Well, you've read the notes, the notes pondered the question of sink or swim, and now it is time for you to post until the sink or swim cows come home.

And the word of the day is: SWIM!

~~~Some Lovely and Most Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for BK!!~~~
Hello, DR George!
~~~CONTINUED MODERN MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
And also ~~~WRITING VIBES~~~
-
I like Falsettos a lot. I couldn't even count the number of times I've listened to that score.
-
And I've seen several productiuns.
-
I know William Finn isn't to everyone's taste, but I love his stuff.
-
Notes realized. Feel-ized.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well.
I like Falsettos a lot. I couldn't even count the number of times I've listened to that score.
I'm in the minority. I call this show AIDS for Dummies, and I detest its "something bad is happening" approach to a detestable plague that kliled off a large number of friends and colleagues. I hated it when I first saw it and I hated it when I had to sit through it again when my goddaughter Charlotte was in a production about ten years ago.
-
The weekend was a Sweeney Todd festival. On Saturday afternoon I listened to the broadcast of the Theatre du Chatelet production with my friends Rodney Gilfry and Caroline O'Connor as Sweeney and Mrs Lovett. Yesterday I listened to the BBC broadcast of the 1993 National Theatre of Great Britain production, which was broadcast at the end of its run. Curiously, my friend Denis Quilley, who played Sweeney in the original 1980 London production, played the role again in the broadcast, although during the run at the National Theatre he played Judge Turpin.
It was very interesting to hear Jonathan Tunick's fantastic original orchestration played by 46 musicians in Paris one day and then to hear the small (9 musicians) orchestration he wrote for the 1993 production.
-
Denis Quilley also has the distinction of playing Candide in the original 1958 London production of Bernstein's comic operetta.
-
Today my helper Mario returns, and I'm hoping we can finish putting away the books still sitting on the floor and add a few more titles to those Connecticut library cartons.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I somehow got logged out of my account.
-
Rodzinski, isn’t the removal of blackberry bushes a plot device in Where Did You Go, Bernadette?
-
I’m so not interested in going to work today.
-
On the news this morning: an apartment building not a mile from where I live burned to the ground overnight. Fatalities unknown.
Fireworks were noted in the area just before the fire started.
Also, youths have been arrested for shooting fireworks directly at police cruisers.
-
I got rear ended on my way to work. It did nothing to the car. Except for a small scratch.
-
But I am shaken.
-
Given my propensity for whiplash, I should probably seek out a massage.
-
A gracious good Monday morning.
Here it is, the 10th of July 2023.
And here I am still mentally back in March.
-
I began watching the series "Rome" on Max yesterday.
I have, of course, seen the entire series.
It is quite wonderful to watch it again and rediscover all the wonderful things that are literally crammed into it, physically, visually and intellectually.
It was very ambitious and much of that ambition was well realized.
-
The house is quiet, the skies are gray and a bit dark at the moment.
Forecast is for showers and thunderstorms. High is expected to be 78 degrees (of temperature) and the low should be around 67 degrees (of temperature).
Brrrr!
Haven't stuck my head out the door yet, so I am imagining it is a bit humid despite the coolness.
-
Excellent night of sleep.
Dreamed many dreams, one of which remains.
A co-worker has a friend who is in hospital and may die momentarily. He was on the phone with the friend and the friend was grouchy and hung up before my co-worker could learn more.
So...he asked me to find the man's home phone number so that he could call there. He said that his former secretary had the number and I could get it from her book.
The only problem I had was that his former secretary hadn't been in the office for more than 30 years, and there was no book I could find.
To make matters worse (as it were), my desk was very well-organized but I couldn't find a phone directory anywhere.
I was glad to awaken.
-
But I am shaken.
At least you weren't stirred.
-
Oh, Joy!
Page 2.
-
Good morning!
-
Wordle: 2/6 Was I surprised!
-
BK: I have also started reading the book and am enjoying it!
-
It is Monday.....we are re-recording an interview hoping to improve the audio before it is posted.
Then a dress rehearsal.
Yes DR IRIS - it is supposed to be hysterical - we are working on it. Hard to tell until we get an audience.
-
On the news this morning: an apartment building not a mile from where I live burned to the ground overnight. Fatalities unknown.
Fireworks were noted in the area just before the fire started.
Also, youths have been arrested for shooting fireworks directly at police cruisers.
This is sad. So much stupidity.
-
I got rear ended on my way to work. It did nothing to the car. Except for a small scratch.
That's good.
-
Given my propensity for whiplash, I should probably seek out a massage.
I hope you are ok. I have the same sensitivity and my body can quickly begin to hurt.
-
But I am shaken.
It is upsetting.
-
DR John do you have anything with you to take, even Tylenol, to help relax your muscles?
-
Bruce, vibes for a Major modern miracle.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Today is our last full day.
-
We are looking forward to going home tomorrow.
-
I really like Catch Me If You Can. After first seeing it, I read the original book by Abagnale and loved getting more into the actual details.
Now, why was I thinking he had died a couple of years ago? I just googled, and he's apparently still alive and well and still consulting on security matters. What an amazing life and career.
-
I've never seen, or listened to, the musical. Has anyone here done so?
I've been told that the music is quite good, and probably quite challenging.
-
I got rear ended on my way to work. It did nothing to the car. Except for a small scratch.
OMG.
Can you say "Monday", DR John G.?
-
And it doesn't matter how minor the damage, or if there's no damage, or whatever the case may be...
It is definitely something to shake you up.
-
DR Elmore went down a Sweeney Todd rabbit hole!
Isn't it great, just purely indulging in something like that?
-

