Well, you've read the notes, the notes marched into March, and now it is time for you to post until the marching March cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INSPIRING!
-
Congrats on the surprise package from Sony Germany, BK! That's really cool!

Had a little of the Panera creamy tomato soup left, so am having that now.

It's really not that bad.

This is funny...well, it is to me. BK, I was curious about what you had previously written about Eugene Ormandy, so I searched his name in the Search BK's Notes Archive box.
The first link was from March 12, 2024 (http://www.haineshisway.com/2024/03/the-return-of-ormandy-the-columbia-stereo-years/), almost exactly one year ago. Aside from writing about the "Eugene Ormandy, The Columbia Stereo Years 1957-1963, 88 CDs," you also mentioned this:
Getting these into the computer to listen to is a bit of an ordeal – the CD drive only works on my laptop, so I have to use a hard drive, get everything on the hard drive and then from there get it into Music. The good news is that whenever I get a new computer, the drive will work and I can cut out all those stupid, unnecessary steps. Of course, who knows when I’ll be getting a new computer?
And in today's notes, you wrote:
Oh, and I’m not uploading these to the Music folder – too cumbersome a project that takes way too much time. When I get a new computer, the CD drive will work properly and uploading is a breezy breeze.
-
So, BK, when are you getting a new computer?? ;D
-
You certainly deserve one.
-
And now, I'm off to bed. I need to get up early for a day of driving and hiking.
Have a good day, all!
-
George, hoping you enjoy your day of driving and hiking! Sounds like a lot of fun.
-
vixmom, I really enjoyed your report of the concert last night and the new CD acquisitions!
-
John G, your dinner last night sounds amazing!
-
BK, it's great that the more important envelope came yesterday, at least!
-
Also the acquisition of the package with the CDs! It should be a lot of great listening.
-
TOD: In non-candy snacks, a favorite for many years had been the various flavors of Combos, mainly the round pretzels with a cheese filling.
Also, the various flavors of Pringles. They could get quite inventive with their flavors.

Notes Ormandy’d. Fidler’d.

Comfortable shoes and socks, George!

Every now and then I have a craving for chips and dip, the dip made of sour cream and Lipton onion soup mix.
Fortunately I almost always have both those ingredients on hand.
Aldi and Lidl both carry reasonably priced large bags of thick cut wavy chips, perfect for dipping, ( the name brands have gotten ridiculously overpriced for underpacked bags of air and a handful of chips) and I try to keep a bag of those in the house.
-
I wonder why I don’t lose weight?
-
Good morning, all!
-
BK, I am green with envy over that Sony package. I've been craving the new Ormandy set since I saw it in Gramophone. I'm also craviong the other two Ormandy sets. When I was a teenager, my three favorite conductors were Ormandy, Arthur fiedler, and Antal Dorati, and I think they remain my favorites.
-
Congratulations to BK on 151000 +
-
I had a rough first night of sleep, then everything calmed down after 1:00. When the alarm rang at 5:30, I was dreaming that I was sitting on a hillside overlooking a body of water while Robert Kimball and his wife Abby and a young boy - the Kimballs have two children - were fishing while we discussed a project.
-
When the alarm rang at 5:30, I turned it off, went back to bed, cuddled with Thatch and Annabelle, and when I decided it was time to rise, it was 7:00. I must have slept for a bit as well.
-
This morning, my big errand is to cart the trash and recyclables to the basement. After that, I'm taking it easy.
-
Also congratulations on the important envelope and the surprise Ormandy

I enjoyed DR VIXMOM's words about the concert she and Judy Collins gave last night. I am sure DR VIXMOM's front row performance will also get raves.

Rehearsal vibes for MR BK & Co.

DR singdaw there was all kinds of food - it was a bonanza! I am not sure about Cu euchre cumber sandwiches....but I wouldn't be surprised.

It is 32 degrees here - and that is as warm as it will get.

Two of my sisters and I will be at the Pathway To Crystals from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today.

DR vixmom, I love Judy Collins! Around 2003 or 2004, when I left Barnes & Noble, I ran into her one day amnd had the chance to tell her what an inspiration she has been in my life since 1967 or so. She's a beautiful lady.
-
LOL DR FREDDIE....I love that scene!

When I was a college freshman, I was courted by the Young Republicans to become a member of the cult. Thanks to Judy Collins and the Chad Mitchell Trio, whom I credit for opening my mind and political thinking, I decided I wanted to be a Democrat.

Finally, a great night of sleep.
Not for me. Last night was beautiful, so we sat outside. Well, oak pollen has started. I couldn’t go to sleep because of some breathing issues, so I listened to more of my book. The heroine got raped by her BIL, and her sister didn’t believe her. Where is the uplift? Maybe by the end.

I liked my breakfast so much yesterday I decided to have it again, with a few tweaks

Sautéed mushrooms, sliced sweet peppers, halved cherry tomatoes, seasoned with Penzey's Sunny Paris.
Spread fresh avocado on seeded rye toast, topped with sautéed veggies and two steamed eggs.
Finished with Penzeys smoked Spanish paprika

I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep.

Just a little over one hour left in this book. It’s lightening up at last. But it’s strange. The jacket said I’ll be laughing and crying. I haven’t laughed yet. I’m glad it will end soon. I did feel for the heroine, but it’s been a slog.

All e-mails dealt with.

Mostly by putting them into the trash.

One irritating text.
-
Will shave and shower in about twenty minutes.
-
Looking forward to assembling act two and then running scenes and numbers.
-
We're missing one actor today, and one comes two hours late and one leaves two hours early - we're not happy about any of this, since ONLY the missing actor had that on their conflicts.
-
Welcome to Taco Bell!

Vixmom, you can come to my house and make that for me any time.

Though I’m probably capable.

Episode three of season two is uglier than anything in season one. Not sure how much ugliness I can handle when the orange one surpasses it all.

So, I have a new deep-dish pie pan and want to make an apple and dried cranberry pie. But what do I want to plump the cranberries, but with what? Bourbon? Calvados? An orange liqueur? Hibiscus tea?

morning afternoon evening, all.

I left the house at 8 am and have just gotten back from a Little Mermaid band reading which Alan Menken dropped into for a minute*, and from yet another stunning production at WCSU ("WestConn") of Sunday in the Park With George where I was able to say a quick hi to Peter Filichia, their guest for the talkback.
So it was a pretty fine day, but now I have to scrounge something to eat and look through all the music I have to play for a church service tomorrow. I believe no celebrity guests are expected at the church service.
*Would I make that up? The choral director at this school knows loads of Broadway folks, and Menken apparently lives within spitting distance of the school, so he came by to say hi to the cast and encourage them. He won't see the show, he'll be in London.
-
I had just time to say a quick hello to Filichia on his way out the door. He though he recognized me, but I told him we'd only met once before, at BK's book signing at the Drama Book Shop in 2012. He remembered that day. I also said I'd just enjoyed rereading his complete write-up on Drat! The Cat! He's so personable, and he seemed to appreciate that. He's so great to listen to, too, and he had plenty of great things to say about the production of Sunday.
-
DR Chas I enjoyed reading about your very nice day.

Back from assembling act two - a bit rougher than act one, but we'd worked that more. We got through it all and I had enough time to run the entire act from finish to start, sharpen everything, give direction, so that was fun.

After that, I had a chicken fried steak at Coral Cafe. Excellent.

I think I'll actually try and watch a motion picture now.

Chicken fried steak at the Coral Cafe,

And mashed potatoes you must finish or your cheatin '!
