The funeral of the miner killed in the quake will be held today - the rescued miners will be attending.

Richard Carlton was indeed one of the best known, and at times controversial, journalists in OZ. It's a pity he will be remembered for his last question - inappropriate and the worst aspect of "Sixty Minutes" style TV journalism.

Okay, folks, my day at the library is coming to an end. I passed up margaritas and salsa with DR Ginny and Richard because I have to be sobert tomorrow morning when I take my dad to hospital for some sort of scan. Unless all hell breaks loose, I'll be posting tomorrow afternoon.

Ben, yes, thank you, I did see the story in this morning's newspaper. I never had the chance to meet Ms. Asplund. I believe she was going to be at the reception in Boston that was cancelled when the large hull piece broke free and sank again back in 1996. I only had the chance to meet two of the survivors of the Titanic. Hard to believe that we are still discussing the Titanic after 94 years. There was a period in the the Thirties and the Forties where the ship and the sinking were all but forgotten.

Actually, it was the late author, Walter Lord, who refocused attenition on the sinking of the Titanic with his masterpiece A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. I am very pleased to have a leather-bound hardback edition that was personally signed by Mr. Lord.
