Well, you've read the notes, the notes were designed and run-through, and now it is time for you to post until the designed cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FEASIBLE!
-
From last night,:
Freddie, I did see that Gianmarco Soresi interview! :D

Vixmom, your photos last night were great! Especially this one:

And congrats on this one:

Topic of the Day: chicken fettuccine Alfredo, the Red Wagon chicken sandwich (one of the best in town!). Other grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches at various fast food joints/quick service restaurants.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept poorly. I can blame the time change for some of it, but I have a pinched nerve that causes problems with my left hand, and last night, around 1:30, the pain was intense.
-
This morning, I have a trip to the basement and mail boxes. After I make the bed, I need to vacuum.
-
DR vixmom, 3rd prize is fantastic! I notice in your photos that your Snow White costume looks like nothing I've ever seen you wear before. Did your tailor run this up at your request or was this assembled from (shudder!) things in your wardrobe?
-
At last! The IRS Refund site has posted this on my inquiry: We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.
WTF? Last year, I was audited and didn't see a refund until June. Are these asses auditing me again?
-
I hope not, DR elmore3003.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And others.
-
Monday. A new work week.
-
LOVED all your photos, DR vixmom. What fun!
-
And congratulations on your prize! Sounds like it might be hard to re-create your recipe.

Good morning to everyone.

Good morning, all.
-
Monday. Rhymes with Sunday. And Fun Day.
Doesn’t rhyme with Spring Forward. And yet…
-
Great chili photos, vixmom, and congratulations!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I shall be dining at the Harmonia Gardens tonight.
-
I still want my hour back.
-
Maybe I’ll order the chicken.
-
Two!
-
TOD: Roast chicken with butter under the skin to make it nice and crackley. You could put slivers of black truffle under the skin for added deliciousness. Serve it with pommes Anna or Greek potatoes.
-
According to the notes I got last night, it seems they want just “the pianist” to play the interludes in the Waiters Galop so that the conductor can more easily cue the start of the fast sections.
And they seem to be adding one more interlude. Because … I guess, why not?
And they’re cutting most of the Finale Ultimo reprises. Actually, make that all of them. Just a quick restatement of the title song, and we can rush for the doors.
Tonight will be interesting. But it’ll be a damned vacation after that mermaid thing.
-
Fried chicken is also a favorite. Just about any way you want to season it. I love Popeyes spicy. And I like it plain with salt, pepper and flour, the way Oscar Hijuelos describes it in The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love.
-
vixmom, thanks for sharing such great photos in last night's posts!
And congratulations on your prize!
-
TOD: Skip's fried chicken and fried chicken cutlets are my favorites, even better than any restaurant I can recall having.
From restaurants:
General Tso's chicken from Ollie's is one of my favorite restaurant chicken dishes.
Fast food: Chicken is something that even fast food places seem to do well, as long as it hasn't been sitting under their lamps getting dried out. Even Burger King, which can be inconsistent, makes a consistently nice chicken sandwich and very good chicken tenders.
-
Good morning.
-
I got up at the same time this morning, but it was an hour later!
-
Great pictures. Congrats to DR VIXMOM!
-
TOD:
I also like chicken alfredo.....and just about any fast good chicken sandwich, but especially those from Wendy's and Burger King.
-
I am preparing some chicken breasts and fries for today & tomorrow.
In a moment of coincidence.
-
ZOOM meeting vibes for MR BK.
-
DR CHAS SMITH plays those damned Interludes.
-
At last! The IRS Refund site has posted this on my inquiry: We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe.
WTF? Last year, I was audited and didn't see a refund until June. Are these asses auditing me again?
Actually, there are fewer "asses" employed who can do your returns within a normal timeframe. Elon Musk fired so many that there will be major delays for everyone.
-
I got up at the same time this morning, but it was an hour later!
I relate! My going-to-bed and getting-up time has remained steady, but the clock is saying I'm an hour late for each.

Wordle in five.

TOD: Roast chicken with butter under the skin to make it nice and crackley. You could put slivers of black truffle under the skin for added deliciousness. Serve it with pommes Anna or Greek potatoes.
Add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary under that skin for a truly scrumptious flavor.
-
Maybe I’ll order the chicken.
Try a turkey with beets on the side. You can have a Dolly-Horace moment!

It is another gray day in the CSRA.
The geese are still using the pond and my yard for their incessant mating rituals.
I expect a bumper crop of goslings will be traipsing through my yard within a month or so.

DR RON PULLIAM my cousin's husband uses one of these and it is very effective.

The idea that the Democrats are paying people to disrupt Republican Town Halls is ridiculous.
For one thing, yes YOUR views ARE that UNPOPULAR! Get out of D.C. and talk to the people.
And for another thing, who thinks the Democrats have any money to do that?
-
TOD: One of my favorite dishes to cook at home is spice-rubbed chicken: broiled chicken rubbed with olive oil, kosher salt, and one of the spice rubs from Chris Schlesinger's License to Grill cookbook, usually served with lemon rice. I also love chicken paprikash and finally made a really good one a couple weeks ago.

Interesting. I know the guy who cuts my grass would appreciate this as he hates all the poopage they leave behind.
Johnston is a bird sanctuary and we have a lot of avian life hereabouts.
Except for the springtime mating, which can begin as early as 3 a.m., geese don't bother me at all.
-
Someone alert MAGA that it is raining cats and dogs in Johnston SC right now. So, if they are missing any, the immigrants didn't eat them.

TOD:
I also like chicken alfredo.....and just about any fast good chicken sandwich, but especially those from Wendy's and Burger King.
I'm in the mood for some fast food chicken, all of a sudden.
-
I should do something about that.
-
But first, we MUST get to page 3 before noon (Eastern time and Daily Savings Time)
-
It might be possible.
-
Page Three!

