Happiest of birthdays to DR Ginny!!!

Slept well. Had the now recurring dream of being in the pilot of a roller disco show. Music rights were a problem and so were the musical guests. I wanted people like Springsteen, who had nothing to do with disco, but I liked the music.

Good morning, all.

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO OUR DR GINNY!!!

Yesterday's walking, crawling, and other exertions between leaving home, seeing my podiatrist, getting to therapy barber, the walk home, and then the effort of getting into the building and up the steps in the lobby were probably good exercise, but a very painful ordeal, and my body really feels it this morning. The alarm rang at 5:30 and I got up to dress. The pain in my right hip joint was intense, so I sat down, turned off the alarm, and said to my bedmates Annabelle and Thatch, "We're going back t bed, babies."
-
Two hours later, I got out of bed. Dressing was painful, but I accomplished it. I had a problem gettong into my right shoe - my feet are swollen, and Dr Corrado advised me to cut back on sugar - but I finally got my foot into it. The cats are fed, and I am having my coffee.
-
If my fliptop phone could do selfies, I'd post a photo of my nice haircut.
-
I have some personal work to begin today, and I suspect it will go on for several days. At 2:00 I'm having a FaceTime visit with one of my theatre professors in grad school. He's a big musical theatre fan, and in 1970 he lent me a reel to reel tape of a show he loved, The Sap of Life.
When Kritzerland released the recording on CD, I sent him a Facebook message about the release, and he ordered it. He's now 81, and we've been visiting on FaceTime ever since.
-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Very Happy Birthday Wish for our DR Ginny !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR GINNY.
-
Thanks to all for the procedure vibes.
I am scheduled to be there at 11 a.m.
It has now been since Monday at 11 p.m. since I have eaten anything. I am rather hungry. I have my coupon so that we can stop at Burger King on the way home and I can get my Family Bundle.....3 whoppers, 3 cheeseburgers, 3 regular fries.
It usually lasts three or four days - I don't think that will be the case today.
-
Dental vibes for MR BK and DR singdaw.
-
DR singdaw I am glad I make you laugh.
-
I had to do my second round of prep at 3 a.m.
I was watching episodes of Rocky Jones on Roku Tv.....they are badly edited and out of order....very difficult to watch....but it did keep me awake.
-
Nice photos DR GEORGE.
-
It is 28 degrees headed for 33 degrees.
With a bit of snow and near zero temps/feels like temps scheduled for tonight.
-
Took my blood sugar - it is a very nice number 115 - if a bit low.
-
And of course I cannot drink any water this morning. So I am parched.
-
Page Three.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What was your favorite fantasy/sci fi television series when you were growing up?
-
Thanks to all for the procedure vibes.

This time tomorrow, I shall be on the verge of being eyeglass-free for the first time in 60-plus years! I get cataract surgery on my left eye, and I can hardly wait!
Actually, I have been functioning without my glasses since the second day of my first surgery except when i want to read something in regular print or smaller (like pill bottles and cooking instructions on frozen foods).
I expect I may need to own a pair of reading glasses regardless of my improved eyesight, but it won't be a daily thing. The doctor said I wouldn't have the sharp vision I had as a teenager, but I corrected him by saying I never had sharp vision as a teen!! Still, I am paying (almost through the nose) for the best lens they have in order to live glasses-free, including when I read books, etc.
-
I have to repor for surgery at 6:50 a.m. tomorrow. Happily, my return visit on Friday is for 9:35 a.m.
My cousin, Debra, has been my rock through all this. She picks me up, takes me to wherever we need to be, and returns me home.
I have told her to please call me to reciprocate when she needs to have someone with her for such matters.
-
Vibes for JRand.

Back from the doctor. Despite not having been examined for more years than I care to reveal, my eyes are in good shape. The prescription has changed hardly at all.

One interesting thing: my new eye doctor recommended "office lenses" for me. They expand the mid-range (computer) section of my progressive lenses to almost the whole lens. Since I do intensive computer work all day long, I would wear these while I am working, then switch to my regular progressive lenses the rest of the time.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GINNY! MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THIS DAY!
-
I also have some congenital cataracts and some normal age-level cataracts developing, but not to the point where surgery is required yet.

