Well, you've read the notes, the notes did not take eleven hours to write, and now it is time for you to post until the eleventh hour cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYHISTOR!
-
Is the movie "Polyester" part of polyhistory?
-
I can assure everyone that I have seen nothing new since yesterday...other than the ice cream bar I hungered for when I woke up 10 minutes ago.
And now, sated, I shall return to dreamland.
-
Am up again. Possibly for the day. We shall see.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I will await DR Ron Pulliam's report on his morning bun.
-
Perhaps, topped with ice cream.
-
Or perhaps not.
-
Sending ~~~VIBES~~~, though, for your Rob.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Sending ~~~VIBES~~~, though, for your Rob.
Ditto!
-
It was a hell of a lousy night. I could not get to sleep, and I am very lethargic this morning. I am cancelling my appointment today and stating home.
-
DR TCB, I wish you'd post occasional photos of Buddy and Sasha.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, I wrote a story about Annabelle's Halloween plans to creat a House of Horrors and fill it with cucumbers to terrify our neighbors.

-
DR George, how are you feeling today?
-
I will await DR Ron Pulliam's report on his morning bun.
I ain't got no morning buns, dagnabbit.
The best I could do, I suppose, is a Beignet or some toast.
-
Since 2017, I've read a lot of books about cats. I just finished the wonderful Love Saves the Day, which has the most delightful and heartbreaking kitty narrators, Prudence.
I also enjoyed:
Cleveland Amory's three books about his white cat Polar Bear, beginning with The Cat Who Came For Christmas
James Bowen's three books about Bob the Street Cat
Dewey the Library Cat
The Young Adult novel The Incredible Journey and the original Disney film, not the remake with the animals talking to each other.

I think you should have sliced up all those cucumbers and made small packs of eye compresses. Imagine the fun of handing them out as trick-or-treat surprises.
-
DR Larry Moore: My mom gave me a Christmas gift of a books subscription when I first started reading. Among the books was one called "This Cat Came to Stay".
I recall loving that book.
-
Or perhaps not.
Definitely "not". Actually, I seldom breakfast any more. It's coffee for me.
-
Good morning, all.

TCB - About your joke that an interview between Patti LuPone and ALW would be something to see!
I'd recalled this, and she actually used the word detente. But what undid the detente?
Jan. 2018 - Patti LuPone and ALW hugging and Patti saying "This is detente, ladies and gentlemen."

