Well, you've read the notes, the notes were treading water, and now it is time for you to post until the treading cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FORTE!
-
Notes treaded. Trod.

Thanks to BK, today I learned that Julius Wechter served as vice president of the Southern California chapter of the Tourette Syndrome Association.
-
I saw some sealed Ben Bagley LPs today at a thrift, including a Vernon Duke that I think was shared with another composer.
And another Bagley LP had a promo sticker boasting that it was a reissue that added four songs sung by a soap opera actor.
-
I remember in the network airing of Black Sunday, in the crowd at the Big Game, some people had a homemade sign that said, “Pittsburgh Steelers, kick Dall-ass!” And how we youngsters laughed at that.
Otherwise I found the movie terrifying.
-
Faking Tourette’s on social media for fun and profit? That would be so 2023, if true.

Search the girl and watch ten of her videos and you tell me. Baylen Dupree.
-
Here's an article giving her the benefit of the doubt but unsure if she's faking or not. And then blaming the social media companies. C'mon. This is now a "thing" on TikTok. This particular girl is, for me, the one who looks most fake although they all do in one way specifically, which this article explains. The one thing I know is you don't pick up a brand new tic by watching a TikTok video - that's just absurd. She has 8.5 MILLION followers - let's figure out how much money that translates to. https://dealingwithdisorder.com/tourettes/does-baylen-dupree-have-tourettes/#:~:text=Baylen%20Dupree%2C%20a%2019%20year,hard%20to%20prove%20they%20are.
-
Having just read up on how TikTok pays out, this girl could be literally making millions a year. In one of her videos, she's hawking a product - she can make 100,000 and up for that single video. There is something so wrong with this world and this is the perfect example, which is why young girls show their underwear or push the envelope as far as they can. And most of the high earners are - teenagers.
-
And just to put a point on it, she has multiple channels with different names - heaven knows how much this person is making.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR Rodzinski, that video clip of Sonny is just wild.
-
Congratulations to DR John G. on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!!!!
-
DR vixmom, glad that the birthday celebration for your mother was a success. She looks quite pleased.
-
I don't understand why they banned me from the gift shop.
-
Good morning, all!

After my 3:30 bathroom break I slept very poorly. Thatch was a great sleeping companion, but I could not get comfortable. Then around 4:30, Annabelle crawled under the blankets. She couldn't settle either so she wandered around my feet. Luckily, Stella stayed out of the way. It's been so warm, she and Thatch shed constantly, and she's happier sleeping in the bathroom sink, the bathtub, or on the floor.
-
I looked over the photos of the Sondheim house. I didn't recognize it at all, mostly, I suppose, because I hadn't been there since the fire and reconstruction. My last memory of being there was the 100th performance/Pulitzer Prize party for Sunday in the Park with George. What a great night!
-
I had a lovely visit yesterday with my goddaughter Charlotte. I hadn't seen her for at least four or five years, so we had much catching up.
-
Access-a-Ride will pick me up late in the morning and take me to the Lincoln Center Apple store, where I will meet Joshie, and we will look for a new computer. I've put off buying one for two long.

Good morning, all.

Thanks, George, for capturing my loftiness.

Many people don't know that in Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber's first draft of The Phantom of the Opera, it was Little Lofti.
-
And then, of course, there was Lofti Lehmann.
-
What are we all, really, but inflatable unicorns in the swimming pool of life?
-
After we complete the purchase of the Sondheim townhouse, my next project is a GoFundMe to get my new Hollywood franchise off the ground. It's going to be tater-tot-licious!
-
And one to grow on.
-
TWO!!
-
So far, the other black keys don't suspect a thing.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am envious of DR Elmore’s upcoming computer purchase.
Have a good trip to the Apple store and a fine visit with the adopted son!
-
If you don't like musical puns, you have my symphony.
-
I saw Black Sunday at the Chinese, too, but probably not on its opening day. I went at least a couple of times so I very likely was at the Village as well.
-
I saw a set of "ice cream" spoons on Amazon.
-
They are shaped like little shovels.
-
Which seems apt.
-
It’s odd, though, how I’m often not sure which one of those two theeders I saw something at during the late 1970s when I lived between them and might have gone to either one.
-
I went looking for the "theedur" lady video and couldn't find it. Perhaps she's taken it down out of embarrassment and ridicule.
-
Once I accessorized with a fancy handbag and was ridiculed for my reticule.
-
Ridic.
-
Made it to the airport. Long morning already.
-
Got the bird off to the Tweet Suites. Got a set of snacks. Got my last stuff packed.
-
Alexa this morning was going crazy with the new Camelot recording. And I have to say, it’s slow, ponderous and self-important. I really dislike Philippa Sou in it. She was also too earnest in Amelie.

