Well, you've read the notes, the notes were submitted, and now it is time for you to post until the submitted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COGNOSCENTI!
-
Welcome forty-nine GUESTS. Did any of you submit?
-
Good morning, friends.
-
:)
-
Time is flying - where did August go?
-
For that matter, where is this week going? We're already half way through.
-
September to December is my favorite slice of the year.
-
So much to look forward to.
-
Sorry to hear that you are still hurting, DR TCB.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am so happy to see the end of this wretched month, although I don't know that September will see any improvement in my pathetic existence.
-
My left leg, which was until about two weeks ago my stronger leg developed what seemed to be a charlie horse in the calf. Not long after that, trying to rise off the fllor, I felt terrible pains in the bottom of my foot, just under the arch. Since then my left leg has become more decrepit. Tomorrow I am supposed to see my podiatrist, so IO'm hoping we can discuss this problem.
-
I had a rotten time getting to sleep last night6 because of all the current issues with my left leg and foot. I finally fell asleep with Annabelle and Thatch some time after 9:45, woke up around midnight, had a problem getting back to sleep, When I finally did, I slept very well until around 4:30. IO spent the last hourt before the alarm rang trying to find a comfortable position for my leg.,
-
I am surprised that I am not tired. I suspect I will want a nap around 11:00 this morning.
-
There's been no word from the UK about the Overture, so I will work on the Interlude today.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, I send my sympathies to you over your mother's passing.
-
DR JohnG, thanks for that Jessie Green article. I have begun "Shy," but the print is a little too small for my eyes at the moment.
-
Next week I see the cataract doctor. It cannot come soon enough.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t remember ever hearing about that movie. I wonder what theater that double feature might have played in in Hollywood.

Pain free vibes for Elmore and TCB

I’ve been so tired lately I keep falling asleep

Tonight and tomorrow night Vixdad and I are going to see Blondie
-
The first show was originally scheduled for April, but was postponed due to a last minute band member substitution, so now they ended up two nights in a row
-
Fortunately the venue is quite close to our home
-
Good morning, all.
-
Enjoy the show, Vixmom. I love Blondie. And of course, Deborah Harry was the original Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray.
-
Two!

Today is the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana and the 25 anniversary of my of my biggest disasters in my string of failures.
-
In September 1997, Ian Marshall Fisher's seres of musicals in concert, Lost Musicals, was going to produce my reconstruction of Jubilee, which they had been advertising as "the Princess DianazM usical," since Diana is the name of the Princess in the musical.
I do not know two things: if the cast were the same as the 1999 production with the BBC Concert Orchestra or if that 1997 production was to be with piano or orchestra. What I do know is that, after the performance run, the cast was going to Abbey Road where John Yap was going to record the complete score, including all music not performed in the concerts.
-
The Cole Porter Trust had supplied me with two air tickets to London and the performances, and on August 31 John Yap was in negotiation to cast Brent Barrett as Mowgli, the Johnny Weismuller parody.
Kim Criswell as cast as Karen O'Kane, the Ginger Rogers parody. I called Brent and begged him to take thew role.
And then the news about the death in Paris of Princess Diana and the production was cancelled. I was in Footlight Records where I rean into a friend - I no longer remember who it was - who asked me how I was. I said, Terrible. Princess Diana died and took my career with her.
-
Wow. I did not know any of that, DR elmore3003.
-
By 1999. the two crazy Brits Ian Marshall Fisher and John Yap were no longer on amiable terms and thus ended the only opportunity so far to get a complete recording of Jubilee made. In 2013, before I recorded Roberta, the head of rthe foundation asked about recording Jubilee, which I wish now we had done, instead of the Kern show. My thought was we should do Roberta, see how Rob Berman and the orchestra worked together, and then plan for a larger cast for Jubilee. And the foundfation went belly up.
-
Wow. I did not know any of that, DR elmore3003.
I've never said much about this depressing debacle before.
-
Hugs, Elmore.
-
If I ever win the lottery, a recording of Jubilee is my first project.
-
So, this air pilot dresses his kitten in uniform and brings it to work! I love it.

If I ever win the lottery, a recording of Jubilee is my first project.
I feel like that quote "I coulda been a contender."

