Well, you've read the notes, the notes were riveting and in the key of something, and now it is time for you to post until the riveting cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PROSPERITY!

~~~Vibes for a Miracle for BK!!~~~
Losing taste and smell with covid is still a thing, just ask Ginny. It depends which variation you catch.
-
Yes, it would be nice if DR Rodzinski had a false positive.
-
Keith has tested 3 times so we know he is truly negative.
-
DR Rodzinski, do you know you can get free test from Washington State sent to you?
-
I need to pack.
-
We have to put our larger bag out to be collected tonight.
-
I just want to go to sleep.
-
It is only 6:40pm
-
We ate in our cabin tonight.
Good morning, all!
-
DR Rodzinski, I'm sorry to hear about illness running wild in your household,
-
I slept quite well last night. Thatch amd Stella spent time sleeping with me. Poor Annabelle has another cold, but she did snuggle up with me for a while just before the alarm rang.
-
Good morning, friends.
Congratulations, DR John G., on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!!!
The Sami imdb page looks good. It's fun to see all the guests and cameo actors listed.
Some great photos in the gallery, too.
Be well vibes for the Rodzinski family.
A double dose.
I sort of slept okay.
I finished Zola’s Doctor Pascal last night. Now I have to read Nana and I will have read all 20 novels in this series. It’s taken six or seven years.
Today will be long.
On all three of those evenings I'll be inside some place or other playing auditions for Danbury's summer outdoor theeder.
The Case of the Messy Arrangements is one of my favorite Perry Mason episodes.
-
Miss June Lockhart was on Perry Mason this morning in The Case of the Scandalous Sculptor.
She is an astonishing beautiful woman with a rather dazzling figure - certainly this downplayed in Lassie.
Jon Provost has only good things to say about her and they get together a couple of times a year....or used to.
And then of course there is Lost In Space.
-
Nice IMDB page for SAMI.
Yes a viewing and ZOOM Q/A would be fun.
-
Especially since I don't have A.P. and will only be seeing the series vicariously.
-
Healing vibes for the Family RODZINSKI.
More beautiful weather for us today!
-
DR VIXMOM I saw Mickey Dolenz twice in one day as the father in AIDA - the Elton John/Tim Rice show.
He was good. I applauded when he made his entrance - but no one else did.....either time.
-
TOD:
West Side Story - original Broadway Cast.
Gypsy - original movie soundtrack
Company - OBC. I finally stopped buying revival cast albums....because....well...
Sunday In The Park With George - OBC
Follies - Mr. BK's CD of the OBC
Into The Woods - London Cast/NYC Cast
-
Al Jaffee, of Mad magazine, has died at 102.
Nice long run. I used to love his fold pictures.
-
TOD:
Most everything, but favorites among favorites:
The original Follies, script, score and OBC
A Little Night Music
Sunday in the Park with George
Do I Hear a Waltz?
Gypsy
Anyone Can Whistle
-
Seeing Sunday with the original cast remains one of my top five theater going experiences.
-
TOD:
I can't pick any favorites. I adore all of it.
Two albums that clinched my fandom, early on, were the original Side by Side by Sondheim album, and the Scrabble album.
-
I feel fortunate to have been able to see the original Broadway productions of:
Sweeney Todd
Merrily We Roll Along
Sunday in the Park with George
Into the Woods
Passion
The Frogs
Many of these more than once.
-
I was (am?) a little bit obsessed.
-
The Way of the Dodo Bird should be the title of something-or-other.
Al Jaffee, of Mad magazine, has died at 102.
Oh, my goodness! Wow...102 years old. That's amazing.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe close to seven hours of sleep.
-
I watched VALERIE on Screenpix. It was Rashomon set in the old west.
The story was told four times by Sterling Hayden, his brother, the local minister, and his wife - from her hospital bed where the court had been moved so she could testify......
The credits claimed a title song but it was never heard anywhere in the film.....
-
Then I watched 1957 English western set in Australia called Robbery Under Arms.....with David McCallum, Ronald Lewis, and Peter Finch....well about 30 minutes of it. It was okay and it was in COLOR....but it didn't have much to say.
-
I think for the next few weeks at least, we should refer to that one Mr. Sondheim musical as:
Sunday In the Park With George With George.
Other recordings:
I finished Zola’s Doctor Pascal last night. Now I have to read Nana and I will have read all 20 novels in this series. It’s taken six or seven years.
Nana is one of my favorite novels! My advice is this: get a recent translation that doesn't shy away from prudery. I read the latest Penguin translation, and several years ago I read another, maybe Oxford University Press?
-
Yes, it does! I was amazed at the size of the cast.
Nana is one of my favorite novels! My advice is this: get a recent translation that doesn't shy away from prudery. I read the latest Penguin translation, and several years ago I read another, maybe Oxford University Press?
