I am thankful today for all of you. And to bk, for making a home for us.
I didn’t mean you should drive over to Portland just for donuts. However, if you were going over for a meal, to catch up with friends, or perhaps shopping (tax free) you could swing by Voodoo, and see if there is a crowd.

Her grandson had changed his phone number and didn't tell her. When she texted him about Thanksgiving dinner, the text went to a teen stranger. She invited him for dinner anyway, and they've been doing it ever since.
Maybe I should send some texts to random numbers.

The DH and I will be on the road this morning, headed to the south of the state to spend Thanksgiving with the DH's mother in her assisted living residence. We'll be there at a hotel overnight, returning home tomorrow night. It is quite cold, but no snow is predicted.
I should videotape my assembly of a Cherpumple this New Year's Eve.
Great news, Jane!
The turkey is in the oven, the parade is on, and I have just enjoyed an apple cider donut with my first cup of joe.
I’m going to have a dance practice this morning. Some time later I will make a mushroom tart with puff pastry and have with a salad of things largely from the garden.
BK mentioned Hawaiian dinner rolls. I don't know from Hawaiian dinner rolls, but we do have the King's Hawaiian package brand here if that counts. We also have a package of Kerrygold butter I splurged on. That's pricey compared to the everyday stuff. But SO good. Someone told me there are even better ones in that category, but they aren't readily available here in our stores.
DR Jrand71, I think it's wrong to laugh at funerals, but . . .
No DR ELMORE - laughter is the best medicine.
And someday I will laugh myself.
DR JANE you are correct I will be submitting my billable hours to the estate to be compensated for my time.
I am not sure what the rate is - but it's something.
Oh and BTW - Sue is excluded from any inheritance and that statement is included in the will. I am not sure that she knows that.....
But when all the heirs get a copy of the will and the names of the executors - my sister and I - in a few weeks.....she will know.
Joy invited me to a Thanksgiving lunch with her family. It was at a noodle shop. I had a lamb soup with plenty of handmade rice noodles. Excellent and plenty of leftovers.
TOD: This morning I will pick up Wae-Ling so she can fix the turkey. It's her favorite holiday, and the best part (according to her) is sticking your hands inside the turkey to get the giblets.
We'll see who shows up for dinner.

I'm up, I'm up - I think eight hours of sleep - hard to tell anymore. I managed four hours, got up to use the loo and noticed the clocks were flashing - apparently, just after I got in bed at three, the power went out - great. It was VERY windy - not so much here but near here. In the City of Studio power lines snapped, although that didn't affect us. Seems to be calmer now. Interestingly, the computer restarted itself, but after I put in my password it had to reload and that took five or six minutes. So, then I reset the clocks and I got back into bed around nine-fifteen and fell asleep a bit after that and woke up at one.
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
Yes I always carry peppermints.
Good medical news for Jane!
Around 3:00, when I went to feed the cats, my blood sugar dropped. It was terrifying. I thought I was going to collapse on the kitchen floor. I opened the refrigerator, grabbed a Reese cup, and devoured it. I;m feeling back to normal now. The last time this happened was about four years ago at the bus stop at 57th Street and Eighth Avenue as I waited for the bus. A kind lady gave me a peppermiont candy. After that I always carried a bag of peppermint candy in my travel bag.
Finishing up Michael Connelly's latest, The Dark Hours. The crux of the mystery is interesting, but it doesn't really get going until about 70% into it. And there is one compelling scene involving an emergency tracheotomy. Plus, I enjoyed something set in December 2020 and January 2021, with full pandemic and storming of the Capitol. But sadly, 70% of the book is too perfunctory, too half-hearted, too lazy.

Thanksgiving evening greetings! My inner Cherry Ames was joined today by my inner Martha Stewart as we hosted a holiday feast with my sister and her husband and Richard’s brother and his wife. Richard and I are both beyond tired, but we have a fridge full of fabulous leftovers.Let's hear it for leftovers.

Nice. Is Richard able to walk ok?
I hate itching. In this case I hope it means the burn is healing.
I only got to watch part of the video. I don't decorate cakes. I probably should learn a little bit about it. I usually just plop the cake batter into a bundt pan and call it a day.
I have only piped royal icing. I get it everywhere. I am very messy.
An hour into Just a Gigolo and the apparently ageless Marlene Dietrich shows up. She's behind a veil and the lens is designed to make her look even younger. It's not entirely successful, but she may be the best thing about this really strange movie.

DR George maybe if the drive from you to Portland were prettier your niece would do it just for the donuts :)

This wonderful story seems to now be a traditional Thanksgiving story and I love seeing how their relationship has grown.

Kings is what I think of as Hawaiian bread.

We began the day with a nice long video chat with Craig and his Kitty.

I just realized I also bought a package of King's Hawaiian roles because they were stacked high and deep at WalMart on Tuesday....
Not sure what I will do with them - well eat them of course - but the details are sketchy.