In light of DR elmore3003 reminding us about the forthcoming new complete recording of Oklahoma, it is worth remembering that if Curly married Jud instead of Laurie, he'd be Curly Fry.
-
I am scanning the 2023 Emmy list to see if DR Jrand72 was nominated.
-
I'm up, I'm up - another four hour night of sleep - not good.
-
Good not.
-
As expected, no Emmy noms for us. It's all about money. For example, only three nominees in the best actress category in short form - no one watched our show, that's clear. And all three are from big-funded high-profile shows. For best short form comedy or variety - the nominees include big, big shows that must have done a ten-minute puff piece - I mean, ridic. No one watched our show. And for the Emmy people, one look at the ridiculous number of nominations, you can only imagine how much the Academy of TV must make because each entry costs money. And it's all big studio/streaming shows that spend millions on promotion. No one else has a chance. Moving short form into prime time Emmys was a bad mistake. We would have had a much better shot if it had been kept as a daytime Emmy thing. Friend Kevin Spirtas, who won multiple daytime Emmys for his short form, was furious because, of course, they're nominated for zero now.
-
Business as usual in Hollywood.
-
I saw that girl that MR BK wrote about when she was on Dr. Phil.
It was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen.....completely phony and made up.....
-
Sorry about the nominations, BK. AND about your lack of sleep.
-
THREE.
-
That Emmy stuff is ridiculous. Sorry to hear how futile it actually is.
I suppose this means an equally bad hand was dealt DR Jrand72...?
-
Made it to Houston.
-
Sorry about the Emmys, BK.

From Ron:
So, seriously: No one else bought anything on this, the first day of the Amazon two-day super sale?
I am glad the notion of a talking toothbrush has amused/bemused some of you.
We weren't home to conveniently browse for sales.
-
Keith looked quickly this morning and found vitamins on sale and will be placing an order.
-
From Vixmom:
I bought a pair of wireless EarPods this morning before I left for work. They had been delivered by time I got home
Those quick deliveries always amaze me.
-
DR Vixmom, groan regarding your day and 2:00pm jury duty.
-
From John:
I finished Better Living Through Birding, Christian Cooper’s memoir. He was the Central Park birder who video taped the woman who wouldn’t put her dog on his leash.
It is nice how much good came out of the incident.
-
From Jeanne:
Believe me, he can be quite annoying and has criticized me a number of times for not keeping my car clean like he does his. And other things. At least today it worked in my favor.
Oh! Have you explained to him why it is difficult for you to keep your car clean? Fingers crossed that now he knows it is ok with you he will clean your car more often.

From Iris:
It seems like a perfect balance, right?
Gardens, birds, lakes, walks in nature, combined with the excitement, culture, theater, and experiences that only Manhattan can provide.
It does sound lovely. DR Jeanne maybe you should move there with DR Iris ;)

Jeanne & Ron, congrats on your new DVD players.

Iris, I don't recall what our taxes were in Ashland, only that living outside of the town they were lower than in town. I'm pretty sure they were not $5,896 a month.

I admit to being overly interested in the comments from Kevin Costner's estranged wife. The latest is that Costner is a "very money focused person",,,,. This from the woman who tried to keep his house in spite of the prenup agreement, and will be receiving $129,000 per month in child support ;D

The lack of not going back to sleep is because Grant's tree people were back today, in his yard AND mine. I went to do a Gelson's run and they were not only blocking the driveway, they had tree crap all over it. I got very strong and they moved it all but it took ten minutes to finally be able to drive out of there.