I also have some congenital cataracts and some normal age-level cataracts developing, but not to the point where surgery is required yet.
I only have two points to make: 1, you won't believe how much clarity of light and color await you (the eyes slowly alter your perception of color and light over time); and 2, the surgery is over before you know it has begun. Pain-free and easy-peasy,

Thanks, DR Ron Pulliam. I think the cataracts have to get a lot worse before insurance will pick up the tab.

Finally got the doctor's notes on my bloodwork - the ONLY thing that's near being problematic is the danger of heart attack or stroke and mostly due to weight and diet - so, the obvious suggestion is lifestyle changes - some exercise, lower carbs, way back on sugar, more fiber - so, I'll start doing that now slowly, but really start in the New Year. Everything else is really good - including low risk of prostate cancer.
-
Will be on my way to the dentist in one hour.
-
DR JRand, I hope you are now recovering from a smooth and uneventful procedure.
-
Then a brief bank stop.
-
Then a call to the mail place and a visit if anything's there.
-
Then the body shop at three.
-
Then Uber home. I'm not really understanding why my insurance did not cover rental cars for this kind of thing.
-
I mean, no one asked me about it.
-
Richard and I celebrated my birthday yesterday by seeing WICKED for my second time and his first. Then we picked up dessert from The Cheesecake Factory and came home to eat some leftovers for dinner.

I have only ever done Lyft because I found the app easier than Uber. I don't know why. Keith has done both, but then Uber came first.

From Bruce:
So excited to get my new crown and finally be able to chew on both sides of my mouth without fear of crowns coming loose and trying to get them back where they belong, which is what I've been dealing with for six YEARS.
I can't believe you suffered that long. When they first became loose it should have been easy to just cement them back in.
-
And from here on in I will be a good fellow and see a dentist every six months.
Good!
-
DR Rodzinski, that upside down read for the answer sounds vagely familiar. I wonder if my kids read those books, or others with the same idea.

DR George I enjoyed your photos from last night.

Procedure vibes for DR RON PULLIAM tomorrow.
-
Thanks to all for the wonderful vibes.
The procedure went smoothly. A biopsy on one polyp will yield its results in a day to two.
Everyone was most pleasant and professional. My new procedure doctor was very good and kind. He asked good questions and explained everything that was going to happen. He is a Chinese man named Shan Cheng.....probably in his late thirties with dark black hair with gray at the temples.
I am now on a FIVE YEAR plan.....and the Burger King lunch was wonderful!
Here is his page on the St. Francis website.

Now for today's Twilight Zone experience.
My late uncle had three 35mm photo canisters. Two of them still had the film lead on them....one obviously had been used. I had them at my house since November of 2021 when he passed away.
This week I remembered them and my sister took them to Walgreens for processing. The two with the film leads of course had nothing on them. The other one had many pictures of his house furniture.
The Last Two Photos included one of my kitchen. And one of my play room with the two chairs I purchased from his estate. BUT I didn't bring them home until almost a month after he passed away.
We only had the film, not the camera.....so there it is....I guess he approves of how I used them.

Congrats on the procedure and the Burger King.
It was a Chinese dentist in Beverly Hills who extracted my left wisdom teeth, and he seemed like the most wonderful doctor ever. Older guy, at least from my perspective then. Nearly 45 years ago, but one of those you never forget.

Back from dentist and bank.
-
Turns out today was to prep the bit of tooth that's getting the crown and to take an impression. That's all done now but I won't get the crown until 12/31 at noon.
-
He shot me up with a LOT of Novocain again and really worked on the prep - I didn't feel it then, but now - so much damn pain. I just took an amoxicillin and hopefully that will help. I'll also do Tylenol in about ten minutes.
-
I thought the pain from the abscess was going to be horrible but it was NOTHING compared to right now.
-
He also made a new temporary and that's in.
-
Still can't chew on the left side until the permanent is in.
-
I won't attempt to eat anything until after I get home from the body shop. Been a long time since I've used Uber so I'm not sure what To means - does it mean to where I'm getting picked up or to the house?
-
Geez, this isn't fun.
-
I need some damn FUN, not pain.
-
No FUN, no gain. I prefer that version.
-

Pain-go-away vibes for BK! Yikes!

No FUN, no gain. I prefer that version.
Gain is good, pain is bad.

