Well, I need to be going now.  I have to consume some liquid product for my medical procedure tomorrow, and it's probably not going to be pleasant. ::)

Be back later.  I'll pop back in if I can.  I know that I won't be able to tomorrow until the evening.

Have a good rest of the evening, all!

John, it was a very sad occasion, a memorial for a cousin who passed away very young, in her early 30's.  Many beautiful stories in her memory, though, as she would have liked to have been remembered, especially if you believe a spirit is somehow watching.

Condolences to you and your family...

What about me?  I was a memorable Lucy at a camp production, too!

Criterion has released one of the most important films from my teen years, Ermanno Olmi's Tree of the Wooden Clogs, a three-hour study of Italian peasant life in the late 19th century. I don't think I had ever seen anything like it back then, but I was held captive by the simple scenes of peasant life filmed with people from the region.

The library has picked up a copy, and, once again, it's just beautiful to behold. Every detail is perfect. I don't remember much of the story line, except for the butchering of a pig, which was filmed in extensive detail.

These are the people whose stories don't get told in Dickens, Eliot, Trollope or even Balzac. Tolstoy is a little too condescending towards them, and Hardy just made them seem stupid and doomed.

BK, I sure hope the ENT can help you.  I live with recurring tinnitus that comes on with loud noises and sounds like radio static in my right ear.  Our family doctor sent me to an ENT's office, where I only saw a PA or nurse practitioner who basically told me, "Live with it."

I won't watch it all at once. I want to enjoy it over several days.
