Spent a lovely few hours with Miss Juliana A. Hansen - we lunched and we had fun catching up.  She took home her rehearsal CD and now I am back in Leoneland with For a Few Dollars More, which looks swell.

Well... "American Idol" is over...

That one "stunt" was truly mean!

But as for the final result...

Dean Stockwell gives a great young adult performance in the underrated SONS AND LOVERS.

Thanks, DR Rodzinksi.  Although, the credit must go to you since you were the photographer.  I was just the subject.

:)

You're right, I hadn't thought of that. Good job, me!

Hey BK- Here's a question:
Sometimes Fox Movie Channel shows films and the credits are letterboxed, then the  movie begins and the movie then fills the whole screen. Why would this be?

This why I heard that My WHite Night was dropped from the film. Wilson and Loesser had a falling out and he refused permission for the song to be in the film and this is why Being In Love was written in its place.

I always assumed it was because the producers wanted an original ballad that could qualify for an Academy Award.  It didn't get nominated, though.

Your version makes more sense.

I happened across just the beginning of IDOL. Forget the fact that Ryan Seacrest got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that most dubious of "honors", but the tune written by John Farrar for the whole gang to sing was monumentally horrific, and I'm a John Farrar fan. It actually borrowed lines from Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This". Can't someone write better songs for these kids to sing?

He was quite moving in "Long Day's Journey Into Night," too!

I just read on Playbill.com that Producers of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Sow Seeds of Score by Giving Away 50,000 Cast Albums April 27-May 31!!

According to the article, From 11:30 AM-1 PM on April 27, the show's composer and complete cast will be autographing free copies of the new CD in front of the Imperial Theatre for anyone who stops by.

and:

The special CD will not include the booklet of the later CD, and will not have three bonus tracks expected on the commercial cast album.

Is there is anyone who will be in New York during this time who will be willing and able to pick up one for someone who lives in Olympia, Washington (namely, ME)??  I'd certainly pay for shipping, packaging, etc.  I could trade something, I'm sure.  Private replies, of course! ;)

They show the credits letterboxed because there is no way to pan-and-scan them like the rest of the film.  It's a shame they don't retire all these old pan-and-scan masters.

Comcast.net has already announced who lost tonight...and it was posted 31 minutes ago!  Not that I watch at all, but that's not right.

DRGEORGE when we went to see STOMP and sat in the third row, all the sweeping and stomping sent so much dust flying into the air, I was coughing and sneezing - and I wasn't the only one.

I guess that's why sometimes, like in SKI PARTY years ago, when the credits were full screen, all the actors behind the words were tall and skinny like pencils.  ;D

I certainly had no problem with the person who went home tonight on IDOL. Has never been one of my favorites and thought this singer was given way too much credit for mediocre or worse performances.

Didn't think the countdown to elimination was mean at all. They did it in three groups of three last season with the top 9 finishers. I LOVED that. Helped really put the popularity of the singers into a vivid perspective.

I have never heard that "Being in Love" was added to THE MUSIC MAN to garner an Oscar nomination. Only half the song is new anyway.

And it didn't happen that new songs added to old Broadway scores got nominations until the new title song in FUNNY GIRL got nominated. Had it ever happened prior to 1968?

I finished the last 40 minutes of THE PRIVATE LIVES OF ELIZABETH AND ESSEX today, and there is one close-up of Flynn that is so badly out of registration that I thought my eyesight was going bad.

DVD really does show up transfer problems in VERY clear fashion.

EYES continues to be surprising and fun. I just wish more folks were watching it. At this rate, I can't ABC renewing it (or BLIND JUSTICE, but I don't watch it).

DtM - Marilyn has a couple of good moments, but Ginger is just too much!  And it's one of my least favorite Cary Grant movies - almost a parody of himself.

What do you want to know about it?  I know everything about it.  I was invited to a screening last week but couldn't go, so I'm going to trek over to the Nuart if I have a chance.  They put back a lot of cut stuff (according to the cutting continuity script) and they had the film rescored by a new composer, who, my friend Nick tells me, did a great job in making it sound like a true Peckinpah film.  The Amfitheatrof score has always grated.  Nick says the added footage still doesn't make it a great film, but it does make it a better film.