-
I'm up, I'm up - four and a half hours of sleep. Just could not fall back asleep so here I am.
-
I've never seen, or listened to, the musical. Has anyone here done so?
I've been told that the music is quite good, and probably quite challenging.
Yes! I liked the CD.
-
ChasSmith, the musical of Catch Me if You Can was one of the worst shows I've ever seen on a B'way stage. The music is exactly what you'd think it would be - big band kind of stuff, cliched. The framing device they used killed any chance of the show working. Kerry Butler had this beyond belief kind of gospel number which made no sense and was ludicrous - I assume she was the Amy Adams character. Loud and obnoxious from start to finish. Aaron Tveitt, who people seem to love, was, I thought charmless in diCaprio's role and Norbert Leo Butz worked hard but Tom Hanks he wasn't.
-
Well, I enjoyed the CD.
-
What? Did someone say something?
-
I've never heard the CD - I only know what I heard and saw in the theater. I found the score to be typical Shaiman - derivative, just like Some Like it Hot sounds. Maybe it's better as a listen, although that Kerry Butler number was from hunger, I thought. I did really like John Williams score in the film. The main title is so quirky and perfect and no one else would have written it like he did.
-
Second to the last treatment done.
-
Now we are off to the gym.
-
Ha! Two different opinions. Love it. I'll give the CD a listen sometime.
And yes, I think John Williams' film score is tops, and absolutely helped to make the movie what it was. In my li'l library of downloaded scores I have a PDF of the main title theme arranged for alto sax and piano, which looks to be tricky and challenging and should maybe be tackled someday.
-
I've never seen, or listened to, the musical. Has anyone here done so?
I've been told that the music is quite good, and probably quite challenging.
I like some things about the musical. But the book is odd. Saw it once in a community production that just about bankrupted the company.
-
Feel better vibes for DR JOHN G.
-
Rodzinski, isn’t the removal of blackberry bushes a plot device in Where Did You Go, Bernadette?
I didn’t know of it, but apparently so!
-
I think I watched a couple of videos of numbers from the CMIYC musical.....but I don't remember that they inspired me to buy the CD or see the show.
However that was the movie that first made me realize how TALL Leonardo di Caprio is......there were scenes where he towered over all the other guys....and usually he is pretty even with the other guys in the scenes.
-
Google tells me he is an even 6' tall
-
I remember seeing Catch Me If You Can on Broadway. Only thing I recall is Tom Wopat. Forgettable show, not the worst I ever saw, which was probably one of the vampire ones or something called BKLYN.
-
Weren’t a great deal of Abagnale’s claims debunked?
-
I’m tired. May I be excused?
-
Yes. I grant you freedom to nap.
-
You must raise your hand, DR JOHN G.
-
And have a pass from your teacher.
-
I read a very good book last night.
I have posted a review at AMAZON we will see how long it takes for it to show up.

I wonder what book you read, JRand. The Randy Vicar and the Bookworm?

But i think.ill try to wordle before i go back to work

Coming Sept. 15, 80 years after its premiere. I was just emailing John Wilson about this and the complete CAROUSEL. Nate Hackmann, who plays Curly, sang "They Call the Wind Maria" on the Encores! recording of Paint Your Wagon.
-
I've never seen, or listened to, the musical. Has anyone here done so?
I've been told that the music is quite good, and probably quite challenging.
I saw the show in Seattle during its pre-Broadway run. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sad distinction is that Norbert Leo Butz's sister, who lived in Seattle at the time, died during that run. :(
-
Now that I think about you are right DR JOHN G - I should have let them keep the M/W logo....but a lot of people wouldn't get it.
Sadly, most wouldn't. But I love it, and I wish there were some way to incorporate that into...something.
Could you show projections at the top of the show? Like, in The Great Race main titles, with the slides going through wrong?