Got some drinks at Gelson's, along with a couple of other necessities.

After we discussed how much upkeep your Ashland house required, the Sondheim townhouse listing info was posted. That $5,896 per month referred to Sondheim’s townhouse.

On This Day in 1979, between games of a double-header involving the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers at Comiskey Park, disco records were blown up as part of a promotion dubbed Disco Demolition Night. Fans subsequently rushed the field; in the ensuing mayhem, the second game had to be forfeited to the Tigers.

DR Ginny, if I understood correctly, you are buying a home in a retirement community, but renovation is included in the purchase price. Is that right? Will it be your names on the deed? I’m familiar with condo associations, but not what you describe. Is this a standard arrangement in Ohio? Are there restrictions on the exterior, such as certain colors?
Vibes for your culling and transition.

Hi, Jane.

Several years ago I explained that I have permanent injuries in my shoulders. He made a joke of it and laughed it off, which I didn’t find funny. He loves to talk but doesn’t listen.
His motivation in hosing down my car has nothing to do with my needs — it’s from his OCD. When I purchased the car I was dealing with some cardiac issues and was even wearing a holter monitor that day ( a cardiac test). For the next few months I had a steady stream of test, consultation, another test, another consultation. Washing my car wasn’t even on my radar. He chewed me out for not taking care of my car and hosed it down. Had he done it out of consideration, that would have been appreciated. Or had he asked. He didn’t. I didn’t appreciate it. It wasn’t even all that dirty. It was his need to control. I’ve offered to pay him to wash it, but he wasn’t interested, even though it doesn’t take long once he’s doing his. At least twice he’s said he doesn’t want a dirty car next to his clean car. (Contagion?) I make double sure the skylight is closed and all the windows are up when I park it, knowing that he might decide it’s too dirty.

DR Jeanne, we’re “buying into” the retirement community, but we won’t own the house. There is an option just to rent, but that gives you next to no input into the renovation. By paying the entry fee, we were able to ask for a lot (and get most), plus we’ll have access to the “continuum of care” when we need things like assisted living, skilled nursing, or memory care.
Thanks for the vibes - so far, so good.

I figured if he understood why your car is dirty he wouldn't berate you for it. I would think with his issues he would be begging you to let him wash your car out of kindness to both of you.
You are smart to keep your car ready for a washing, just in case-lol One thing, you never need to feel bad about him doing the work for you, or feel you need to do something nice for him ;)

Listening to The Nervous Set, a guilty pleasure that I discovered in the Middletown Public Library, which may be courtesy the efforts of one Larry Moore.

These are things that I ponder.

Sorry about the long day, DR vixmom, but it's nice to be done with your duties for another few years.
-
I have only been called for jury duty once, and I was not selected.
-
Evening?
;D
-
They looked at me and thought, "not a good bet."
-
It’s been a day
I am not surprised.
-
Then I found the jury room where I was told they filled the jury this morning and my services would not be needed
>:(
-
The woman in charge stamped my little card and told me I was good for another 6 years
At least something good came out of your having to go there.
-
I am enjoying Skyline for dinner
Is Skyline at your mother's place?
No. The chili parlor is on the way to where I am staying from her place.
Thanks for explaining.
-
Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?
Ha.
-
Whose cruel idea was it for the word lisp to have the letter "s" in it?
LOL, so true.
-
I would like to know why there aren't more chili parlors in the Midwest.
-
Someone ought to have to answer for that.

Heads should roll.

Good night, DR Jane.

Milan Kundera died at 94. I loved The Unbearable Lightness of Being, both the book and the movie. But I don’t think I have read anything else of his.

And in Gershwin's original draft, it wasn't a kitten up a tree... it was a goat.

Perhaps, DR John G. Perhaps.

They ain't eatin' chili, neither.

Chili goats.

Wednesday evening greetings! We took 3 boxes and 2 bags of clothes to Goodwill today.
It’s a start…
I know what that’s like!
It is very similar to a nice place in Medford, OR that friends moved to. If needed, can you get short term extra assistance and meals delivered to you?
Yes, I think so, DR Jane.
-
Chili goats are like Billy goats.
-
But with chili.
-
I have added The Nervous Set to my playlist.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Had a little nap. Didn't do much good.
-
Must cool off the house now.
-
Then I found the jury room where I was told they filled the jury this morning and my services would not be needed
They couldn't let you know earlier?? :o

It's called inspiration, John.

