DR DtM - are you sure those aren't the rugs you sold at that yard sale?

I don't think so.  The only time I had a yard was when I lived in a township that forbid yard sales.

I'll bet I'm missing a movie reference here, aren't I?

Congratulations DRMATTH!  Hopefully you will have some wonderful Follies dancers!

There was one real cutie there the night I auditioned, but I don't know any other casting. I'm most curious about who's going to be my son. Talk about a fictional situation! (DR Jane and I were just discussing that impossibility in real life this very afternoon!)

Question for Hollywood-o-philes.
I have Babylons I and II and I would like to know what the general consensus is these days. Generally shoddy in terms of facts? Or more or less well-researched? A lot of it seemed rather sloppy and reliant on innuendo to me. Obviously Anger had good photos, but how close did he stick to facts?

OH, I forgot...Friday night we caught the tail end of SAUCY JACK AND THE SPACE VIXENS on stage next door to the Timblerline. We had gone over to see the drag show (and get free drinks, because the bartender was a friend of James'), but we arrived while the first show was still i progress. It was  hoot! There was one actress in particular, in the show, who I simply adored! She was so cute and very good. After the show she and some of the other cast members were briefly milling around the bar and I talked with her and told her how wonderful she was. She was really sweet! She said she was just in a locally made independed film and she had plans on going to Hollywood!! Bless her little heart!

I told her that she looked just like one of those chorus gals from the 1930 Busby Berkely movies...and you know what...she actually knew what I was talking about, and she loves those movies! LOL! There is hope for this younger generation!

Here she is, Ms. Jessica Skerritt

Rodzinski,

There is a ton of exaggeration in the books and a few actual lies.  And a lot of truth.  Enjoy the books, but don't make up your mind about anyone you read about in the book until you've read a few other sources.

Good Evening!

I'm home.  In Richmond.  And I am simply agog, I tell you.  Simply agog.

THE APARTMENT IS CLEAN!!!!!

The kitchen.  The hallway.  The bathroom.  The living room.  *He even finally put away the stray - and ugly and tacky - Christmas decorations that were still hanging around.

Just agog.

So...

That basically made it worth the drive down 95 - which was nice and easy.

I've just been going through my pile of mail that's accumulated over the past two weeks.  The usual credit card offers and stuff.  Nothing noteworthy, but I guess that's a good thing.

Whcih reminds me - We watched "Sophisticated Ladies" last night. (No! It was not a collection of some of the HHW DRs).  It was very enjoyable indeed - particularly after the "flat" "Tintypes".

And Tony Walton's set design was wonderful.

DR Rodzinski, anyone who quotes Uncle Al (as in Aleister Crowley) in his epigraphs should be taken with at least a little sprinkle of salt.  However, if you're in a properly bitchy mood, the Babylon books can be quite a bit of fun.  Great pictures, one way or the other.

JR gave you the correct information on the quote, MS.

I got the phone call tonight offering me the role of Georges in a local production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, so I'm going to be busy learning lines for the next few weeks. (I'd already learned all the music in preparation for the audition in case we were asked to sing something from the score. I did have to sing "Song on the Sand.")

Congrats, DR Matt!  A much better phone call than mine.

Made it through most of Act I of Pajama Game tonight with the student musicians.   I only got seriously confused with my button pushing once, in a song where I have four patches to access.  Should be fine by opening next week.

And as I was preparing to tape Desperate Housewives last night, there was a Lost promo saying the 2 hour season finale is Wednesday.  Can that be right?

And I was able to chat a bit with Steve before he headed for bed...  He'll be moving into his new condo this weekend, and I'll most likely be helping him out.  And I get to keep any boxes I help unpack! -And I'm gonna need some boxes!

DR MS - what makes you think any response I would give would be movie-related?  :)

DR KERRY I loved your switchboard story - which referenced one of the funniest scenes Ms. Rosalind Russell EVER did - and that is saying something to be sure!

DRMBARNUM - why did I just know that his most recent theatrical experience would be NOT "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" with Miss Kathleen Turner, but "Saucy Jack & the Space Vixens" with Miss Jessica Skerritt!  Probably a much more enjoyable choice!

DtM, we got a whole series of phone calls from a lady in Denmark who was trying to track down some long lost relatives.  All she knew was that her grandmother had been raised by someone in Oregon named Kauffman.  We were (obviously) the wrong people, but it was a very interesting connection.

Now here's the killer punchline:
as I was typing this, Betsy, who is Queen of Clutter, went into our bedroom for a moment and returned with a letter from the lady in a manila folder labelled "Danish Kauffman."  The fact that this was the one readily accessible piece of paper that Betsy could find on a dime is funnier than I can possibly express.

I am really enjoying this Kyu Sakamoto CD...he had a lot of hit singles, evidently, aside from Sukiyaki....although all the inserts and the song titles are written in Japanese, so I have no idea what the names of the songs are.

DR Hisaka, do you remember Kyu Sakamoto?

DR Rodzinski, I just checked my the copy of RAGE OF THE WEREWOLF that you sent me and it seems to play just find...and it looks like it will be a fun movie! Who is the lead actor that you work with in this film? He is interesting.

And after I finish watching it, if you would like to DVD back (since your copy isn't working) just let me know.

That copy is yours to keep, no sweat. I have a couple here. The lead guy is Santo Marotta. He financed the thing and took his role EXTREMELY seriously.

I like Sukiyaki and the b-side of the single. That's all I ever heard from Kyu, who died a tragic death in an airplane.

When I first looked at the picture I thought it had a toilet in it! I was trying to figure it out and finally came to the conclusion that it must double as toilet drain cleaner. ;-)

Jose, I remember you said that they were about ready to switch out the costumes so I was wondering how much it would cost me to get those final disco outfits for Halloween this year. ;-)