Tylenol taken.
-
Who's got the pain? I do.
-
Hate this.
-
Who wouldn't?
-
Oh Don? Don Wilson.
-
Jack Benny lives.
-
I wonder if the pain has something to do with the new temporary being more snug. We'll see how it all progresses.
-
I wonder if there's less pain on another page?
-
I mean, something is waiting in the damn wings.
-
See?
-
Ah, the page that shall not be named.

Welcome, 373 GUESTS!

Yes, he made a new temporary. I'm sure the pain is from prepping everything - ninety minutes of it.

I asked Alexa to play O Holy Night and some Christmas hymns. She played Johanna from Sweeney Todd.

Starting Brick, which was an introduction to Rian Johnson, long before Knives Out. If I recall correctly, it didn’t quite work.

But I like the young cast.

Gratuitous post 200!

DR Freddie, yesterday’s movie outing was the major celebration of my birthday. We’ve known for several weeks that Richard had a physical therapy appointment this afternoon and a church commitment this evening. We did manage to put our Christmas tree up and get the lights on it. I might start on the ornaments tonight.

The concept for Brick is better than the execution.

Also, if you’re trying to make a noir, make it visually interesting.

We’ve known for several weeks that Richard had a physical therapy appointment this afternoon and a church commitment this evening. We did manage to put our Christmas tree up and get the lights on it. I might start on the ornaments tonight.
Beware! You may need to turn on the sound.

This is great!

If you liked Jonathan Bailey in the movie Wicked, you might enjoy this:

Liking him in Wicked prompted me to watch all of Bridgerton and its prequel Queen Charlotte.
-
This is great, to be on Page Eight, beyond the Page That Shall Not Be Named, before 7 p.m. (Eastern time)!
-
Back from the body shop - very nice folks there. Probably not gonna get the car for a month unless they can find the stuff in the US. She said they'd do their best.
-
When did Uber get so damn expensive? Won't be doing THAT a lot, let me tell you.
-
Ordered a salad from CPK - should be here soon - really hungry.
-
Pain is finally lessening. I'll do more Tylenol later. Oh, and dentist was AMAZED at how much better my gums were - no bleeding at all today.
-
Where the HELL is my food?
-
No bread today.
-
No sugar today.
-
Oh, and dentist was AMAZED at how much better my gums were - no bleeding at all today.
Fantastic!
-
Oh - DoorDash is having deliver another order before mine. How sweet of them.
-
Endearing, really.
-
Looking at the delivery map and route he's taking - it's more than one order before mine.
-
He's actually going backwards to some place even further away. If he doesn't get on the right track in two minutes, a phone call will be in order.
-
Brick was good, but a little too self-aware on the director’s part.
-
Moving slower than molasses but getting on the right track to here.
-
Off to a birthday dinner in a few.
-
This Dasher is a complete moron. He was five seconds from the street that's two blocks south of me. But noooo - this moron goes down to Ventura Blvd. two blocks completely out of the way.
-
This food should have been here twenty minutes ago.
-
Back from the body shop - very nice folks there. Probably not gonna get the car for a month unless they can find the stuff in the US. She said they'd do their best.
Do they need to keep the car until then or will you return to the shop once the parts are in?
-
Pain is finally lessening. I'll do more Tylenol later. Oh, and dentist was AMAZED at how much better my gums were - no bleeding at all today.
Great!
-
Inching his way back toward - the street he could have taken five minutes ago.
-
Off to a birthday dinner in a few.
We are off to meet friends for a belated birthday dinner for me.
-
One block away.
-
This is riveting.
-
Seems like he's here - and yet - nothing.
-
Off to a birthday dinner in a few.
Enjoy!
-
And - food is here.

Lovely! It's turning into a birthday week.

Page Nine!!!

Just had a six-minute video chat with Rob, Charlotte, and Hannah. They sang “Happy Birthday” to me 🥰

:) Beautiful!
-
Jrand, are there any leftovers from your Burger King Bundle?
-
LOL DR FREDDIE in fact yes. I only ate one Whopper and one medium fry.
So plenty for the rest of the week [end].
-
Nice videos from DR JOHNG and DR ELMORE.
-
No snow yet....we shall see.
-
Pain be gone vibes for MR BK.
I was on pins and needles during the food debacle.
-
I did not get any mail today....so the mailman skipped my house....which means he didn't pick up the card I had on the box for him to TAKE today.
I shall try again tomorrow.
-
Watching The Pirate with Miss Judy Garland.....
-
I fell asleep immediately after eating......and now I am ready to go back to sleep.
-
Off to a birthday dinner in a few.
Enjoy!
Thanks.