I have two newer translations. I haven’t auditioned them yet. One is Penguin.
The modern translation of Germinal made all the difference. But I was surprised. I have an old translation on Kindle that shies away from everything. Except a truly gruesome scene where the women of the town castrate a vile enemy and hoist his penis on a stick and parade it around —that was translated, albeit in somewhat nicer language. The newer translation, though, really made you taste the anger that spurred such an action.
-
Although I hear he blinks a bit.
-
A very insightful high school English teacher showed us how a translation gone awry can totally subvert the original intent of the author.
-
Another meeting. Oy.
-
Intentionally or not.
-
Well, I was right! I read the Penguin in Ohio sometime before 1979, and I read the older Oxford University Press - there's an evenm newer one - several years ago.
-
Another meeting. Oy.
Oh joy, Oh rapture.
-
NANA spelled backward is ANAN.
Did Nana eat a banana?
-
Did Kofi Annan drink coffee?
These are the things I ponder.
I ponder as I pander.
-
Does a panda pander?
-
Who puts the "ape" in apricots?
Did Rosie the Riveter have anything to do with today's riveting Notes?
And... what about Naomi?
For the answer to these and other riveting questions...
At the library, most editions of fiction titles are all added to one bibliographic record for the patrons to search in the catalog, except for different translations of foreign works and different illustrators. They found that patrons want a specific illustrator or translator, so they accommodate that.
Have fun monkeeing around DR VIXMOM.
-
I have thought more about TOD all day today.....and I have decided that my FAVORITE show by Mr. Sondheim is COMPANY.
-
A young girl left a Meta Message [I hate that system] on the theeder page - she had left a message last week so upset that she had missed the GREASE auditions - she didn't know when they were going to be, and it was a tragedy. I mentioned in my reply that the information had been on the website since the beginning of March AND that the information had been linked to the very Facebook page that she was posting on.
-
So today she messages again and is all up in arms because THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG is having auditions and she just doesn't "know where to start."
I answered her by sending her DIRECT links to the Director's Note telling who he is looking for, the show information page, and the cast/crew page that gives her a list of all characters in the show, AND a link where she can read the entire script.
And what did I get back?
-
Not so much as a kiss my foot or HAVE an apple!
-
Page Six.
-
“We don’t gotta talk, I just want to hear your voice.”
Terrible country lyric playing in the background.
Another reason I remember BURN THIS is that a cast member and I had a contest to see who could come up with the best word combination for VSOP - Very Special Old Pale.
I won - but I cannot repeat the words on a family site.
-
In high school, my list would have included Sweeney Todd. In college, Merrily would be near the top. In upstate New York, Assassins was it. When I worked on my master’s, it was all about Company.
So, there have been Sondheim shows for different phases. I’m sure it will change again.
-
Tomorrow is our monthly seniors luncheon at the Johnston First Baptist Church. That is the first church I ever attended when we moved here in 1949. I attended Vacation Bible Schools there. We moved in 1957.
When my parents returned here in 1992, my mother rejoined the church. Every time I returned home for a visit, I would go to church with her and my Aunt Doris. I met a lot of people over the years, many of whom are now deceased, but quite a few still alive and kicking.
So...tomorrow is supposed to be a salad potluck. Bring a favorite salad that can be shared. We generally have 20-30 folks show up for seniors events.
A few years back, we had this theme and I brought in a lettuce and tomato salad with asparagus, covered with dollops of mayonnaise. It's a really delicious salad, but the lady who hosts the event isn't a fan of asparagus.
So...I paid a visit to Sam's Club today and bought two packages of chicken salad made from rotisserie chicken. And I bought a package of mini-croissants. I think I'm covered.
-
Sounds like it, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
Spare us the asparagus.
-
Marshall and I found a few fun outtakes that we'll put on TikTok and Instagram at some point. We didn't have many because I move so fast. But the few we found are really cute.
-
I just got a check in the mail for $20 for completing the Nielsen television survey.
Perhaps now I can retire.
-
ON we must push.
-
Because page six will not do.
-
Won't do at all.
-
Not even with gaslighting.
-
Went to the Coral Cafe after. I had my chicken salad sandwich - and I did as I always do even though no restaurant EVER puts mayo on the bread of chicken salad or egg salad sandwiches since those are made with mayo, but I always say no mayo on the bread. She wrote it down. And it arrived with globs of mayo on the bread. I told her I couldn't even look at it, so they replaced to the top piece of bread for me, but it made me not really like the sandwich. Wish I'd ordered the patty melt, franly.
-
Gaslighting.
I stopped at the mail place to pick up nothing, and then came home. Did some work on the computer - the first half of the commentary, so that's done and second half will be done before I go to bed.
