the bulletin board.
I look forward to seeing it

And now, off to the tax office - last Saturday of this tax season!

-
Ah finally! A 12:30 appointment
-
Hope it all goes well, DR Vixmom!
-
Finally! Good news, DR vixmom. I'm surprised it took this long to get you in somewhere for that. Saturday morning, though. Good thing it didn't happen twenty-four hours later than it did!
-
Question for DR Elmore:
This is out of what I presume is the original published vocal score to ANNIE. (I never had one till last year when I found this at a library sale.)
(MTI provides a proper P/C score now.)
ANYHOO... I guess I'm brain-dead or just ignorant, but for that cue in bar 9 (played by piano), what the heck did "R.M.I." mean?
-
The RMI was a synthesizer of the early 1970s; it's in CANDIDE, COMPANY, FOLLIES, etc., doing thse cheesy organ sounds and, mst spectacularly, that jangling harpsichord sound in "Another Hundred People." The 1968 Rocksichord is used throughout the ZORBA score.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Mount_Instruments
-
Fantastic! Thank you!
-
Which of course is why it needs to sound a little different.
And that's the same instrument in COMPANY?? I just learned something good today. :)
-
Oh! And there's the ZORBA instrument! Do they by any chance have one for Encores! ?
-
Greetings from western New York!
-
My flight was right on time. I guess it's best to fly early in the morning.
-
Wow! Page 4 before noon Eastern time! BK will be so happy!

Finally! Good news, DR vixmom. I'm surprised it took this long to get you in somewhere for that. Saturday morning, though. Good thing it didn't happen twenty-four hours later than it did!
Well since this is a working class neighborhood Saturdays are at a premium, I could have had any number of appointments on Friday or monday
-
Hi Kevin, are you visiting Kate?
-
TOD:
My favorite prison movie is a made-for-TV movie called "Prison Stories: Women on the Inside" which was excellent for a TV movie. One of the stars is Annabella Sciorra, whom I really love and I've seen her in a gazillion things, but I never knew her name until now because I was just forced to look it up in order to write this post. She's one of the actresses that's immediately recognizable because she's done a gazillion things, but never really made it "big", so I think a lot of people don't know her name. Also in this movie is Rae Dawn Chong who hasn't been in nearly as many things, but everyone knows her name just because she's Tommy Chong's daughter.
-
Oh! And there's the ZORBA instrument! Do they by any chance have one for Encores! ?
I don't know what they are using for ZORBA; that not on my list of concerns with Joshie! That;s something for Karol and Rob to work out with the player.
-
Hello, everyone.
My goodness! Four pages already!
-
Tooth vibes to Vixmom. I suspect she'll need some $$ vibes, too.
-
FOUR local dentists who are open Saturdays? I don't know any here who are. But I've never really looked, either.
-
House-finding vibes to Jane and Keith. This is temporary housing or did you see someplace you think you'd like to stay?
-
Vixmom, as Jane said, real estate closings in California don't usually involve a lawyer. An escrow agent handles everything. My first experience with an escow agent went very smoothly and I think the agent was quite competent. In Virginia, closings were handled by a real estate attorney. Settlement was much as you described it: buyer, buyer's agent, seller, seller's agent, attorney, all convene at the seller's attorney's office to sign stacks of documents and finalize the transaction. I've never heard of a representative from the bank being there, though. Having been through both, I prefer having the attorney.
-
I just killed a pleasant half hour listening to RMI samples on YouTube. Some great sounds coming out of these things.
-
Several years ago, my three cousins and I sold a California property that we owned jointly. I was living in Virginia at the time and my three cousins all live in Houston. Getting my three cousins to agree on anything--indeed, to even SPEAK to one another--can be a challenge. But they asked me to take the lead, which I was happy to do. Miraculously, they all agreed and that end of things went smoothly. Closing was the nightmare. The escrow agent arbitrarily divided our proceeds into four equal parts--because they were four of us, I guess--completely disregarding the contract, which clearly stated that ownership was one-half mine and the other half to my three cousins. She even sent out four checks, all incorrect. We got it straightened out, but I don't think that would have happened with an attorney conducting the settlement.
-
Hi, Chas.
-
Toe vibes to Jane and Ginny.
Vibes for good health all around.
-
Did Cilla win the lottery?
-
I also rented back for a month after I sold my last house. The buyers were both tax attorneys who insisted on a VERY quick--three week?--settlement in order to close in that tax year. (It was December.) Even though I'd done extensive planning and preparation--getting rid of things, putting things in storage, etc--it was still a big undertaking to make arrangements so quickly, especially given the holidays. I truly hope I never have to do that again!
Given the uncertainty in real estate today, I suspect that this is becoming the norm. I doubt that many people want a sale contingent on the seller finding a home to buy or a buyer selling their home.
-
Sami's poster is quite cute. I think of Sami's show as a cabaret act. Are you calling it a new musical because so many of the songs are new? I never really thought about the differences between cabaret and a musical. Sami's the only singer/dancer/actor, yes?
-
Must take care of a few things.
TTFN.
-
I'm up, barely, after a rather ridiculous night of on and off sleep - maybe I got five hours overall. That damn spicy chicken breast did me in - just nauseous as can be for most of the evening.
-
Not to mention heartburn.
-
After the dealer comes I'm getting back in bed for a while.
-
People around here swear by Popeye's, at least as opposed to the Colonel's chicken, but I have yet to really give it a fair try. We don't have one around me in Connecticut, so I'd either have to eat some in NYC or find it on the road somewhere. Which is what I did, the one time I can truthfully recall having it. It was at a service plaza way out on the NY Thruway near Buffalo! Only had a piece or two, and honestly I guess it was okay but it just tasted like another piece of fast food fried chicken to me.
I'm quite sure it wasn't the spicy, though. :)
-
Hi Kevin, are you visiting Kate?
Yep! She says hi!

