The only Adele I know was Fred Astaire's sister.

Did she sing?

There's only one recording I know of with her singing. It's a collection of songs from the original Band Wagon that done on the radio. It's been released on CD. It's not a great voice, but not bad.

Really enjoying Wodehouse in Exile. It seems he was unwittingly used by the Nazis while he was in an internment camp. Instead of showing British resolve and humor in the worst of circumstances, he was accused of aiding and abetting the enemy.

Page two?  Really?  I don't recall this being a holiday.

Not officially, but we had an impromptu holiday at work. :-\  I to got work at about 10:15 and at about 10:30, the power went out!  No one knew what happened.  There was no weather issues, so I assumed that there was some sort of accident.

The power was out for a couple of hours before the admin. decided to close the building.  They got word that Puget Sound Energy wouldn't be able to get there until about 12:30 and PSE had no idea how long it would take to fix whatever they found, so because of this, the two-hour threshold for closing the building would be met.  Most people left.  I stayed for the two hours because I had some things to do, but right about 12:15, I decided to leave.  Fortunately, we have "emergency leave" so that we don't have to use vacation time.

Right about that time, the power came on!  HOWEVER, the computer servers didn't.  The last time the power went out, someone said that it took Computer Services more than an hour to get the servers back up, which meant that I still had a legitimate reason to leave and be able to use emergency leave. ;D

So, I left and went to Taco Del Mar for lunch, then went to Costco to get some meatballs and Yoshida sauce for tomorrow's annual holiday potluck!  Then realized that I had forgotten my tablet at work!  I went back to work to get my tablet, the power and the servers were up and running, but I still was able to take the rest of the day off using emergency leave, because I left when it was still not all working.

After all that, I went to my parents' house for, coincidentally, spaghetti and meatballs!  They were good.  My mom also asked if I would buy some flea killer on Amazon for their cat.  Evidently, Henry (the cat) has gotten some fleas during this warm winter.  I ordered what my mom wanted and it'll arrive sometime next week.

I also had to call Comcast for them because somehow their cable box's closed captioning got turned on (not a euphemism) and none of us could figure it out.  It definitely wasn't the TV's closed captioning/subtitles.  It turned out to be a very simple fix, so the call only took about a minute...and I didn't have to wait very long to speak with someone, either.  It's easy enough to remember how to fix it if it happens again.  I just can't figure out how it could've been turned on in the first place.

If IHOP is having a two-for-one special on their buckwheat cakes or French toasted English muffins, no one bothered to tell me about it.

I went to IHOP just last night!  No one there told me, either.  >:(

I am wearing my new computer glasses!! That may not seem like a big deal, but getting new glasses after my surgeries has proven to be extremely difficult. I seem to be in a bureaucratic black hole. I STILL don't have the authorization for my progressives (driving glasses), even though it's been almost a month of active pursuit. It's quite maddening. Everything that could possibly go wrong seems to have done so. The only reason I have the computer glasses is that I paid for them myself. They're from Warby Parker, my first purchase from an online optician. Without glasses I have had to move my laptop a few inches closer to me. With glasses I need to move it further away. But we're getting there.
I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow to do more testing of the Toric lens. I have some questions for him, too. I'll be very glad when I finally have glasses and can close this chapter.

Vibes to DR DanM that all goes smoothly at his check-up tomorrow.

Thanks DR Jeanne! I am trying not to be nervous. (I keep thinking it's tomorrow, but it's Weds.)

BTW, I have a new annoying upstairs neighbor. Really very much the same type as before with the benefit that they kick out any guests by 11 p.m. Other than that, they're still a bit annoying. The REALLY annoying ones just transferred to another unit in the same development.

They kept the same parking spot which is next to mine. After they moved, the guy's girlfriend was getting too comfortable using mine, since it's empty as I do not own a car (too expensive right now).

It made me angry so I complained to the manager's office (one of the agents is a young woman who I've deduced is their friend) and told them that I would not hesitate to have her car towed.

Good for you, Dan!  What's yours is yours!

Well, I need to go to bed now.  Tomorrow at work is our annual holiday potluck (hence, the aforementioned meatballs and Yoshida sauce), and I'd like to get there early enough to partake of the gift exchange.  It ends at 10:00 am, and I usually don't get there until 10:15 or so, so I've missed out the last several years.  I bought a nice gift to bring.  Depending on the weight and wrapping paper of the other anonymous gifts that we all exchange, I might decide to keep what I brought. ;)
