I finally figured out what's playing at the Fox Wilshire and by doing that what year it is.  1967 is the year - the film is The Sand Pebbles - I thought I recognized the style of lettering on the marquee and I finally found a photo of the marquee when Sand Pebbles was playing there, and voila.

And our Stats on Pico was considerably west of Robertson, which I didn't really remember - it was at Pico and Glenville - 9233  Pico, probably about six blocks or so west of Robertson.  There's one-story office building there now.

And here is what has become of my father's restaurant at 3474 W. 8th Street - should be a head on view of "grand opening" - at least they've cleaned it up - I may have to go down there and check it out :)  If you drag the view to the right looking west you'll see a corner yellow building next to a red building - that whole thing was called Carl's Market - there's a beauty salon next to the restaurant - that was a barber shop, where my father got his haircuts once a week.  If you drag to the left the corner building at the other corner was the drugstore where I bought all my paperback books.

"Driving Miss Daisy" with Angela Lansbury and James Earl is on some PBS stations this Friday, the 17th.

My DVR is set!

Could I ask you for a copy, kind sir?

Certainly!

Apparently it's Dorothy Fields' birthday.

Happy Birthday to (the late) Dorothy Fields!

It is hard for me to see this using my Nook.  Next to the drug store was my father's office.  I only see a big building and can't tell if that was his office or if it was the house past it.

Well, that was fascinating - NOT!  twenty minutes ago I was playing on the Internet - and I got the stupid Apple spinning wheel.  It was Finder, which is the entire desktop.  So, I had to force quit and relaunch.  It relaunched and my entire desktop was gone.  Very amusing - NOT!  So I tried to shut down - it wouldn't, so I used the power button.  Then I started it up - it took a full ten minutes to get back up, but thankfully the desktop stuff was all there.  Then immediately I got a thing that said there was a Word update and I truly believe that was what caused everything - I HATE this stuff.  So, I did the update and what should have taken one minute took ten - I was ready to stomp this thing to death - but I went in the other room and started up the laptop because it looked like the Word update was never going to complete.  As soon as I fired up the laptop, it completed.  Things are a big sluggish but it's all working now.  Enough already.
