I've just been doing stuff on the computer.  Grant got everything to the publisher and, as always, our check-in person couldn't open several files, which is utter nonsense - I downloaded exactly what she got and sent those files to her again, all of which open and display perfectly right in the e-mail.  This has happened every single time and neither Grant nor I understand it.

I started writing the commentary based on the first three songs in the show order, which I haven't finished, so I can't proceed until I do.  This one is very tough.

For the two (or so) people who know "Waving Through a Window" from DEAR EVAN HANSEN, here was my take on Evan Hansen seeing HAMILTON from a crappy seat:

WAITED FOR A DISCOUNT
tune of WAVING THROUGH A WINDOW

[Verse]

I'd learned to look for a break
Saw Wicked from the aisle row E
I knew the right clicks to make
To get the close seats real frugally

Saw the revival of Hair
Half price for center in row J
Will Swensen danced on my chair

And that was something, I’d say

Lucked out, lucked out with each one
I got seats really close
Lucked out, lucked out and had fun
But not this show, so I’m morose

[Chorus]
In the back row I sit looking down

Where I see the glitterati of the town
But I’m stuck, stuck, stuck with a bad seat
’Cause I waited for a discount

I look real hard, that might be Michael Pence
Why would he be here, no that would not make sense
While I'm watch, watch, watching people watch
’Cause I waited for a discount

Oh, I can’t really see, does anybody play to
Mezz row P?

When you sit in side rear mezz
Did you really see the show
Don’t care what anybody says
The answer’s really no
(repeat and build)

Repeat chorus

That's great, Fred!  I love that the first verse has the same rhymes as the original. :D

John, it was a very sad occasion, a memorial for a cousin who passed away very young, in her early 30's.  Many beautiful stories in her memory, though, as she would have liked to have been remembered, especially if you believe a spirit is somehow watching.

My condolences to you and to her family. :(