Ron - Not to be graphic, which means I'm about to be graphic -
But don't you find having coffee without any solid food on an empty stomach kind of makes your poop all splashy?
(That was a way of avoiding saying diarrhea, but I guess no reason not to just say it.)
-
John G - Have you ever met John Archibald from castrecl?
He also doubled as Santa and the mean boss - which on Broadway were two totally separate roles.
-
On Broadway and at Madison Square Garden, Santa seemed to be a role given to a beloved "name" actor who could draw like George Wendt who had been Norm on Cheers, and another time, Wayne Knight who had played Newman on Seinfeld.
-
I was surprised reading in John Archibald's bio how MANY plays he'd been in, and he just as it happened had never before this been offered an Equity job in a musical [before he had turned to a career in being a home medical helper]. The combining of the roles had a nice effect that at the curtain call, we never had that "should we boo the villain" moment for the mean boss (or is the boss just wacko?), since John took his bow as Santa.
He seemed to really enjoy posing for pictures with kids - and some adults who asked - as Santa after the show.
One of the show's costuming secrets was that he kept his mean boss outfit on under the Santa suit, and it became part of the padding since John is not really heavy at all. One quick change looks like it had to be a trick, but he said they're all geared up for that change. (the day I saw it, though, they forgot to hand him a prop really needed for his scene as Santa - but of course they got it to him, or the scene wouldn't have gone on :) )
-
And bringing this full circle - in the movie "Elf" that character of the mean (or maybe wacko) boss is played by Peter Dinklage.
-
I will await DR Ron Pulliam's report on his morning bun.
I swear, maybe it's age, but "morning bun" reads to me like a possible double entendre.
-
So, is it still acceptable for Hanukkah if you use an air fryer?
-
It wasn't intended that way, but it certainly could be, DR Freddie. ;D
-
Good question, DR John G. I would love a latke! No potatoes in the house presently, alas.
-
It really wasn't that long ago [that was holiday season 2019, three months before covid] where just getting on a plane, at least on a 2-1/2 hour flight on the East coast, to see someone in a show was just an easy and pretty inexpensive part of life.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Just back from running a few Monday morning errands. Hopefully, I'm in for the rest of the day.
-
And tomorrow.
And Wednesday.
And Thursday, until our piano brush-up that evening.
-
I remember (a long time ago) a day when bk had us all don wax lips and a fez.
-
Good question, DR John G. I would love a latke! No potatoes in the house presently, alas.
singdaw, is home delivery like postmates and Ubereats not as big a thing in your area as it in in New York?
-
don wax lips and a fez.
Is that don we now our "goy" apparel?
-
I remember (a long time ago) a day when bk had us all don wax lips and a fez.
I never acquired the lips, but the fez lives on in this corner.
-
Jrand - Thanks for that - so that's you at 22, so a wide range of ages among siblings. It feels like that's turned out to be a beautiful thing in your family.
-
Ron - Not to be graphic, which means I'm about to be graphic -
But don't you find having coffee without any solid food on an empty stomach kind of makes your poop all splashy?
(That was a way of avoiding saying diarrhea, but I guess no reason not to just say it.)
Actually, my wake-up time has normally been 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. I suppose you could say I eat a late breakfast at the lunch hour. I have coffee but don't want to spoil lunch which is usually an hour or two away.
Lately, however....the past week actually...I have been waking up by 6:30 a.m. I don't know why. So, I have been eating a couple of slices of toast or a bagel.
It works well enough.
As for that delicate "condition" to which you alluded -- the Hershey squirts, as it were -- I haven't experienced it as an after-effect of no breakfast. Not yet.
Hopefully never.

The John Archibald of your acquaintance must be a different John Archibald of my acquaintance. My John Archibald does live in Florida...St. Petersburg, I believe. He moved there from San Diego a few years ago. He is, and has been most of his life, involved in theater...but on a community level I think.
-
;)
-
;) ;)
-
Excellent. Both of those.

This is pertinent to cat lovers:
-
Good morning.
-
From John:
It's very darkly funny.
Thanks.
-
DR Ron, vibes for your cousin Debra and your family.
-
Ron that is funny about cats and cucumbers. Of all the cats I have had, I can't recall any having an issue with a single food. I do like cucumbers and am sure the cats saw them :)
-
Thank you Vixmom.
-
John, I hope your mother's Springerle recipe comes out the way your mother made them.
-
LOL Buddy, what a strange & funny cat.
-
I can assure everyone that I have seen nothing new since yesterday...other than the ice cream bar I hungered for when I woke up 10 minutes ago.

I would say yes.

Good question, DR John G. I would love a latke! No potatoes in the house presently, alas.
I’ve made latkes with any veg you can shred: radishes, beets, zucchini.
-
singdaw, is home delivery like postmates and Ubereats not as big a thing in your area as it in in New York?
Oh, I think it probably is. There is only one really authentic NY-style deli in Saint Paul. They have a $50 minimum order for delivery. That would be a lot of latkes!
-
THREE!!!
-
Is that don we now our "goy" apparel?
;D
-
John, I hope your mother's Springerle recipe comes out the way your mother made them.
It’s the distillation of what I hate about cookies. You may each one individually, then you have to let the dough sit overnight. If that’s not enough, you have to babysit them while they bake.
-
Lotte Lenya lent a lot of latkes.
-
Sounds pretty miserable, DR John G. 8)

They’re delicious, if you like anise, which I do.

Oh, I'm sure they are. I just meant the process of making them.

Bah Humbug.

Hubert Humboldt had a humbug.

