Here's a page 7 Buster Crabbe dance (doesn't he look "kempt" in his pantaloons?):

From Ron:Your rant cracked me up.

That makes me think of the (anti-drug?) ad with the kid who gets in trouble for holding, or smoking or something:

"I LEARNED IT FROM YOU, DAD!

Is anyone else here as underwhelmed as I that Kelsey Grammar is doing "Henry Higgins" in the Philharmonic's "My Fair Lady"?

Evening Dear all!

Thank you for explaining about the "Pings" DR Ben.  I wondered about that.  I thought it was some uncouth interloper--did I spell that right?

Lovely picture, DR Jane.

Thank you, BK, for the story.  I enjoy hearing the back stage stuff.

I just wish I could see a fire fly.   :(  Ever since we got those darn love bugs and they started spraying for them, the fire flys have disapeared.   :'(

As fun as it would seem to release them at the movies, I wouldn't do that because they would just kill the poor little things.  I was upset the other day because I couldn't catch the lady bug that was in the room at my doctors office with me.  I told the nurse about it and she said she would get a broom (!) and "get it" after I left.  I'm sure I know what she did and it wasn't a release back to the wild.

That's another strike against the ad I was railing against.

The son obviously never watched his father give another man a firm handshake...or look another man in the eye while he shook hands.

Ladybug!  Ladybug!
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire.
And your children all gone.

All except one,
And that's little Ann,
For she crept under
The frying pan.

Let's see...after taxes....that's about $57 million or $58 million.

I guess it would still be enough...

I never heard that 2nd verse, DR Ron.

I can type and spell.  This keyboard is small and I'm trying to be fast since I don't have much time to post.

It's not Nanook unless you're also wearing furry pantaloons.

No furry pantaloons.  I do live in Florida after all.   ;)

I joined the Navy two days after I was graduated from college...to avoid the Army getting its hands on me.

I joined the Navy seven month before I was graduated from High school...to avoid the Army getting its hands on me.

I despised the thought of a military life, so a 2-year Naval Reserve commitment seemed the least painless option.

I must have screwed something up - I stayed almost 16 years!

Edisaurus, the box o' tapes is going out today Fed Ex - either second or third day, depending on cost - I'll let you know which.

The "bloodless coup" that I referred to the other day happened and jobs that I had booked have been yanked over to a different post house. So the place you sent them will hold on to them for me and I'll pick them up Friday night. The new place is closed on the weekends, and I will be there again on Monday, but Tuesday I leave for NY and drive to Boston (S&V is the opening night film at Boston's Human Rights Watch film festival) so I won't be back until the weekend and back at work on the 22nd. Sorry the window of opportunity is shut for a few days but I should have plenty of time at night when I get back.

You will LOVE it!  And it's only a block or two over from the Pantheon.

I have a recommendation if anyone is looking for a cheap place to stay in Rome. A lovely terrace apartment that a former film editor rents out to friends. We stayed there when we were shooting S&V.

At a recent meeting at work, someone pointed out the difference in ads based on who their targetting- one showing a young man of color joining the armed services to escape his ghettoized neighborhood and move on to something better. The other had predominantly white soldiers talking about how great it felt to save people.

Interesting - when I was in the service the "challenged" recruits were white and from our SE mountain areas.

Also, the Steward rating was racially/culturally restricted - only black and Filopino Filipino need apply!

The Steward rating, for a time in the 1970s, was the one rating in which annual advancement exams seemed to be routinely compromised.

It was a very tight-knit community.

I would guess that Mr Crabbe's pantaloons are illegal in at least 14 states.

I were responsible for a few "retakes."  ::)
