Well, you've read the notes, the notes revisited, and now it is time for you to post until the revisited cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INGRATIATING!
-
Being ingratiating can be helpful, but being an ingrate is bad. Why?
-
I always liked that the Kenward Elmslie album is only “Visited.”

For the true obscurists, I think one of the last (and strangest) things Bagley put out on vinyl was this Elmslie thing called The Palais Bimbo Lounge Show. It came with a booklet of lyrics. Absolutely bizarre, inscrutable, and almost nothing about it online.

Good morning, friends.
-
Great to see DR TCB last night.
-
~~~CONTINUED VIBES~~~ for him, as always.
-
And, of course, ~~~VIBES, VIBES, VIBES~~~ for WFO!
-
That's three sets of vibes
-
For emphasis
-
With the emphasis on the latter.
-
Have you ever had emphasis?
-
I think there's a pill for that.
-
But if your emphasis persists for more than four hours,
Contact your doctor.
Good morning, all!
The alarm rang at 5:30. I turned it off, cuddled with Annabelle under the blankets, and fell asleep. I had some weird dream about being locked in a school - looked a lot like my high school around 1964 and my junior high school around 1960 - for staying too late to work on something.
-
Today is another ballet day, although I must put together the laundry for tomorrow or Sunday.
-
DR TCB, it was so good to see you!
-
DR vixmom, thanks for the DR WFO updates. Let's get him home!
-
DR ChasSmith, that fillet of sole sandwich was quite a success. I'm thinking about ordering another tonight. Or tomorrow.
-
I only remember two Twilight Zone episodes: Agnes Moorehead's and "To Serve Man."
I did not know Agnes Moorehead from Adam, but I loved her in that remake of The Bat, with Vincent Price, and she suddenly became one of my favorites, so I had to watch her in The Twilight Zone. From that point on, I watched regularly when I could.
;)
-
Good morning, all.
I like the likes of Vernon Duke.
I do too. One of my treasures purchases from BK’s last auction was an autographed copy of Duke’s Passport to Paris.
I refuse to believe today is the 24th of February. It's not possible.
Yesterday was just the 15th, it seems!
On the other hand, retirement funds will be deposited into my account.
There IS that!
-
Happy "Last Day of February", everyone!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two weird dreams -- but at least I can remember these two, unlike many during the past couple of weeks.
In the first, I was returning a loaner car to a dealership, and drove right through the wide doors into the showroom as I'd done before, where I expected whoever's desk I stopped in front of to be welcoming and attentive, but everyone totally ignored me. That went on for a while, then morphed into my feeling satisfied that I had sent an email to someone with all the information they'd need that went above and beyond covering the subject matter...
So, see what I mean? When I woke up I said the HELL with all of that, and got up.
What's that in reference to? I can't find her listed in any Twilight Zone episode. There was, however, an Alfred Hitchcock one. I'll have to take those off the shelf and watch that one.
-
So, it looks like we're going to get an actual snow at the beginning of next week, right at the end of February. A local forecaster says it's still too far ahead to predict with any accuracy, but his gut feeling says three to six.
It reminds me of the uproar in Ashland over The Taming of the Shrew and that the Shakespeare Festival should not preform it.
I dare not even think upon that whole thing. My brain would explode.
If only we lived in a world in which those new editions would be unceremoniously, unanimously, BOYCOTTED.
(Yeah, keep on dreaming.)
Just found this in my collection of slides, from when I shot slides instead of prints in the mid-late 1970s:
VOGUE RECORDS in Westwood, taken from the restaurant across the street that I'm thinking was called Yesterday's. (Can someone confirm or deny that? I might be conflating its name with another restaurant elsewhere.) What's going on down there on the street is an art show they'd have maybe a couple of times per year. Lots of arts and crafts stuff to buy, and I honestly don't remember if I ever brought home anything from it. But I might have other pictures taken during those shows, which may hopefully yield some more treasure.
The name of that restaurant was bugging me, so I tried a little research...and got lucky.
Here's a matchbook, with the address of the building I can sort of recognize on current Google street views: 1056 Westwood Blvd. It's a two-story building with a row of multi-pane doors opening onto what had been their little balcony.
DR Singdaw, I Googled 1056 Westwood Blvd. It is possible after all these years the lovely railing was replaced to the plain one in the photo. However, if I circle across the street, the buildings look different to me, and the street isn't as wide.
Had two filet-o-fish things from McDonald's. They didn't include the McDouble, so I got a credit for that. I will say the filet-o-fish has gone downhill in the past year, although I suspect it differs from store to store.
-
I just got back from having my emissions tested. Thankfully, I passed.
And so did my car! <rimshot> I'm here all week!
-
Interesting about the McDonald's, because last week after I posted that I was about to get my filet-o-fish, something came up that I had to attend to, and it never happened.
And just now, today, I was thinking about it and ALMOST went for one before going to the emissions place, but I decided to just get that done -- and again, one thing led to another and I still haven't had it.
-
I do feel that I need a backup plan ready, because in thinking about DR Elmore's crushing disappointment with his filet-o-fish, and after what BK just said, I need to know that there'll be a decent fish sandwich somewhere within reach when the boom gets lowered on my hopes and dreams.
-
I wish there was a good fast food place for fish around here.
