Gay cinema seems to be in the midst of yet another renaissance, but out actor Craig Chester is no neophyte to its evolution. In the early ‘90s, Chester could be seen in groundbreaking work suchas “Swoon,” “Grief,” “Frisk” and the now classic “Kiss Me, Guido.” However, just in time for GLBT film’s post-New Queer Cinema revival, Chester wrote, directed and stars in the relentlessly fun and endearing gay romantic comedy “Adam & Steve.”

If Woody Allen were gay, this is the sort of comedy the filmmaker, never sheepish about showing the social insecurity being Jewish often brings, would create. But in his work, Chester transfers the Jew-Gentile idiosyncrasies common to heterosexual celluloid relationships to that of a gay male couple.

With a stellar cast, the film, recently released to DVD, is as star studded (Chris Kattan, Sally Kirkland, Parker Posey) as it’s hilarious. Brought to us courtesy of local company TLA Releasing, the DVD features a hearty selection of special features — the most amusing a gag reel and more deleted scenes that can be viewed with or without director commentary.

(With luck might get to have Jose join us for a meal.)

LYNCHBURG, Virginia — Amid boos and shouts of "traitors!" Randolph-Macon Woman's College officials announced Saturday that men would be admitted to the 115-year-old institution starting in 2007.

In the eyes of the board of trustees, going coed could help stabilize the school's finances as interest in all-women schools wanes.

But when officials floated the idea last month, it drew a sharp response. Online petitions and campus protests decried the move, angry e-mail flooded in, one alumnae group even hired a lawyer to try to discourage the board by citing legal concerns.

Saturday morning, an agitated crowd of some 400 students, alumnae and their supporters greeted the board's announcement by drowning out trustees president Jolley Christman as she tried to explain.

"Today we begin to heal. We begin to write the next chapter in our history," Christman said, barely audible over the shouting.

Christman said the 27-2 vote followed 2 1/2 years of study. The board determined coeducation was the best way to preserve the school's mission of high academic standards for undergraduate students and said a co-educational version of Randolph-Macon would emphasize global honors programs.

Interim President Ginger Worden told the students and supporters, "Do not, I implore you, turn your back on this college," but many in the crowd swiftly turned their backs on her in response.

Now they know how I felt when the Naval Academy went co-ed!

One of the things that the family will be discussing during dinner is my loan for the condo. My mom went to a local bank and told me that their interest rate was 5.7%!! The two rates from LendingTree.com were 6.317% and 6.5%!! That's significantly less. If that's true, I'm going with the local!!

MusicGuy, I know plenty of people who talk to trees and yes, I have done so myself a few times.

Cillaliz-Has your vet discussed using prednisolone instead of prednisone? Prednisone converts to prednisolone in the liver, so why make the cat work for the conversion. You might even be able to reduce the dosage.