Aaron Tveit was the lead and Kerry Butler played his girlfriend/wife. They were both really good, too.

DR Elmore - I picked up a copy of the McGlinn Show Boat CD set the other day when I saw it languishing, unloved, for $1 dollah. It's not the first time i've done this. I can't stand to let certain things go wasted, or get scarfed up by a dealer. This time I don't have someone immediate to hand it to, so if you keep a stash for giveaways or whatever, let me know and I'll bring it. If you don't need it, say the word and I'll find someone who will fully appreciate it.
-
Thanks for the heads up, DR elmore3003. Really looking forward to those Wilson releases.

I also got me a copy of John McGlinn's recording of Sitting Pretty, which I never had and haven't heard.

I've done that, too. I bought the McGill Show Boat when it was first released, but I just looked and saw that I bought it again in 2019 for the princely sum of $3.23 + shipping and tax!

There's a number in Act Two of Sitting Pretty, "Shadow of the Moon," that was orchestrated by Max Steiner; it's one of the most beautiful and impressionistic pieces of music, absolutely glorious. The overture with its unresolved ending is also a stunner.

Eli Sanders of 11th Ave-headquartered The Stranger has been awarded a 2012 Pulitzer Prize for his work documenting the story of South Park attack victim Jennifer Hopper.
His June 2011 report — The Bravest Woman in Seattle — came as the trial of Isaiah Kalebu for his 2009 attack played out. Hopper and her partner, Teresa Butz, were brutally assaulted. Butz was murdered. Kalebu, eventually, was sentenced to life in prison. Hopper survived and Sanders documented her testimony and pain.

Seven!
-
Did I just hear a scream?
-
Oh, that was J.B.
-
I love Paris in the springtime
-
I love Paris in the fall
-
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles
-
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
-
I love Paris every moment
-
Every moment of the year
-
I love Paris. Why, oh why do I love Paris?
-
Because my love is near.
-
In case you hadn’t guessed, that was I Love Paris.
-
Music and lyrics by Cole Porter
-
Without music.
-
It’s better than this new lyric
-
And so, my love
-
For all that we’ve been through
-
I’ve had enough
-
Maybe you have too?
-
Just walk away
-
Don’t ask what’s wrong
-
Nothin’ is left of all the love that went on
-
Nothin’ left to say
-
Just walk away.

This made me think of George
-
Well I didn’t have to go to the courthouse for jury duty today
-
Music by that Bacharach fellow.
-
And I don’t have to go tomorrow
-
But I have to keep calling
-
Eight!
-
And Wednesday evening I have the annual church trip to watch our local minor team ( The LI Ducks) play.
-
No doubt I will be ordered out to the furthest reaches of the county and will miss my outing
-
***Warning***
I didn’t mention the book about the Butz murder because the details are VERY gruesome.
Nightmare level gruesome.
-
Sounds like fun.
-
Hi, Vixmom! Hi, Iris!
-
Good night, all.
-
Well I didn’t have to go to the courthouse for jury duty today
Excellent.
-
And I don’t have to go tomorrow
Congrats.
-
But I have to keep calling
Good luck.
-
No doubt I will be ordered out to the furthest reaches of the county and will miss my outing
Vibes you don't miss your outing.

:(

There is a baby next door.
-
Keith can hear it even with the sound up on the TV.
-
I can only hear the baby when the TV is muted.
-
We hope the baby sleeps through the night.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Sorry to hear about your car accident, John G. Glad you’re getting treatment. Best to treat it right away. Vibes you get through it quickly and easily.
-
Calming vibes to Singdaw. That fire was too close!
-
Vibes to Jane and Keith for an easy treatment and trip home tomorrow.
-
Nothing new here.
(And I’m reading Harvey as well.)
TTFN.

Highly entertaining interview with Frank Abagnale and Johnny Carson.
-
Oh, how I miss Johnny Carson.
Truly irreplaceable.

Vibes to Jane and Keith for an easy treatment and trip home tomorrow.
Thank you.

'night
-
Safe travels, Jane and Keith.
Welcome home.

These reports of floods and damage in New York, Vermont, and large portions of the Northeast are
alarming and upsetting.
I hope this isn’t the new normal.
-
I slept for another hour. Was watching a bad movie I keep hoping will be good, but fell asleep ten minutes before the end and was out for an hour.
-
Then a long telephonic conversation with Doug Haverty.
-
Seconds is a masterpiece.
-
This made me think of George
(http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7288.0;attach=18070)
I have said the EXACT same thing when playing Phase 10!
-
Oh, look! It's Page NINE!!
-
I do hope the prompt for watching seconds was Preview Harvey. All the films mentioned in the book are worth watching.
-
;D