The computer has been spazzing out ever since I woke it up. I tried to write and it kept freezing and finally I got a couple of pages done, but it's too frustrating when it goes into this mode. Safari took forever to load, same with Chrome, sites were jerky. Like elmore, I really need a new computer and I can't keep holding out for Apple to do the right thing and come up with a new 27-inch with the new chips. And I just don't want the Apple Mini thing I want an all in one.
-
Since I cannot write when it's like this, I guess I'll watch the movie I started earlier. And this post just froze and gave me the spinning beach ball. I'm probably gonna have to shut it down and restart.
-
Listening to Very Warm for May. Jerome Kern just makes me happy, even if this radio cast could have been a little better. I’ll have to listen to John McGlinn’s version of All the Things You Are next.

Finally restarted and did an update while I was at it. That took fifteen minutes and it still hasn't quite loaded everything. And now Zoom is doing an update that's taking ten minutes. I've about had it with all these auto updates - they're relentless.
-
Up now: Ballroom. That’s three scores I mentioned the other day.
-
Also read 150 pages in From Here to Eternity. It’s taking me an eternity to finish. But it’s a good book to get lost in while traveling. I’m up to page 500. Less than 300 to go.
-
Good night, all.

“I've long thought that his studio, with the piano, should be recreated for the Smithsonian, like Julia Child's kitchen.”
Someone posted this about Sondheim’s studio on ATC.
I like that idea.
Julia Child’s studio was right next to the studio for the kids show ZOOM.

I watched a Michael Shayne movie called Sleepers West on YouTube last night. A train-based adventure that unfortunately goes off the rails literally and figuratively in its hasty conclusion. Programmers, amiright? Lloyd Nolan starred with Lynn Bari and the captivating Mary Beth Hughes.
Louis Jean Heydt was captivating also. I learned that he later died in the middle of a performance of a play he was starring in with a young Jane Fonda.
Don Costello played the heavy. He died four years later of an accidental sleeping pill overdose. Sleepers West, indeed.

Now I'm confused about the confusion. 8)
Confusion over what?

Head tilts. LOL!!! Gave me quite a chuckle.

I am halfway through Season 2 of "Rome".
I have spent quite a bit of time looking up biographical information on various characters, including Octavian (Augustus Caesar), his mother Atia, his sister and his brother-in-law Agrippa.
Casting surprise: Agrippa is played by Allen Leech, the actor who played Tom Branson, the chauffeur in "Downton Abbey".
"Rome" was an incredibly ambitious and supremely satisfying accomplishment that played loosely with fact about folks, but stayed true to what is known of the times. The production values are astonishing/astounding. If it had not been so expensive to produce, HBO would likely have given it another season or two.
Casting kudos: David Bamber as Cicero. The man is a superb actor. And the late Ray Stevenson as Pullo is wonderful, as well.
I love the entire cast, especially Kevin McKidd as Vorenus. He had an impossibly complex man to portray. Vorenus was a man of morals and loyalty and found himself caught up in the cross hairs of Roman civil unrest. He was astonishing.

All right. My frenzy is expended.
Sleep is beckoning.
Stay safe, sleep well, and dream wonderful dreams, all.

So some friends of mine called and asked to join them downtown, so I shall. I'm sure I won't be back until after the day changes, so don't expect me. :)
-
Wait a damn minute. Suddenly George is a night owl and goes out to stuff his face with food and liquor rather than be here for the change of the day?

Have I got that straight?

Have I got that crooked?

We could have made it to page eleven but noooo... Mr. Popular has to be with the populace.

Did I go out galavanting?

Did I desert the jernt?

New notes are up.

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.

I wrote them.

And now they can be read.

Only there's no one here to read them.

Why I oughta...

Out on the town. Mr. Night Life. Clubbing it. Smoking the marijuana cigarettes and taking the cocaine.

Getting liquored up.

Eating smashed burgers.

And the fries that are french.
