When I went shopping yesterday, I bought the only kind of elbow macaroni they had - small. It didn't seem right to me, but that's all they had so I figured it must be. It wasn't. It's TINY. Happily, I had one package of large (what I usually buy and what they usually have) elbow macaroni, so I'm safe.

I have missed you all terribly. the new job is very busy but a much much more pleasant atmosphere and that makes all the difference.. its also only 7 miles from my home, having had a round trip commute of 60 miles a day.. that alone makes a huge difference.

I went to the supermarket today to get the fixings for our Christmas meal... I ended up with a lovely standing rib roast

Do you have Christmas crackers and Christmas Pudding(or as my brother remarked when he fist saw it... oh good, burning lump!) with hard sauce in the land down under?

These are not American traditions but since I married the Vixdad we have had our crackers every year (the Christmas pudding is a bit harder to find and doesn't always appear)

Well I suppose I had better get back to the tree decxorationg chores.. I need to put away all the boxes and things I dragged out and since it is half past the middle of the night....

I shall take myleave of you all...... I will try and get back here ASAP......and I shall try to mail all your various and sundry packages and cards that I have heere but haven't gotten to the post office to do anything with!

Yes very much the English Christmas traditions here. Crackers and Christmas pudding!

Usually it is brandy sauce.

I prefer ice-cream!

Shortbread, fruit mince tarts and Christmas (fruit) cake are also normal fare for Christmas day - especially for the Christmas visitors on the festive days. Boxing day is of course a holiday here too.

Most visiting of neighbours, friends and relatives (other than the ones with whom we share our Christmas dinner(lunch) is done in the few days before Christmas.

Boxing Day is "recovery" and often is a Barbecue day.

Usually we have company over on Boxing Day (the Vixfamily that is) but it is a working day here in the US not a holiday and I since I am a newbie at the job I have to go in to the office. The Vixter and her dad have the weekoff between Christmas and New Years Eve