Oh, no. :-\
-
Oh, and if Jrand has finished the book, he can now peruse the PDF goodie. By the way, one page is out of order on the PDF, but it will be obvious. I was so careful when rearranging the pages but one got away from me.
-
That Sitting Pretty track is gorgeous.
-
But we must also honor BK’s theme to the mythical TV show “Sittin’ Pretty.”
https://m.youtube.com/shorts/-1mB0v1H6Ro
-
I think Barnum would have loved a skateboard - Elvis & Priscilla would just cover it up with cranberries.
-
I finished the Play That Goes Wrong slideshow.
-
Tomorrow I will work on the lobby display.
-
Ah yes - MR BK's Sitting Pretty.
-
How do you clip for the shorts? I don't understand any of it, but I'd like to do it for some of the Outside the Box episodes and for Tonight's the Night. Anyone know?
-
What a weird day this has been, which is what happens with four hours of sleep.
-
And who can’t enjoy this mini-Creature Wasn’t Nice reunion of sorts with BK and Gerrit “Rodzinski” Graham in the directorial debut of Danny DeVito? The MBC affiliates meeting scene.

-
Why have I never seen this?? 😂
-
Rodzinski, are you in that skit, and how would I recognize you?
BK, of course, was immediately recognizable, and hilarious, as always.
-
Iris! I do want to thank you again for jumpstarting me to meet with Sharon, Charles and Emily the other day! Much fun was had.
-
I was but a lad when the Ratings Game came out. BK did the songs and appears in that cameo. Gerrit Graham, the network head there, was the OG Rodzinski in The Creature Wasn’t Nice.
-
So glad that worked out!
They so enjoyed spending time with you, as you rotated around Vancouver.
-
A great, funny satire made by Showtime that should’ve come out in theaters.

Got it.
Very much enjoyed BK’s cameo…so funny.
-
BK wrote all these fake TV show themes that pop up in my head to this day.
-
The shame is you and I never got together during my Delaware years.
-
I was surprised that the temperatures were so high the week they spent in Vancouver.
They were thrilled.
I don’t do well when it hits 80 degrees. Prefer temps in the 50’s and 60’s.
-
I know, I know, what can I say?
I also love fog.
California beach living was foggy a great deal of the time…everyone complained about it.
Except me.😊
-
I think I was living in California when you were living in Delaware, Rodzinski.
What years were those?
-
I moved to Maryland in 2018.
Planning my escape as we speak.
-

I didn't notice that. :-\

I like Falsettos a lot. I couldn't even count the number of times I've listened to that score.
******
Me, too. Loved the entire trilogy. Saw a cast reunion, actually, just the male leads, in L.A. many years later…May, 2003, at the Skirball. . I cried. So did Elyse, my DD.
So did Michael Rupert, Chip Zien, and Stephen Bogardus.
It was an emotional evening.
-
PAGE TEN DANCE!!
-
However, I recently purchased a PDF editor, and was able to move the page. :)
-
Good night, all.
😴

That sounds like a wonderful evening. Wish I could've been there (or they could've recorded it).
-
I also have the cast recording to the first installment of the trilogy, In Trousers (https://castalbums.org/recordings/In-Trousers-1979-Original-Off-Broadway-Cast/2248/).

Moved here only last summer from the D.
-
I'm pretty hot in that dress.

I had so much fun writing the TV themes. My favorite was The Goombas, because originally they just wanted music only, but I got the idea for the lyric and just wrote it and they loved it and decided to animate the entire song.
-
The fun part was that all those themes and network IDs were really accurate. Someone should have hired me to write theme music, but...

Cool!
-
Part of the problem is that the composer of the score is in the main credits and I'm stuck in the end credits so many have no idea that the composer didn't write everything - I should never have allowed it. I should have been in the main titles because the TV themes are just as important as the score and, in fact, he uses them in his score occasionally.
-
When I was told the CD soundtrack was finally coming out, I asked to see the packaging. They had me listed only on like three tracks on the inlay card. I called the people issuing the CD and I said no, you are NOT doing that. I then put together a list of what I wrote and they fixed that and seeing how much it was, they ultimately put me on the front cover along with the composer.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Did something say someone?
-
Did someone sing Somewhere?
-
Oh come now, surely we can get to 300 postings.
-
Can't we?
-
We're not that far away.
-
Truth be told, I want to eat the rest of the tuna pasta salad right now.
-
But I'll be strong, like lion.
-
I don't know.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
Gaslighting 101.
-
See?
-
Whew!
-
Tonight, I went to Panda Express for dinner.
-
I always get the chow mein, but I usually bring it home and eat it later so that I don't eat so much at one time.
-
Tonight, however, I ate it all...I just wanted to.
-
So, I did. :)
-
And now, I have no Panda Express leftovers. ::)
-
Oh, well.