Hey, it's a post.

Sorry you had to cancel your appointments, DR elmore3003.

Thanks. The one tomorrow is much more important, and I was moving so slowly this morning I couldn't get it together.

-
Ron that is funny about cats and cucumbers. Of all the cats I have had, I can't recall any having an issue with a single food. I do like cucumbers and am sure the cats saw them :)
I think they need to be put on the floor near the cat.

When they aren't looking.

That's him! I also visited him in August 2020 in St. Petersburg, met him in Tampa - while I was in Miami.
He worked as a home medical care worker in California for many years. This was an Equity contract here. A huge beautiful theater, which had a different name, but is now the Suncoast.
-
This was the review on Broadwayworld. The show felt huge, but that reminded me, there was expert use of projections.

Hershey squirts - actually SOUNDS like a candy you bite into and liquid squirts out. Like those old Cella's cherry cordials.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six and a half hours of sleep.
-
DR George, how are you feeling today?
I've been up for about an hour (I took today and tomorrow off because I have too much vacation time) and I feel pretty normal. The injection site is a little sore (very little), but otherwise everything seems okay.
-

That doesn't sound like fun. I expect they are worth the work. I hope they travel well.

I do. Keith wouldn't like them.
-
As a thank you a friend once made biscotti, with anise, for us. I lucked out and had them all to myself :)

DR Ron the flu vaccination takes a couple of weeks to work. You might have had the flu.

Four!

Thanks, Jane. Today will be some laundry-doing, and tomorrow, my mom and I are going to the casino to spend the $10 food voucher that I got from the last time my mom and I went.

We have a tempest in our 202 West 82 teapot. Late this morning a letter was slipped under my door. It was a list of infractions by our super Jeff and suggestions we all pull together for a rent strike until he's ousted and the building gets serious improvements made to it. There is some truth to some of the charges, but the form letter, which I suspect was slipped under every door, was unsigned. But there is an email address to join this rebellion, and it's the psycho on the fifth floor who made life miserable for tenants in 5E and 5F, and generally stirs up shit when he's sober. Then my neurotic neighbor Judy called me to ask if I'd read the letter and to tell me all my neighbors on the third floor were not giving Jeff a Christmas bonus. Would I give him a bonus? I told her it was none of her business.
-
Wow!
-
Good for you, DR elmore3003. You don't need any more drama!
-
Good for you, DR elmore3003. You don't need any more drama!
Well, in truth, DR Elmore3003 IS drama...he just doesn't need anyone else's.
-
I need to know where today has gone. I was up at 6:30 a.m. Had toast and some coffee. May have napped a bit. Got my mail (a catalog that went into the recycle bin), at a smoked turkey sammich. May have napped a bit more.
And now it's 5:21 p.m. (i am on east coast).
Time continues to slip away. Everything I thought I might get to today wasn't gotten to.
Shucks.
-
Sorry, Elmore. You don’t need this hassle before tomorrow.
-
I could do with a few less hassles myself.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Picked up packages, the lesser of the important envelopes (hopefully the more important one will come tomorrow) and had a Subway pastrami for food. It wasn't as good as Togo's but many less calories due to much less meat - I don't even think it was two ounces, frankly.
-
I really don't get why when you get a new back-up drive, which I had to do for the licensing folks for Nudie and Creature, why they don't work out of the box - you have to format them, only it doesn't say anything about that or have instructions. I had to search it on Google, which led me to a YouTube video - from there it was easy, but why? So, just waiting on the Creature stuff, which will hopefully be here by the end of the week and then this will get Fed Exed to them.

Arlene Dahl has died at 96.
-
Apparently the new West Side Story soundtrack (yes, soundtrack) from the forthcoming film will be released on December 3.

