Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the love of a good chili dog, and now it is time for you to post until the chili dog-loving cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PLETHORA!

~~~Vibes for the Miracle of a Modern Major Miracle!!~~~
Good morning, all!
-
I was feeling a mite puny last night, so I went to bed at 8:00 and got a little more than 10 hours of sleep last night. I'm feeling pretty good this morning.
-
I have few plans today.
-
Aha glad to hear about the success of DR GEORGE and his fellow theeder folks last night.
A surprise blackout keeps everyone on his toes.
-
Yesterday I watched a film on Tubi.....an Italian film from Italy with subtitles.
It was a mystery/thriller with the English title The Sunday Woman. It starred Jacqueline Bisset and Marcello Mastroianni.
It was very good. I had never even heard of it - but it is highly recommended by the likes of me. There is a secondary story of a gay couple who are having problems with their relationship....
-
And now I must be on my way to my own theeder.
We are opening the theeder for the season because tomorrow the first set of OKLAHOMA! auditions will be held.
-
DR FREDDIE I think the freeze warning happens when the temps will be below 32 degrees.
-
Good morning on our way to the gaming convention
Good morning, all.
-
I allowed myself to sleep in slightly longer than usual, this being a day in which I didn't have to get up and start doing something right off the bat. There's really plenty I need to get off of my ASS and work on today, but it's going to wait a little bit.
-
I don't know from Nickelodeon or any other childrens' show past, say, the sixties. I was never even a Sesame Street watcher. None of it. Ever. At all.
-
So BK has changed chili brands. I'll be interested in what the difference is because I, too, have been a Hormel person for some time, because I think their no-beans chili is of a perfect consistency and taste for things like hot dogs and omelets.
But there's no reason not to experiment, and I'm going to see what other brands we have in the local stores.
-
Does anyone remember Stagg's chili? I'm thinking it hasn't been around for a long time, but I should look it up. This was in the 70s or maybe early 80s, and they had a no-beans variety with supposedly better chunks of beef or "steak" than the typical ground beef.
-
Oh my, looks like it certainly is still around. If it is, in fact, the same brand I knew back then. And it's Stagg, not Stagg's.
-
They've got an insane number of varieties.
-
I love insane numbers of varieties of things.
-
Good morrow, gentle folk!
-
I find myself in the throes of a dilemma.
Don't you hate it when that happens. Dilemmas are one thing, but "throes" are another thing altogether. I hate it when they pair up
My dilemma is whether to do a whirlwind spring cleaning today, tomorrow and Monday, or whether to not do same.
Same does need doing, but I just have to wonder about when it is best to be done.
-
You may ask yourself, "Why put off till another day what you may accomplish over the next three days?' But I'll tell you: I don't know.
I guess I'm just lazy.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t remember watching shows with kids in them too much, except for Lucy and Desi Jr. in Here’s Lucy. I didn’t care for The Waltons or Little House. Too rustic.
-
Even more vibes for BK to get the miracle of a modern major miracle!
-
George, so good to hear that your opening night went so well!
-
TOD: I enjoyed HR Pufnstuf quite a bit, and bought the album (maybe it was a 45 rpm?) of the songs.
-
The Electric Company and Zoom were also regular viewing.
Yes DR GEORGE's surprise blackout last night was a salute to the upcoming ECLIPSE.
The theeder is ready - let the auditions begin.....tomorrow at 3 p.m.
Finished La Roue. It was only 4.5 hours long. But it felt longer.
-
Still, it was impressive.
-
Back to Bitter Crop, the Billie Holiday bio. Didn’t know about her relationship with Tallulah Bankhead. Also makes me want to learn more about Hazel Scott.
Broken leg vibes for another great season!
Fortunately I missed out on watching, or my children watching, Nickelodeon shows.
You may ask yourself, "Why put off till another day what you may accomplish over the next three days?' But I'll tell you: I don't know.
Isn't there a saying to never put off until tomorrow or the next day what you might potentially be able to put off indefinitely?
Back from a quick trip to ShopRite, which, fwiw, fyi, and for the record, carries NO chili brand other than Hormel. That's pretty weird, no?
I used to have a magnet on my refrigerator that said always put off today what you can do tomorrow, or something like that.
Cool.
Congratulations DR George on a great opening night!
-
TOD: The only children's TV shows I can recall even vaguely are Howdy Doody (more for the theme music than the show) and Milky the Clown.
-
Tonight we go see "Birds and Balls", a pair of one-act operas about competitive finch singing and the Billie Jean King / Bobby Riggs match. We know most of the cast, having sung in the chorus while they've been principals.
Sounds intriguing
-
Back from a short errand and am now making two count them two chili dogs.
-
Finishing Bitter Crop. I have to find a physical copy. The narrator refers to an Eileen Stritch. I have no idea who to blame for that.
The narrator also adds a d to Champs Elysees, so it sounds like d’Elysees. Ugh.
-
DR MICHAELG I am most intrigued.
-
Thanks DR JANE we shall try.
-
How could I forget The Mickey Mouse Club? I am mortified.
I think the only NICK show I watch and still watch is HENRY DANGER.