What a story DR ELMORE.
Thanks for sharing......wow!
-
I declare these papers DECLASSIFED and that I am President!
So let it be written so let it be done.
-
DR JEANNE's posts last night reminded me that I have always wanted DJT to have a Lonesome Rhodes moment that destroys him.....but his followers are too enamored and locked into his madness that I fear nothing he could say or do would cause them to stop believing in the BS.
-
Survive the H E A T vibes for the HHW'ers on the left coast.
-
I got all the pictures taken except two....and hopefully someone will do that for me tonight. The two said performers - being the professionals that they are - decided they weren't coming to rehearsal until 8 p.m. last night.....and I wasn't going to wait around for them....

From Variety:
Oh, bother. The first trailer for “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” has been released, revealing more of the slasher makeover of everyone’s favorite honey-obsessed bear.
The movie stars Craig David Dowsett and Chris Cordell as Winnie and his best friend Piglet, who go on a rampage after Christopher Robin (Nikolai Leon) abandons them for college. Without the influence of their human friend, the two turn feral, seeking prey and stalking the humans near their homes. The trailer showcases the characters on their rampage, revealing more of the twisted interpretation of A.A. Milne’s beloved characters.

Sad that a couple of Virginians were suing to have Barnes and Noble stop selling books they didn’t like. If that were the case, there would be a wealth of books I didn’t like and would then want to see banned.

The newest Cormoran Strike book, The Ink Black Heart, by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a. JK Rowling) has just arrived at my work!

I have a hold on the Kindle edition at three different libraries. ::)

One is supposed to only take 3 weeks. Another is as much as 12 weeks...and the third is estimated at 6 months! :o

That librarian cartoon book that DR John G. mentioned looks quite appealing.

I still love the Harry Potter book franchise, but I have soured somewhat on the author after her very public anti-trans campaign.

There is a new edition of Ted Chapin's Everything Was Possible (with some added material) about the creation of Follies. The audio book is narrated by Jonathan Groff.
-
Also, you can't get the hard copy of Mary Rodgers's book (sold out) for quite some time, if you don't have it already, but the Kindle version became available yesterday.

Too hot to do much in the garage right now. But I did throw out some stuff.

Tonight's rehearsal just got cancelled.
Our absolutely adorable gal playing Carrie is the one whose car blew a [something] which caused a tire to blow out and she careened off the road a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fixable, and she's felt fine except for just little bouts of neck soreness. Said soreness just reappeared last night, keeping her awake all night, and since we were only working on Carrie and Margaret White's scenes tonight (and they are both wonderful fast learners), we can afford to miss this one.
I only hope she's getting the expert medical attention she needs to completely heal this thing. Whiplash is insidious, in how it so often doesn't even show up till way after the fact. So while we pray for Rosemary's baby for DR Ginny, I will welcome some vibes for Carrie who mustn't be late for the prom.
-
Mind you, I don't mind the cancelled rehearsal. I can really use the quiet evening at home. I just want her to be well.
-
:)
LOL!
-
DR Elmore, thank you for posting the Jubilee story in detail.
What an incredible series of events. It's so hard, first of all, to believe that Diana's death was a quarter of a century ago (did I really just type that?), but how it affected your entire project, and all those other people, is just mind boggling.
(Not to mention, Gorbachev's death yesterday, and this anniversary today, are resonating like crazy.)
I do hope DR John G.'s lottery winnings come home soon. I think we've been waiting damned long enough.
-
;)
PERFECT.
-
There is that. :-\
It does raise an interesting question, though, about to what degree one is able or willing to separate an artist (and accompanying baggage) from their art.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Vibes of comfort and coping to DR Ron.
-
Pain-begone vibes to TCB, Elmore, and anyone else needing them.
BTW, I recently learned of a new naturopathic pain reliever. Once I try it out I'll report on it, in case anyone wants to try it (or not).
-
Elmore, I hope your podiatry visit is productive and it results in less pain and more comfort.
-

I would say that the two are intertwined, but most of us don't see it.

93 degrees here today. I went to Trader Joe's, then the salad bar, to stock up because the next several days are forecast at 98-99. I don't do well in the heat -- can't eat much and have all the energy of a wet rag. I will stay in as much as possible.
-
Vibes to Chas' Carrie.
-
I recommend acupuncture.

Off to Wordle.
TTFN.
-
Those of you in L.A.:
Is this heat a result of a Santa Ana, or something else?
I always remember the Santa Anas around this time of year, and the over-100 degree days they can produce. But (and I know it's always a joke, but I do mean it) at least it was a DRY heat. :)
-
We had a heat wave in one of my first summers in Danbury. It reached 105 or so, something this area rarely sees. What was weird about that one is that I recognized the feel of it -- there was very low humidity, for whatever reason, and it felt exactly like one of those days in L.A. Exactly. And I don't think there's been one like it here since.
-
I do remember when I was living at the beach, in Redondo, and the apartments had no a/c -- you'd get one week sometime in August that would make you wish you had the a/c, and I believe that was from Pacific Ocean weather, not Santa Anas, because there was actually some humidity.
The Santa Anas themselves were actually rather delightful if you lived near the beach.
Ah, I do miss it.