Arlene Dahl has died at 96.
96, wow. :(

I have my book discussion group in a little bit. I hope I wasn't the only one who made to the end of the novel.
-
I have my book discussion group in a little bit. I hope I wasn't the only one who made to the end of the novel.
And the book is?
-
While I was watching something, my computer decided to restart - saying it do so because of a "problem" but not identifying the problem. Certainly, I see no signs of a power issue, since everything else is working fine. So, everything had to load again, including the documents I was working on - all "saved" thankfully. Irritating.
-
I'm heading to bed.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I have my book discussion group in a little bit. I hope I wasn't the only one who made to the end of the novel.
And the book is?
A Sudden Country by Karen Fisher. I don't recommend it, however, we had an excellent discussion.
-
'night
-
Did quite a bit of writing. Now I'll try to watch something.
-
Have been watching all the Poirot and Miss Marple TV shows on BritBox. I have them all on Blu ray discs, but they are in storage and have been since October 2017 when my household goods arrived from California.
-
It is now MY bedtime...it's 11:08 p.m.
-
Good night, Ron.
-
Dancing was not fun tonight. Well, it was fun. But it went on for hours.
-
And then someone left her cellphone, which I noticed just as we were closing up.
-
That added another half hour.
-
Five!
-
Got word today that the assisted living facility Mom's at is being sold to a group out of Tennessee. I have no idea what this means yet.
-
But I think I've had enough of today. Time for bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
George to answer your question from yesterday, yes everyone was there in person
Even me
-
I can’t get the photo to post
-
Arlene Dahl has died at 96.
96, wow. :(
Wow is right!
-
And then someone left her cellphone, which I noticed just as we were closing up.

Oh, my! I have definitely gotten into the habit of checking where my phone is.
-
George to answer your question from yesterday, yes everyone was there in person
Even me
Cool!
-
So last week, a package arrived for me at work (because that's where I had it sent) from Broadway Records.
-
I had ordered four recordings, including Randy Rainbow's A Little Brains, A Little Talent (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/solo-artists/randy-rainbow-a-little-brain-a-little-talent-cd) and Burt Bacharach and Steven Sater's Some Lovers (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/concept-albums/some-lovers-world-premiere-recording).
-
I brought the package home with me last week before the Thanksgiving holiday, and evidently I set it down and totally forgot about it because I just found it about a half hour ago! :o
-
Unopened! ::)
-
SPOO!!
-
Anyway, the package has been found and opened. :)
-
Earlier today (and this didn't even remind me of the forgotten missing package ::) ), I got a message through my work Teams app from one of the mail clerks letting me know that another package has arrived for me.
-
It'll have to wait until Wednesday since I have tomorrow off, too...unless I decide to go into work just to pick it up.
-
I live only a mile away, so it's not really out of the way, at all for me to go there.
-
I'll just wait.
-
Tomorrow, my mom and I are going to the casino, so that'll take up a big chunk of the evening.
-
The other two CDs that I got (in case anyone was dying of curiosity) were Marguerite (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/offbroadway/marguerite-original-cast-recording), starring Cady Huffman and In the Light: A Faustian Tale (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/concept-albums/in-the-light-highlights-from-the-world-premiere-studio-cast-recording-cd).
-
I really don't know why I got those last two, other than I like Cady Huffman and they were both on sale.
-
Listening to music - didn't really watch much - not in the mood. But it was a very good writing day.
-
When I went to Broadway Records' website (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/) to get the links, I saw that Sondheim Unplugged - The NYC Sessions Volume 1 (https://www.broadwayrecords.com/composers/sondheim-unplugged-the-nyc-sessions-volume-1) was sold out! :o
-
What?? SOLD OUT??
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Went to Gelson's and got stuff for the next couple of days. Tomorrow will most likely be sandwiches. For this evening's snack it was a small thing of chopped liver and a little piece of noodle kugel.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Was it a limited edition like Kritzerland's releases?? I couldn't see anything that said that, but FORTUNATELY, I was able to buy it from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09JGNX1VZ/)!
-
And then I wrote...

Hey! I just noticed that the Music Direction and Piano are by Joseph Goodrich. He and I went to high school together! He was a freshman when I was a senior, then we went to Western Washington University for a year at the same time, also!