We had a short but sweet dinner with our friends. The food and company were good. We went to Beaches as they wanted to go one last time before it closes and that was fine with us. It was very busy, even going early on a week night.
-
Food was filling and therefore I am filled and full, not necessarily in that order.
-
Time for Tylenol. That sounds like a 1950s sitcom.

Puts a whole new meaning on "I Resolve" from She Loves Me:
-
Good night, friends.
-
And others.
-
Watching The Pirate with Miss Judy Garland.....
I love love love that movie.
-
I am home from an excellent dinner.
-
I had chicken-fried quail with a pepper cream sauce. It was preceded by a lovely bibb lettuce salad.
-
Dessert was called Russian ice cream cake. It was alternating layers of chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate ganache and chopped pecans. Totally decadent.
-
It was at a private club that I could never afford to be a member of.
-
Usually the service id impeccable. Tonihht, it was largely excellent, but …
-
Has it become common to serve the man first. Three times tonight, I received my dish before the three women at the table. I didn’t say anything to the staff, but I did say it to my friends, who had noticed it too.
-
Ten!
-
DR JOHNG perhaps Ladies First is passe.
-
My doctor asked me about the extent of my surgery.....and I could not tell him exactly how many feet of my large intestine was removed or how much was left....so he informed me that during today's procedure that he might investigate it.
Judging by the time I have spent in the bathroom since I came home.....and the residue of lotion on the back door....he probably should have taken me to dinner first.
-
Wednesday turning into Thursday.
TCM is showing some interesting films this evening.
-
Started a movie called Boiling Point, about a London kitchen on a busy night. It’s not very good, but it is surprisingly accurate.
-
Gratuitous post 275!
-
DR JOHNG perhaps Ladies First is passe.
The title of my next novel.
-
DR JOHN G are they in the weeds?
-
How many HHW'ers have ever worked as servers?
-
DR Rodzinski, that upside down read for the answer sounds vagely familiar. I wonder if my kids read those books, or others with the same idea.
Could be. Two-minute Mysteries were in print for a long time through Scholastic Book Services.
-
Turns out today was to prep the bit of tooth that's getting the crown and to take an impression. That's all done now but I won't get the crown until 12/31 at noon.
Hope you’re not in pain and agony again at Midnight to welcome the new year.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night John G!
-
Happy Birthday to Ginny. No matter what, the Wolverines own the *uckeyes!
-
It’s beginning to look a little like Christmas.
-
No snow here, but it’s chilly.
-
DR George I enjoyed your photos from last night.
Thanks, Jane!
-
Thanks to all for the wonderful vibes.

Great news, Jrand!

What??
-
He shot me up with a LOT of Novocain again and really worked on the prep - I didn't feel it then, but now - so much damn pain. I just took an amoxicillin and hopefully that will help. I'll also do Tylenol in about ten minutes.
Yikes!! :o
-
I thought the pain from the abscess was going to be horrible but it was NOTHING compared to right now.

I didn't make the connection that he was in that production of Company. I remember that he had been in Fellow Travelers (which I never watched), but not Company.

Gratuitous Post #303!!!

I asked Alexa to play O Holy Night and some Christmas hymns. She played Johanna from Sweeney Todd.
:))

Wow! Hopefully, you'll get it back sooner!!

When did Uber get so damn expensive? Won't be doing THAT a lot, let me tell you.
I've never used Uber. My friend Margo has, and had only good experiences, but I don't know how she felt about the price.
-
Pain is finally lessening. I'll do more Tylenol later. Oh, and dentist was AMAZED at how much better my gums were - no bleeding at all today.
Congrats, BK!

I'm shtayin', I'm shtayin', and you, you're gonna love me.

What's the quote...something like, "I would never (want to?) join a club that would have me as a member." :D

What am I, Dreamgirls all of a sudden?

That's weird. :-\
-
Did you actually order first? Most times that I've been in groups, whoever had their order taken first usually got served first.
-
My doctor asked me about the extent of my surgery.....and I could not tell him exactly how many feet of my large intestine was removed or how much was left....so he informed me that during today's procedure that he might investigate it.