I wore my most comfortable, coolest blouse today. It felt good walking in the 92 degrees temps this afternoon. Most of our walk is in the shade.
-
I'm up, I'm up - got up at two after eight hours of sleep. Too much in the cranium.
-
Have caught up, we've asked for self-tapes on twelve people who are up for the one remaining series regular - great part, all ten episodes. We've chosen twelve so far, and if those don't do it, we'll go back and choose more.
-
I'm doing salads and protein for the next two weeks. Period. No discussion.
-
Condolences to dear reader Ron Pulliam.
-
Casting vibes for MR BK.
-
Ceiling vibes for DR GINNY.
-
Heat wave.....I certainly certainly CER-TAIN-LY can.....
-
I don't know how I forgot DARLING in my Dirk Bogarde list yesterday.
And I also didn't comment on the movie that MR BK mentioned in the notes....CAST A DARK SHADOW.....what potboiler! Based on a play that must have been something onstage....and the comeuppance is most spectacular.
Bogarde seems to be channeling his inner twink in dealing with the older ladies, reading muscle man magazines while waiting for his next victim.....can murder be far behind? Is there a character pretending to be someone else behind the mask? Is there ANY behind in this movie? Well....not really - but it is fun in a bargain basement way.....and Mr Bogarde appears courtesy of The Rank Organisation - I think.
-
Listening to Serena Williams' match at the U.S. Open....it is on across the hall.....it is a bit much...but she seems pretty level headed for a someone who has been a champion for a long time - and certainly must be surround by folks on the payroll who remind her of her greatness several times a day.
-
The only thing that would have made CAST A DARK SHADOW even more fun is if Margaret Lockwood had said to Dirk Bogarde the line that he said so well.....many years later in DARLING:
I don't take whores in taxis.
-
'night

Serena Williams wins. Good news.
-
So right now, I'm at the call-backs for the Evergreen Playhouse's Tuck Everlasting.
-
Yesterday, I got a message asking if I would consider going to the call-backs to be considered for a couple of roles.
-
The show doesn't go up until May, so it won't interfere with A Murder is Announced.
-
A few people who were in Mamma Mia! are here too, so that's fun. :)
-
That’s great, George.
-
Six!
-
Great news, DR George! A surfeit of theatrical riches.
-
Serena Williams wins. Good news.
And Sarah Palin loses. Also good news.
-
I have been watching the documentary about the Spring Awakening reunion concert.
-
Good night, friends.

Indeed. A double whammy.
-
Love on the Dole is terribly depressing.

That’s great, George.
Thanks, John!

Thanks, Singdaw! At least, this won't be right after the play that starts rehearsals next week!

Halle-freakin'-looya!! ;D
-
The end of Love on the Dole is shocking to me, 70 years after it was made.
In the end, Deborah Kerr becomes a prostitute to help her family and she's proud of it, glad she can do something. Very different.
-
Good night, all.
-
I’d love to be writing some notes but the power went out ten minutes ago so nothing to be done until it comes back on. Hopefully that will be soon
-
According to the dwp we won’t have power until six thirty. They’re real sorry for the inconvenience
-
So right now, I'm at the call-backs for the Evergreen Playhouse's Tuck Everlasting.
I didn’t know you wanted to do two shows.

Too many A/C’s knocking out the power?

I got my computer locked up this morning by a scammer claiming to be from Microsoft Virus Protection. I tried and tried to figure out a way to over run the scam, but they had me locked up good (make that bad).
-
Finally I remembered that I had internet access on my cell phone. I contacted the real Microsoft, who snuck in the back door and elimiNated the scammers.
-
Thank goodness.

I didn't, either...potentially two shows and I didn't even participate in their general auditions!

Whew!

I was getting so frustrated that I almost called the scammer, but I thought better of that idea.

Brief notes are up until power is restored.

The call-backs for Tuck Everlasting tonight went pretty well.

Good night.

No one read for the father, so I assume that a decision has already been made for that role.

Good night.
Good night, Tom.

They had me read for Constable Joe and Man in the Yellow Suit.

There was no other adult male there tonight. :-\
