Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Mann-centric, and now it is time for you to post until the Mann made cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LOQUACITY!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly, and I could not get my legs to relax. Around 12:45 I took a Tramadol and a Tizanidine tablet and fell asleep shortly after. I did not sleep well, but I was very happy to be surrounded by all three cats.
-
I watched a very strange and very black comedy titled Down Low, starring Zachary Quinto and Judith Light, with a short appearance at the end from Audra MacDonald. I thought much of the film was rather poor with some shocking, very funny and outrageous moments.
-
Hopefully, this will be a quiet day. I need to write a check, and I would love to get back to composing. Working on the ballet all last year got me enthused, and then I let it slide.
-
Speaking about the ballet, my colleague Doug put this on his site:

Nice write up, Elmore!

I slept well and I actually feel somewhat rested for the first time in what feels like weeks

Anyway, Wordle then work.

Oy! Wednesday already?
Today is the 13th, and today is Pot Luck Seniors Luncheon at Johnston First Baptist Church!
I will attend, and I will take food. I have some frozen sides I ordered from QVC late last year, sides that would be great for a Christmas dinner, but which I never used because I did not make or attend a Christmas dinner.
One of the sides is a three cheese Macaroni and Cheese. Another is a Cheese and Hashbrown Casserole. That's a lot of cheese, eh? Another is a sweet potato casserole and a fourth is a dressing disch.
I am going to do two only. Likely, the first two.
Will be putting them into the oven in approximately one hour.

I truly enjoyed everyone's reminiscences of their exposures to music and record players yesterday.
As a toddler, I had a plastic record player that played 45s. The last time I played it, I was about 11 or 12. I was going through the infantile recordings I had and fixated on "Teddy Bears Picnic". I played it over and over for about an hour. The day was hot. We had no air conditioning.
I had, during the years of puberty, occasional "sick headaches". That is what my mom called them, but they were a form of migraine.
That day, I developed one of those sick headaches and was bedridden by early evening and tended to throughout the night by my parents who would put a cold cloth on my brow, adjust the sweat-soaked sheets (or replace them), etc.
The worst thing about that particular headache was the ear worm that played over and over in my head;
If you go down to the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the woods today
You better go in disguise
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today is the day the teddy bears have their picnic
I was allowed to stay home the next day and rest My headache and fever broke early in the morning and I was exhausted.
I had the strength, however, to take that damned 45 and smash it to pieces.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
All caught up on posts.
-
.
-
Who decides these things?
-
When I was 13, I received a hi-fi (not stereo) for Christmas. Included were a couple of 45s, one featuring Bing Crosby and the other had Hawaiian songs on it. I have never understood the choices, but they were fine. Over the next year, some inexpensive LPs were added, including the previously mentioned Strauss waltzes, but happily, I began expressing my interests in music to relatives who then gave me LPs for birthdays.
Among my treasures were a Mantovani recording entitled "Exodus" on the London label. I loved that recording, especially a track from "Mr. Wonderful" which I knew nothing about except that it had been a Broadway musical. Another joy was the original Chipmunks album (with David Seville and the Chipmunks).
My interests soon veered into music from films. The first soundtrack i owned was Ernest Gold's "Exodus".
It wasn't until I was in the Navy and assigned to Italy (1973, the year I acquired my first serious stereo component set-up) that my ear was alerted to the splendors of classical music. Some credit must go to Sir Alfred Ralston who included a great deal of Elgar in his score for Richard Attenborough's "Young Winston". It was there that I heard the first strains of the "Nimrod" suite from "The Enigma Variations".
After that, I pored over the classical sections of most military exchange record bins during the course of my career.

Enough Tuesday redux!
I had a major memory jog reading all of yesterday's posts.
Have a great Wednesday!!
If anything interesting develops at (or as a result of) the pot luck, I shall elaborate later.

What a great page, chock full of information!
Got it bookmarked for further review before the big event!
-
Today almost feels like a day off, with only an evening dress rehearsal.
I do have to run one errand, and I’ve got plenty to do at home. Much of it will be spent at the plastics, learning to play Matilda competently. There are some interesting sounds, and some good piano passages.

The new season of The Amazing Race starts tonight! All shows this season are once again 90 minutes.
-
DR George thank you for reposting Jrand's photo so I can see it.
Now I want to know why it is in a kitchen, and is that an antena on top of the tv ;)
-
From DR Vixmom:
Why would you want to hook your stove up to Wi-Fi?
;D
My brother has that and it complicated his life when he had to change his clock. I know someone else who loves having the WiFi connection.
-
My brother did not care about WiFi, it just came with his oven when he replaced his broken one.
-
I agree with you Vixmom but fear if we have to get a new oven we might not have a choice.
-
I slept well and I actually feel somewhat rested for the first time in what feels like weeks

That's really cool, Larry!
-
I especially like this part:
Star on the Rise is the brainchild of Phil Chan and Doug Fullington, but more than that, it is the result of close collaboration with music adapter and orchestrator Larry Moore and the whole of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Ballet Department.

Doctor on the ball vibes for DR JANE.

DR Jrand73 didn't mention what type of ball.
-
Never wear mauve at a ball.
-
And eat first.

