Well, you've read the notes, the notes found the Collier's cover, and now it is time for you to post until the Collier's cows come home.

Well, this is amusing.

One weather site says it's 78 now, and today's high will be 76.

The other says it's 77, and today's high will be 73.

As it happens, any of those will be fine with me, as I have a matinee and that should be a comfortable range in which to be at the keyboard.

Of course, watch it end up being something completely different...

So, a matinee this afternoon and the Tonys tonight.  A fine day.  Sadly, I will very likely not be able to participate in the par-tay here, as I'm watching with other people at someone else's house.  I will only have the iPad, and participating on that would be well nigh impossible.  But I will try to check in.

Sad day to wake up to.

Mass shooting in Orlando, Florida. Right now 20 dead and 42 injured so far.

Didn't now that anything over 60 victims is considered terrorism.

It's the going to be gun issues on the news for the next few days. Who is was. Why.

The Collier's issue is September 2, 1939 - this artist did quite a few covers for them.  In the grand days when I had a hell of a collection, I had about four other Collier's covers.  I'll see if I can find them online.

I do not understand the goddamned post office!  They usually leave packages by the post boxes in our lobby.  I just got an Amazon notice that a delivery attempt was made and there was no one home.  I have been here all day and no one's rung my apartment. WTF?

I'm sitting here like so much fish watching a "live" auction on the Internet - a bit animation art auction - the main part was yesterday, which I missed, but apparently animation collectors are out of their cotton pickin' minds - the prices were astronomical.  Today's is the less expensive stuff and even that there are crazy online bidders who can't just let anything go reasonably, they bid it all up, THEN let it go.  Part of that could be shill bidding, of course.

BK, nice story about the Collier's cover art.

For years I've been clipping book-related art from magazines and finally used one for the collage class I just completed.  Our theme for week 2 was hobbies and leisure time, so, naturally, I did books and reading.  Here is view 1 of my collage using a 1982 New Yorker cover:

Good evening. Not watching the Tony Awards. I'll see the clips on youtube later, I'm sure.

I know the world is raving about Hamilton; I honestly think I wouldn't care for it. I endured his last show.

I've been watching a bootleg of Bright Star tonight (of the original production before it went to Broadway), and with about 20 minutes left, I have to say that I cried at least twice. Carmen Cusack is incredible. THe score even more delightful and moving in context than on the recording.

I'm becoming more fascinated by the minute with Bright Star.

Way back in the day, during World War II, Lady in the Dark featured a woman magazine editor who was good at her job, but she gives it up to be a wife.

In this show, set right after the war, the woman magazine editor is good at her job and she gets the man of her dreams, but she doesn't have to give up the job. It's not even a question.

That's correct.  They had casts of current shows perform outside for people on the street, but they sang songs fom other shows, not their own.