I like the woman who does the commercials for POPEYE'S CHICKEN. She is very personable.
Interesting about the ANNIE notation from DR ELMORE. I can hardly wait until I see that in a score, and I can show something more than my ignorance.
-
Well it turns out I broke two teeth the top one opposing the molar I knew of also is missing a bit. The bottom one was fixed and the top one will be addressed next Saturday
-
I have no idea what the bill will be because they don't take our insurance but we'll figure it out somehow
-
Yeow! How did you do that in the first place?
Oh no. Wait a minute. Did this happen while you were doing our favorite thing? --- EATING??
-
Dealer came, I did some banking, then went back to bed and slept another ninety minutes. Guess I'll try to eat a little something mild, like scrambled or poached eggs.
-
Excellent vibes and xylophones for Jane and Keith.
-
Yeow! How did you do that in the first place?
Oh no. Wait a minute. Did this happen while you were doing our favorite thing? --- EATING??
Yes and it was just a piece of bacon and not all that terribly well done either. But ever since the radiation treatment my teeth have been bad. It's a trade off. ..great teeth in a corpse or lousy teeth in a live person; I opted for the latter

Whew! Back from a long day at the choral festival. Sang, and saw and heard a lot of other groups today, too. I had a solo in Russian.

Thanks Vixmom. For those who aren't on FB I was invited to join the Nat'l Assn of Distinguished Counsel. It's an invitation only group that recognizes who they consider the top 1 percent of lawyers. It's easier to post a link then to explain

We don't use title companies in Iowa, lawyers do title opinions. I used to do them when I lived in the lakes area where property changes hand often

I love the original Danish version of The Killing, of which the American version is a pale copy, in my opinion.
-
House-finding vibes to Jane and Keith. This is temporary housing or did you see someplace you think you'd like to stay?
Someplace we might like to stay. Thank you for the vibes.
-
I saw the American version. I found it interesting. Not a absolute favorite, but better than many. I liked the ending, too--a surprise and a pleasing one.
-
Congrats to Cilla on joining the 1%, even that it isn't the monetary kind. Perhaps that'll be next year.