It is 58 degrees here headed for 65 degrees.
The windows are open.

DR Vixmom your photos from the chili contest were fun to see.
-
Vixmom, I love the photo of you!
-
And congrats on winning 3rd place :)
-
I suppose the photo of the Bishop isn't exactly fun, however, he is colorful :)
-
Oh, God, the noise! There's been construction wqork outside the apartment since 9:00 this morning, and the cats have been jumpy and unsettled. Around 12:30 Con Edison finally sent an email telling us they will be working on West 82nd Street all week, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

When I was young chicken paprika was a real treat. I liked pineapple sweet & sour chicken at Chinese restaurants.
-
Chicken noodle soup is a blessing on so many levels. And a soup not praised enough.
-
Time for a nap.

I'd almost forgotten that Purim is getting really close. Talk of chicken soup reminded me it's almost time for hamantaschen for some reason.
"When is Purim in 2025? It begins in the evening on Thursday, March 13th, 2025, through Friday, March 14th, 2025, on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar. "

How does L.A. theater work in terms of when press comes? If you needed to have a few previews before press started to attend, will the local press cooperate with that?

Some press is coming opening night - prior to that, we have two previews and an invited dress.

I forgot about Panda Express! I really like their Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, and (even though the local PE doesn't have it anymore) their Black Pepper Chicken.

If you pay quarterly Federal estimated taxes (as opposed to taxes being withheld by the payer) and find you're waiting too long for a significant refund at the mercy of the IRS schedule pretty much every year - maybe you can ask your accountant whether you're possibly paying in too much in quarterly estimated taxes?
-
Some press is coming opening night - prior to that, we have two previews and an invited dress.
Again, hoping all goes well with your lighting designer conversation today.
Had he let you know before you hired him that he wouldn't be available until now?

The paragraph reading "I believe the studios selected music to which they already owned publishing rights and had music re-recorded outside the U.S. It is only a supposition on my part, but it's possible that is what happened with Screaming Mimi. Here are liner notes by Bruce Kimmel to the soundtrack of 1958's I Married a Monster from Outer Space, which tell a similar story."

Freddie, if you want to respond to the ATC post - yes, they reused movies all the time at Columbia. I think there may be another B-movie that uses On the Waterfront. Also of interest - when the film came out, a young whippersnapper was writing movie reviews for Films in Review magazine and reviewed Bernstein's score, and was very taken with it. The young whippersnapper was someone named Stephen Sondheim.

Gratuitous Post #102!! ;D

Started watching Marion Davies and Gary Cooper in Operator 13. I am sitting slack-jawed at the sheer horror of it all. Davies plays a spy for the Union during the Civil War. She’s in blackface and speaks in a kind of Stepin Fetchit accent. I have lasted 15 minutes. But I think a Japanese horror flick might be less frightening.
-
There’s still 93 ahead of me in line for Ina Garten’s memoir.
-
Goke, Body Snatcher ffom Hell is hilariously bad.
-
Had a nice 2 hour zoom visit with the kids.
-
And a nice hour long in person visit with WFO before that

Watching our chances of retirement disappear daily, we’ve lost several years of savings in the past few days
-
Today I saw some people doing work on the lot across the street. They had a kind of dirt-sifting screen. So I realized they were archaeologists who have to come check out any property under development to make sure there are not tribal remains. I thought, hey, that’s a story my readers might enjoy, so I went and interviewed them. They were so nice, a girl and guy fresh out of George’s alma mater, Western Washington U., working their dream gig.
-
Of course, the laws that protect tribal lands will probably be wiped out ere long.

And how is the great Mr. Orr?

Been reading the kids the first Hardy Boys book. It’s probably been revised since its original edition. I enjoy the milieu and detailed writing, but the mystery is ridiculously convoluted.
-
My late brother must’ve had 20 of those hardcovers. This is my first time reading one.
-
The kids are enjoying it though. The evil “Hobo Johnny” has just trapped the boys in a water tower.
-
I certainly enjoyed the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew mysteries on TV.
-
Pamela Sue Martin. Where’s she been the last 30 years? I had a little crush back in the day.
-
2 of my older sisters crushed on Shaun.
One other was into Parker.
-
We had to own 2 copies of Shaun’s debut LP so they wouldn’t fight over the “kissable” poster.
-
Intermission.

What young mystery novels did the mystery fans of HHW enjoy?
-
I was a fan of the Happy Hollisters, myself. I still have some of those, passed down from cousins.
-
“Alfred Hitchcock’s Three Investigators” was a good kids series I’m surprised hasn’t made its way back into the culture.
-
If you find this all a snooze and a bore
Know that I’m merely attempting to get one page more
-
In reading the Hardy Boys books aloud to my kids, this shameless ham encounters one problem.
-
There is no discernible difference between Joe and Frank Hardy. So I can’t use a distinguishing voice for either. It simply does not matter.
-
There’s still 93 ahead of me in line for Ina Garten’s memoir.
Yikes! :o
-
I do have, aside from one of my sisters’ Shaun Cassidy records, an LP by a ‘60s pop group that co-opted the Hardy Boys name.

-
She really liked him while growing up back in the 70s ;) AND they have the same birthday of September 27 (different year, of course).
-
On that Shaun debut LP, is the song “Morning Girl,” a remake of the hit by the Neon Philharmonic. A group really a vehicle for one interesting cat named Tupper Saussy.

Tupper was a composer, jazz musician, artist, grifter… conspiracy nut ahead of his time. He would likely be running a govt agency were he still alive today.