Does Long John Silver's still exist? Regardless, we've never had one around here. I think that's the thing A&W gets paired with in a lot of locations, and we don't have that either.
-
Of course, as soon as I mention A&W, I immediately want one of their cheeseburgers.
There was just something about theirs that I had remembered from childhood, that I damn well recognized when having one for the first time since then some 30 years later.
-
I'm starting to get the blood work numbers back from this morning, and the situation is not nearly as bad as I first thought. But thanks for the vibes!
Keith would gladly have stayed home today, and almost did when we looked at the ice on the little hill of our driveway as we pulled out of our garage. He kindly continued out of the garage knowing I needed to go to the gym.
-
There were a few icy patches on the road.
-
There is no way I am walking out there. I really appreciated the gym today.
-
Keith dropped me off before parking and picked me up when when we left.
-
I stepped on one strip of ice when I got out of the car at Safeway. I had lowered my seat so my step out was short, and one foot was inside, just in case there was ice. Good thing I did that. Otherwise the parking lot was in good shape. Keith backed the car out before I got into the car.
To Serve Mankind was a great episode. Burgess Meredith was a very sad one.
The Billy Mummy one is very scary.
I never liked scary shows and only watched Twilight Zone as my brother loved it, and then only watched it with him.
I do remember watching The Fugitive with my family. I think I knew ahead of time it wasn't going to be scary. Susan kept fairly quiet about the plot, except that she enjoyed filming it.
It became one of my favorite episodes.
That's the Takarazuka company recording (https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/aw/d/B09NNYMWH9). I actually bought the CD from Japan. The theater company has been in existence since the early 20th century, and all the performers work for a specific railroad company. They've recorded quite a few shows:
It seems getting a replacement isn't as easy or quick as I originally thought. Keith said he had to send photos and is waiting for it to be approved before they send a replacement. He also had to take a photo after cutting the plug off.
I had been wondering if we would be required to return it. They wouldn't want these still out there for people to use. Cutting the plug off is easier than sending the fryer back.
Feeling a little nauseous - don't know why.
-
I took a nap for an hour - woke up nauseous.
-
Popped a Pepcid.
-
Ooh, heading towards a new big number.
-
Listening to the strangest thing - a Japanese cast recording of Promises, Promises with an all-female cast.
Please release this.
-
I watched CARNAL KNOWLEDGE last night for the first time since I had seen it when it was released.....1971.
I know the movie hasn't changed - but my reaction last night was quite different.
So? What was your reaction?
-
Lights went out for less than one second, just a blink, didn't even disturb the clocks, but naturally the entire Internet went down and the computer shut down and it took fifteen minutes to get it all back up and running. Disgusting.
-
Power vibes, BK.
-
George, I just listened to Tami Nielson sing with Willie Nelson, which you mentioned last night. Beyond the Stars. Outstanding. What a voice. And what a beautiful waltz.
-
Good night, all.
-
Really? No TCB. No George???
-
What's tonight's excuse? Rabbit hole? Fell asleep.
-
Most unseemly.
I agree!
-
Thankfully, power is still on. It was raining so hard before - really hard. But I yelled at the rain and it abated a bit.
-
I mean, I YELLED.
-
And finally, the prodigal George shows up.
-
Fifteen minutes - we should be able to get to page nine.
-
Should. Could.
-
Can't do it all by myself, you know.
-
And yet.
-
George showed up, made one post, and immediately went down some rabbit hole.
-
Wacky.
-
Notes are ready to post.
-
Page nine has made its entrance.
-
I finished the notes over and hour ago and got them in the form, just in case.
-
George must be eating a filet-o-fish.
-
I, on the other hand, am not.
-
Not from the local McDs anyway.
-
Done but there are plenty of other branches to choose from.
-
ONE post from George. Are we being gaslit.
-
Say what?
-
What say?
-
Oh well.
-
What can you do?
-
George showed up, made one post, and immediately went down some rabbit hole.
I'm here.
-
We played cards at my mom's and she won two games.
-
I won none. ::)
-
Tomorrow, I need to deliver the scripts for the next TAO show to my friend pug who is directing it.
-
She had asked if I could run either the sound or light board, but I was already booked, so I can't.
-
I can help out with concessions on most nights since that show goes up while I'm rehearsing the show I'm in.
-
George must be eating a filet-o-fish.
Actually, I drove through Wendy's tonight and had a grilled chicken sandwich.
-
It was okay...not great but not horrible.
-
I also got a Jr. Frosty, which was quite good. :)
-
And I parked my car in my garage.
-
I'm getting better at aiming correctly the first time, but the remote doesn't always open it the first time I click it.
-
That's annoying. :P
-
It's a brand new remote with a brand new battery, so I don't know what the problem is.
-
But as long as it eventually works, I can deal with the minor inconveniences.
-
Also tomorrow, my friend Shelly and I (and maybe Margo) are going to see the Broadway Olympia/Theater Artists Olympia co-production of Baby.
-
I know several of the actors, so that'll be fun to ketchup with them.
-
Shelly and I (and maybe Margo) might go out to eat somewhere beforehand...we'll see.
-
And now, since BK most graciously let me ramble, let's get to the...
-
PAGE TEN DANCE!! :D
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Up are new notes.
'Bout time! ::)
-
;)