Sometimes you need a lawyer. Sometimes they are just an extra expense. In MA the lawyer created a few difficulties when we sold.

Toe vibes to Jane and Ginny.
Vibes for good health all around.
Thanks. I just finished icing mine. I'm still walking but can only wear tennis shoes.

So, Vixmom, the dentist fixed your tooth without having to make a crown? That's great. I equate cracked teeth with new crowns and $$.
-
Well it turns out I broke two teeth the top one opposing the molar I knew of also is missing a bit. The bottom one was fixed and the top one will be addressed next Saturday
Ouch. I hope that doesn't mean you will lose the other tooth.

In my case I think an extra set of eyes might have caught the error.

I broke mine eating rice.

~ ~ ~ ALL SORTS OF EXTRA-STRENGTH TIMING AND LOGISTICS VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR Jane and DH Keith!!!

Bruce, Sami's show is a one-woman show, isn't it?
-
And I just heard that (former) DR Jed is here! I don't know if Ann is here, too. I'll see if I can find that out.
Did you find them?

One of the other cast members knows Jed and Ann (and is probably the reason that Jed is here) and didn't see her, so it's just him.
-
I didn't see Jed but I know where he is sitting. I did see my parents, so that's good. :D
-
I love the original Danish version of The Killing, of which the American version is a pale copy, in my opinion.
We are enjoying it so far. We will have to seek out the Danish version after we are done

I will!

Alright, it's time to go back to the show.
-
I won't have any more time to post.
-
We're having another cast party and the person hosting it lives several miles away, so I won't be home until very late.
-
Break a leg vibes for George & co
Ditto!

Tomorrow, we have our matinee and then I'm going downtown to help with the strike of "In a Dark, Dark House."

Bruce, Sami's show is a one-woman show, isn't it?
Indeed it is.
-
Finished with my viewing and having an interesting conversation via PM about the Sami show for both here and NY with a producer.
-
Goodness, I guess I wasn't needed tonight.
-
You are always needed, crazy person.
-
Almost three whole pages by six a.m.
-
We need someone to wake Jane up every morning at four in the morning!
-
Over 45,000 posts, and I didn't even notice when I reached that lofty number.
-
Today was the Puyaaup Valley Grand Floral Parade. It starts in Tacoma,
-
And then it travels thru three more small cities in the valley.
-
It used to be one of the top floal parades in America.
-
I don't know where it ranks now, but it has declined in importance.
-
I blame a lot of the decline on our one major newspaper.
-
When the paper was purchased years ago by an out-of-state newspaper syndicate, they decided that they didn't want to be a "Tacoma newspaper" any longer.
-
They wanted the paper to be a "South Sound" newspaper, that might still appeal to Seattle readers.
-
Anything that might be considered a Tacoma event, or a local story, was immediately shuttled to the back pages.
-
The Daffodil Festival was the biggest casualty of their efforts.
-
Stories about the Festival that had once been front page stories with photographs, were suddenly relegated to the back pages of the local section.
-
It was very sad to watch the whole Festival go downhill.
-
Well, I had better stop for now. I need to run out and get a half-dozen spicy chicken breasts to go with my scrambled eggs in the morning.
-
Sweet dreams to one and all.
G'night!

Was suddenly interested to see if I was right about how much music is in the Sami show in terms of time, and I was just about perfect in my prediction. I predicted forty-five minutes and it clocked in at forty-four, but will probably be a bit longer than that once I actually stage and add vamps and transitions. Now I'm curious about how long the monologues will run and maybe I'll now read through those - I suspect somewhere around twenty to twenty five minutes, but we're still missing a few, because we'll have to have at least thirty-five minutes of them to have the show run eighty minutes, which is my desired run time.
