The first celebrity deaths that I recall were Jack Benny, Larry Fine, and Moe Howard...all within a few months of each other....I was only in 3rd grade, but I had started reading the newspaper on a regular basis around that time.

Yes, Rodzinksi, you must find THE CULT OF THE COBRA...fun movie and a great cast! And thanks for the nice words about my William Reynolds interview!

DR ANN - I like to play Carmina Burana or some Annette if I want to fall asleep to music.

I don't generally listen to music before I go to sleep...but awhile back when I was having a hard time falling asleep I would often put on some Paul Weston and his Orchestra or Jackie Gleason and his Orchestra....now, thanks to the marvels of modern medicine, I have very little difficulty falling asleep at night! Thank goodness!LOL!

DR Jrand54, I always wanted to live in an apartment building like the cast of FAMILY AFFAIR lived in...however, now I prefer something along the lines of Wilbur and Carol's house on MR. ED....but with different furnishings.

I remember liking George Duning's score as well.  I am looking forward to some reviews of the DVD by DR's.   ;D

Ah, I was thinking of Uncle Bill's apartment as well MB!  LOL....but I also liked the Allbright's apartment in MY LITTLE MARGIE.

The Post's house seemed kind of small to me.  The Clampett house was a bit BIG.   I think I would choose the Cleaver's house (the second one).

I have a question for BK and all the DR's here.  Do any of you fall asleep at night listening to music?  And if so, what are your preferences?

I can't fall asleep if there is too much noise...but once I'm asleep, I pretty much stay asleep.

According to Herman's last interview about it, it's NOT hapopening, with or without Cher until a Broadway revival is mounted. I could be remembering badly, but I think he was not a fan of Cher doing it.

Well, I very muchly hope it gets done, but I'm glad that JH is not a fan of Cher doing it.  I don't know anyone who was. ::)

Budd Boetticher is someone whose reputation has definitely been on the rise. William Reynolds talks about him in MBarnum's interview, in fact.

I still need to see THE TALL T, about which I have heard great things.

I attribute my being a music nut to my falling asleep listening to AM radio a lot as a kid. I would often have dreams in which the songs of the 70s were the soundtrack.

Boetticher's westerns with Randolph Scott are some of the best out there.

There is no more connection between Marc Chapeaux to Charles Pogue than there is Guy Haines to Mr. Kimmel...In fact, unlike Mr. Kimmel who has met Guy Haines, I have never met Marc Chapeaux.  I only know him by reputation.

But the rumour now I hear is that among Monsieur Chapeaux many talents is that he is a famed French chantoozy and will be doing a duet with Mr. Haines on his new album of Flat Foot Floogie...or maybe Alley Cat.

Fellini is a director whose films do absolutely nothing for me....but I am always impressed with directors like Maury Dexter or Fred F. Sears who could usually put out something entertaining without any kind of a budget at all.

BK, I trying to remember if I've seen SEVEN MEN FROM NOW.  Gail Russell and Lee Marvin are vaguely familiar but I don't remember much about it.

I too love RIDE LONESOME (with the blonde with the bombadier boobs) and I like COMANCHE STATION and THE TALL T too (though I still have no idea why it's called the TALL T).  But all of them are good...and they all have great charismatic villains.

I don't recall the judges raving over Carrie, but the one I liked least was Nadia!

The judges loved Carrie, especially Simon. He said that she has a good chance to win it all!

Quote
As to who goes and who stays, I really don't care much for any of them.  I had hopes for Mykalah, but her schtick last night pretty much put me off her.

I think Simon was right on about her.  Half the people will find her endearing. But half will think she is obnoxious.  I cannot decide which group I fit in.  Sometimes I think she is charming.  But last night I find her quite annoying. However at this stage it doesn't matter how many people dislike her.  Because she still has lots of fans.  So as long as America isn't voting people out, she should be safe for quite a while.

Btw, I loved Nadia, she was definitely my fav last night.

They finally got some good music going outside. A guy in a kilt is playing bagpipes while another guy in a kilt is playing a Celtic drum. I looked to see if it was my old buddy, the middle-aged hippie who's been out of work for twenty years, but it wasn't.
Is it windy out?

Seven Men from Now has been virtually impossible to see for over twenty years because it's owned by Batjac, the John Wayne estate.  I believe they've finally made a deal for it to come out on DVD, along with Islands in the Sky and The High and the Mighty.

The pool man has been here, so, weather-permitting, I shall be in the Jacuzzi this very evening.  It's overcast out, but not gray.  And there are patches of blue everywhere, and even some sun peeking through.  How lovely.

Speaking of chopped liver...

(and we were, just not in the last five minutes or so)

Someone had better explain why chopped liver has such a bad rep.  For example, here's a perfectly good recipe for chicken liver mousse.  Go ahead, read it over, we can wait.

Now, given how tasty that recipe sounds, will someone explain why we have a phrase like "What am I, chopped liver," to suggest things of secondary (or lower) quality?

Rumour now has it that the mulit-faceted Marc Chapeaux will be dueting (or is it pirouetting?) with Mr. Guy Haines on that great Irving Berlin classic, "You Keep Coming Back Like a Thong."
