Last night, I came home and watched some YouTube short vids, then watched some Twitter (currently known as X) vids and just kept watching which caused me to lose track of time. ::)

And the answer is YES - the author of the fan letter is still around and, as it turns out, we'd corresponded on Facebook since 2012. Last correspondence was when she watched all the episodes of Sami.

We had a good show last night!  It was the Pay-What-You-Can night, and while we didn't have a large crowd, it also wasn't the smallest.  However, they thoroughly enjoyed the show!  We had a few bigger laughs than any previous night, so that's good.  Only three shows left, then I'll be dedicated to Into the Woods!

I slept well until 5:00. I suddenly became overwhelmed by al, and Thatch is saitting in the small Amazon carton I opened last night. I don't know where Stella might be, but she'll turn up when I clean up their breakfast dishes for a few more bits of tuna.

On March 27, I sent my doctor a list of prescription refills I needed. I used to be able to deal with all of this online, and suddenly one day half of my meds vanished from my online chart. So now I must message my doctor to get refills. The pharmacy delivered everything they had, only two medications were missing. My pharmacy confirmed they did not get prescriptions, so I checked my original list I sent to my doctor and the missing two were on it. I doubt my doctor was behind the error, but it just pisses me off.

Jesse Green's New York Times review of SMASH on Broadway is an out-and-out rave.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/10/theater/review-smash-musical.html
"Review: In a Musical Comedy Makeover, ‘Smash’ Lives Up to Its Name
En route to Broadway, the TV series about backstage shenanigans and Marilyn Monroe has been rejiggered, with the same great songs but a whole new plot."

Wonderful story by Rodzinski of The Sound of Music then WW2 as bedtime stories.

Sounds like a play (maybe funny, maybe powerful, maybe both) could be made of a parent starting off telling one story and winding up at the other.

DR Jrand74, there's a FB page called Old Movie Newspaper and Print Ads From Around the World. It's amusing enough, mainly when someone posts an image from a time and place that you knew as a moviegoer. I'm mentioning it here because there have been several good pages posted from the Indianapolis Star, e.g. in 1974.

And now I must take my leave. A young lady's voice lesson awaits.

I wish she had a bit more age and vocal strength, but she is what she is, which is a college junior, and it's a nice little lineup of songs. I think her recital next week will take no more than around 45 minutes, for seven songs and a bit of commentary on her part. Senior recitals have to get more serious, but this will be pleasant enough.

Lemon Pickers Needed (recent newspaper ad)

Sally Mulligan of Coral Springs , Florida, read it. She decided to apply for one of the jobs that most Americans are not willing to do. She submitted her application for a job in a Florida lemon grove, but seemed far too qualified for the job. She has a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan, and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. For several years, she had worked as a social worker, and also as a counsellor.

The foreman studied her application, frowned, and said, "I see you are well educated, and have an impressive resume. However, I must ask, have you had any actual experience in picking lemons?”

"Well, as a matter of fact, I have," she said..."I've been divorced three times, owned two Chryslers, and voted for Trump.”

That's great!

Back - from a MUCH better voice lesson. A world of difference from a week ago when she didn't know everything quite as well and was being rather timid in her singing. This was much more satisfying, and now I can better look forward to seeing how the recital goes.

There's one thing her voice teacher has a bizarre attitude about, and that's teaching the student to give a CLUE to an accompanist, or God forbid if it were a conductor, as to when she's about to start singing something that follows a silence. I was saying how we listen for a breath or watch for body language that tells us when that entrance is coming, but it seemed like the teacher was saying how they teach "silent breaths" or some such... which literally provides no clue as when the next word or note is going to come out of the person's pie hole. Fortunately, in this set of songs there are only two or three places where we need to attack something together. And only one in particular will bug my ASS if we fail at that, but I can't go up against what someone's teacher is instilling in them. Bizarre.

Miracle Whip is vile stuff.
A controversial opinion, I know. But I stand by it.

You're not alone in that opinion, Laura. ;)

Mufasa is billed as a musical, yet there is only 17 minutes of music in a two-hour film. It’s worn out it’s welcome.

Really?  What's the point, then??

Back from a good show under the circumstances.

Cast did a great job, although our leading man is on the tail end of a little head cold, so was a little low energy.

Pianist did a fine job considering. He was supposed to be there at 5:45 but didn't arrive until 6:35  because apparently our MD didn't inform him of that. We did run a few things, but basically he was playing the show cold and tended to play everything two clicks too fast. I think we knocked three minutes off the run time.

They really weren't aware of any issues, but there were missing buttons, downbeats, wrong chords and such, but it was all surprisingly smooth and the audience ate it up, show-wise.

Ultimately, that's what's important...the audience's experience. :)