Who will make me a coconut torte?
In lieu of coconut, would a sharp RE-tort do?
-
Pot luck is over.
Too much food. Too many with cheese, including my two dishes. But nobody complained, and we all ate a little of everything.
Good conversation at lunch.
-
Got home around 1:15 p.m., sat down in my chair, and I just woke up from a nap. Ninety minutes worth, and I loved it.
-
It is a beautiful day in Johnston SC, on the northwestern edge of the CSRA.
-
The air was cool when I left the house at 11:40 a.m., but it warmed up considerably over the next hour.
It is 75 degrees right now.
-
That's all I have for now.
Enjoy page 3!

We wouldn't expect anything less, DR Ron Pulliam! 8)

I got into a fight on Facebook with an idiot Trumper - why did I do it? - and I am blocked for three days because I posted "Eat shit and die." These Facebook police let politicians post b;atant lies and do nothing, but I give good advice to a jerk who's called me everything under the sun and I'm blocked. So, I went to Facebooks recommendation site and told them to fuck off.
-
Doctor on the ball vibes for DR JANE.
Thanks. So far they haven't had a cancellation to get me in sooner. I still have my Tuesday scheduled appointment.

We are also at 75 degrees.

Serious thunder storms are predicted for tonight and tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Pi Day. I have my version of Texas Trash Pie in the oven now. I love this pie. And this time I was able to find Heath toffee pieces, which sound so much better than butterscotch, which I settled for last time.
-
I will not settle for butterscotch, I tell you!
-
I have started listening to The Three Musketeers. The full novel is 24 hours long. I'm about a third of the way into it. Loving it.
-
Never wear mauve at a ball.
Or pink. ;)

Pi Pie!
-
I’m back, and to prove it, I’m here.
-
Been feeling a bit sluggish and borderline sick. But it’s not strong, just annoying.

-
But I will have to watch it tomorrow.
-
Good night, all.
-
I bought a stove
Looks great, DR vixmom! And no wifi?

MAGA folks are SO touchy.
Today, I posted a comment on my Facebook page that if people think things are bad now, just remember that four years ago we were storing dead bodies in refrigerated trucks.
A former Navy friend posted "Out of context".
i was perplexed, but defended my statement as being accurate and asking to what context he was referring.
I still await his reply.
Four years ago was 2020, yes? We were in the pandemic, yes? Deaths in large cities were so frequent and great in number that funeral homes could not keep up and stored bodies in refrigerated trucks until they could tend to them...yes?
That is what I remember. I am certain there is MAGA "alternate fact" coming about my statement, and I'm looking forward to asserting truth over fiction
-
I find indefensivle and unsupportable and unforgivable that military people, former and current, would ignore the comments by a man who called all who died for their country "losers", who mocked a man who was a prisoner of war, and who declared his ROTC training more than equivalent to the status of generals and admirals.
I spit upon them figuratively, and will do so literally at any opportunity.
-
It is past midnight here. I am alone on this page with ZERO guests.
I guess eveyrone has gone to bed.
-
I bought a stove
Looks great, DR vixmom! And no wifi?
No Wi-Fi no airfryer no convection just a nice regular stove with self clean

March 10 was Mario Day, I learned from my kids.
Because MAR1O
-
On the eve of the eve of our journey, my wife’s brother came home to find his wife had packed all her stuff, taken their kid, taken their car, and left him. While I was on the phone with him, his doorbell rang and I knew what that was. Divorce papers served. The whole thing’s sad. And bro-in-law is an overgrown kid, basically, so it’s hard to even advise him. I just kept saying, call out of work tomorrow and call lawyers.
-
She had done this once before a few years ago minus the divorce papers. But he “won her back.” Then in time they slipped into their mutually toxic old habits. And here we are.

Oh no , how is your wife taking the news?
-
And how is your daughter? Has she fully recovered?
-
Thank you for asking, daughter is great now.
Wife trying to help her brother keep himself together, it’s additional stress for sure.
-
Maybe I could advance us to a new page.
-
Ron, yeah I’d love to hear this guy’s context. That word, to these people, generally means some conspiracy theory they heard about.

King D-Bag Aaron Rodgers is a possible VP candidate for the wackiest Kennedy. That lasted less than 24 hours before we learned ol’ Aaron told some folks Sandy Hook was a govt hoax.

But seriously folks, this is our world.

I probably should doze.

Deez, dem, and doze, as the East Side Kids would say.

Once again, stuck on page six. I don't get it.
-
And not even halfway.
-
And of course, George leaves and eats a burrito.
-
Trying to get a handle on Handel's Messiah.
-
Not easy.
-
Not breezy.
-
Still full from the Smoke House.
-
Very full.
-
Full up.
-
Clam chowder.
-
Shrimp cocktail.
-
Wedge salad.
-
Garlic cheese bread.
-
Still on page six.
-
And George? Asleep or burritoing or down some damn rabbit hole.
-
He could have, of course, made many postings and we wouldn't be stuck on page six.
-
Page six. What are we, the New York Post.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
George is still in the room.
-
Page seven.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
In case anyone was wondering.
-
And George? Asleep or burritoing or down some damn rabbit hole.
Chatting with my friend, Shelly.
-
Tonight's rehearsal went well, so there's that.
-
We ran act one...got through it about one and three-quarters times.
