Topic: PERFECTLY PERFECT MARCH (Read 42311 times)

Had a friend drop by wanting to listen to A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Totally unfamiliar with it (can there be such a person connected with theater who didn't know this score? Well, there was but no more! Naturally, he was astonished to find out "Send in the CLowns" came from this score).

The local auditions for the show are a week from Sunday, so he wanted to hear it to see if he wanted to bother trying out. He's probably going to go with me to the auditions but isn't sure now if he's going to audition or not.

Then, I proceeded to catch up with the last two episodes of CSI: NY which I hadn't been able to watch.

Last week's episode concerned a death in a doll hospital. (Yep, you read that right). Good episode and a surprising killer.

Jose, the two Weird Romance songs have been published in the songbook, but it's now out of print. I have it. I looked on Amazon.com and someone is trying to sell it for $73.79!!

And two of my favorite duets: "Beauty That Drives a Man Mad" from Sugar (although I do prefer, and have actually performed, the version that was used in the London production of Some Like It Hot...we had it transcribed from the recording

) and "We Are Women" from Candide.

There are also the Singer's Musical Theatre Anthology Duets books.

Last night's two crimes were certainly unusual.

One was set at an exotic food party where such gourmet dishes as fried tarantulas and broiled centipedes were among the dishes consumed. (It was death by octopus in this case.)

The other involved water gun wars (instead of paint gun wars which I was familiar with.)

The birth mother let the doctor into the shop. The door was locked from the outside, but could be opened from the inside. When the doctor left, the door locked behind her.

Plenty of shops have doors like these!

MattH... I had a horrible time trying to watch last night's CSI... it was disgustingly awful... peopel paying $10,000 to eat what should be remioved by an exterminator?!!! And as for eating a live anything... part from how disgusting it is its also cruel!!

I completely agree with you. I had to turn away with all of those "goodies" whether they were eating them or not.

THE AMAZING RACE ratings, BTW, were down 17% from the same premiere a year ago on basically the same date. Of course, the competition was not the same a year ago.

As for Elliot, he was really good last night and he has a nice sweet personality. But there is something about the way he looks that needs to go. I can't quite put my finger on it. His clothes are nice. Maybe it's his buzz haircut with his ears sticking out. Or maybe it's the funny bangs in the front of his hair. Or his teeth. But he just doesn't look like i think the winner needs to look. And i'm not sure if he can get the fan support.

Maybe it's the overwhelming talent he possesses that sets him apart. He definitely doesn't belong in the competition because he's much better than any of the others, including Chris!

It's currently 39 degrees in Frederick, MD.