-
Or did I say that already?
-
Another verbal mistake: Lanette McKee, not Lonette
-
I love chili dogs.
I usually use what is known in these parts as Coney Dog Sauce.
DR CHAS SMITH's posts as time goes by mentioned the Hormel which I tried....but it wasn't a favorite.
I am happy to read about other brands and shall certainly look for them. Right now - being OFF carbohydrates I have to eat my chili dogs without my buns.....so we shall see what we shall see.
-
I hope DR VIXMOM and the VIXDAD are being the stars of the gaming convention!
Of course we need photographic evidence.
I also remember watching Boomerang, a show locally produced in Seattle that starred Marni Nixon...yes THE Marni Nixon!
The Show Boat: The Musical! :))
I also remember watching Boomerang, a show locally produced in Seattle that starred Marni Nixon...yes THE Marni Nixon!
In Seattle you got Marni Nixon. In Detroit we got Milky the Clown, sponsored by Twin Pines dairy.
Oh yes, I must have watched Bozo the Clown too.
This would be a deal-breaker for me.
Saturday evening greetings! We’re following both NCAA basketball tournaments this weekend. The women’s semifinals were great games last night and tonight’s men’s games are currently unfolding.
DETROIT!!!
DR MichaelG, did you grow up there, too? My family lived on the west side until I graduated from high school in 1968. My earliest TV memories are of Romper Room with Miss Ardis (Keneally) and, of course, Soupy Sales.
We also got kids programming from the Windsor, Ontario, Canada station CKLW. Johnny Ginger, Captain Jolly, Jingles.
The audience is probably a similar size to last night, but they seem to be enjoying a little more than last night's audience.
Thanks, John.
Current mood:
There's one moment in the first act where Father Charles confronts Jack, and because our Jack is so tall, the director had Charles do this visual joke:
Good night, all.
Finished with my viewing, such as it was.
-
And it was such.
Thinking about having a tortilla with cheese - I've only had the two dogs, some low-fat cottage cheese, and a pudding cup.
-
Tortilla is only 120 calories and the cheese won't be much.
DETROIT!!!
DR Ginny, yes indeed. I was born in Detroit and grew up in the northwest suburbs. I remember CKLW much more for the radio than the TV!
-
Birds and Balls was excellent! They did the two operas back to back without intermission, linked by Howard Cosell commentary and backstage film with local opera celebrities, including Frederica von Stade!
-
Vinkensport, the "Bird" opera, was composed by David T. Little with libretto by Royce Vavrek. It focuses more on the different personalities of the people competing in finch singing, held captive by their "one ounce opera divas." Some are funny, some poignant, some a mix of both. I have now loved both of Little's pieces that I've heard so I need to seek out recording of others, including his JFK opera.
-
Balls was composed by Laura Karpman with libretto by Gail Collins. It of course places the Battle of the Sexes in the larger context of women's rights, with Susan B. Anthony playing a prominent role. Nikola Printz was particularly awesome as Billie Jean King, and has a great opening aria, "Pressure is a privilege. Pressure is the point." Nathan Granner was also wonderful as Bobby Riggs and as Hans Sachs's trainer in Vinkensport.
-
Opera Parallèle does great work in contemporary opera here. There are way too few comic operas in the repertoire, so it was great to have these two one-act operas making serious points in fun and funny ways.
-
We have a laugher in the audience tonight and she's helping others to laugh, too. ;D
Where is everybody?? You'd think it was a cruisin' Saturday night or somethin'!
Thinking about having a tortilla with cheese - I've only had the two dogs, some low-fat cottage cheese, and a pudding cup.
I drove through Carl's Jr. on my way home tonight.
I got the Charbroiled Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich (https://www.carlsjr.com/menu/chicken-more/charbroiled-santa-fe-chicken-sandwich), and it wasn't too bad, except that I dripped on my jacket without realizing it because I was eating while driving at night. ::)
-
Not the first time that that's happened.
;)
-
It wasn't too bad, but if I have it again, I will, of course, eat it at the place and not eat it while driving.
My goodness, what is going on?
Haven't seen Rodzinski much, hope all is well with him and family.
By butt hurts - I have to get a new swivel-stool soon - this one is not doing it anymore.
-
Where's George go?
-
He already ate.
-
What could he possibly be doing? Reading a book or will he simply never finish it.
-
I was in Santa Fe once - that was more than enough.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Guess not.
-
Oh, George?
-
I won't shower tonight as I have to shave in the morning and I'll shower then.
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
They're there.
-
They're not going anywhere.
-
I forgot to mention in them that as I was watching some video or other around 4:40 the power went down - it came back up about a minute later, but of course, all the clocks had to be reset, the Internet had to find itself, and of course I had to turn the computer back on. Very annoying.
-
VERY.
-
George just disappeared without a trace.
-
We are sans George.
-
I need to get to bed in about thirty minutes.
-
I just do.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Where the HELL is the page I do not care for?
-
Lurking.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
What could he possibly be doing? Reading a book or will he simply never finish it.
I went down the rabbit hole of The Meidas Touch vids. ::)
